Brisshal, the region in which all new players are first spawned when they first entered the world of Terrasphere, however the area in Brisshal that every player entered in was different. Some players found themselves spawned upon a grassy field, others in a heavily wooded forest and others still found themselves upon a sand beach with the waves crashing down around their feet. Tavion had been one of those players who had been spawned into the forest area, blinking slightly he looked around him his eyes opening wide in awe and wonder. How had the creators of this game done this, how could it even possible that something like this could even be done in the first place? He looked down at his hands and seen the starting long bow that he had chosen as his starting weapon when he was sculpting his avatar, gripping it in his hand he reached down with his other and pulled the string on it slightly letting it go so that it made a slight 'twang' sound as the string snapped back into its proper place. He had never used a bow in the real world and if he was honest he wasn't even sure if he would know how to use it here but it seemed like a better choice than going with a sword, it seemed like a good idea to be further away from your target if you didn't know how to use your weapon that being right in-front of them. Standing there for a couple of seconds he tilted his head back and closed his eyes inhaling deeply allowing the earthy smell of the forest around him to fill his nostril, to feel the damp air upon his skin that threatened to give him goosebumps. Opening his eyes he decided that he needed to practice using his bow before he found himself in a situation where he would really know how with his life depending on it. Turning around he stood there looking for a target before he decided upon using a rather large tree in the distance, reaching down he pulled an arrow out of the quiver and placed its feathered end upon the bows string as he notched it looking at the tree in the distance. Lifting his arm up he pulled the arrow back so that it was lined up with the side of his chin as he took aim, his right arm shook ever so slightly as he held the arrow against his chin and took his time to aim. After a couple of moments of standing there he let his fingers go and sent the arrow along its path, the shaft whizzing along its trajectory towards the tree in the distance. But his arm had been trembling to much as he fired the arrow and it missed its intended target to embed itself somewhere deeper in the forest beyond his view, a single solitary word come from his mouth as it did "Fuck". @Aalam Abungu
Aalam was hunting, but he wasn’t hunting for prey this was more a quest for some herbs, there was a mixture he was making that could use a bit of thyme to add to the flavor. However, it seemed this world didn’t well do the traditional herbs that he was used to and well that wasn’t so much of a surprise as it was annoying. It did allow him to make some new flavors of drinks and that was something he enjoyed he was nowhere near the duke’s level of talent in those things, but that made more microbrews. He was working more on combinations, drink that got you drunk but was still able to go down lovely…. Well still go down and get him drunk was the primary goal if nothing else. He was in a bit of lucky however as just a second after he bent down to look at one of these exotic herbs and compare it to one that was recorded in his notebook and arrow whizzed past and embedded itself in the tree on his side. Placing the herb in his book and closing it with a thump securing the plant for examination later, as of right now there was work to be done. Walking over to the tree and pulling the arrow out of the bark and looking at the weapon. It was a decent enough arrow, but mass produced, there was no detail on the shaft or the fletching. It was balanced but could have been made better. The head was simple pressed iron into an arrowhead shape. This was newbie equipment good enough to get the job done but nothing more than that. Looking in the direction the arrow stuck out if it had been impaled into the wood from a straight angle, then it should be easy to follow the path to the archer. So he started this walk it shouldn’t take much time there was only so many places that had enough distance to make the shot. Equipping his long bow the black steel it was made of seemed to both reflect and absorb light, calling his quiver to his side feeling its familiar weight on his side. Twirling the arrow in his hand as he comes to the only person in a right amount of distance. Throwing the arrow back as his feet as he looked at the archer, yea and an archer was what he was if the bow was any indication. Walking out of the shade and into the light as he looked at the man. “You are a shitty shot; we are fixing that now. There are not enough archers in Terra for you to be a shitty shot.”
