    Dire Assistance

As you walk through Adecus Forest, you find yourself slowly approaching the wide river that divides the forest into two. It had rained a bit lately, and the water was moving faster than usual, which meant it probably wasn't a good idea to cross via rocks. Looking to your left and right, you spot a young girl pacing anxiously by the river, something obviously the matter as she glances up every now and then at something in the water, before looking around anxiously. This is how she spots you, and with much urgency, she runs over.

"P-Please, I need your help," She begs, pointing out into the water, "My Mini-Pet Usami and I were out exploring for Mystery Eggs, when we came to this river. It was fine for a couple minutes, but n-next thing I knew... Well, see for yourself."

A quick glance at the water would reveal a small and strange looking bunny, sitting atop of a singular rock. It was completely drenched and shaking like a leaf, absolutely terrified of what was yet to come. The water around it tossed up dangerously, just threatening to knock the bunny over, "If you help me, I'll award you for your bravery. Please." The water was rushing pretty fast, but it shouldn't be too hard for an adventurer to reach the little bunny. Besides, what could go wrong?

    What do you do?
Oh no! Usami is stuck in the river, and Kit being a lowly npc, needs an adventurers help. Using your prayers to RNGesus and the roll of a dice (100), your first post needs to be a combination of an attempt to rescue the bunny (200 words minimum) plus a roll. From there onward, every 30 minutes, you can roll once more. This thread shall be open until midnight EST or until my special number, 77/100 is hit. If 77 or 100 isn't hit, then the highest roll shall be awarded with a mystery egg of their choice from Kit. Oh, and if you hurt Usami, your post is automatically void.
    Happy rolling!~

Remember, if you already won a mystery egg in the past 2 weeks, Kit will ignore you. Thank you!~

  2. Jack couldn’t help but feel a bit sympathetic towards the bunny that had been waylaid in the river. The poor thing was essentially trapped atop the rock and shivering due to the cold and moisture. Though not particularly skilled himself at physical activities such as these, he felt partially obligated to assist due to his own profession in reality stepping up during natural disasters as well. Rather than hesitating or pondering on the situation for too long, he’d nod towards the girl once while surveying the surrounding area for a rather large stick of sorts.

After securing a branch that fit his ideal requirements, he’d thrust the branch forward, only to find that it was perhaps shorter than he had originally intended or needed. “That’s no good… I’ll need something larger.” It was then that the man remembered the long length of rope that he had previously stored in his inventory due to a few prior mishaps that had occurred in the raid. “You think he’ll hold still so I can lasso it around his body?” Unsure of the result, he’d simply tie a knot to perform as needed before swinging it calmly in the air for several seconds. With a might toss, he’d close his eyes and pray that his aim would strike true rather than strike the bunny.

  3. It wasn’t often that a skill deemed more or less useless by other players FINALLY had a chance to shine. Indeed, with all the NPCs capable of managing a ship, some players had laughed at The Admiral’s choice to take up novice seafaring as a skill. But now there was a chance for him to really prove himself as a hero, putting every ounce of his dedication, bravado, skill and energy into… saving… a… trapped… bunny? Whatever. Cats and trees or bunnies and rivers, if a damsel needed saving then the Admiral was your man!

Finding a fisherman’s wharf not too far upstream, he paid an NPC to rent the vessel and climbed within it, taking oars in hand, and set off down the water’s way to ensnare the hare that was caught there, to liberate its master from the throes of disaster. The boat was rocky and unwieldy considering the lack of skill he held and the lack of practice he had, but he was sure that with a little bit of luck and a lot of gumption he’d be able to safely capture the bunny.

“Fret not, dear kit! I’ll be back in a bit.” He chuckled to himself and maneuvered toward the rock, setting the oar in the ship so as not to break it on the stones and to free his hands up for grabbing the rabbit which, it appeared, another person was trying to hang with a noose and drag through the water. To each their own.

  4. It was close but no cigar. Despite Jack’s efforts, the rope had landed snugly around the base of the rock the furry rabbit was seated upon. Upon pulling gently however for the lasso to tighten upon the creature, it simply raised its little bunny paws in order to step over the rope. Perhaps it didn’t quite understand what the man was trying to do and simply sought to preserve its own wellbeing. An exasperated sigh sounded from the man as he’d press a hand against his face to relieve a bit of stress. To be fair, he should’ve expected that to happen.

Rather than moping over his failure however, he’d instead quietly reflect while staring at the coursing river. “Perhaps the best way isn’t to use external forces… but to rather enable the rabbit to save itself?” He’d nod once as if saying something profound before a determined glint flickered in his eyes once more. Pausing for a moment to initiate a spell cast, he’d spew out an incantation under his breath while targeting the rabbit itself. A warm tingle of holy light would surge into the creature, imbuing it with greater strength and speed. Hopefully the bunny would be smart enough to realize that it could simply save itself and leap out.

