  3. Thank god. The support really were coming out of the wood works. Noah was both happy and relieved. He had not sustained too much damage so far but he had seen plenty of allies that had been nailed by the incoming attacks. That oakheart’s pounding had knocked a handful of allies off the wall and down into the forest floor, presumably dead. The artillery from the enemies had been nonstop, even with the oakheart in their line of fire. The wall would be coming down soon if they did not muster up a stronger defense and counter measures.

That's when Noah started looking around, he saw a few familiar faces that put him at ease. It seemed that the Yulan Dragons had rallied together to defend the castle. This would not only bolster the defenses up tremendously, it would also be great publicity for the Yulan Dragons. Noah was pretty happy with his guild choice. At first he thought he'd just use them to get some experience and some customers for his crafting but they turned out to be a pretty good group of guys and gals.

He returned his attention on the task before him, blasting the defensive weapons at anything that appeared to be either a walking plant or elf. These sons of bitches were gonna become the fertilizer for this entire forest once Yulan Dragons were done with them. After this battle was squared away would there be an even greater war? Surely Falderen wouldn't allow an attack of this size to just go without retribution. Perhaps a new region would be unlocked with new dungeons, races, magics, and masteries.

  6. Whoops.

That swipe had a completely unintended effect. Val watched the flame spark off of the saboteur's gauntlet and knock him backwards. Half expecting him to regain his balance at the last second, Val tilted his head and stood up straight in surprise when the white haired man fell off the tower, yelling a curse as he went and firing one last bolt of electricity as he did. The bolt flying too quick for him to react to, Val caught it hard in the shoulder and grunted as he felt to a knee, temporarily paralyzed.

He didn't bother looking over the edge. He was sure he'd just killed a man but dire times called for dire measures. Unsteadily rising to his feet, Val watched as yet another hail of arrows rained down from above. Standing at the edge of the tower, Valther swiped his more reliable left arm up and over his head. "Crusta!" he shouted and ice formed at his toes, sweeping up in a wide arc like a rolling wave, covering him like a shell.

Crack, crack, crunch. The arrows hammered into the ice, and Val focused his energy on fortifying his construct. Smash. One arrow broke through, slamming hard into the shoulder of his good arm and he took a knee beside the gaping hole it had created in his not-so-protective shell. Grunting, he grasped the shaft of the arrow and yanked it out, tossing it away. Blood trickled down his arm like a crimson river, and he dropped his blade onto his knee, raising his hand against his injured arm, whispering a short incantation and cauterizing the wound closed for the time being. There wasn't time to treat it properly.

Peeking around the edge of his bunker, his eyes widened as a giant, red tree man stumbled along, surrounded by smaller tree men and elven archers. With a grin, Val popped out of his hiding place. One thing this walking tinderbox was going to learn: Wood. Burns.

Placing his palms as a 45 degree angle and aiming them at the face of the giant treant, he shouted "Coruscare!" and a plume of flames burst forth, washing over the bark-ridden flesh of the monster and eating at the wood and leaves like acid. Stopping his assault short to conserve energy, Val hid again and panted, hoping he did enough to at least slow its assault.

  9. Alpha was busy maintaining the pseudo-shield for the wall and the defenders and, as of thus, failed to place her entire attention to attacking the offenders. There was little she could do with both of her palms placed on the concrete below her, giving her no means of committing to a particularly strong offensive action. Despite her concentration on protecting her allies, however, she managed to find some wiggle room to somewhat disrupt the enemy power. "Impigliare," she whispered and, through the roots that branched off from her fingertips, it flowed into the grass below and it knotted and entangled several of the elves' feet, making them more susceptible to attacks that would've otherwise been dodged. She hoped she was making a difference.

  12. Felicitas began to grin wryly as she reached another window, this time with an even better view of the oakheart. She could tell they were doing damage, but this behemoth of a tree still just wouldn't fall.
She sighed, settling into the heels of her feet, and began to chant.
All the while, she found she was doing someting akin to praying, though to who, she didn't quite know. Whoever would be inclined to listen, at this point. Anything would help now, surely. Though she knew, rationally, that the people inside the castle walls were mostly NPC's, somehow that didn't make the matter any less urgent.
These walls had to stand, and for that to happen, this beast needed to fall.
She finished her chant and her spell shot off, connecting easily with her large target. Hard to miss, really. She frowned, wishing that the apparently sentient wood was more flammable.

