    Left and left and left and left! It was just in a labyrinth! If you kept to one wall, more-or-less, you would sooner or later end up somewhere! Seigi could only hope it was close to the others. Right now, she was the one who was alone. Right now, she was the one who was running into the risk of becoming a victim! But, then again, Seigi was THE! Main Character. The entire world should resolve around her.

    It was then that a hand touched her from behind. "NANI!?"

    Seigi turned around and saw... Fear. For a moment, fear overtook Seigi. This wasn't a joke. This wasn't an adventure. This wasn't some slime or fictional dragon. It was a serial rapist right in front of her and...

    "SCREW YOU!" Fight-or-flight. As, somehow, her Heroic Might was leaving her, Seigi punched him into the belly. It wasn't really metallic, unlike before. Yet, Seigi felt progressively weaker with each passing second. She remembered the self-defense courses her father had her take but... really... there was something else. If he was made out of flesh rather than steel.

    "TAKE THIS!" A kick targeted as his groin. "JUSTICE!"

    No big bad criminal that escaped from nearby prison would bully Seigi today!

    And so he began to patch the boy up. The entire situation was rather unpleasant- the kid looked really young, and it didn't exactly make Haru feel good to see someone like this be hurt to such a degree. "You'll be fine soon enough. Don't worry..." He gave as much assurance as he could at the time.

    Fortunately the time wasn't that long and the grievous wounds were dealt with. Haru would hardly call him tip-top shape as he had rushed in his panic, but he was good to fight again. Hopefully Yukisa wouldn't get in a condition like this again. Now he could focus on other things, like what was behind the door-

    A blizzard came forth, and promised death with it-

    He had to shield himself from the winds that pushed their way out of the place. Opening his eyes again showed him a surprising lack of snow that he could had sworn was coming. Was he just getting tired? He usually didn't imagine up things like that. It didn't matter, though, because the sight before him wasn't as pleasant as a barren, dead world full of snow.

    It was a little bit more alive than that. This time, the corpses inside were moving. Little menial tasks that hardly meant anything of import from what his scope of knowledge had about this whale so far. He found it a stretch of the imagination to call these things 'people'. They were cold, broken, and half-constructed.

    None of them had souls.

    In that sense it would be more apt to call them constructs or golems. That hardly forgave the builder for attempting so hard to give these things the form of man. It was rather disgusting. And as Corvella activated some power he wasn't familiar with, Haru found himself agreeing with her and staying silent not for his own good, but simply because he didn't want to use his breath in a place like this.

    +52 HP from Haru’s healing

    Before they pushed forward, Yukisa received a good scolding from the team's designated medic. He only smiled and gave him a nervous chuckle. "It's really not too bad! Helping everyone was more important..." he mumbled his poor excuse out. "But, healing would be really appreciated."

    As @Haru mended his wounds, it was clear he wasn't being entirely honest about how severe his state was. He winced a few times whilst the wounds healed. But when all was said and done, he still smiled gratefully at his fellow male. "Thank you. I feel much better."

    With that done, it was time to delve into trouble the factory.

    Immediately as the trio entered the factory, a second shudder passed through Yukisa’s entire body. Not because of the cold - that was easily dispersed with a blast of warm air - but because of the sight they came across inside the room.

    Seemingly endless machines stretched out before them, with an equal amount of lifeless workers operating them. And it soon became clear why said workers were lifeless: they themselves were entirely robotic, just barely resembling anything human. They worked methodically, producing jigsaw pieces that didn’t seem to make anything comprehensible.

    All of it was in stark contrast to the outside. The it itself was familiar, and brilliant in its own way. But this… this was cold. Mechanical. Dead. It felt dreadfully foreign.

    Things only got worse from there. @Corvella went berserk, becoming unintelligible and yanking a massive piece of metal from the ground and into her arms. Though she told the boys not to freak out, Yuki couldn’t help but feel a little distressed by his companion turning into the hulk so suddenly. But, as per her request, he tried not to show it, only giving her a “be careful” before looking somewhere that wouldn’t discomfort him - which of course didn’t exist in this situation.

    However, as the white-haired male stared at one of the assembly lines, he realized that perhaps it was worth further investigating those strange puzzle pieces.

    He approached the belt, closely observing the pieces as they passed by. He even reached for one and held it for a few moments, twisting and turning it to look at it from all angles, before putting it back where he found out. He definitely didn’t want to come off as a thief!

    Whether or not his detective work brought up any real observations, Yukisa proceeded to turn back towards his teammates and rejoin them.

    “Well… I guess we made the most of this. Let’s head back to the others?” he asked them. Should they all agree, he would then proceed to make his way out through the massive metal doors they came from. Otherwise, he would patiently wait for them to finish their business.

    The Minerva had been fast before but now, unencumbered by any limiters or brakes, any cargo or frame, any crew or sail, it was positively devilish now, a rocket accelerating upwards at breakneck speeds. Grasping on for dear life, @Iván Carl could feel his blood rush down to his toes, his thoughts scrambled as his flesh was blown back by the tremendous wind pressure exerted upon him. He flew up and up and up and up and suddenly, he was pulled to a stop, his arms hyperextending. @Portia Ahrens , at the very last inch of her magical range, had stopped him, crystals of ice anchoring her down as she began to pull her lover back to earth. But the engine too, wasn’t so eager to stop, and slowly, Ivan could feel himself being torn apart between two tremendous forces.

