    quest Settlement under Attack

    Difficulty: Hard
    Party Size: 11

    Location: Pormont
    Season: Summer

Having explored the lands of Pormont, many investors would look to establish new cities in the once populated lands. But since the sudden shift in monsters and changes to the lands; it seemed near impossible. That was until a brave few found an old ruin. Making it their home as they started up their small settlement there. All seemed well for a few months; that was until the Knolls returned. Since then the small settlement has been raided over and over contiuously by a fairly large band of Knolls.

Try as they might, they simply do not have the man power, let alone resources to continue to fend them off. After the last raid and nearly being wiped out they've cried out pleading to Stokbon for help; but given the amount of resource, traveling expenses and overall lack of expendable men. They city has refused to aid them beyond the small unit of unseasoned fresh recruits, sent to help evacuate the settlement and bring them back to stokbon and set up a refugee location until the matter can be resolved.

Not wanting to give up their home, dreams and all they've invested in the last few months. The primary investors of the settlement alongside it's people have turned their hopes to the guild hall, asking for anyone caring and heroic enough to take the call; especially granted their lack of funds to pay. It was through such a group these villagers found The Heroes of Falderen and sought out their help, requesting their aid and fast. The raids usualy happen around sundown and the carrier bird had arrived late in the night at the guild hall. Informing the guild master Steele so he may have some time to prep for the mision on hand; having accepted it on behalf of his guild.

    General Data:

The Grass knolls vary based on skill and class; they are highly territorial and it's believed these ruins were once the home of the nomadic pack. Having returned for whatever reason, the seem hell bent on slaughtering all who reside there. These short tempered and rather aggresive creatures are not to be taken lightly, as their blood lust is only second nature to their pack mentality. So taking on such a large band of Knolls is not easy, it's often recommended to split them up and take them on in small groups if not solo them out.

Although combat is inevitable, the main priority should be to protect the settlement and it's people. Those not involved in combat directly, should be helping to prepare traps, guiding people to safety and fortify the main defenses of settlement's main base. The villagers of the city are not very handy when it comes to combat; but they are quick learners and large enough in numbers that they could help with traps and crafting. So long as one is trained enough in the skill they'd be instructing.

    Objectives:

    • Defend the Settlement.
    • Defeat the Knoll Leader or enough of his members.

    DC 715

Anyone with Pyromancy can benefit from +10 per relevant tier (if they use it instead of their highest Mastery).

    Instruction:
    • Everyone in this guild gets ONLY one reply.
    • Everyone must roll a d100 at the end of their post.
    • The entire guild needs a combined dice roll totaling the DC above to succeed this mission.
    • The modifier is based on the highest mastery your character has, +5 per relevant mastery tier (starting from Novice).
    • There must be 11 rolls total. It doesn't matter who rolls, so long as they are part of the guild.

  2. As Aaron, had received word from the guild hall about a settlement in need of help off in pormont he'd be quick to see just what it was; knowing how rough it was over there he didn't want to waste too much time. His guild being fairly large, despite being filled with less seasoned players was still one with dedication and conviction; so it would come to no surprise that a guild full of want to be heroes would take the cause and show up. As such he'd send a guild message to all members online currently and who would log on the next day; with the location and details of where to meet up.

    Mail

Hey guys, it's Guild Master Steele. We've got our first guild mission. It takes place tomorrow, I know a bit short notice but it is mandatory, I have sent this to the members who I think might best benefit from joining this task. Don't be surprised if you were invited and not a combatant.

I need those with all sorts of skills, to aid and help the settlement. Our enemies are Grass Knolls, these god awful creatures who are highly territorial. They have been raiding and attack this settlement and quite frankly they are not likely to survive much longer. From the gist of what I read; they have no support and what little they have is from Stokbon and only to help bring them to a refugee camp.

These folks don't want to lose and be forced to give up everythigng they have, they've worked for and their dreams. But they don't process the financial backing to hire help. I know it's a lot to ask you all to put your lives on the line for these folks. But I trust you all will make the right decision. I'm marking the map with your coordinates. [ Here ]

I'd like @Mahlthor Oakenheart , @Sera Phim , @Akino Kokoro Ame , @Isolt Veera and @Rye Emerson to please meet me at the village at noon to discuss what's going on. Everyone else should be there no later than 1 pm. I want to start preparing the area for the oncoming battle; maedon't be late.
    ~Aaron Steele

Having sent out the message in the dead of night tman would appear at the meeting spot; in the small ruined settlement in pormont. His lips parting once those requested arrived he'd exhale heavily and begin to speak.
"Thanks for showing up, I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure we will do fine. The raids usually happen around sundown we don't have much time, but with what time we do have I'd like to make a few things clear. I need everyone to give their A game. I've chosen to meet with you all earlier than the others as you've all shown the most interest or dedication in what we are doing. As such I will need you to help give out tasks for us.

