Both of the Ferrell siblings had made the trip to the outpost for the festival. While Rauri helped out at one of the merchant booths out in the marketplace, Tyris followed his nose straight to the food tent. The food on offer smelled really nice. But while he would have liked to stuff himself, Tyris had a feeling that he shouldn't. The food- indeed, the whole festival- was more for the new people who'd been arriving in the area recently from distant lands. Some of the food had to be saved for them. Besides, more important than the food would be the people. He really wanted to find out more about the travelers. And what better way to do that than by sharing stories over a meal? So Tyris got in line. "Hiya," he said to whoever was in front of him. He wasn't too picky about the sort of people he talked to. "I love a good festival, don't you? Especially when there's free food."
The person that was in front of Tyris had their back turned towards him making it seem as if the person didn't want to pay the young man any mind. However after a minute of silence from them, they would turn around towards the boy revealing themselves to be a young man in his late teens, wearing all black, and had a neutral expression on. Said expression had it difficult to tell what the older male was thinking, but if anyone were to take a guess, he was pretty much annoyed right now. "Not really." He said with a soft tone with his gaze looking downward at Tyris. "I'm not really a fan of crowds. I'm mostly here for the food because I'm really hungry."
A meal would be a good opportunity to see how this body's reaction to food works. It should be very similar to the prime dimension. Merkaba entered the Food Tent and let Alphabet, the girl with the silly name, be on her own. Elizabeth never liked to be watched while eating. Nor did she enjoy company at the table. The edible options were basic. Nothing of any high expense was used for the meals here. That was fine. Elizabeth ate to be satisfied and to live, not for enjoyment. Let others enjoy the delight of being a glutton. Without saying a word she found a small table with some laid out meats. Merkaba took a small piece of pork with her fork and tasted it with a nibble. It was bland but no different than what she could find at a cheap supermarket. Picking up a nearby plate from a pile that was set for the players. She placed a small portion of food onto it, and took a seat as far from others as possible. Fixing her large dress with her hands. Elizabeth would ensure no one looked at her eating. If someone would stare, she would look back with a devil glare and even leave the room if it continued. She truly hated that. Merkaba would slowly eat by herself for the remainder of the event, or until something important enough occurred to warrant her attention...
Tyris looked a bit disappointed at the man's response. Sure, he was hungry too, but he hadn't come all this way just for the food... it was just a high priority, that was all. "Well... uh... nice to meet you, I guess," he said, scratching himself behind the... ears? It was a bit hard to tell with him where the separation between his ears and hair was. "Well, we're both here for food so... let's eat!" Tyris helped himself to a plate and gathered a few of the offerings. Briefly, he looked over at the woman sitting in the corner, but she was giving off a bit of a creepy vibe, especially with the look she gave those who stared at her, so Tyris didn't approach. For a festival, there sure are a lot of people here who don't want to have fun, he thought. Without much better to do, he took a seat and started looking for people who might actually enjoy talking to him. If it came down to it, he might just end up starting something himself that'd liven things up.
Well, there was coin to be had. This might not be real life, but even the virtual world was controlled be economics. She knelt down, placed her wide brimmed hat against the ground, the bowl-like opposite end facing the sky – a makeshift donation box for the act – before picking up her novice's violin and prepping it. Bracing the violin against her neck, she pinched the frog with all three fingers save the index finger and the thumb in an downstroke position, prepping herself mentally for the task. Funny how the game included a mechanic so simple, but something like this actually required real skill. There was a huge difference in playing pre-installed songs than actually playing. How ironic that she was able to apply a talent in the real world in a virtual one. Here at least, her body could keep up with her performance. She started softly, the strings were a little harder than she liked, nothing like the Peter Infeld strings her father had bought her, but she could work with worse. A subdued sound, soft, like a lover's whisper but as moving as a heartbeat sang from her instrument. Each measure was controlled, precise, but no single tune followed the composer's notes perfectly. She was certainly playing a classic, some masterpiece from a European genius' collection, but it was being dyed in the color of her soul. An expression of her artist's spirit bled into the song and without even tapping into the power of her instrument that was supported by the world, she was creating magic in the form of unspoken word. To think she would be performing for a banquet – well, something like one, a fledgling musician needed to start somewhere before they were invited to a king's court. Baby steps to giant strides after all.
As his amber eyes scanned the crowd, Tyris spotted a girl with a violin. It looked like she was setting up to play. There were musicians outside doing their thing for the festival, but this one seemed different. She must have been one of the newly-arrived travelers. Indeed, the music she played wasn't much like the kind he remembered hearing before. He quietly munched on a buttered roll as he listened to the newcomer's music, prepared to offer enthusiastic applause when it was finished.
It looked like she had an audience, just a single person who appeared to have taken the time to turn his attention to her and her alone. That was enough, she was grateful to be heard, to leave an impression with somebody no matter how small. Be it one person or a thousand, Amelia was going to do her best. So she performed, she committed, she poured her heart out into this score and by the time she finished, the would take a step back and curtsy in front of Tyris, smiling sweetly. “Thank you for your time.” she told him cheerily, still breathing hard, a little winded from the performance but still able muster the strength for more. A bead of sweat trickled down her brow unto the side of her face but she sprung upright, assuming the proper position with her bow nestled between her neck and shoulder. “So good sir, does thou have any requests?” she asked him, taking on an overtly pretentious archaic tone – the sort the NPC bards around used. “Thy humble bard shalt do her best to see through to they petition.” her smile was soft, but the intensity of her eyes betrayed something else. @Tyris Ferrell
If there was one thing Purity liked, it was free food. Well, free anything was good, but free food was the best. She hummed a little tune as she walked through the food tent, eyeing the food that was laid out for everyone to take. She wasn't quite sure what exactly to take, but she bet the food would taste good. Probably better than noodles in a cup that were cheap and easy to make. She walked over to one of the the tables laden with food and took a chunk of meat into her hand. "...Ew..." She could feel the grease on her hand as she stared down at the lump of meat in her hand. ...Well she did came here for the food, she'll have to find a napkin later. With a sigh, she lifted the meat to her mouth and chomped down on it. She nearly dropped the meat in surprise. She hadn't expected to taste anything, but this... She coughed for a bit and swallowed her food as she looked down in surprise. This was really lifelike. A grin slowly spread across her face. This was so cool! Taking another bite out of it, she began to wander around, eyeing the food as she passed by them. She bet the others tasted just as good as the...what kind of meat was she eating anyway? Bah, whatever. It was good and that was all that mattered.