    His body couldn’t take it. Being quartered wasn’t the sort of death that would bring him closer to his amethyst deity, his magenta savior.

    Had to let go.

    Had to tell her to let GO!

    So he did.

    And Portia, unwilling to let her beloved fall into death alone, unfroze the crystalline ice that kept her bound to concrete and flew up with him.

    The addition of one extra body meant little to nothing, as they flew up and up and up. Past the Empire State Building. Past the Eiffel Tower. Past the Burj Khalifa. So high up until they could see the forest. Until they could see the blowhole of the beast.

    Ah.

    They had lost control of the engine.

    But, if there was any sort of control room for this Sky Whale, that would be the entrance. So far away. So far north, and yet, it was a distance that could have been easily covered if they had the Minerva. Perhaps someone should have been the Engineer after all.

    Perhaps.

    The couple broke through the shimmering windshield of the Sky Whale, and immediately, powerful drafts generated by the massive form of the whale blasted them backwards, away. In an instant, they were flung hundreds of meters off course from the great whale.

    And in Ivan’s hands, he could see it.

    The shimmering engine, having run at full power this entire time, was dimming once again.

    Time ticked, and death seemed certain.

    But perhaps there was still a way.

    ~~~
    She was a hulk. No, she was a she-hulk. No, she was THE She-Hulk, a mass of muscle that hauled the large sheet of metal as if it were nothing, breaking into the factory. The unfortunate workers who had inconvenient routines that brought them in her path were summarily swatted aside, crumpling into broken messes. Truly, @Corvella had transitioned into a madwoman of pure steroid induced might, an unstoppable empress on her way to conquer the world.
    Meanwhile, @Haru did more magical healing stuff while @Yukisa looked at the large metal objects that the machinery was pumping out. Though his own knowledge of tinkering was lacking, the white haired youth was able to at least find some patterns upon these jigsaw pieces. Though Corvella had found a metal plate that was completely flat, upon inspection of most other pieces, it was clear that she had found a defect. The rest of the pieces were curved and irregular, but he could not imagine them fitting together to form anything nightmarish like a Death Star. No, if Yukisa were to piece them together…
    The roundness of the metal pieces were more indicative of the suppleness of flesh than anything else.
    But before he could dwell on the information too much, the trio left the factory once more, only to realize that they had been surrounded by a squad of police cars, from which many armored police officers were barricaded behind.
    No, that wasn’t quite right.
    The police cars, though painted the right colors, were still more akin to carriages powered by magitech rather than real gas engine vehicles, while the police men were much too heavily armored for something that was trespassing and thievery, at the very best. If any of the trio were gamers, it was clear that the men surrounding them were more like models ripped off from any gritty SWAT-related FPS game, rather than plainclothes officers. The weapons wielded too were sleek and metal, painted a shining black, and yet were not real guns. They were crossbows instead, sparking with arcane sigils.
    “Put your weapons down! We’ve got you surrounded!”
    That phrase echoed from one officer to the other, incessant shouts resounding.
    But even if the trio did drop what meager ‘weapons’ they had, it mattered not. Within seconds of that statement, as if the entire ‘encounter’ was scripted, the police opened fire, unprovoked.
    Obsidian shards shot through their magical crossbows, piercing Yukisa and Corvella as Haru dove for cover behind the two. One ‘bullet’ tore a chunk out of Corvella’s calf. Another bullet blasted two fingers off Yukisa’s right hand. A third missed Haru’s ear by milimeters, whistling by.
    This wasn’t a fight they could handle. They had to escape. But on foot, there was no way for them to outrun these faux police vehicles, no way for them to protect themselves from the obsidian shards that substituted bullets.
    So…unless they had any brighter ideas, there was only one way, hm?
    Time to add grand theft auto to the list of crimes they’ve committed.
    ~~~

    The first punch made him laugh, the blow sinking into his gut with no real effect.

    The first kick though, ended that laugh quickly enough.

    Though it should have been soft, it was rock hard, and @Seigi could feel the disturbing sensations even through her boots. Instantly, Kyle’s eyes bulged out, dropping his knife as he pinched his thighs together, clamping down on Seigi’s foot as well.

    A second hand, cold as death, clamped onto Seigi’s thigh, digging deep, deep, deep as those eyes stared into her own.

    She had kicked a man in the groin.

    But in real life, there were plenty of countermeasures to that.

    In real life, no child was a hero.

    And yet, the vestiges of her heroism still burned, refusing to be extinguished by pitch black fear.

    Cycle 8: Ride or Die

    [IMG]
    <<Deadman Kyle>>
    phantasmorphical anomaly
    280/???

    Events:
    @Iván Carl has obtained the Damaged Engine Core. This can not be carried in your inventory, and halves the movement of whoever's possessing it, due to its impressive weight.