I need you all to help set up our army as well as those brave enough to fight along side us from the settlement. Preston here, informs me his men need a good minute of training. So one of you will need to do that, another will have to help train the front line to take a hit; especially a magical one. Then I'll need someone to help craft potions and bombs to throw from a far; create poisons for the archers and so forth. The men here are fairly inexperienced with archery, so I need someone to do that too. But lastly, we need to make sure these men are properly equipped, so I need someone with a keen eye to check the weapons and armors." He'd say as he dismissed them, sometimes passing he'd stand before the rest of his guild who decided to show up.

"Well, today is the day. We fight here with honor, to protect and save as many lives as we can. This will be no easy task. I implore you to do what you do best, but do not be reckless or half ass it. I want you all to do anything you can to help. My crafters should be aiding in crafting, my builders should be building and helping with traps, my healers should be in the back healing our tanks. Our tanks need to protect the front lines, Our mages, beside our healers casting buffs and spells. Our rangers, I want lining about the city high on the roof tops and our warriors. I want you to be the bastards who fuck up any who get past our tanks and think they can touch our ranged folk.

Ultimately this is a risky adventure, but no hero is remembered for easy tasks. No, today we'll be remembered for being the fools that died trying to save these folks, or we'll be remembered the heroes who succeded. Which you plan to be is solely up to you. I'd like to remind you all that even if you think your actions don't matter, they do. As such I'd love to see you all succeed today and live to fight another day; if you can. Help people get to safety, protect the citizens and most importantly, protect yourselves.

Those of you not in the front line, I wish you luck. Those of you in the front line like myself, call out your need for heals, there is no shame in needing to be healed; another will aid or myself will heal you. I'd rather your pride take a hit then you die. To be clear though, they say Knolls are a weird enemy. If enough are defeated and they feel they will lose they will back off; if their leader is slain they will fall apart and disband. So if you can take out their boss do, therwise let's focus on protecting the city and slaying who we can. Team work is a mustwith these enemies."

As his speech finished and he allotted enough time for them to work; reinforcing the city; putting up defenses and giving them a short thirty-minute break before the big fight to gather their strength back he'd look to the sun setting. Hoping everyone was in place; the citizens were fully moved and heading to safety. He'd expect the epic battle to begin. As the first signs of the enemy arrived over the horizon he'd hunker down and raise his shield. His sword cocked back he'd prepare to haul ass and charge in, thankfully the band of knolls made their move first. Hearing the whimpering of the men before him he'd grin and shout, "I'll Sooner Die than let harm come down upon you all. I am the Vessel of Tyl and I will protect you all or die trying." with his words complete he'd charge psych himself up and shout, "FOR FALDEREN!" he'd shout as the two forces clashed.

His shield bashing a beast in the face would soon lead to his blade hacking down at the back side of another before spinning to back slash at another; his body moving gracefully about as he slammed hard into his enemy keeping them back or weakening them significantly. His skills in his sword play and shield work were adept, his healing proficient as he cast what he needed to help those near him. Keeping his eyes on his men he'd boost forth slamming into the enemy. Yet despite the odds; it seemed they be pushed back into the city; folks evacuating from their homes; a small child getting caught in the cross fires as he himself lunged forth arms wrapped around the kid; taking several stabs before howl out in pain. His eyes taking on a crimson red would appear almost demonic like as he stood up slowly, pain no longer phasing him as he jerked back his arm; back handing the knoll with great ferociousness. Enraged he'd shout, "Someone get this kid to safety!"

An NPC grabbing him and rushing off to safety. His arms extended he'd cut off their path. "Not a single one of you fucks is getting by me."He'd say before he rushed into the group bashing and slashing his way about; slaying what he could and taking more hits; his health depleting as he went. The battle for the city would go on for quite some time before the male seemed to come upon an obviously larger and more ferocious looking Knoll; something akin to a berserker itself. Rubbing under his nose he'd grin and laugh, "So you're the leader huh...guess this place isn't big enough for the both of us...well pilgrim Guess I got to ask. Do you feel lucky, well do ya punk?" he'd say before rushing off; the two clashing. Blow for blow passing; each more serious than the last as he'd be knocked back sent flying into the crowd of corpses.

Rising slowly he'd lift his shield blocking the incoming blow and slashing forth cutting at the side of the beast before bashing his head against it's "I am the vessel of Tyl, I will not and can not die here. I'd sooner see your entire pack erased from these lands...." he'd say his mouth coated in blood and his Health low; the epic battle coming down to the conclusons. His side fighting a losing battle; "We must succeed..." he'd say being knocked back down; dropped to his knees as he'd grunted "All this power, all the armor and for what to die here? No I can't die... but this guy just won't stay down." he said looking to strike at the beast once more; aiming for a vital organ. Would this be the end of Aaron Steele, would someone come in to rescue him. Or was this the turning point in their battle where he'd slay their leader and win the fight; only fractions of a second remained to determine his fate....

