The dark look disappearing from her face; Lai'ordi offered a smile. She had continued to act as Elyssa despite coming into the game to become her True Self, the name given to her not out of respect...but out of fear. Lai'ordi, meaning Pridewalker. Continuing along the trail she couldn't help but laugh with the man. Where ever Mortemer lead she would follow, the pact had been made. In the moment of the duo's temporary insanity she found a goal, giggling further along with the red head. She reached over and tapped his shoulder, forming a devious grin. "I think I found my goal..." she stated, breaking through the laughter. Taking another calming breath she stood tall. "I'm going to make the people of this world fear my name, like the tribesfolk in the wilds do." she claimed, her ruby eyes glimmering with maleficence. Turning to look at the redhead she nodded and motioned for him to continue on the trail, to lead the way. "I believe we already are Mortemer." the words she spoke ringing true. at the beginning she may have felt off about him, but that was her soft side, her Human side. In here, she wasn't even human, so she had an excuse to play something more. A Demon.
Mortemer looked over his shoulder at Lai, a wicked smile spread across his face and a look of lunacy in his eyes. "I like you. I'm gonna have fun with you around." he looked forward and hurried his pace into a march. He felt empowered, like nothing was going to stop him. He hadn't felt this alive since he was young tasting blood. He couldn't see the smile on his face disappearing for a long time, and for that, he was glad. Things were usually so dull. Whenever he killed someone they'd never fight back, mostly cause he took them by surprise, but all they would do is scream and writhe on the ground. Some of the people he killed almost weren't worth the effort he put in, but this time it was different. He'd never once thought about what it would be like if his victims put up a fight. The thought sent chills down his spine, filling him with anticipation. Mortemer started to walk faster, even though he was trying to preach patience. His tendencies began to act up again. If he didn't do something about it now he'd be going on a rampage later. At that moment, he noticed a rabbit that was unfortunate enough to cross his path, and so close to him as well. He quickly snatched it up by the scruff of its neck and put its throat firmly into his hands. With one quick and forceful motion, he'd snapped the rabbit's neck and tossed its carcass aside. Mortemer took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly. "That felt good." he said through his breath. He began to slow down to the calm walking pace he had before, and was now leisurely walking through the woods.
Unfazed by the expression on the redheads face, Lai'ordi only kept her confident stature and look as she watched the man nearly sprint off like a wind up toy twisted up. It was only a game after all, she could do whatever she wanted. Of course there would be consequences, yet she didn't care. If she kept this guy in check, long enough for them to grow in power. They could run rampant with nothing to stop them. A sly smirk forming she eyed Mortemer. They could be the rulers of a new world. Controlled by organized destruction. As she followed him she let the breeze sweep over her body to cool her off, rather than get all excited she controlled herself. Thinking of how they would begin their plans. Awaking from her thoughts as she was alerted to a small squeak, looking up she frowned and moved to the man's side. "Are you stupid?, you shouldn't kill animal's for sport, you should only kill them for needs." Lightly chastising her partner she bended over and picked up the lump of meat, adding the future meal to her inventory with a few flicks of her wrist. "Luckily, soon enough we'll need it." she stated. Regaining pace with her party leader she calmly walked by him, her ears perked up, waiting for more sounds of critters. So she could extend their meal. "So, what's your story Mortemer. You don't seem like you're playing a role, or a character. You seem genuinely...well. Insane." She stated bluntly, wanting to gain more information on her new found friend.
"I did kill it out of necessity." he said walking backwards for a bit. "I killed it so I wouldn't go on a murderous rampage." he said turning around and continuing. "Besides, if I wanted to kill something for food I'd put some real effort into it." Mortemer held his hands behind his back. He walked a little bit slower listening to the forest around him. After he'd killed that rabbit, everything had gotten quiet. It would pick back up eventually. "There's really not much to say about who I am. I'm definitely not as interesting a person as you are. But if I had to tell you anything, I'd say that I grew up in a small town with my parents and I worked in the cemetery they owned. People kept comin' in to rob graves so my dad told me I could get rid of them however. So, next time I saw a baddie, I happened to have a sickle in my hand and I couldn't think of any other way to get rid of the guy at the time, so I offed him and put six feet under. Stuff like this happened for a while and I eventually developed..." Mortemer thought for a moment to think of an appropriate word to use. "'Outbursts', we'll say, and just killed people like it was part of my job as a caretaker." Mortemer had never really thought about it, but if there was anything that would turn a person into a murderous psychopath, it would be how he grew up.
Listening to his reasoning Lai'ordi let out a sigh and nodded in understanding. "Fine, just make sure you don't drag us into anything crazy." She stated, with a unwavering strength in her voice. "For now, only go for small things. Like rabbits, snakes, birds, even raccoons. Or similar creatures if this world has such fantasy beings that is." Speaking her peace she let Mortemer take it anyway he desired. At least she could say 'I told you so' if he didn't listen to her. Keeping the same speed as the man Lai'ordi eagerly heard his story, her tail swaying back and forth like before. As if reacting to her excitements and anxieties. Taking in a breath she couldn't help but smirk. "Well, you're right. Nothing crazy like what happened to me. But still nothing another person can say." She spoke, commenting on the story he gave. "So, from that I can take you're in this for fun." Laughing a bit she gazed at him. "Then we should try and be as powerful as we can be, that way we can baffle people as to why we do what we do!" She cackled evilly. Letting the joke take it's toll over the two she got serious once more. "So, we should try and find someone. Ask for a map, or directions to civilization. While I'm not fond of the idea, it could be an easy way to find something to strive for."