    The Gate Has Been Breached

The red Oakheart has smashed through the gate and made it possible for the Yladian Infantry to pour into the narrow hallway that extends over the river. The Oakheart is now serving as a roof to block all projectiles and spells launching at the invading unit.

FUCK!!! The Elves breached the gate, guys we need to get the siege grinder, hurry up and get all the artisans, engineers, and tinkerer get it ready or they are going to flood our inner courtyard.

    Damage

Damage: Everyone who have posted thus far must subtract 5% HP and 5% EN from the appropriate bbcodes. No modifier.

    5/4 Supports

Thanks to the dedicated healers coming to the wall to heal the defenders, they were able to take the onslaught of ranged attack while attempting to fend off the red Oakheart. It was a shame they couldn’t do more.

    Counter-Measures
If the defense party can get the counter down to 7650 by the next cycle, they will successfully activate the siege grinder up and roll it down the hall to kill all invaders trying to get in.

The siege grinder - A massive cylindrical rolling pin with spikes on them that can be used to roll it down a long and narrow hallway to pierce and crush anyone caught inside the hall. Setting it up takes time, however, and the defense group must go into a melee square off with the invaders while the siege team sets it up. The grinder must be placed atop a rolling track.

For this cycle, anyone with Artisan, Engineering, and Tinker will get +20 modifier to their roll per mastery tier (except beginner). +40 for Expert rank. The red Oakheart is weak to both of these magic.

If a Saboteur rolls lower than 50, they may not post in this thread (the cooldown will be based on the roll). More and more people are showing up and situations have been complicated... You'll have to be more careful now.

  16. Arrows and flames rained down upon the giant oakheart, yet, the creature did not stop. Her eyes focused on the large oakheart constantly crashing against the gate. Ju then redirected her attention to the elven troops approaching – she was in the frontlines. She couldn’t bother with losing time focusing on what she couldn’t deal with, a moment in which she cursed for not having some fancy magic to deal with things. As more troops approached, she thre an elven shield she had in hands, hitting one of her enemies.

Two others approached one with a sword, another armed with a shield; she dodged the first elven attack from the swordsman with a side step, following suit with pulling his grip and consequently body towards the spearman’s attack, essentially forcing a friendly fire. Ju spun using her left leg to keep her center of gravity while her right went directly to the spearman’s chin with enough force to throw him off his feet. Berserker kept her blood pumping, but energy consumption was still a problem for her.

As the gates were breached and she could read the system message sent by Eren Ju glanced at the ones responsible for setting up the massive grinder and back to invading infantry. The pink haired fighter huffed loudly and cracked her fists. She picked up one of the elves that managed to sneak in before and grabing it by the legs she spun with all the might her berserk and body combat masteries could help, hurling the body at the advancing infantry. Wasting no time to see the results she sprinted towards the enemies, fighting alongside the defense group.

  20. Olympus was falling! With a mighty crash the gates came tumbling inwards and the elves and ents swarmed the courtyards. A series of desperate battles broke out, and Lemming calmly made her way inwards towards the castle proper as more and more ground was being taken. On her way, she took the time to stop at every few doors and use a little Geomancy to upset the threshold of stone doorways. Just enough that the doors wouldn’t close properly, and people could not seal themselves away in rooms, hiding from the invading forces… That would be such a splendidly simple way to cripple the defenses, now that the fight was coming to the castle itself. She let soldiers run by and support staff scurry about, telling anybody who questioned her that she was inspecting the building for foundation cracks- in case the thing was about to come toppling down from the boulder onslaughts.

  23. Moving through the jungle of woodlands and warriors, siege weapons and walking flora, Gwyn tried to keep light on her feet. She moved without thought, obeying instinct and the muffled panic in her chest. Still, she had a job to do. She had aligned herself to what she saw as right and while blood was a costly price to demand, if it had been her own family and friends in the place of the elves'? There was no cost too high.

What finally did stop her advance was a massive beast and a beautiful sight. The Red Oakheart had moved up with a retinue of defenders and began to batter down the doors of the Castle Dormont. It would be much harder to help push without getting caught in melee and being forced to actually draw blood of a Falderen... or a player. She chewed on the bite only recently dried up with crusted blood as she considered her options. The splintering of the doors sounded like a guillotine, lopping off the time and men that the other side could spare. They still weren't going to surrender, were they? The human resigned herself and cut through the chaos to ascend one of the battered walls, brick and cobble falling apart to make a dangerous stair case. Singed skin pulled angrily at her movements and she had to stop to pry and arrow she'd caught earlier out of the side of her armor, snapping the shaft before digging the arrowhead's point from her side.