  4. Akino had been briefed before hand by the guild boss, but was none too sure where he would fit in best. He was no crafting master, no magical wise man. The art of body combat was unlikely to be something these NPCs would use in the fight, so his only option was to help coordinate the events. The first task he took up was separating the fighters from the civilians. Some were wounded, others insisted on fighting anyhow. If their injuries were too severe, the felis would turn them away to the healer's tent. If they were not critical, he would inquire what combat, if any, they knew. In a matter of minutes, he had a reppel deppel militia sorted out. Most were only familiar with staff-based weapons, so the majority of their forces were focused on defense. Pikes, spears, and other polearms were distributed among the rough looking crowd, a few handfuls of men and women, and each weapon was checked over. This being confirmed, he would send them over to the man in charge of training troops, and move on to his next unit. Ranged fighters, and a good handful of them. A large portion of the community were hunters in passing or trade, and this gave them a decided advantage. Ensuring each bow was sturdy, then rationing out their arrows evenly, he'd position them to the side to be deployed upon the ramparts strategically in a few moments. The remaining forces had no skills, or were only familiar with blades and blunt weapons. It was the latter that most of them received, as they had a decided lack of reliable swords. The few who received blades were the confident ones who assured the felis they had fought before with one. They mainly got axes, though the few surviving guards were given what swords they did posses. They were dispatched to the man in charge of training them, and Akino was free to march off with his rag tag archer unit. He set them under @Gwyn ap Herne's command, both for orders and placement, knowing she would have a better idea of how best to utilize their numbers. Gwyn was a smart warrior, and would have already spotted the strategic high points of the land. To augment this, he placed a small squadron of trained men nearby, giving them orders to defend the archers if they the defense was broken. If the raid moved past the first tier defense, these men would work as the second tier while they fell back. Having done this, he moved on to his next set of tasks.

Gathering the civilians in a mass, he began calling for them to be arranged in skills. Doing this, Akino discovered that they had a fair number of novice healers. He set them to work immediately in the tent, while sending the ones not familiar enough with the work out to gather supplies and ingredients from wherever they could. This being done, he instructed everyone else to begin collecting any materials they could find within the walls. Weapons, armour, food and the like. They were to deposit said equipment in a tent that had been set up, and report to an official the Coordinator appointed. The felis then gathered all the builders he could find, instructing them in building up their defensive perimeter. Wood, stone, the like could all be ferried from the ruins of uninhabited structures and placed in the front line, as a sort of short wall. Likewise, he set about explaining how to dig trenches and set stakes within them, as well as how to craft a few other barriers and traps they could use for delaying the siege, were it to come to such. Pots of boiling oil were made, and set on the high points with archers, as well as pitch. He gathered and set fires nearby, making it easy for the arrows to be set alight, or used to set pitch to flame.

Climbing high on one set of ruins, the male took count of how they were progressing. The militia he had set up in training was coming along nicely, and they were beginning to get direction on the front line formation. The ditches had been dug, and small walls had been set in the gaps between, where the pikemen were ready and waiting, spears glinting like many stars in the falling sun. He noted that each man had been equipped equally, as Akino directed the fellow in charge of the equipment tent to do. The pitch and oil were set beside the archers, which had been positioned high and given orders to not shoot unless ordered by Gwyn or another combat leader. The braziers had been set alight along the towers and ramparts, and the civilians were busy at work gathering the remaining materials. If combat broke out, they knew to fall to their respective posts, and how to retreat behind the second tier defense, if need be. A sense of awe filled his chest, and a humbled pride along with it. Golden eyes looked out at the suddenly coordinated effort of what was once simple pioneers, now turned trained militia.

And then the horns rang out, and there was no more time for him to give orders or coordinate. Now was time for him to battle. Dropping from his perch among the ruins, the felis summoned all his courage and strength as he stepped up beside Steele. The young man was no tank, but he was fluid in a large scale battle. Likewise, he had gathered a few of his guildmates who could be spared, and requested they follow him through the fray, for they were going to target the gnoll leader. It was only about two or three, but they were fast and efficient fighters. His hopes were that, with a strong tank and front line generating all the aggro, they would be able to slip through and dispatch death indiscriminately and cut a swathe right to the commander.

"Unity and Valor! Together!" He chose as his battle cry.