A growl of annoyance ripped from his throat as Tavion stood there looking in the direction that his arrow had flown in after he had missed his intended target, he had chosen a bow because he thought it would be a nice challenge to learn how to wield properly but he hadn't counted on it being this difficult. In all of the movies and anime that he had watched in the real world they had always made archery look extremely easy, like anyone could do it with just a little bit of effort but that certainly wasn't the case. It seemed like the bow was just as difficult to master as the sword would have been, a sword would have been the traditional weapon of the knight he wanted to be but he wanted to do things a little bit differently, a knight who used a bow. He lowered his eyes and looked at the weapon in his hand, it wasn't anything particularly special really just the common bow that the game will generate for you when you choose it as a starting weapon. There was nothing on it that made it stand out, it was just a long bow made from a pretty sturdy oak wood and a basic strong, it had no decorations of any kind nothing to make it look any different from all of the other bows like it in the world. Maybe he should do something about that, they say that if you care for and take care of your weapon then your weapon will return the favor and take care of you, but perhaps that was just something that they said in the books to try and sound cool, he didn't really see how a bow of this caliber could protect him for very long against the stronger creatures in this world. Suddenly his attention was drawn towards the sounds of something making its way through the brush, the sound of rustling leaves upon the air. Reaching back his fingers felt the feathered end of his arrow and took it in his grips before pulling the arrow from his quiver and placed its notch upon the string and narrowed his eyes in the direction that that sound was coming from, although he hesitated to draw it back. He doubted that even at this close of a range he could really hit anything if his last shot was to be anything to go off of but that wouldn't stop him from trying if whatever came out of the bushes proved to be hostile. What came out of the bushes was most definitely not what he was expecting it to be, it was a human and an archer if the bow in his hand was anything to go off of. Now THAT was a bow, it looked strong fiercesome like he would be able to use it to bring down a dragon, if this world even had dragons he wasn't exactly sure about that. He listened to the words of the man which caused him to grumble ever so slightly cause the man wasn't exactly wrong but he just didn't know how to get better without practicing "Okay, so what would you suggest then?"
There was a man pulling an arrow on him there were about seven people in terra right now that he was sure could either shot with him or outshoot him. He was damn well sure that this man was one of them come to think of it they were all females. Hmmm, that was something he was going to have to investigate one of this day. However not today, today he was going to been to teach a man how to accurately shoot an arrow. So even as he looked at the arrow that was pointed at the ground, he was looking at the equipment the man was using. It was the very basic but basic didn’t mean that it wasn’t well made, it seemed to be made of layering of wood bound together with a type of paste. Turning his attention to the archer himself, well a yladians that were new he hadn’t seen one of them for a long time. Time was changing, however, and the game was getting more players in recent weeks. For the most part, it was the job of those that had been playing the game for a bit. Pulling out his flask and taking a nice long drink, well that was a sweet mixture rye whiskey and mead, tasted like hell but was able to get him to that buzz point much quicker. Placing the flask back in his pocket as he thought about the question, he was asked walking around the man to get a look at his body type. Lean but there was muscles he was going need to work on his chest though and his arms also. He was fit, but he was using the wrong type of muscles when he was pulling the bow back. Taking the next swig from his flask as he made his way back to the front of the man. “Push-ups I would suggest push up but seeing as the game allows you to make an ideal character, a better suggestion would be just to draw the arrow back holding it for a few seconds before taking the tension off the line. Get used to the weight of the bow itself he better you get the more powerful bows you will use. It's good to get used to the strength required to hold one at full draw now rather than later.” Leaning under the shade of a particularly nice tree, working on the rest of the liquor in the container. “Well get to it then.”