    1x Liquid Mana Tank (Assumed) is on the ground, where Ivan and Portia last were. This can not be carried in your inventory. While holding onto these objects, you may not benefit from any weapon mods. This item can be consumed to recover 40 EN, with possible side effects.

    @Seigi is afflicted with the Fear status effect, but is immediately dispelled due to the effects of the <<Stalwart>> passive. No stack remains

    @Corvella is afflicted with the Berserk status effect. She cannot communicate and is extremely aggressive in this state. All physical actions performed under this state of mind gets a +25 bonus modifier.

    @Iván Carl receives 20 HP damage from being put under extreme duress between Portia's water whip and the engine's flight.

    @Corvella @Yukisa receive 50 HP damage from being shot at. They are afflicted with the Bleeding status. At the start of the next cycle, they will receive 10 HP damage.

    @Seigi loses 30 EN.

    Important Notes:
    @Iván Carl and @Portia Ahrens it will be difficult to save both, but it will not be as difficult to save one. For this round, PM me your individual actions first. Imagine this as the last seconds before it becomes truly impossible to get back onto the Sky Whale, and thus, onto safety.

    @Haru @Yukisa @Corvella this will be almost completely freeform problem solving. Work together in the Communications channel and figure out what exactly you're going to do. Currently, there are ten police officers there, but only some of them have shot at you.

    @Seigi it should be clear to Seigi now that the numbers generated by the system are NOT indicative of what's truly happening. Treat this as a freeform fight. If you would like, we can collab.

    Actions

    As always, there are special actions one can take, depending on whether or not the situation demands it, or whether or not they have an Awakened mastery.

    Strenuous Effort [Everyone] By permanently sacrificing HP (reduce both your current HP value and your maximum HP value), you can gain a bonus modifier to your roll equal to the amount of HP spent, up to a maximum of 50. This modifier can not be applied to Support actions.

    Escape [Seigi, Haru, Yukisa, Corvella Only] EN Cost 20. Run away as far as you can, at a very fast speed. Roll a d100 + 5 per tier of your highest mobility mastery. Adding in your modifiers is optional. If you have a similar score to those in your immediate area, you stay with them. If you have a significantly different score to those in your immediate area, you fall behind or speed up ahead, separating from them.

    Fight [Seigi, Haru, Yukisa, Corvella Only] Perform actions from your WB action list, rolling the appropriate dice and deducting the appropriate amount of EN.

    Investigate EN Cost 10. Activate Investigation mode and scan your surroundings for details. Roll a d100 and state what you are looking for. Depending on the result, you may receive a DM.

    Scout Separate from the group and go off in a direction of your choice. In the next cycle, you will be considered isolated from the others.

    Patch Up EN cost 15. Perform a Heal action at half effectiveness, with any mastery modifiers that may apply. If you are Haru or Ivan, the Heal action's effectiveness is not halved.

    Shout Scream at the top of your lungs to draw the attention of any resident that may exist in this cityscape. Roll a d100 + 5 per tier of Heroic Might or Aeromancy. Depending on the result, you may have an impact on the next cycle.

    Heroic Aura
    Stalwart Passive. No matter what maledictions are poured upon you, a hero will not falter. Excluding Beginner, each tier of Heroic Aura grants you a stack of Stalwart at the beginning of combat. Each stack automatically dispels a magical debuff, before being consumed.

    Rouse Free action, costing 10 EN. Establish your Heroic Aura, the radiant banner that empowers all your allies. Grant either a +10 damage buff that stacks over other buffs, a +10 HP Shield, or immunity to a single debuff for the next cycle to everyone in your party.

    Warcry Action, costing 20 EN. Can only be used once every three cycles. Unleash a devastating roar, stunning all minions on the battlefield and performing a Disruptive Attack upon all those in the same Zone as you. Use Heroic Might as the modifier. If the resulting score is high enough, enemies in the same Zone will be knocked back one space as well.

    Limit Break[Seigi Only] ???

    Chronomancy
    Time Accel Passive. Human might may be limited to one’s muscles, but with the ability to manipulate time, even physical constraints can be overridden. Excluding Beginner, each tier of Chronomancy grants you a stack of Accel at the beginning of combat. Each stack can be consumed during your turn to double the movement speed of either yourself, or your ally. If you choose to, you can consume 3 stacks of Accel instead in order to grant one extra action to yourself or your ally.

    Rewind Action, costing 20 EN and 20 max EN. Grasp the fabric of time and pull it back, returning yourself to your original physical state. Set your HP, status, and physical location to what it was in the start of the previous cycle, essentially negating everything that has occurred to your character in the current cycle. This ability can be applied to objects as well.

    Terminate Action, costing 30 EN and 30 max EN. Can only be used once every three cycles. Dive into the depths of your time manipulation abilities, locking an enemy or ally in time. If this is used on an ally, they are immune to all enemy attacks for the next round. If this is used on an enemy, they are unable to act during the next cycle, and are immune to all damage from players. If this is used on an unwilling target, a d100, modified by Chronomancy, must be rolled to clear a hidden DC.