It did not go quite so smoothly. When the combat erupted, the small group would move flank-side, and cut through the center of the charge. Unfortunately, the knolls were ill-trained and did not hold rank upon spotting an enemy. Being one of the only adept fighters among them, Akino would quickly be forced to defend his friends and send them back to the front lines one at a time. Soon he was alone, breaking canine-beasts' limbs and shattering jaws with his clawed gauntlets as he danced over, about, and around corpses of man and beast alike. He did not have much armour, but the knolls were not the nimblest of warriors; Akino's guard skills sufficed to keep him alive through the combat's core, right into the eye. It was there that he spotted their leader, @Aaron Steele, in the throes of one-on-one combat with the enemies' commander, the Knoll Leader. By the way it appeared, he had arrived just in time. Aaron wound back for a final, critical strike. The Knoll Leader did likewise. There was not a second to waste, and Akino's swift stride closed the gap in less than a exhale. Three powerful, clawed jabs into the creature's spine, followed by a sharp side kick to the side of its kneecap. Snap. Thump. The Knoll Leader fell to his knees, weakened by the strikes in the back, and suddenly made vulnerable to Steele's death blow.

  5. Gwyn answered the call sent out across the guild, quick to ready herself mentally and physically. She ensured her equipment was suitable for what sounded like one hell of a muster call and headed out with the tide of her guild mates. They joined the chaos of the civilian NPCs being hastily evacuated and those unable to do so were herded to more defensible positions. She left that work to those with more of a head for it and met with the others closer to the front lines who had left micro-managing the populace to the rest of the support and defensive types. The Gnolls were her target here, not helping old women hobble up the street. She certainly didn't have a problem lending a hand, but she was more useful as a hundred arrows flying over a single helping hand here and there.

When Akino arrived with a band of hunters from the village and a few archers eager to join in, she nodded firmly to him and waved a hand to have them follow her. The village and the guild combined had managed to add fairly sturdy, if low towers, to keep a better eye out for the amassing pack of the hyena humanoids. A few she set up in the towers with the tar and pitch and gave them their orders. Whether they were steady handed and level headed enough to understand "wait until the first lit arrow, then fire to the sides to narrow the pack" would remain to be seen until said time. Hopefully with the archers following directions they would manage to create a burning bottleneck that forced the Gnolls to either charge straight into the defensive wall of swords, shields, and heavy armor she was sure Steele was leading below or they could choose to face the flames to get around. Either way it would lessen the fighting force or soften them up with some reoccurring damage as the burning effect was triggered.

For her and remaining group she led them up to the rooftops. The Gnolls had time and again pushed hard into the villages they attacked and she didn't doubt they'd get damned close to them. It offered them a clear vantage point, kept them out of reach, and offered cover behind the sloped roofs should ranged attackers fire at them.

It went about as well as she expected. The fight pushed in deep and while the bottleneck gave them time, time didn't mean much if you had bodies falling and a respawn point nearby no doubt ready to be flooded. The Gnolls were ferocious and while she had started with Scatter Shot volleys to soften up the foot soldiers reaching the guild's line, she eventually had to focus on picking them off one at a time with head shots. She could afford to leave the weaker things to the other archers and soldiers, but those capable of casting or with special buffs had to go down quick. Gwyn caught sight of Steele at one point fighting with the leader of the beasts and a red flash that was most likely their feline friend, but a rogue classes Gnoll joining her on her perch was a bit more pressing a matter. Flaming arrows doused in oils and tar still lit up the enemies below as they fought tooth and nail against the gathered hands below. The light cast by the flames and glint of metal created an eerie air between her and snarling beast.

In a fashion typical to beast tamers, she didn't answer in the way of man. Instead, she bore her teeth back at it with a mimicked snarl that, while paling in comparison to its own throaty growl, still did the trick. The game was afoot and the Gnoll charged on swift paws with wicked daggers in either humanesque hand. She readied a Force Shot and fired just as it swung forward with a cruel weapon made of salvaged metal and wrapped in hides. The power from the skill sent the Gnoll skidding back toward the edge of the roof... and her to the edge of her own side. It toppled over with pinwheeling arms as she caught herself. A single roof tile clattered off the side and she might have heard it crack if not for the roar of the battle around them.

  6. Jack was an old man among young people. He knew that his work wasn't to be done at the front line, but near the back with the civilians.

"Come, come. Follow me. The younger chaps are holding them off. If they get close, they'll never see the light of day again. Trust in me." He spoke in his most calming voice. He led them to what was the town-hall, though that was a bit more rough for ware these days.

"May the youngest ones please assist me in fortifying this place farther. I'm a bit old is all."

Multiple young chaps stepped up, and Jack smiled. They might just survive this after all.

