  1. _____Morpheus was never one to run from a fight, even if it might look to be such as the old man barreled his way across the forest, club and cane in hand ready to swing as he spun around to bash the side of a bat aside before turning back to keep rushing away from the enraged mob behind him. Every story has a fair beginning, and this tale is just that. Morpheus was up minding his own two cents as he bashed his weapon against a rock to get a few practice swings in.

_____Then out of nowhere he was being run down by a flock of bats in the middle of noon, the bloody things should be allergic to daylight was his only thought as he once more spun around to bat away a bat. This time his turn back was less than graceful as the old man caught his foot on an exposed root and with a unsoundly ‘crack’ came from his foot he went down to the ground and began to tumble down a hill. His military training kicking back in as her balled himself up to minimize the damage before rolling and rushing to his feet as the bats swooped in.

_____Morpheus steeled his position in the dirt, his right foot was not going to help him get moving so he had to use the location he was given to turn this around. Slamming his club and cane together the old man lowered his center of gravity and got ready to start bashing targets down. While to be fair it was hard to tell what one was witch buth as he swung his left arm to the right sending a bat into a tree it was clear both the bats and Morpheus did not care for the moment.

_____Two bats dived down knocking Morpheus back two feet before the man stumbled to adjust and spun as best he could to get them off. A flourished double weapon slam against a bat as Morpheus regained his footing and swung his arms out while shouting at the bats. It was not exactly the most, well smartest thing he could do as all the bats turned and dove him together. Arms swinging as best he could as the bats seemed to claw and bite to try and bring down the male to no avail. The mass of muscle, and wooden armor stood strong for now.

  2. Lorelei had been minding her own business, strolling through the lands of Brisshal as if there was nothing to worry about in the world. In truth, in her eyes, there really wasn't. She had only returned to the area in the hopes of finding more of her race to possibly recruit to her cause and, perhaps, to earn a few coins helping some lesser trained vassals along the way. Not that she, herself, could lay claims to being any sort of expert. Her skills were mediocre at best, for the time being, but she was trained well enough to know she could get by rather spectacularly in the area she had first visited, here in Terrasphere; the area everyone first visited.

So far things had been slow for the leather-clad Yladian. She had seen very few new spawns and no one really of interest had caught her eye as she had made her way through the grassy plains and towards the caves. Along the way she had stopped to catch and skin a few rabbits, the meat being stored away in her inventory for a later time; as well as she had found and harvested a few berries and fruits, nuts and roots that she knew to be edible. If anything, for her, this little trip was a sort of mini vacation. A few days away from her duties in Yladia and the rebuilding it's few gathered people were trying to do. Compared to a lot of what she had seen and been through, Brisshal was tame and quite enjoyable, though its beauty didn't compare to her homeland.

Her homeland? Was it strange for her to think in such ways? Granted, she still knew and understood that this was a game, but when she was connected and in this virtual world, she had always preferred keeping in character as opposed to actually allowing her mindset to revert back to that of her 'real world self'. Terrasphere had become like a home away from home for her, and she took her purpose and place in its world quite seriously.

    ----CRACK!---

The sound of echoed through the otherwise quiet area, at least to Lorelei's elongated, elf-like ears, causing them to twitch at the sides of her head. “Hmm..” The sound left her throat as barely a whisper. Her mossy-green hues darting around the current landscape. Whatever had caused the sound was far enough off that her eyes couldn't yet make it out, but she was almost certain she knew which direction it had come from. Turning to her left and picking up her pace a little, she began to make her way to the West, her long, midnight bluish-black ponytail bouncing against the back of her shoulders. It took her only a few moments before she could hear the sounds of a skirmish; the echoes of bludgeoning objects, but what was that squeaking? The sound, though familiar, was eluding her processes for thought.

Following the sounds, the Yladian woman stopped in her tracks as she took in the sight before her. In a matter of seconds, she had counted a total of forty-three bats and one old man. This was not including the few bats laying on the ground around the poor geezer. She had also noted that he seemed to be favoring his right ankle and his current weapons of choice seemed to be a club and a cane. It was quite a sight to behold, the white-haired old fool turning and twisting to slam his held objects into the creatures as they attacked him. And attacking they were!

Lorelei wasted no more time as she saw the swarm circle and begin to dive towards the man. In a single leap, she was up from the ground, leaving her post and arching into a flying leap that would land her in front of him. Her sword and dagger already drawn, she spun on her right heel as she landed, her sword arching out to swipe through the first few of the bats as they made their suicidal dive. Following the move with an upward swipe of her dagger, she twisted back towards her left, feeling the smaller blade collide with two more of the creatures, for a total of five carcasses falling to her feet, as the others flew back to regroup and she chuckled at the old man.

“Name's Lorelei, and you seem to have yourself in quite a bit of a mess here.”

  3. "I was simply making a tactical relocation! These damn winged rats started something and I'm gonna see to it they get what is coming for it!"

_____Moving to mostly have his back to the other fighter Morpheus focused more on the Bats that still chose to give him a annoying time. Left leg moving just off the ground to avoid the pain a bit by reflex before he started swinging once more. Cane slamming down against a bat before club arced across to smack a bat away from his bad leg. The did not have the best of odds, and to be honest the area they fought at was also less friendly for them.

"We need to either thin-um out, or find a place that can't all strike us at... DAMN RAT STAY STILL!!"

_____Morpheus tried to speak a decent plan before he missed a swing and felt a bat trying to claw at his armor again as cloth got exposed. He might have been able to deal with them, but that was not to say it would last as such as he swung his injured leg to kick a bat over slightly before slamming his cane down against it and driving the winged foe into the ground with a loud crack and thud.

  4. Lorelei's focus was on the bats for the moment. Her sword swinging in a wide arch in front of her and two her right, she watched as two more of the bats fell. Her body shifted to stab her dagger out at another, just catching it's wing, as the old man moved to position himself more so behind and away from her. She had to give him credit. It was a tactical move. At least with this position, they could better watch the incoming threats as well as each others' backs.

The problem was, though, that the old man was already injured and she couldn't keep such a close eye on his front. Hearing him speak of them needing to either then the flying menaces out or find a more tactical place to fight. “You don't need to move around too much more than you have to until we can look at that leg.” She said. Her sword swung again, and she watched another of the winged foes fall. There were a few less, and she managed a simple smirk, as she could hear the sounds of the old man taking out a few of his own.

“I think we're doing well, truthfully. It shouldn't take us long to be rid of them, especially if we continue to work together." The old man was yelling at the bats, now. It would have almost been funny, were they not actually fighting for their lives here. Sure, it wasn't exactly what she had thought to do with her day. Well, she hadn't really had any thoughts on what to do with her day, but she was enjoying the battle, none the less.

Who wouldn't? Glancing around once more, her eyes lit up a bit, as she noticed a craggy area near them.”Hey, Mister, if we get over against those rocks, we can get to them all without having to worry so much about our backsides.” She said as she took a swing at another of the winged beasts, watching as it fell to the ground and she stabbed her sword through it. It might not have been the ideal plan to some, but it would at least give them a slight advantage.