  5. Coming across the flustered NPC, she was quick to set her sharp sights on the poor rabbit. She sighed faintly around a breath and sucked her teeth as she listened to the woman's words and took in the peril situation. The water had a swift current to it that churned up the white foam. It frothed and roiled as if boiling from the speed and the rocks it slammed into on its way downriver. The ranger rolled up her sleeves and nodded firmly to herself. She couldn't very well leave this alone!

She cracked her knuckles as she thought, piecing together a cobbled together plan that would hopefully be enough to reach the poor, drenched thing. Gwyn pulled an arrow from her inventory and took in the woods around. A smattering of vines in the dark of the trees caught her eye and she hastily tore down what she could. With deft hands she wove the vines together into a thick cord. It wasn't master craftsmanship by any means at all, but it would hold. With a furious shove she slammed the lone arrow into the trunk of a tree and knotted one end of her vine rope to it, using her own body weight as leverage to tighten it.

As she returned to the water's side she took a steadying breath and tied the vines around her belt with enough loose room to get close to the rock and grab the small pet, but not enough free rope that the river could carry her farther down should she slip. With that she cooed lowly toward the pet and waded in, relying on her athletic build and a lifetime of outdoors experience in the real world to carry her through.

  6. Mahlthor was wandering the forest just looking for something to do, seeing what all there was to see in this game. Having yet to spend too much time in any of the social areas, he decided to wander the forest after freshly logging in for the first time. As game-luck would have it, sure enough he found something. Not... not quite the kind of thing he *expected* to find, but hey! It was something!

Hey, I totally have some air magic. Mahlthor notes to himself mentally. Let me take a look, maybe there's something here I can use.

Flipping open the magic menu with the flip of his wrist, he pauses to scroll through the list of spells available to someone as low-levelled as he. After a moment of mental argument against game mechanics/physics, he settles on a spell to try.

Wind Gust: A spell designed to increase the movement speed of it's caster. Well, couldn't hurt to try, could it? Tagging the icon, suddenly control of Mahlthor's limbs is taken from him; they begin to move of their own accord, drawing arcane symbols in the air as esoteric words escape his character's lips.

A soft breeze blows from behind him, and he feels himself grow just slightly lighter. Ok, I can work with this. I think.

Backing up a few steps, Mahlthor takes a running start, launching himself in an attempt to make it across the river to the bunny.

  7. No, no that plan hadn’t quite worked. As soon as he’d come into range of the rabbit the mysterious lassoer across the river cast a spell which seemed to enhance it with a holy aura, allowing it to simply hop vertically well above his arm’s length, preventing him from catching it before the boat passed by and he was forced to come about. That was easier said than done however, for fighting the current was a difficult process and wouldn’t allow him to try snatching the hare. Another thought occurred to him, a stupider thought, that he could perhaps just carry the boat back upstream and try again. Try as many times as it took, damn it! He didn’t give a hay penny jizz about the stupid pixelated rabbit, what he wanted was that girl’s adoration and to tell all her friends and townsfolk about how brave and dashing he’d been. He needed that attention, damn it!

Landing the small dinghy upon the shore, he began to drag it upstream again and then shoved off into the water, jumping in to set proverbial sail towards his own private Charybdis. Truly, the stuff of legends. Saluting Jack, he set a boot upon the side of the ship and took a Captain Morgan stance, letting the current carry him back towards the rabbit for another try at things. But first, he’d have to try not to hit the woman who had just showed up, wading into the water in search of the rabbit with nothing but a vine-crafted safety cord to keep her from being swept away. Ah well, worst case scenario he could just… row after her, if the cord broke. Her and the guy literally leaping for the rabbit. What was this circus show?

  8. Despite Jack’s well calculated efforts, it didn’t seem as though the rabbit was too interested in preserving itself after all. Regardless of the fact that it had been enabled to take action and to become its own savior, the creature simply sat there idly while the man scratched his head in confusion. “This bloody little bastard! All it has to do is hop and it’d find safety on his own… Cmon world!” His cry of frustration echoed out into the empty air as he’d simply rub the back of his head while continuing to brainstorm.

It was then that a light bulb had appeared upstairs and the dark haired man had found enlightenment. The rabbit had all the tools it needed right? Perhaps all that was left was a bit of encouragement or motivation in order to egg the creature into believing in itself. As silly as it seemed, he’d call out to the creature in order to beckon it to come to him. “Cmon lil Usami! You can do it! Uncle Jack’s got some tasty treats over here once you cross the river! You don’t have to believe in yourself! Believe in the me that believes in you!” He’d groan internally at the blatantly ripped dialog he had once heard before in an anime.

  10. Hands deeply pushed into his pocket Rein casually strolled down a rather empty trail somewhere within the heart of Acedus. With the babbling river nearby, and birds chirping Rein could understand how one might enjoy this type of trail, but it made his skin crawl. Every chirp, every drip, was like a nail to his fingertips. The only reason this pathway was worth traversing was the fact that occasionally Rein could pick off the randomly lost traveler. So far, however, Rein hadn't seen anyone worth killing. Yet.