Tavion stood there looking at the human male for a minute before he lifted his hand and replaced the arrow back into his quiver, since the human seemed as if he didn't intend to take any hostile course of action with him he figured that wouldn't need it. Standing there he watched as the human male pulled out a flash and took a long drink from it which caused him to narrow his eyes ever so slightly, so he was a drunk huh, great that would just be his luck though wouldn't it that the first person to come along and offer him any form of help what so ever would be a drunk human male. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he listened to the man for a moment, the logic behind what he had to say did make sense to him but at the same time was there really any way to increase his strength in this virtual world after he sculpted his avatar the way he had wanted it? Lowering his head he looked down at the long bow that was in his hands for a few moments, there was nothing special about the weapon in any form it was just what the game had given him when he had decided to use a bow as his starting weapon so there were more than likely a countless amount of others that were just like the one that he held in his hands. But just because it was the most basic of tier that he could possibly get in the game didn't mean that if he managed to get some training and accuracy with the weapon that it wouldn't serve its purpose all the same. Reaching down he ran his fingers along the string that was strung on the bow and flicked at it causing an audible 'twang' to be heard, something that showed just how tight that it was pulled and why it gave so much force when firing off its arrow and allowed them to reach the distance that they could. The human man had told him to practice pulling the bowstring back and relaxing it over and over again, he didn't think that this would increase what his virtual muscles were capable of handling but it did make sense if he was trying to get his avatars body and muscles familiar with the feeling of pulling back the string and he supposed that that alone would have some merit in the long run. Taking a deep breathe in he gripped the bowstring in his fingers and pulled it back until the bowstring was back near his ear before he slowly relaxed his arm and took another deep breathe before he repeated the action again and again, he had to admit that he felt like a complete fool while he did it and was starting to wonder if the human was having him do this as some form of joke and was getting a good laugh at him on the inside. But after a few minutes of doing this he noticed that the action started to feel more familiar to him, it didn't seem to take as much effort to pull the string back as it had when he first started, there was no way that he would have been able to increase his strength in anyway in that short amount of time so what exactly was it that was going on? That was when he realized it, from his repeated actions he was starting to break in the bow itself, no longer was it rigid and new from not being used but the wood itself was starting to bend more easily from it having been repeatedly forced to, kind of like how a new pair of shoes felt more natural on your feet the longer that you wear them and the material that they were made from had some more give into it. A smile spread across his face as he looked down at the bow in his hand starting to gain a new appreciation for the weapon itself, this was the weapon that was going to save his life on many occasions until he had advanced enough to get a more powerful one later on during his journey. Turning his attention back to the human male he chuckled softly to himself, so maybe his first impression of the man being nothing more than a drunk had been wrong "So got any other tips for a rookie player?"
Aalam watched the man; he could see the disbelief on his face well that was unsurprising after all he had just told a man to do something that went against familiar video game logic. It was a damn shame that Terra did work as a standard video game; it was like a second life. And with all things in life practice was the key to getting it perfect after all they why the saying existed. So, he sat there and drank until the flask was empty and then he took out another one. At least he had respect for the weapon by the way he was looking at the bow if he hadn’t well then Aalam was going to waste his time helping the man. He had learned the hard way back then before there were that much archers in Terra. It was just a small few trying to reach the height that the greatest at the time Lady Gwyn had reached. He remembered the first time he saw her in action it was a thing of beauty. She might have been able to shoot the stars out of the sky if she was focused on it. However, he hasn’t heard high nor low of her in recent times. She would be back. However, the game tends to call them back. He was going to have to be ready for when that happened after all they were to have a duel of archers one day. Turning his attention back to the man as he the twang of a proper bowstring, it was a sound that he would never forget in all his life. It was a part of him at this point now, and it was one of the few things that he was able to focus on as the days go by. The pure twang of a bow as an arrow was released and flew into its target. Well, hopefully, this new one won’t turn out like him after everything that he had done his bowstring would always have that iron like smell. He would never be clean but that was something he could live with after all it was a path that he had chosen. It seemed he was taking the advice and was doing the work. Everyone assumed that the point of his was just physical training and while that was important there was more to it. The bow had to get used to being used, and the archer had to get used to having proper form. Even now as he was doing the exercise he wasn’t pulling right, his focus was just in his arms and not using all his muscles. But at least he bows was getting more us it would take some time, but he would get there. Drinking do the rest of his second flask as the walked over to the man, taking his bow off his shoulder as he took a stance inside of him. Taking out one of his bows and showing the man what he meant. “You’re still using your arms to pull back the length of the bow, that’s not all there is you need to use all of your upper body. Your bow is taking power from your body and transfers that to your arrow. That arrow becomes an extension of yourself it is your will and power to smite what would have lied out of your reach now brought to heel.” Nocking an arrow and pulling it back as he took aim at the target the rookie had set out and began to shoot. Four shots in rapid session each one place right in the bull’s eye. “Your goal is to hit that target before we leave today and you will either hit it, or I will run out of liquor and decide you’re not worth my help anymore. So, get shooting.”