    Limit Break [Ivan Only] ???

    They exited the factory the way they came, quickly realizing that it was probably a bad judgement on their part; police vehicles, resembling real-world ones, but more fitting with the setting, and SWAT ripped straight from FPS games have surrounded the exit. Actually, it won't matter much that they told them to drop whatever they're holding, they still fired anyways. Taking Corvella and Yukisa by surprise, the magical projectiles dealt significant damage to them.

    For her, it's just an itch, even if her calf was just blown out like she's getting shot by a .50 cal bullet. But seeing hail of bullets hitting Yukisa's fingers and injuring his right arm sent her into a rage. She loudly let out a haunting growl, as the police readied their next hail of magical bullets.

    Corvella's not stupid, she could take on the police real quick; in fact, she really wanted to rip them apart. But it might kill her and her friends in the process. If they run, the police would quickly get to them via magical carriages. Then, in that case... Quickly putting the massive metal plate in front of her, she used it as makeshift gigantic vertical mobile protection. She grunts and her left hand pointed to the police vehicle furthest from the rest of the officers, ushering the other two to move it and grand theft some auto.

    The Titanic Empress would then move along the two with the plate to the side, shielding them from potential following fire. Should any officer try to get close or around it, she would bash them with the greatest strength humankind will ever see. Let's see how they react to a two-inch armor plate.

    "Don’t worry! I’ve got this all under control." Except, he didn’t. There was nothing that made his tinkey sense tingle, so he assumed that everything was okay, that the engine, no matter how familiar it seemed to him, was pretty much something new, something different, something beyond his proficiency. "I do! But this one’s broken!" Just like him.

    "What the?!" Iván was surprised when everything came to a halt. Turning to where @Portia Ahrens was, he realized what was happening: She was trying to save him. He watched, wincing, grimacing, as Portia tried to reel him back down. But the pain of getting torn between the engine and the girl told him that there was no reeling him back down. "What are you doing? Let me go, Portia!"

    He wouldn’t be able to survive all this pulling. Simply put, he was going to die. Worse? He was going to drag her with him. "Let me…" Suddenly, he was no longer bound to two forces fighting each other for parts of him, but so was Portia in that she, too, was no longer bound to the force of gravity. It seemed, right then and there, that Portia x Iván would live up to their moniker, sharing the same fate, the same journey, from start to finish.

    Iván was at awe at what the out-of-control engine had shown them, the sights, the wonders, the secrets, the truths. He wondered if they had all been doomed from the start. As if on cue, the engine affirmed his tragic realization. Death was coming for him yet again, and Portia was unfortunate enough to be close to him.

    Maybe not… Iván grinned, closing his eyes. There was still another way. How could he have been so stupid as to not have thought of it before? He reacted on instinct, and that was a huge mistake. Now he wasn’t going to be the only one to pay. But it might not be too late…for her.

    "Portia…" He could only save her, the engine, or himself. He was out of the question. This was his fault. For trying to be human. The engine? Well, it was already damaged. None of the others would find use for it. They might be better off finding another in that factory. "…bring me back something really cool. You know where to find me."

    As Iván moved his hand in a circular motion, yellow light swallowed it whole. His eyes showed him things no other person could see, strands of different colors, his, the engine’s, and Portia’s. Focusing on her strand, Iván began working his magic to return the girl back to what was, rewind her fate. If successful, she’d be back on the whale, safe, as she was always meant to be. That’ll do, darling. That’ll do.

    ''Oh no, no, no... What are you doing, Iván?! Let go of it right now!'' Standing in place, Portia felt her arms shaking as she struggled to maintain the spell, the engine threatening to drag them as well as she stumbled a few steps forward. Through gritted teeth, she commanded the ice to climb further up the illusionist's leg, only to find it still wasn't enough to prevent her from being pulled.

    Up and up they went, away from the whale and the group they'd left on it, a sense of unease crawling along her spine.

    Portia heard her name in her friend's voice just in time to catch his plea and his hand being consumed with the weaving of his magical essence. Her eyes widened in shock, a mild sense of betrayal tainting her otherwise cold expression as awareness of his intentions hit her. For her sake, for her good, even though that wasn't what she wanted.

    Her eyes fluttered closed, and for a moment she knew only disappointment, her nails digging deep into the ice in a defiant gesture. If only her magic could be summoned at the last second to cancel the effects of his spell... Then she could be allowed to remain. Nothing else made sense but this one choice she was allowed to make at the last minute, her own bright cerulean light against the flood of his magic threatening to take her away, sparkles of light flaring in retaliation.

    Opening her eyes again, her focus darted from the engine, to the hand he'd used for the spell and back to Iván himself, brows furrowing at the sight of him. What he had done for her, even when she hadn't requested his help... Her amber gaze fixed on his, flames dancing in her eyes as she spoke for the first time in a while, unable to keep the snap of her voice. ''Who gave you the right?!''

