Megathread - Terrasphere Speed Dating

  1. Alpha stared at...herself? She was torn between laughing maniacally and curling in on herself. Her voice was different, more lower-pitched than she was used to, and it only made her panic worse. She was practically dry-heaving by the time she had the mind to respond to Velka who was actually Alphabet Chocolate?

    What if life was just a dream? What if she was actually a split personality of a bigger whole? What if her entire existence was an implanted memory by aliens? What if Velka and her were actually vampire hunters and they were ambushed by some kind of psychic monster that switched their memories and now she had temporary amnesia from the thing so she forgot about the vampire hunting business and now there's a psychic monster on the loose and Velka and her have to get along and recover her memories by the end of the episode before the monster could claim more lives?!

    Yup. She was definitely breathing, albeit too fast and too much.

    She pointed to herself. "Alphabet Chocolate."

    Then she pointed to her lookalike-who-was-in-her-body-what-the-frickle-frackle. "Velka."

    And then she pointed two derogatory finger gestures at the sky and screamed hallelujah.

    @Velka

  2. "I..." Taking a look down at herself, Seigi recognized this body. Body Swap, for the last 'date' Uh... sure.

    "I..." A few tears started flowing down the girls boys face. There was nothing sad about them, she, he, seemed happy. "I kicked a bunch of baddies asses in heroic fashion! Including the Skull Goblin from Rugome!... And died a bunch." So, Sean wanted to become a Knight but couldn't? "If you want to become a knight, you become a knight! Criminal, or not. Believe in yourself!"

    @Sean Poteitoku

  3. As Sean listened to what his old pal did, he sighed in relief. "Thank you for taking out that skull goblin... I was prepared to die, over and over, to get my revenge." Without thinking, he went in for a hug, starting to tear up a bit. "I always believe in myself... Can I believe in you, too?" He let go, starting to blush a bit from the awkwardness. I never hugged somebody other than my parents before... He frantically started to look for something to distract him, and settled on looking at the meteor shower. "The meteors are beautiful... Aren't they?"

    @Seigi

  4. Mostly ignoring Destiny, Iván continued to eat his curry in silence, spoonful by spoonful. Yum. Rice and spicy sauce, who could ask for more? Still, the growing sense that something was wrong continued to nag at Iván Carl, definitely Iván Carl, Iván maybe-changing-his-name-soon Carl. Why did he feel this way? Could this be some of Jasper's curry? He thought he'd told the guy to put on a shirt already, and to stop putting weird mushrooms in customers' food. He wasn't scat singing (yet) though, so he didn't think that was it.

    "Sure, I guess. We'll call it Destiny Curry," he said after a moment. Then he wondered why he'd said that. Would he normally offer to name one of his curry dishes after a mere acquaintance, even one who'd faithfully accompanied him on the journey through the hellish Spire? He might need the woman on his side if he ever wanted to go back. And he did. He must, he must, he must. Iván took another bite of curry and chewed it, swallowing. "Needs Ant Juice."

    Still feeling like this pleasant evening scenario was way too normal, Iván looked around. It was a pretty fancy place, even fancier than the Fancy Pepper. Man, they should have asked the Curry House to cater if the Speed Dating was going to be having food. "Want to see my real face? I have one," he said unexpectedly, struck by a sudden, inexplicable, and completely irrational desire to take off his stinky Snow-Quilled-Guardian mask. He wasn't sure why this idea suddenly occurred to him (or with Destiny, specifically) but it was definitely happening now!

    Compelled by forces beyond his control, Iván Carl took off his mask, and then his goggles, and then peeled back the skin-tight body suit under that, and then the face paint, and then his mascara. He hadn't known he was wearing any of that until now, but apparently he was. Maybe he'd dressed up for Speed Dating? He didn't remember putting any of that on but anyway, as he peeled off the last layer of his false eyelashes and revealed his TRUE FACE (#nofilter) at last, Iván felt...

    ...Well, confused, mostly.

    @Iván Carl

  5. Weep! Rook had made up his mind to run from this speed dating. It might be speedy, but he was speedier he was sure! As the final scenario faded in around him, a lovely outdoor dinner with a gorgeous view of a spectacular meteor shower, he sprung immediately into action.

    Down went the table! Down went the chairs! Down went the tablecloth like a cat had dug its claws into the side of it and pulled as Rook vaulted the dining area, ignoring the people turning their heads towards him as he leapt upon a table and—

    But who was that (small and beaky, beady-eyed) down there? And how had he gotten Rook’s mask?