"Once the youngest and oldest are inside, Follow my instructions. You need to make breaks into the wood surrounding the door-frame, and tie ropes to it. That way, it's a simple break to get there. However, we also want to dig a hole right in front of the town center to trip them so it's easier to see them coming. Once you have that done, we need to make sure everyone is okay. I'll get to doing that now."

He went inside the town hall as they did that, and went around comforting everyone.

  7. Today was a day of reflection for Weissman as he looked back at the Orphan's where they lay. He had done quite the job in supply for them. An even fellow NPC's who were friends to the guild helped him supply the children with warm clothing an linens for their little cots. The food supply was slowly becoming bigger while the kids were now becoming better in self defense. Weissman himself had taken up teaching each of them piercing skills with his new proficiency. Grinning largely he watched the older children spar with wooden daggers that he had bought at the stores. Perhaps he should take up a crafting skill perhaps not. Yet a small bing could be heard as a message entered his mail box. Flipping his hand palm up he opened the message with ease and scanned it over.

This was something different no doubt, they were finally on the move to doing bigger things than before. Weiss was somewhat excited yet worried. The aspect of possibly dying did not appeal to him in the least. Yet he would have to put his life on the line for these kids if anything else. Slowly he settled the small children down upon their cots and rose from his own. "You all know what to do.. Today is one of those days.. Safety if I do not make it back.." The man said to the older children, their eyes were adamant like his own as he bayed them not to worry about him, for they were the ones in charge if he were to perish. Hero's weren't remembered for simple tasks, they were remembered by coming back alive from most certain death. Weissman would gladly face this trial with a twisted smile upon his face.

Taking up his equipment the man rubbed the back of his head lightly. He pondered if his dagger request had gone through. Yet somehow he doubted it was complete as of yet. Rushing down the streets he grabbed some extra rations for himself and double checked his weaponry. Nodding his head lightly the man made his way to the village. Sure he wasn't called to the first meeting but he would surely arrive with all of the other heads. He had nothing better to do at this time, taking a seat in the meeting room he listened to what was said in silence. Crossing his arms over his chest his crimson optics remained hidden as he only chose to listen and not watch.

As the meeting hour finally arrived Weissman slowly sat down to give his feet a small break before departure. The man understood his role clearly, and he would be sure to defend the backs of every tank and ranger on the field. He knew nothing else besides possibly taking supplies from the enemy and sneaking about, but perhaps that might put his life at more risk than needed. Shaking the thought from his mind he went about double checking all the work that was done to the small ruins. Looking for all the possible back doors he put in a request for traps set at this markers to prevent them being taken by surprise. At some point he did pass Steele upon the way to this post, giving the Leader a firm pat on the back and a thumbs up he vanished into the streets. Weissman even took a moment to gather seven to eight people to himself so that he would teach them about the one handed pierce style. Having each of them armed as best as they could be he spent. Once the people were adamant on some of the training they swiftly followed him out of the village to take up positions, this way they could pincer strike all those whom passed the tanks. Weissman felt better knowing they were pairing off in groups of two, while he himself was alone.

Taking up his dagger he crouched low and remained in hiding for a ten minute break. Taking a deep breath it wasn't until the sounds of steel clashed that the man moved out of hiding letting out a sharp whistle he alerted his small party to be on their toes and looking out for dagger. "The rule of the Weissman family is this.. Those who do not fight will never be remembered! So give it your all!" He cried out before leaping over a small wall and into hiding once more. No cry of joy followed his comment as the sound of feet joined his approach to the front lines. So they came as Reapers among the knolls. The furious class between Men and Monster alike. What defined them was the mindset of how they perceived themselves. Rushing forth they clashed with the enemy without hesitation, blades draw and flashing in the moon light as cries rose to the heavens.

Weiss did not linger long with his men as he went to find the Alpha! No doubt others were on the hunt and the more that hunted one man the easier it would be come to bring this thing to an end hopefully. May the fates forever be in their favor no doubt. As he ducked in an out of combat scoring a few strikes here and there Weissman found @Aaron Steele and the Alpha locked in combat. He wasted no time rushing in to join the fray. He arrived as @Akino Kokoro Ame struck hard at the Alpha and Weissman did the same. Sliding down upon the ground he aimed hos dagger up in hopes to pierce the beasts belly and spill its guts onto the earth. Godspeed to them all!

  8. Sera frowned when she stared at the message that Steele had sent to her. An entire village was going to be depending on them? They couldn't drag in more help? She cursed silently. She liked the idea of a guild, a band of people all joining together for one common cause, but now there were Ives put at stake for the sake of only one guild doing something? She opened up her menu to send a message back to Aaron, but then closed it. What she wanted to say would be better heard verbally.