    ''You don't get to make these choices for me!'' A thought alone filled every corner of her mind, the desire to remain with him stronger with each passing second. To look at him casually going by his everyday routine, none would've guessed how much he'd given and how much she blamed herself for all of it. If anything, because everything she owed him and the relationship they possessed, she simply wished to remain with him until the very end. ''This,'' she gave a pointed pause, a tattooed hand reaching out to hold on to his ankle, a symbol printed on the back of her hand which he should've been able to recognize, ''is what I want.''

    Despite the hurt she had regarded her partner with mere moments ago, the voice that issued from her throat was as clear as compass wind. His words spoken in her voice, Portia's tone soft but definitive in what it stated. ''I'm here. Always,'' she said no more on the subject and allowed those to be her last words for him.

    Just. What. Was. THIS!? For a split-second, Seigi had second doubts.

    K̴͏i͟͏҉̴ĺ̨̕͠l̸͘͘ ́̕͘͞h̸̡̛i̛͠҉̷m̢̡͜.͏̀

    But now, running away was not okay. She had to finish this. She felt strangely drained. It was do or die now. Without her Heroic Might, the Hero had to rely on technique instead.

    K̷̡͢í̷̸͢͠l̸̴̕͞l̶̸̨̧͜ ̷̵̀͠h̡҉į̵̴҉͡m̸̧̛̀.͏̀͡

    But he wasn’t someone that could be helped anymore.

    He wasn’t someone that deserved to be beaten up and given another chance.

    K̴͢͢i̕l̷̵̢l̷̷̵̀͟ ̨̡̀͜h̛͝į́̕m̧̕͝͝.͡҉͏͞͝

    He was someone that deserved to be punished. Her Heroic Might had left her, but the girl was buff nonetheless. Just not in an inhuman fashion anymore. With his iron grip on Seigi’s thigh, the orange-hair used it as a crutch to lift herself upwards, closer to the giant, closer to his face. A Headbutt? That would have been such a Seigi thing to do, right? But...

    K̀̀͘͘͟í̶̡͡͡l̢͝l̛͡ ͟͞h̶͠i҉͡m̷̡̕͠.̸̨̨͘̕

    Instead, Seigi tried to press her fingers deep into his open eyes…

    As her fingers jabbed into Kyle’s eyes, the serial killer reared back, hissing in pain even as he smiled, enjoying the struggle. Taking a step back, he growled between clenched teeth, before clenching a fist and swinging for her small, small head.

    He let go of her thigh. Seigi was free, all she had to do was get her fingers out of the blinded man and— too late. His fist slammed into her tiny face, catapulting Seigi a few meters back. Normally, this would have ended badly, but now? Now she was Seigi Ling Ling. Her body, battle-hardened. The pain? She had worse. The fall? Not much of a problem. Hesitation, fear? No.

    K̛͢͟͜i̧͘͝l̷̨̕̕l̨̢͘ ̸̢h̢̢̛͘͞ì̸m̶̨͟.̀͘̕͞

    Getting up again, her face red, her nose broken, Seigi eyed Kyle. Now, he would most likely react to sound, wouldn't he? The crazy types would always do crazy stuff. If that was the case then, right, a stone. Some rubble. Something, her second attack, the orange-hair charged forward, with a piece of garbage in the hand that she aimed at the ground beside him, behind him.

    It scattered by him, but Kyle wasn’t dumb. She was in a dead end, with no way to escape, and the sound of her crashing onto the ground in front of him was enough of a guide for his movements. Laughing like a child, the madman bulldozed towards her, 223 pounds of fat and muscle hurtling towards Seigi.

    It was too late. The girl couldn't stop dashing anymore. Not able to use the lessons her father had let her take for self-defense. But, she could always go with style! With the mad rapist charging towards her, and Seigi doing the same, there was either up or down.

    Down.

    Seigi did a sliding tackle, hopefully past him. Aiming to kick his leg to topple his balance.

    Ḱí͠l̛̀l͏̸̧ ̵̕͝͠h̷̵̀͞͡i͢͟m͜͏̶.̴̸̀

    There was a dropped knife behind him.

    The impact made her foot numb as she collided with Kyle, but the effect was greater on him. She slid into his right foot as his left stomped onto her shoulder. Pulsating agony spread from that point as a definitive crack could be heard, but Seigi made it through while he stumbled, falling flat on his face. A cracked howl could be heard as he pushed himself up once more, bloodshot eyes seething as he whirled around to face...

    Screw. The. Pain. Just like Kyle, Seigi, too, was a demon in her own right. Still sliding, she managed to grab the knife.

    Just like Kyle, she too saw red. Still, on all fours, she turned towards him. Would they go for a second rodeo?

    They would. The blood rage was alive, adrenaline pounding and pounding and pounding. Oh, it would be so much more fun now.

    With that, he rushed at Seigi, one open hand reaching out for the side of her head.

    The girl got up.

    This time, she was stationary. This time, there was no momentum. This time, she would put theory into practice. Sure, he was a tad bigger than it was good for her but this time— he was too fast. His hand grabbed her head.

    Kill him.

