    Supporting the Castle

The inside of the castle is an absolute mess, there are so many things wrong with this scenery… all structures are crumbling from the onslaught of boulder barrages, many are on fire, people screaming in pain as the horror of war overtake them.

Your job here is to help support the defender’s from behind the scene. That means tending to the wounded, repairing building, putting out fire, resupplying ammunition as well as fixing the equipment of those fighting on the frontline. Most importantly, fix the wall!

  2. Jack had taken place behind the wall, inside the castle. He knew he was no use to those outside of the castle. That was how it was, simply. He, however, was an engineer, however old. That was simply the fact. He wasn't strong enough to lift the things or anything like that.

He was to hope that they trusted an old man in this case. He was pointed out where things could be improved, and trying to make sure that everything wasn't falling apart. That's simply his job in this case, though he wasn't going to be the only one doing this. He doubted this castle would fall, easily or not.

  3. Sera frowned. She knew she wouldn't be much help fighting out in the assault force, and so she was torn between defense and support. Yet when she realized that with her weaponcrafting abilities, she would be able to help far more effectively on support, her fate seem sealed. As such, she moved about as best as she could, trying to find whereever she could help the best.

She hammered at her anvil as quickly as she could without sacrificing durability of the gear she was creating. Efficiency was what she was aiming for, not just speed. Luckily, being Proficient at weaponsmithing in the game allowed the system to do a lot of the work for her. She was creating arrows as quick as at least one archer could shoot them, and she knew her fellow weaponsmith were doing the same. She wouldn't be able to help with the wall itself, as far as she was aware. That didn't really fall under "weaponsmithing". She wished it did. But for now, she would do everything she could. She had to help these people. This world. She didn't know why they were under attack. Had the humans started it? Had the trees? She shook her head, pushing the thoughts from her mind.

Innocent lives were at stake. That was all that mattered. Protecting the innocent lives.

  7. Why do it? Why move among those attempting to keep the castle standing, and sabotage their nervous and frantic work? Why walk among people that she could call friends and watch as they rushed arrows to archers, or quickly mended damage in the fortifications between enemy pushes? Why betray those that she was meant to serve with? Well that was simple of course. Power, pure and principled. Some people had it. She wanted it. If she couldn’t get the sort of power that Lucia, Merkaba, and others wielded under the reign of an intolerant fool of a king… She would seize it from the hands of elven masters. Elves liked magic, didn’t they?

“Here, get this to the wall quickly!” a quartermaster shouted, tossing her a bundled which contained several quivers of arrows that had been treated with torch-wraps, to burn the invading force. She smiled and nodded, walking through busy corridors, working her hex magic upon each quiver so that the fuses would be damp and the iron tips crude. Useless fodder to be fired ineffectually. And everyone none the wiser.

  8. The flurry of activity around her left her stunned in the middle of the castle. She hadn't expected this desperation and rush of everything when she arrived, though the summons was rushed and frantic. But one of the commanding figures barked a set of orders and Ash was startled into action. She could barely even hear what the words were, but the sharp tone jolted something in her as she moved towards the walls.

Her magic was hardly the best; she was barely any better than when she had first dropped into the world of Terrasphere. But it was improved, and she had some limited spells at her disposal now. It was something.

Parts were crumbling to the ground around her, stones littered the earth like shards of glass. The siege weapons that their foes wielded were effective indeed.

It wasn't much but Ash closed her eyes and raised her hands towards the ruined section of the wall she was looking at. Energy rushed from her hands in a rapid blast, and when she opened her eyes she saw vines emerge from the cracks in the walls, dripping with thick, sticky sap.

Good enough. Ash bent down and started to gather the rocks again, shoving them back into place and anchoring them with the sap. Roughshod work, but it would do.

  9. Everything around him was crumbling, fire was eating away at some of the straw-roofed buildings and not a single soul can put it out. In fact, no one should look at Astor to put out fire considering it’s really the only magic he can use. If anything, he would make the fire bigger...