She arrived in town at eleven AM the next morning. She spent her extra hour doing anything she could to help. Geomancy enchantments on the barricades and buildings were her main priority, toughening up any defensive measures she could, as well as the houses closest to where she expected the fighting to be. While yes, the main thing was to save lives, she knew that it would be painful for the people to return to destroyed homes. And houses could be defensible as well.

When it struck noon and it was time for the meet up, Sera listened to everything Aaron said with her arms crossed. It was cute the way he was telling people to literally do what their skill set suggested they do. He liked the sound of his own voice, she'd learned. Which was fine - she liked it too. When everyone split to go do their part, she stayed near him for a bit. "So I hear I'm not getting paid for this," she said with a grin, before growing serious. "Stay safe, out there. Don't try to find the biggest thing there is just to prove you can, okay?" She asked him. "I mean, if anything happened to you, who do I have to tease and make fun of?" She asked. "Akino? Please, no one can make fun of him for long, he's literally a puppy that's a cat."

Sera found herself mostly on support duty when it came time for the fighting to take place, casting area of effect buffs and healing spells at the defenders. When she could, she took a pot shot or two at the knolls, and she had a conjured weapon assisting as well, though she didn't have the best control over that. It was her Astramancy that was doing most of the work. Whenever she saw a knoll that seemed to have any air of authority, she would cast a lightning bolt at it.

She wasn't sure what drew her attention about it, but she turned to see Aaron (and several others) fighting the alpha knoll. Aaron was injured, but still fighting. She cursed his stupidity, doing the exact thing she hoped he wouldn't. She prepared a healing spell to cast on him, hoping that it, along with the people helping him, would ensure his survival. Her spell cast, now all she could do was hope for the best.

She couldn't come for the start of the guild mission; last minute she realised that she had an assignment she really had to work on, if she wanted to finish it on time, and thus rushed it late into the afternoon. When she was free she shoved everything she'd worked on aside and jumped straight for her bed, picking up the VR headset and quickly logging in to Terra Sphere. Please tell me I didn't miss the whole freaking thing, Amane thought, grimacing. Ever since she first joined the Heroes she'd been waiting for the start of their very first guild mission — it was one of the reasons why she joined a guild in the first place. If she missed this one she would never forgive herself.

Logging in, several notifications bombared her sight, the most prominent of them a message from Aaron Steele. Opening it, she noted the location and immediately ran towards it, her need metres falling at the wasteful expenditure of energy. No matter — even if she reached there exhausted, there was still more that she could do, than if she didn't reach there at all. As she neared the village the sounds of combat became began drifiting over, the piercing screeches of the grass knolls and under that, the more human yells of her guild members. Thank goodness there still seemed to be some enemies left. For as much as she didn't mind helping the villages, it wasn't exactly her strong suit, and the felis would have much preferred fighting rather than aiding relief efforts.

The devastated ruins of the village laid before her, buildings broken and falling apart, several of them on fire, lighting up the late evening sky with an orange glow. But even then, she could see how in many places magic and engineering kept the place together, supporting walls and roofs, and the damage wasn't as widespread as it could have been. With the skills that they had as players, things most NPCs couldn't even dream of, the whole village shouldn't take more than a day to rebuild, good as new. Amane hastened towards the site, trying to pinpoint a grass knoll, the restlessness of adrenalin egging her on. She began casting a spell beforehand, letting the arcane magic settle, trapped in her palms as long as she never completed it, ready to hurl at a moments notice. Honestly it sucked a little that her Astramancy wasn't quite up to par — with the fifty percent damage reduction, even if she used a pyromancy spell against the creatures she doubted it'll come to much effect. Well, no matter. She didn't need a type advantage to do serious damage.

Noticing a scream, she took off towards a building, wrenching the door open to see a grass knoll stand over a young boy, its club raised for a killing blow. Instinctively firing off the spell, she watched it smashed into the monsters head, hurling it over to the side of the room. If she hadn't prepared that spell, the boy would have been toast — sometimes Amane hated how long her casting times could get. While it rarely was a problem in a party, solo wise she was constantly held back, many priceless opportunities snatched from her because she could react fast enough. Kneeling down, she casted a heal over time spell on the boy, leading him outside as she did so. "Run towards the town hall!" She yelled, pushing him out the door. "There should be someone who will lead you to safety!" She wanted to go with him just in case, but the growls emanating from behind her told her that she still had unfinished business to settle. Swinging around once the boy was gone, Amane barely managed to throw up a magic shield before the grass knoll crashed against her, sending them both rolling across the floor. Getting up, wiping blood off her lips, she gave a rather uncharacteristically savage smile. This would be fun.