    He wanted it back! Rook had no hesitation in tackling the impostor. Rook’s taller height in his new body, the long, luxuriously wavy black hair around his shoulders— none of that registered to him, nor did the body swap. Give it back, give it back!

  6. Velka just stared at her own body in utter confusion. Clearly the girl was having some sort of mental break. She was struggling to think of any sort of response that wouldn't end up propelling the situation into something that was even worse than now when she heard it. The sound of something skittering underneath. Something big and angry... A feeling of utter dread washed over her and just as she stood up, the floor behind her erupted. She dove down instinctually, somehow managing to evade the hail of splinters, diners and plates of spaghetti thrown everywhere. Turning around to face whatever catastrophe had happened, she was could do nothing more than freeze at the sight that awaited her. A gigantic monster with bladed arms and a eight legs awaited her. It looked startlingly familiar for some reason, and she searched the recesses of her mind to put a name to the vaguely recognizable face. For some reason however, she just couldn't move, too frozen in fear to do anything.

    @Alphabet Chocolate

  7. Destiny narrowed her eyes at Iván's face. She was a little surprised that he didn't actually have eight eyes or a pair of mandibles, but who was she kidding? This was probably still part of the Speed Dating's many wacky magical hijinks. For all she knew, Iván really did have eight eyes and a pair of mandibles. Maybe him having a normal-looking, not-too-shabby face was part of this round's trickery. This was a really weird event. What did she get herself into? Looks about right.

    "Y'know, I don't really know how to win this game," Des wholeheartedly revealed, discreetly pushing her empty plate away from her face. The Yladian wasn't even sure there was a way to win the game, although what kind of game didn't have a victory condition, right? She was sure her old buddy Iván had gone through enough, at least as far as she knew, that he at least deserved a break. Maybe with this game. Maybe with her? "Aw, hell, I'm sorry, man. You gonna lose all 'cause of me."

    "God damn, I am so depressin'! Let's talk about somethin' else. How've you been since the last time we talked? I sorta remember you were on about some Absolution thing. Me? I got a boyfriend, I guess. A boy. Who's a friend. He's a little odd but he's got my back. All the time. Too many times, if you ask me. Feels weird. You got a story to tell, or not? C’mon, Iván. No shame in confidin' in an ol' friend."

    @Destiny Divebird

  8. She has to take a moment to honestly consider this. It seems that this is the second date she's had to be immersed enough in this game to answer like that, but if that's what he was comfortable with then far be it from her to drag the other out of his comfort zone.

    But what did he even qualify as? She tentatively answers, "I guess you could call me a man of magic, not that I'm able to show it right now. I do just about anything I think myself able to do. Which, I guess, is quite a bit... I tend to stick to healing people when things get rough, though."

    She stops to reevaluate what she just said. "Sorry, I guess that sounds a little bit shifty. I've just never really thought about this before. You said you wanted to pick up magic?" She shifts the topic ever so slightly, "I'm curious- What sort of magic draws you to learn it?"

    @Portia Ahrens

  9. Portia straightened a bit - then relaxed, as if glad to release some unworthy secrets she left hanging around. If someone else was to be in her body, might as well reveal some of its secrets to her partner. Not that they would matter in the long run. ''Healing is quite important. How is it like to be pestered by all the noble heroes rushing to their deaths?''

    Far from disappointing, the fact both mages differ in their respective uses of magic only brought a smile to his face. ''It isn't much about how or why I chose it, most of the time I've found myself matching the volatile energy leaving my fingers. Arcanamancy is one of the two abilities I picked up, and...''

    He had to come closer to where the woman, his original avatar, sat in eternal tranquility awaiting a complete response from him. Raising a hand to scratch the back of his neck, he used his remaining hand to point at the female's, transparent black gloves covering both of them. If it was true their masteries weren't working correctly, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

    ''Hydromancy. Though Arcanamancy has been the one I struggled with the most, controlling water and ice does certainly have its perks. That is... When I can actually control my abilities as to not freeze anyone upon touch,'' he confessed with a hint of embarrassment staining his cheeks in the form of a blush.

