Her eyebrows fled into her hairline at Aalam’s news. If a Duke was missing, shouldn’t there be a search party out looking for them? Shouldn’t Aalam have been out looking for him? He seemed nonchalant about it, mentioning that there was someone whom oversaw all Seto’s estates. That was good, at the very least. It meant the people were getting paid…granted, they’d now be free from their binds once Astor’s proclamation went through.
She blushed and glanced away from him when he kissed her hand. She hadn’t been expecting that. Physical affection was still something that was difficult for the Knight, especially coming from the opposite gender. But Aalam meant well, of course, and like Luna had said, she just had to be exposed to it more often, then she’d become okay with it.
Save your life? You looked like you were doing fine on the wall, Ezra murmured, a light chuckle coming from her.
His hesitation concerning her name didn’t go unnoticed. Her smile drooped a little and she steepled her fingers together, trying to think about how exactly to explain her thought process behind changing her name Lucia knew and understood, but others…well, it would probably be difficult for others to give her the same leniency.
I…yeah. I changed my name recently. She cleared her throat, nodding to herself. Good start, good start. More because, well, ever since my first death, I haven’t felt like…Savannah. I dunno, it’s hard to explain. She was…amazing, in her own right, but I’m…different now. So, I took a new name, to…solidify that. She winced, knowing the words sounded silly, but it was the best explanation she could offer at the time.
The atmosphere between them changed the moment Aalam brought out the flowers and food. Again, Ezra realized that she hadn’t nibbled on anything before she logged into the game and her stomach gave a mighty growl. She gently patted it, as if that would calm the sudden hunger pains that swept through her.
Oh, those flowers are beautiful Aalam. Where do you find them all? She leaned forward, gently picking up the vase and lifting the flowers to her nose. Inhaling, she sighed at the scent that invaded her nostrils and gave a slow nod of her head. She had never considered herself a woman in love with flowers until Aalam had started bringing them to her. Now, she couldn’t get enough of them.
Oh, Lucia is doing well, actually. She didn’t seem worried in the least…unless she’s not telling me the whole story, but I doubt it. She’s very forthcoming with her feelings. The Undead look to her as their leader anyway so I doubt having or not having the King’s title behind her name would matter much to them.