  10. Gasping for breath Lai'ordi stood in the middle of a black field, ash filled the air. Floating softly on the hot wind, whirling around the girl. Sweat rolled off of her smooth skin, how could magic even be this hard to control?. Raising one of her arms she winced as she struggled to do so, her energy was low but, she would persevere. Calling upon the power within her she held out her hand, opening her palm slowly. "Ignite." The instant the word came out of her mouth the ground below the girl began rising in heat, wind increasing in pressure, sparks flew off of the girl's form. Starting to life, fire rose around her. Cloaking her in a veil of scorching flames, golden and radiant they swirled viciously. 'I've got to get it under control!' she thought to herself. Focusing to a point on her hand, she imagined a vacuum at the center of the palm. Drawing in the flames she had summoned. Suddenly, the golden fire wrapped about her. Taking over her body for a moment, turning her vision a bright array of white, gold, and orange. Until sliding down to her hand. Rolling off of her body the golden flames condensed into a small ball. No bigger than a softball. The strain of maintaining such a compacted spell was difficult, she could feel her consciousness fade from her. 'Even keeping this in my hand is putting too much weigh on my body and mind'. Her other attempts failed, miserably. Each time she tried to release it as a ranged spell it blew up in her face. Not this time, gritting her teeth and baring her fangs. The Felis roared as she propelled the magical ball of extreme fire forward. After that...nothing but black.

    *ping*

"Hmm?" opening her eyes the girl groaned as she opened her menu from her position in the dirt. Who could possibly need her at this moment? Noticing who it was from she sat up slowly, her body sore from the rigorous training. Aaron?. performing the motions she opened the message. Mission?. Reading more she nodded and stood. Basically it was an extermination. Stretching out her aching limbs she couldn't help but smirk. The hunt began.

"Crap!." Rushing to the scene she watched the battle wage, she was only a few minutes late as well. Activating her magic the lioness quickly pounced into the midst of combat. "I really need to stop being late!." Roaring out the words she spotted the nastiest looking Gnoll. So that was her target, her prey. It looked tough, but weakened. Analyzing the situation she noticed a stack of barrels near the enemy. "Hmph, this will be over quickly." Holding out her hand she spoke the incantation to her most recently developed spell. "Ignite!" Sparking to life flames to rise in her wake the girl swiftly drew the flames inwards to the palm of her hand. It would work, like it did last time. She may have passed out from lack of energy, but she knew what she had done wrong. The incantation required another ignition word so to speak. Ruby eyes glaring towards her target she took a step forward, bracing her steps as she hurled the ball of condensed fire forward. "Pride's Light!" roaring the last required words the ball exploded forth from Lai'ordi. Whistling through the air it took mere seconds to hit it's target. bursting in a pillar of fire the barrels set off like deadly fireworks, catching the Gnoll leader in it's radius.

  11. A slight frown appeared on Augusta's face as she read the message Aaron had sent the entire guild once more. She was nervous, after all, who wouldn't be upon their first guild mission. However, time was of the essence. She would have to attend class today, although she was fortunate enough that her classes were not during the time when the sun was still upon the sky. She could merely hope there was enough time for her to complete the mission and attend her class before it would become too late. It was only a few moments after she had exited out looking at the message when she realized that it was nearly 1 PM and she was still within the town. The shock was enough to send her scurring down the streets in a desperate attempt to get there as quickly as possible.

Upon arriving at the location, the sight of enemies and guild members alike filled her vision. It was clear that there was a fight raging on as weapons, magic, and screams were tossed around the field alike. Her senses immediately became enamored by her surroundings before the young woman would begin. While she would be able to aid in relief, the Faerin had found herself more suited towards combat. Taking a deep breath, she would begin by scanning the area for openings in battle. It was mere moments before she had realized that a grass knoll had spotted her and immediately began to head towards her direction. It had been midrange when it had spotted her, but as it was charging towards Augusta the distance between the two quickly closed. Without hesitation, Augusta brought up her menu of spells before hastily quickly pressing the button for Astramancy.

It was too close for her to properly cast Aracnamancy, and for now, she would only be able to pray as she began to chant the incarnation of the spell. She was lucky that it did not appear to be too fast, however, the cast time would give it time to head towards her direction. It was only a meter away at most when the spell activated, causing a weak barrier in between the two. It would be enough to give her a chance to back away. After taking a few large paces backward, Augusta began to cast another spell, the words escaping her avatar's lips. It was a few seconds before the spell she cast had broken, after all, astramancy would only give her 50% effectiveness but it didn't matter. Those precious seconds was all she needed to create the space. Praying to whatever deity of luck there was to allow her spell to be cast successfully, she snapped her fingers as a spark erupted from her fingers. Relieved that the cast time had finally finished, she stared down the troll almost in a mocking manner. Swinging her hand in an arc, the flames appeared in front of her in the motion she waved her hand. The knoll who had tried to engage in close combat with her screamed as the flames touched its body. She looked carefully at her mana, making sure to preserve it as much as possible.