    But she would kill him regardless. One stab. She could feel the pressure on her head. Two stabs. Her small frame smashed against the wall. Three stabs. Adrenaline pumping. Four stabs. It was just like punching. Five stabs. Again, and again. Six stabs. Punch stab after punch stab. Seven stabs. Did her depth perception suddenly stop... working?

    Stab. Stab. Stab. Everything turned red~

    Stab after stab after stab.

    Slam after slam after slam.

    Each bloody strike left more crimson on the ground as the dead man laughed and laughed and laughed, bringing his other hand into the fray as well, punching, kicking, biting, ravaging the small child that single-mindedly continued to drive that knife into his flesh.

    This was it. This was IT. The borderline of life and death. The boundary where he would attain immortality!

    "Ah."

    The sweet fragrance of blood and flesh. The fading heat of life. The pure taste of slaughter.

    "Ah...haha... haahhh..."

    Her chest squeezed tight as she restarted the breathing she forgot.

    Carnality. Impulse. Bloodlust. Supremacy. Hunger. Lust. Fulfillment.

    No Justice.

    Seigi's short, quick breaths were painful as the adrenaline slowly left her body. The chemicals that made her immune against the feeling of pain stopped spreading. The crimson-hair didn't know how much time passed as she could barely make out something in front of her. Behind the crimson veil that covered her single, still healthy, eye. There were a lot of guts that took a lot of effort.

    Funnily enough, the pain was numbing. Could she still move? Was that the sound of her knife clattering on the ground? Everything was so hot. Right. She delivered... Justice. Justice to the rapist.

    Her body had to move. Was it moving? Hopefully.

    The Captain had to find her Crew.

    Yukisa was what you would call a “goody two shoes.” He rarely ever got into trouble, the worst thing he ever did during his entire highschool life being letting his classmates copy off of his homework.

    Therefore it was hard to believe he went from that to being involved in a police ambush.

    The former “saint” felt his heart racing. Had they done something illegal? Were they about to be arrested? Either way, having a bunch of rifle barrels pointing at him definitely didn’t help with the panic.

    “Guys, maybe we should liste-” From his words, it was clear that Yuki was more than happy to comply with the lovely officers who proposed a nonviolent solution to this predicament… that is, if they had given the group the chance to do so.

    Instead, the task force opened fire before the trio could even think of surrender. Though he managed to avoid the majority of the bullet rain, an obsidian shard had found its way to the pinky and ring fingers of his overextended right hand and blasted them clean off.

    Even with the adrenaline flowing through his veins, it was difficult stifling the pained scream that came from having two appendages cut away instantaneously. He brought his bleeding hand to his chest, holding it with his other one while trying to calm down.

    The boy’s pink eyes drifted up as he did so, perhaps looking for a distraction, and landed on @Haru. To his relief, the healer was no more scathed than he had been previously. But as he moved on to check how @Corvella was doing, his relief dissipated.

    The she-hulk was no better off than himself, a chunk of her calf having been torn out of its place. His expression turned into concern for her, though his worries were mitigated by how little she was fazed by the injury.

    “It’s fine… I’m fine,” he let out a strained mumble when she grunted from the sight of his state in an attempt to placate the berserker. The last thing he wanted to do was cause her more distress than she was already going through.

    There was no time to dwell on their injuries, though, as it wouldn’t be long before a second hail of bullets would be unleashed upon them. As Corvy pointed towards the police car, Yukisa nodded in agreement and quickly joined her behind the makeshift shield.

    As the three musketeers moved along towards the magic-powered vehicle, the Aeromancer realized that even if they drive off, they were still likely to get caught.

    But if their pursuers couldn’t get in their cars…

    It was a stretch, but he at least needed to try. Mustering what little energy he could, he called upon the winds to assist him. Gusts of air would hit the robocops, and though in his injured state he could only manage a relatively weak attack, that would at least delay their chase.

    And so Yuki’s uncanny life as an outlaw began.

    The second he saw those cops something was off. He couldn't quite put a finger on it immediately, but the thought popped up the second the soulless mockeries began shouting at them.
    None of the cops were using proper gun safety. All of them had their fingers already on the trigger..!
    He leapt back behind anything he could get behind. There was no time for words, and he knew he was right on that notion when magical rounds impacted the pavement and the bodies of his friends on top of it. From the sound of Yukisa's cry it wasn't pretty.

    That's why he wasn't surprised by the holes in their bodies. He had already seen it coming, yet wasn't quick enough to capitalize. Corvella pulled through for them though, putting up a new wall for them.

    They needed to escape before he could do anything to help them again. How could they, though? The hail of projectiles kept them from moving.
    Such was quickly stoppered by Yukisa's mighty wind. Even distracted by pain as he was, he could still put up a fight.

    These two did so much work. He had to pay them back tenfold.

    His attention made for Corvella. Haru grabbed ahold of his spiritual mastery, already having came up with an idea all the way back in the factory proper. The woman was too furious to talk to them normally at the moment. Her mind was hazy and her reasoning unclear.
    Her soul, however, was bright as ever. And when Haru spoke she would listen to him.