    @Haru

  10. "Ow, ow, ow!" Alpha squealed, a nasty splinter digging itself on her cheek. The rest of her body, guarded with plates of metal, seemed to be protected from the sudden, unexpected onslaught. It could've been worse but Alpha didn't really think about possibilities and worried more over 'I have a stick in my face!'

    Well, not her face but it still felt all the same. She turned towards the intruder, hands hovering over the lance (?) that she apparently owned. How do you even use a lance? Who uses a lance these days? What kind of person uses a lance? When were lances even made? Why a lance? Questions flooded her mind and she nearly drifted off into her own world before the horrifying sight brought her back.

    Arachna.

    She was about to scream and shout in terror until she was met with one firm realization. She wasn't exactly scared and that, in and of itself, was peculiar. Ever since she had died at the Spider Queen's hands (or bladed claws of death), she'd been overcome with a bone-chilling, blood-freezing terror at the visage of the monster. And now? Nothing. Maybe it was shock but, after a minute without a single urge to dig herself into a hole, she looked back at what-was-once-her-body and quirked an eyebrow.

    "Uh, let's fight...I guess?"

    It sounded less inspiring and confident than she intended it to be.

    @Velka

  11. "But Revenge i- Huh?" Suddenly, Sean hugged Seigi or was it Seigi that hugged Sean? It felt weird. Getting hugged by your own avatar and all! But right now, a hug felt good regardless. "T-Thank you... I-It's a hero's duty to be believed in!" The orangered-hair responded meekly.

    "The meteors?" Seigi looked up. Indeed, it was quite a sight to behold. "I... I've never seen shooting stars before..."

    @Sean Poteitoku

  12. 'Hydromancy.' She groans, feeling a headache coming on. So she had a bit of a problem too, did she? Rubbing her forehead, she immediately agrees.
    "...I guess we have something in common, then. That magic's unwieldy for me at best. I'm not sure how to do much more than to make pretty snowflakes, and I have a creeping feeling that I only got the mastery because I kept dying in blizzards." A blush that was once small had grown to cover her face, and she could feel the heat of her own embarrassment through her skin.

    @Portia Ahrens

  13. The meteors fell spectacularly, lining the sky. Sighing, Sean put his cheek to his hand. I don't know why, but I feel like I can be me around her... "I'm going to be honest, I feel like I can fully be myself around you..." He looked around for anything interesting.

    A crowd of people ran away from an area a small distance away. "What the-?" Sean quickly got up from his seat and ran to investigate. The crowd was running from a small tornado that formed. "Why now, of all times!?" As he finished talking, the tornado suddenly picked up speed, threatening to suck him in. "Erngh...!" Sean tried his hardest to maintain his balance, but he quickly started to slip, threatening to throw him into the tornado and likely kill him. Why is a tornado even forming?

  14. She barely had the opportunity to interact with the girl with the heterochromatic eyes before the scene ended and everything was plunged back into darkness, after which the strange host commanded them all to clap once more. Mizuki felt a tad silly but clapped nonetheless, at least feeling a small amount of relief at the knowledge that this wouldn't have to take too long, this being the last round.

    When the scenery reformed itself into a more commonplace night out instead of some kind of vampire story Mizuki looked up, then down, at which point she promptly blinked and realized that her body wasn't the body she had been using up until now. She could feel that her ears and tail were also different, sleeker and smaller. In fact, her entire body was a lot smaller than before.

    Shaking her head the displaced Caenis felt somewhat disoriented, but quickly spotted her own body, approaching it with a strange sense of vertigo, or whatever else she had to call the sensation of approaching your own body from the outside.

    So, have our bodies been swapped? Does this one belong to you?

    She indicated herself, hoping that it was just a two-way switch and the host hadn't just swapped everyone at random... what a hassle it would be to figure out whose body this was otherwise.

    @Mahiru Wind

  15. Mahiru had almost gotten warmth when the scene faded to black. Great, now I'm going to have a cold... She noticed how she was completely dry and didn't question it.

    She opened her eyes. Something felt off, but she didn't know exactly what. She looked around at her surroundings. An extravagant party, with a gorgeous meteor shower in the sky. She noticed a dog tail wave back and forth as she stared at it...

    Wait, dog tail?

    Mahiru looked down at herself. She wasn't in her own body, but instead, she was taller and had a dog tail. What's going...

    Somebody called out something in her direction. Turning to look at them, she immediately noticed that it was her body. "Wha-!?" She froze in shock. What's going on?

    @Ueno Mizuki