  12. staring at death I take a breath

    Her fingers curled.

This wasn't quite what she had in mind when she said she wanted to work with her guildmates. Her fingers lit up with flames, her only comfort right now. One could say being neck deep in the enemy lines was a sign of either courage, or just plain stupidity. It wasn't like Wild Rose had wanted to be here! If anything, she just ended up here. Considering her luck in the game so far, she shouldn't be surprised. Her fingers dug into the face of the stupid ugly fuck right in front of her, it's screams almost music in her ears right now. Motion was behind her, and with a twist, her blade was in it's gut. Her breath eased out, even as she twisted on her heel, her eyes flashing.

Battle was both amazing and yet terrible.

Her breath came out, as she ducked under the swing of another. Her fingers lit up with more fire, the girl driving her hand into the throat of her opponent. Vicious, but that was the only way to keep these little shits down. Yanking her hand away, her eyes landed on another opponent, her blade already moving to get rid of it. There was no use in standing still, her body shifting. Someone else was here with her, be damned if she remembers who right now. With a small little smile, she finds that the three around her are not quite dead. She'll have to solve that problem won't she? Her blade went for their necks, off with their heads!

She couldn't but think on how she got here.

It had started with a pretty nice day. School was decent for once, her parents weren't home, and she had finished all of her homework in class so that she could play without too many interruptions. She was still going to take care of her body, she was not that stupid. She had put on her comfy pants, and had lied back into the bed with her t-shirt. And then, she had fallen into the world of Terrasphere, trying to remember exactly what she was doing before she logged off last night. Probably being lost in exploration or something like that. Luckily, she had logged out in town, which was better then nothing.

After maybe five minutes of being on, her inbox flashed with a message.

''He must be psychic, there's no way this is just a coincidence.'' she mumbled to herself, even as she opened it. Turns out, they have a mission! And it was tomorrow. She could skip whatever tomorrow - probably school not that she was thinking about this right now - and go to this. With a hum, she simply closed the message. She would be there, and that was for sure! After all, it would be nice to test her fire and sword out there... and she could always use roots to tangle things or something if she got really stuck. It was how that one worked, right? Oh well.

The next day had arrived faster then she thought. Of course, she was almost late, but made it just in time to be there with everyone. Wild Rose knew she wasn't the most noticeable of figures, but it was almost laughably easy how she just faded into the background. What, with her new clothes that just look like normal clothes, and nothing really special about her looks. In fact, one of the NPCs had approached her, and told her that she should help her family. After a quick discussion, the poor thing realized she was an adventurer - or whatever it was they called PCs in here - and left her alone.

From there, it all went downhill. The attack started, and she was out like a shot. There had been speeches and battle cries and what not, but honestly Wild Rose didn't want to bother with all that pre-battle brouhaha. She had gone straight for a flanking group of knolls, their numbers being around five. Someone else had joined her, and the pair had started their little fight. Of course, everyone else was pretty busy, and within no time, the pair had split leading to Wild Rose's current situation. Honestly, it could be a lot worse, but still, there could be a lot better things to do. Considering she hadn't bothered investing points at all... well it would make things interesting.

She only got rid of one enemy, as the other two were slowly getting up. The face burned one and the one that got her sword. The girl felt her lips quirk into a grin, and she tilted her head. ''More you say? Well, since you're invading and harming poor innocent folks... what better then OFF WITH YOUR HEADS!'' she said, her last words thrown as a shout, even as she moved towards them. She had some magic, and she had a weapon. She would be fine, if not better then that, by the time this would be over. And maybe, just maybe, this would actually help her out in the end. But it would definitely help out the guild, even if she wasn't the most useful of people - she had trouble killing three mobs dammit!

But Wild Rose wasn't the type to give up, and so she continued to do the best that she could do.

  13. Isolt had gotten the message right when she signed on. She was running a little late by the time she actually got to the meeting grounds. It was lucky she had signed on when she did. She may have missed it otherwise. She ran up to the group just as aaron started to address them stopping and slightly skidding into place to hhear it all. She was no stratageist but she could poison weapons albeit with not so good grade posion and she had some stuff for healing and food for those who needed it and could make more if need be but she was sure that would come after the fighting. She saluted Aaron and got to work gettinv the things she needed set up in a bit of a triage center for the fallen and all that and it was hidden enough away from the fighting.

Once the fighting started she kept an eye on the field watching the fighters go to work. She had her dagger in one hand an a very low grade healinc potion in the other ready to be somewhat a combat medic if onmy she had something a little less close range but oh well. She took a breath watching the attacks until she had no choice but to do something to help the fallen npcs. She moved quick as she could to help any of the wounded.