In any case, the first thing he did when he arrived on the scene was to ask people to bring their magical tools to him so he could mend the broken ones. That was his primary goal, getting people properly prepped before he sends them back to defend the wall. Despite his best effort, it didn’t seem to be enough considering he ran out of work really quickly since armor broke a lot easier and he couldn't do a damn thing to fix THAT.

Seeing a lone girl trying to fix the wall by herself, Astor approached her with very intention on helping. First, he introduced himself with a shout for the woman to watch out. Then, he opened his grimmoire and started to recite a quick incantation, quickly moving the stone back to their proper place.

“Hey, you should try to use magic to move those rocks back or you’re going to get worn out doing that by hand, how much magic can you use?” he asked @Ashiore Evretto

  10. What a fine mess he had gotten himself into. After walking around admiring the scenery Janne had found himself in the middle of a group of people all pushing one another to get into a castle of sorts, And get in they all did! The doors slammed behind the group of healers and Craftsmen as Janne just started looking around. LOOK ALIVE YOUNG MAN
A boorish and gruff old man yelled to him. Wha... was all Janne could mutter before the man was yelling again.
REPORT TO THE MEDICAL TENTS YOUNGBLOOD The man yelled again.
Janne shrugged and muttered a very passive Alright before going where he was told.
He showed up to the medical wing of things and damn did it smell bad. Blood and death lingered in the air as he entered it. Thank goodness more help! Take these bandages and tend to the wounded! The nurse woman said before pushing Janne in the direction of a man with multiple arrows in his arms. uh hi how are ya? Janne muttered before pulling out the arrows.

  11. It wasn't enough.

Sera didn't know why, but it seemed like everything they were doing wasn't enough. So few were helping. Why? Did no one appreciate how important this was? She shook her head, trying to clear her mind and push the doubtful thoughts out of her. She couldn't afford to think of anything except the work she was doing. That's all she could do for now.

Having made plenty of arrows for now, swords, spears, and shields were being requested, both for the infantry and the higher ranking soldiers and knights. Sera got to work, not only making new ones, but repairing the ones that came in whenever she could. She didn't waste time on fantasy details, on iconography, anything like that. That was all time, energy, effort, materials, that could be better spent. She wiped sweat from her forehead. This was going to be a long fight. By the gods, she would do all she could to make sure it didn't end quickly in a brutal defeat of the human people. How many would die if she let that happen?

  12. She wouldn't give up. She would never give up. She couldn't afford to give up. Even if everything crumbled around her. Which wasn't happening yet. She didn't know how much progress was being made outside. She didn't know who was winning and who was losing. She crafted.

Orders came in. A javelin to throw. She crafted it. A shield to defend. She crafted it. An axe to chop down one of those trees. By the gods, she crafted it. She knew everyone was doing their hardest. She would not be the one who faltered, who slipped, who provided the weakness in the line. She hammered at her forge until her arm was numb, until sweat blinded her. And even then, still, she crafted.

After what seemed like hours, she stumbled back. "I need a break," she gasped. She wasn't done. Five minutes. That was all she would allow herself. Five minutes to breath, to rest. Once those five minutes were up, she could craft.

  13. Ash had a brief moment to jump back at the warning before magic swirled around in front of her. Her eyes widened as the wall repaired itself easily with an incantation from the man who had popped up.

"Oh, thanks!" she said. She wiped some sweat from her forehead and stretched a bit, feeling the pain in her back dissipate with the action. "Ah, yeah, magic would probably be better. But I'm still not that great. I can barely manage a bit of levitating."

To demonstrate, she put out a hand and concentrated hard, and a brick about half the size of her head drifted above the ground with a tentative wobble. But she did her best to guide it into one of the smaller gaps that the man hadn't fully restored. "I guess I find plant magic and stuff a lot easier than the general kind of magic," she said, a bit sheepishly.

Abruptly remembering her manners, she blushed and held out her hand towards @Astor Balthas . "But really, thank you for your help! I'm Ashiore, but you can call me Ash. How about we both work together and fix the wall?"