    "Corvella. Get in the car. Move!" He brought his mind to bear and reached out to the soul with voice alone. WIthout waiting for an answer, he forcefully hoisted Yukisa into his arms and bolted towards the nearest car. Neither of these two were fit to act right now and Haru would more than make up for it no matter what.

    He put Yukisa in the passenger's seat, and from the sound of it, Corvella just made a hole in the roof and was standing there to keep holding onto the metal plate. A quick look confirmed that. It was a sight he would never forget.

    And that's how Haru, after five years of inactivity, found himself in the driver's seat again.
    "Damn." And he had no key to turn the car on. Frustration rose to meet him. Attempting to go back would probably reward him with a bullet...

    You know what? Screw it. He'd just make it work anyway.

    Haru reaches down, deep within himself, and pulls out his soul in the shape of a key. As he puts it in the ignition, he wills the car to life. Blue light flared from all pores of the car and immediately he felt his life draining from the effort.

    He looks back to the cops one last time and requests of them, "Try to keep up with me."

    That car went fast.

    They clung together as the engine continued to thrum.

    Far past the clouds, until the light of the sun meant nothing to the darkness of space.

    It was a scene that only the two of them would be able to see.

    The blackness of space against the boundary of the ocean, the curvature of the familiar, yet foreign planet clear around them. A white ring coated the boundary between Earth and Space, blue and black. Their breaths were thin now, frost clinging upon their bodies.

    There was no magic in the world that could save them.

    But there was no magic in the world that could let one see what was before them.

    They clung together and, as the engine fell apart, they fell with it.

    Falling, falling, falling, holding onto each other even as the hungering winds tried to pull them apart.

    In a world without flight, perhaps those two got the closest to the serenity of falling without fear.

    They burst past the clouds, vespers of white spiralling around them.

    The world came up to meet them, the indigo of the ocean.

    And still, they held each other’s hands.

    There was a splash.

    They sank.

    Drifting.

    Apart.

    [IMG]

    It was a scramble, each member of the dynamic trio bursting off in different directions. Rushing up from the front, @Corvella took the brunt of the focused fire, obsidian shards shattering against the heavy plate. Each blow caused another spark of pain to jolt through her heavily damage leg, but misery and agony kept her awake, the fury driving her forwards, forwards, forwards. Seeing their bullets rendered useless by the makeshift shield, a couple of the officers split off from the rest, rushing up with batons in hands.

    A foolish maneveur, when Corvella’s muscles bulged, almost doubling in size before she swung the massive plate at the incoming men. With an impact akin to dynamite, three men were sent flying through the air, smashing into the adjacent walls. Another subset of officers rushed up as the Berserking Empress approached one of the vehicles, sliding around before positioning themselves to shoot once more.

    Sharp arrowheads buried themselves in her back, more holes seeping blood, but before the onslaught could continue, @Yukisa was there. The white haired aeromancer jerked his head out of the way as a propelled blade grazed his cheek, the winds gathering in the palm of his hands. Gale force winds roared out, scattering the men further, armored officers in disarray as the swift winds pulled them dozens of different directions. It wasn’t strong enough to deflect the projectiles themselves, however, another two bullets slamming into @Haru ’s sides as the bald spirit mage dove into the closest vehicle.

    Immediately, a dashboard that looked to be a perfect mimicry of a modern day vehicle was before him. The key was still in the ignition, the pedals all made sense, the wheel was just like the type that you’d see in arcade racing machines. He could do this!

    Slamming the accelerator, the car rushed forwards, Corvella tearing off the top of the vehicle so her giant shield could actually fit in, while Yukisa slid into the shotgun seat, pushed back by the sudden acceleration. Behind, the police officers gathered themselves, leaping into their own vehicles to give chase. Black and white, red and blue. Sirens resounded all around as Haru’s ride skidded upon the concrete, enemies in pursuit. Sporadic fire was deflected by the plate, but even though the trio had a headstart, it was clear who the better drivers were.

    Slowly, the police were gaining, silhouettes and blurs approaching the grand auto auto dudes at accelerating speeds.

    BUT NOT IF HARU COULD HELP IT! HIS BODY WAS STEEL, HIS BLOOD FIRE, HIS SOUL ELECTRIC, BECOMING ONE WITH THE VEHICLE HE DROVE!

    Switching gears and gritting his teeth, the madman spun the wheel, the tires squealing as the carriage drifted, performing a hairpin ninty degree turn before bursting into an alley almost too narrow for it to go through. Unable to perform the same maneuver, the police drove off, searching for a way to cut them off instead.

    Though Corvella's plate scraped against the walls, showering them with sparks, there was a collective sense of reprieve, of relief.

    But then, a girl appeared.

    Coated head to toe in blood.

    One side of her face caked with gore.

    Their captain, their hero, @Seigi .

    In the distance, the sirens drew closer once more, but here and now, she can grab on!

    THE RIDE HAD NOT YET DIED.

    Drive [Haru and Yukisa Only] Take the wheel and make the magitech carriage go VROOM as you drift around like a badass maniac, dodging obstacles and making tight turns in order to evade and escape the damned cops. Roll a d100 + 5 per tier of Riding and add the value to Speed. After every Drive post, I will be posting a freeform mini-event that may benefit or deter your escape attempts.