"Have you ever heard of following the direction that moss is growing on the side of a rock? I figure we could just do that to find civilization." he said, not really concerned about getting proper directions. "I don't really know if I'd say I'm doing this for "fun". It's more that I'm doing it for a fresh experience. Killing people and not getting much out of it will have that good feeling you get while you're doing it for so long, you know?" Mortemer was quiet for a moment. He thought about what Lai said about killing small stuff, but having limits wasn't that appealing to him. "More than likely I'll kill whatever I can get my hands on. Doesn't really matter what it is. Just has to be something killable, really." Mortemer stopped at a ledge. The ledge was a steep drop off. Across the way was a ledge similar to the one he was standing on. It seemed to be relatively within jumping distance, although he wasn't sure if he would make it across the gap. He backed up a bit so he could get a running start and leaped over the gap, just barely landing on the other side. He turned and waited for Lai to cross the gap after him.
Placing a hand against her head Lai'ordi winced as the man revealed his way of navigation. "Are you stupid?" she asked the rapidly reoccurring question. Moving on from the almost comedic situation the feline girl formed a grin. "Oh?, I guess that is where we differ. I don't kill animals for sport, I kill monsters for sport." Stating her confession she shifted her ruby gaze to the red head. "Wouldn't you say humans classify as monsters?." She asked his opinion. "After all, they only destroy everything to benefit themselves. Hiding behind their laws and media, controlling everything with lies. At least people like us own our darkness." "as long as it's within our power I don't mind." she stated calmly, watching as the man jumped the gap with relative ease. Following suit, Lai'ordi took off sprinting. The wind rushing past her as she picked up speed. Pushing off the ledge with her foot her heart sank as she felt the earth beneath her foot crumble. "AAAAAAAAAH!" Letting out the yell, more annoyed than scared. She lunged for the other side, just barely grasping the edge. Breathing rapidly and frantically she peered down into the crevice below her, letting out a sigh she looked back up to Mortemer. "Mind giving me a hand?" she asked, feeling the earth she grasped loosen from her weight. "I rather not have to try and find you again, even with the party information." she mumbled, a bit frustrated she made such a mistake. Once she got more powerful in her abilities and her physical prowess wasn't blocked like it was now she would be able to pass trivial things like the cliff with ease.
Mortemer grabbed Lai's arm and pulled her up onto the ledge. "I'd say humans could be either or. I mean, look at beavers. They destroy stuff for their benefit and nobody cares about that. I mean, sure we've got media and all that good stuff, but beavers are wrecking the environment! And that's just one of the animals that wreck stuff for survival." he said, stopping his rant about animals to press on. He began to wonder how long they'd actually been walking, and why they hadn't found anybody that could give them directions. He was beginning to lose faith in the moss. "You think we're gonna find somebody that'll give us directions any time soon?" he asked over his shoulder. Surely civilization couldn't be that far away. Then again, he didn't have any clue how far away the forest was from civilization nor in what part of the forest he'd spawned in. The way things were, it was like a big guessing game where things mattered.
The man grabbing her by the arm Lai took a relieving breath, if he had wanted her dead that would have been a perfect moment to do so. "Thanks." Moving away from the edge her ruby gaze scanned the area, a breaking in the forest not to far ahead. "If we were to find a someone that could do that, it would be in an open area like that." She pointed out her find. "But..." Interrupting Mortemer before he could even speak; the girl held out her hand, forming a fist she quickly reopened it. Opening her status panel. Her hunger gauge was getting below half, which would not bode well. "Go find us some food, I'll gather kindling." She stated, planning to make a fire and cook the rabbit she had previously added to her inventory. "Before looking for others beings I'd prefer to have our status maxed as possible." Acting as the survivalist that she was Lai began rearranging stones, forming a small circle. Under normal circumstances the huntress would have taken the role of hunter with pleasure but with her partner's...issue. it would be smart to allow him to vent before finding people.
Mortemer stopped and thought for a moment. Now that Lai had put food on his mind, he wasn't really sure when the last time he'd eaten was. He didn't think he'd eaten since before he started playing this game. He opened his menu and checked his info. Sure enough, his hunger had depleted a decent bit. Although he was admittedly hungry, he'd never had wild animal before. It would be interesting to try, but his main concern was that it would suit his pallet. Mortemer stepped off the trail for a bit saying "Be back in a while." over his shoulder in search of dinner. Soon, he found a comfortable looking stump to sit on a decent way away from Lai. Once he got comfortable, he sat perfectly still, letting the ambiance of nature envelope him. After a while, animals began to approach him. Squirrels would sit on his legs, rabbits would come by his feet every now and then, and birds would perch on his knees shoulders and head. For each animal that approached him, Mortemer would swiftly catch, kill, and store them. He did this for a decent while until he had a heft amount of cookable food in his inventory. When he was finished catching dinner, he returned to Lai and the campfire. He opened up his inventory and with a smile, dumped all of the animals he'd caught onto the ground. He then plopped himself onto the ground waiting for a meal and decent rest.