Lost in thought Rein almost didn't even notice when out of nowhere a somewhat attractive girl came up to him with a plea. It seemed her stupid pink rabbit thing was stuck in the middle of the river, and she begged Rein for her help. He was tempted to just kill her on the spot. He didn't have time for such nonsense; he had players to find and torture. He moved to turn away before he caught sight of the pathetic thing, huddled on a rock, sniffling in fear. What a beautiful sight it was. With a loud cackling laugh, Rein snapped his fingers towards the rabbit sending out a bolt of cascading electricity, which might knock it clean over to the other side, or knock it into the water. Rein didn't care either way; he just wanted to add to the things suffering.

  12. “God damnit!” Despite all of Jack’s efforts the rabbit left him feeling even more depressed than before. Considering how the creature didn’t have any faith in Jack or his belief in the rabbit, he found it rather insulting. Or perhaps he was simply overthinking it since the little woodland creature more likely than not simply couldn’t understand him? That was probably the most likely explanation. That said, the man’s logic and reasoning had slowly begun to decay bit by bit as he’d shake his head wearily while concocting a new plan. He was starting to run out of ideas, as was his buff to expire soon. Though simply recasting it would fix the latter issue, it wouldn’t change the fact that he needed another spark of inspiration before continuing his attempts.

It was then that yet another idea hit the man. Slamming his fist against an open palm, he’d let out a quiet “ah ha” while grinning curiously. Rather than making the rabbit willingly hop over with positive reinforcement, why not use negative reinforcement? As he’d begin to cast yet another spell, he’d envision something scary, something intimidating for the little creature. A life like and rather realistic wolf would materialize from his holy magic and let out a terrifying howl. Though normally a buff to inspire his comrades, he’d use it to instead scare the bunny into leaping to safety.

  13. ... yeah, he really shouldn't have expected that to work.

With a resounding SPLASH Mahlthor lands face first in the raging water. But do you think that he would let that stop him? You don't know Mahlthor very well, do you? Despite having to fight upstream, Mahlthor takes advantage of the spell he cast and fights vigorously against the current.

It is a desperate struggle against the current. Not only for the digital lootz, but at this point, he himself could very well be in danger! Hard as the current alone is to struggle against, tree limbs and smaller debris rush passed him, making his swim all the more difficult. But Mahlthor digs deep, finding somehow the reserves to make progress against the current.

  14. Kit

    Kit

    Congrats, Mahlthor! Your prize is...

As adventurers came, each tried their best to save the pesky little Usami out on the rock, but not one seemed to be successful... Until Mahlthor came along. As he swims up to Usami, the little bunny very carefully climb onto him in safety, waiting to be taken back to shore. And once they both arrived there, Kit took the bunny from him gratefully, placing her in her scarf so she could nestle up and get warm.

"Thank you so very much, adventurer. I would never have been able to save Usami without you," Kit said, looking up at him with a big, cheery smile and tears in her eyes. There also seemed to be a hint of mischievousness, as if it was planned... But before any questions could be spoken, she reached into her pink cat bag, pulling out three different eggs for you to choose from.

You have a choice from three eggs. These eggs are preset and will be available during all of Kit's posts, so do not worry too much about your selection.

Cute Mystery Egg - This egg is a soft pink colour and sparkles a little bit in the sunlight. Tied around it is a pink ribbon that doesn’t seem to want to come off until it hatches. Makes you want to give it all the cuddles. (Obtained via the breeder. Gives 1 of 6 possible pets)

Creepy Mystery Egg - This egg is jet black, and gives off a bad aura the closer you get to it. Actually, it seems to also be giving off some kind of smoke, but it doesn’t smell like normal smoke nor clog up the airways. Looks safe… Right? (Obtained via the breeder. Gives 1 of 6 possible pets)

Mystical Mystery Egg - This egg is light and airy, and very gives off a very soothing aura the closer you get to it. It’s a soft blue colour and although it’s very plain, something about it makes it almost more enticing than the rest. (Obtained via the breeder. Gives 1 of 6 possible pets)

    But wait... There's more?

"Oh, I have this egg as well. It seems to only pop up during the summer, so I only have a limited supply." And with that, Kit pulls out a fourth egg and puts it behind the other three.

Every season, Kit will have a Limited Edition egg. It will only be available on random Mystery Egg posts, and it's limited to one per person per season.

Sandy Mystery Egg - This egg is sandy to the touch, but only on the bottom. The colour seems to fade from a light blue to a sandy brown, from the top to the bottom. It also gives off a very distinct smell of the sea when you sniff it. (Obtained via the breeder. Gives 1 of 4 possible pets. Limited Edition. Soul Bound)