    Barricade [Corvella Only] Hold up your giant sheet of two inch thick metal and continue to shield everyone from the incoming gunfire obsidian shards. Roll a d100 + 5 per tier of Shield to see how many you can continue to deflect. If you roll a total score that's less than 70, the shield is dropped on the following cycle.

    Leap On [Seigi Only] Jump and grab onto the speeding vehicle before you get left behind and run over. Roll d100 + 5 per tier of any mobility mastery, against a DC of 100.

    Grab Hold [Haru, Yukisa, Corvella Only] Extend a hand and help pull Seigi aboard. Roll d100 + 5 of Heroic Might, Berserk, or Health. This roll subtracts from the Leap On DC. If the Leap On DC is completely negated, Seigi can get onto the speeding vehicle immediately, and contribute to either the Barricade or Drive event.

  5. Iván did not expect his part in this expedition to end so soon. With what had happened down in the Inverted Spire, he really did want things to be different this time around. How many times has he died in these things? Three, four? The first death, he received in that very same Spire, though he wasn't the first to die. It was someone named Temperance who unfortunately got squished by some colossal monster's foot during an attempt to save someone else. Strange, it seemed to Iván, that in this expedition, his second, he had played the same role as Temperance, the healer whom death claimed while he tried to save someone else, someone who did not want to be saved. Was it their legacy? Was it a curse? Only time could tell.

    He held @Portia Ahrens as tightly as he could, knowing that the end was coming soon. Through the clouds, he could see sunlight. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. No... Not the most beautiful sight... He turned to her with a grin. He tried to save her, that much was true. But perhaps, he should've tried harder. Perhaps, he should've saved her from him. Death seemed to love him so much, it probably became green with envy the moment Iván considered Portia more worthy of a life than him. This was all his fault to begin with. Why wouldn't she be more worthy of life?

    Aside from her, he found the rest of what he saw beautiful. That point where black and blue met, space and seas, the very things he would only be able to see in science fiction movies. Unless he'd actually care to watch space documentaries and the like. Or more fitting, go off into space to die. He felt his heart, his breath, as cold finally came to claim them. He held Portia tighter, as tight as he could, in the mistaken belief that his warmth could save her. There was no saving them. Not right then and there.

    Eyes closed, Iván could only feel their descent. Whether it was fear or his eyes being frozen shut, he could not force himself to look. All he could see now was darkness. Yet he felt everything else. He felt her. And then the splash came. He tried to hold on to her, tried his hardest, but he couldn't. They were pulled away from each other, calmly, sweetly, as if death had different plans for the pair, the World's Greatest Lovers. Deadest, more appropriately.

    All this shielding and no punching makes the big girl sad. Lucky for her, three robocop felt that they were strong enough to take her head-on, resulting in them promptly getting sent to kingdom come by her majesty's sheer power. While Corvella was busy holding off the cops firing at them, several flanked her and shot her in the back, resulting in some close-up montage in slow motion. She does not feel pain of getting shot at, or maybe just an itch or two, a double edged sword of the berserker form.

    Amidst the chaos they've been causing, bald Haru managed to get inside a police vehicle, complete with modern-looking dashboard, steering wheel, key and all. If she wasn't really angry right now, Corvella would throw a quick 'really?' at it. She quickly ran while still blocking the obsidian shards with the plate; those pesky little things stand no chance against the two-inch metal plate, straight from the finest German Engineering.

    There's no way she could fit the metal plating inside the car, so she sat on the top and casually tore the car hood open to slip some of herself inside. Even with the car now moving so fast the eurobeat began to kick in, they still some protection with the metal plate facing the back of the car like that death race car gadget the protagonist used. What was it? The tombstone? Yeah, it's tempting to just throw this thing to the cars behind to blow up some, but they'll lose their only protection quick and gunned down. If only there's magic gun inside the car so they could drive-by.

    After several unexpected kansei dorifto by baldy Dominic Toretto, the trio could catch some breath for a while as the police momentarily lost them. Even in the rage, she noticed @Yukisa communicating with the UI and mentioned Portia's name, prompting the raging she-hulk to ask something that you could call a question, but it sounds too much like a threat honestly.

    "Ì̷̢̨͢V̀͠A̸̛̛N̸͏ ̨́͟A̴̢N̢͢D̨͝ ̡͝G̴͘I̢͘͜͝R̷̴̨L̴̕͞F͏R̴̨̀̀͞I̶̛E̸̵̛N̨̢̛D͟͟,̸ ̷̵̴͟͞W̛͢HĘ̧́͡R͢͏́͠È̸̵̕͝?̡̛͘͢!"

    Yep, absolutely menacing. It looked like she was going to rip Yukisa apart if he didn't answer, even with the blood still dripping from the open wounds on her back. Somehow, she noticed Seigi around the corner. Looking at her condition in just a glance sent Corvella back into a rage. No one hurts her friend. With her enhanced strength and reflex, she reached out to the side to grab Seigi's arm.