  16. Everybody was in such a frantic rush, racing across pathways and scrambling down old stone halls in an attempt to keep the fighting from breaching the walls and meeting them all face to face. She played her role as one of the meek assistants well enough, delivering arrows here and sending messages there. She even fought the urge to sabotage ALL of them, lest it become too obvious that there was a snake in the garden and send them all hunting after her. No. No, if she wanted to really hurt them it would have to be calculated and careful. Walking down to the courtyard, she smiled and remembered the woods of her teacher, Lucia, for whom all blessing and blame towards Lemming could be placed. Malefimancy corrupted. Slowly and with time. That was what she had been taught; that it was a poison that needed time to work its way through the body. A sickness that needed time to fester. Thinking on such things, she walked up to the well from which the castle drew its drinking water, and she began tossing in coins “to pray for luck.” Amidst the coins however came her curses, turning the water foul with sickness. It would look perfectly clear and normal, pure for the drinking… But teeming within it, beneath what the naked eye could see, would be a blight to tear at the guts of any soldiers and supporting staff that drank from it. And when in a siege like this? With so many mouths? Everyone would need a drink sooner or later.

It looks like the group manning the wall dense isn't doing so well, considering the attack on the wall meant that the castle's overall defense is weakening. Fire are spreading and the wall is becoming weaker by the hours...

  20. She didn't retreat to the support because she'd lost a good chunk of health in so little time, but because she'd heard talk among some of the ally npc that the support was dwindling in the back. So, after waiting for a free opening, the maid Felis darted away from her station, her lynx tailing along behind her while keeping an eye out for anything heading their way from behind. Although she was worried for those out on assault and was now less then aware of what was happening out front, the people wounded needed tending to.

After heading to the back, she let her eyes quickly scan over some of the other adventurers, recognizing some and then non before walking directly over to the wounded. It was ghastly, seeing the arrows stuck into their skin as the groaned in pain. She didn't want to touch them, obviously, but there was one thing that she could do to provide relief.

Taking in a deep breath, she opened her mouth to let a lovely lullaby echo throughout the room, wanting to bring relief and calmness to those injured so the others with more supportive abilities could deal with the more... Hands on, jobs. She counted to let the soft and soothing song carry out over the soldiers as they seemed to calm down, making others jobs easier, however she seemed to be a bit nervous and happened to be quieter than usual, not reaching some of the soldiers in the back. Asti, on the other hand, helped out with the more physical rolls, trying her best as one lynx could.

  21. “I’m Astor, Astor Balthas. I would be happy to work with you,” he said, grabbing onto @Ashiore Evretto's hand and giving it a firm shake. He continued, “My Pyromancy is at the adept level, but it seems I can only do basic levitation unless I want to further spread the fire…” Astor scratched the back of his head feeling a bit pressured by the situation. He needed to do something, anything, and for the moment, it seems like the girl’s suggestion is the best they have to go on.

Just as he was about to respond to her again, Astor checked the event chat channel whereupon he saw an alert going through.

Does anyone here have cooking of some kind? Our troops are extremely famished and may need some sustenance, anything is good, please!

“Hey, are you able to cook, by the way? It seems a batch of the wall defenders are going to need to eat and rest before they are able to go back out. If you can put together something resembling food, I can provide the fire and we can help them recover,” Astor said.

Should she accept his offer, he would grasp her hand in his own and take them both to the castle courtyard where several people are scrambling to put together some kind of makeshift cooking station with no fire.

OOC: This is mostly for RP only, do use your top attribute for the +5 modifier.

  22. Sera cursed. She felt like she was getting slower and slower each time. Even with her break. What was going on? What was wrong? She cursed herself. She cursed the Yladia. She cursed the game and the gods and anything in it that she could curse. If she would have spent more time training her weaponsmithing, how much more could she be helping right now?

She shook her head. No, she couldn't afford to think like that. Even as soft music reached her ears, she felt a surge of confidence. She continued her work, resolving that she would find whoever it was that was singing later and speak with them. Thank them, or whatever was needed. This effort to defend this castle was a group effort. Everyone who could participate had to. Healing magic and weaponsmithing, and everything in between.

These walls would not fall. They could not fall. She would work until she could not work any longer. Every little bit counted, no matter how minuscule.