As she crested the top she could see below the Oakheart acting as a guardian for the invading elven forces and the NPCs and PCs rushing forward to join the fight. The main hall before them was bustling with movement and Gwyn leveled a shot. The skill activated and the arrowhead and arrow shifted to be thicker, heavier, and paler. The color drained out of it and the arrowhead took on a rounded, blunted shape. She released it and the singular munition flew across the courtyard to bounce into the main hall where she could, from her angle, see only legs and moving equipment. Soon she couldn't see anything at all as massive plumes of smoke from the Shroud Shot billowed out from the arrow. Hopefully the irritation it would cause to eyes and lungs would be enough to hamper those working inside and keep them from being able to see their work. The shadows of the battlements would hide her, at least. For now.

  26. Things were not going well. Not only was there little to no sign that the Elves would halt their onslaught, but the pace in which they were overtaking the gate was uncanny. It was almost as if the elves had more people working from the inside.

Without any real time to even think about a plan or idea, Beatle found himself moving towards the fighting. At the very least, he could provide support to those engaging in combat, right? Was this the end of the Human reign in Falderen?

    “Nonsense,”
Beatle scolded himself, trying to focus on the task in front of him. “This is a video game. Either way, I’m Faerin, so I won’t really be affected... right?” The more he thought about it, the more real it became to him. Sure, it was a game for him, but the NPC’s here may not have a respawn programmed into them. This may be their one shot to live. And if that were the case, then they’d need his help to survive the incoming nightmare.

As he thought this, he spotted a player character walking from door to door. His first thought was that the player was helping to free the citizens. Thankful for the help, Beatle shot a message to the stranger.

    img
    Beatle the Bard
Hey there @Lord Lemming, glad to see you’re one step ahead of me! Think you could gimme a hand and help me escort these civilians somewhere safer? I was thinking of bringing them to the inner keep. They should be safer there.

Without waiting for a response, Beatle kicked in the nearest door and motioned for everyone in the house to move. They looked at him, terrified and confused, but offered no resistance and complied with his instructions. Beatle began playing Song of Winds to give everyone near him a speed boost, quickening the pace at which he gathered civilians.

  29. Aaron cursed as the oakheart burst through the wall. Time to prepare himself for the worst of the fighting, it seemed. He made his way to the siege grinder, as the message that was sent out said to. His sword and shield at the ready, he knew he wouldn't be able to help much to get the device ready, but he could defend those who would be. He slammed his sword against his shield, building up courage.

"Defenders, to me!" He called. "To me! Drive back these murderers, these thieves, these invaders of your homes! To me! Take up arms, defend your family! Defend your friends! Defend your land! Defend your lives!" He called. He knew at this point that only one thing could be explaining it all. Players had to be working against the effort here, working with the invaders as well. Why they would be doing that, he didn't know. What reason could they have? Just because they could? He shook his head. He didn't have time to try to figure out the minds of traitors. Right now, he had to protect the siege crew, and that was what he would do. With a prayer and a spell to strengthen his nearby allies, Aaron prepared for a hard fight.

  32. Although he has been a paragon of justice for as long as he could remember. There was nothing just about this situation. The war was so one-sided. How could he simply answer Falderen’s emergency teleport like so many other players only to freely give his blood fighting for them? The conundrum wracked his brain relentlessly as he exchanged messages with Jack, who intended to make him wha? The defacto King of Adecus Forest? Is that even possible? But the thought flirted with him, tempting him to make one of the most difficult choice he could ever make his entire life… in virtual reality no less.

Standing in the middle of the raging war, Astor turned and looked at @Ilusa with serious eyes before he opened his palm menu and furious tapped away at his keypad.

    img
    Astor Balthas
    @Ilusa Nakhalee

My guild wants to throne me as the defacto King of this castle and I am going to go for it. I don’t think players should shed blood fighting someone’s war.

Will you come with me? I am about to do something I can’t come back from.

Astor had a difficult time formulating words, telling his plan to his companion as though he was confessing a sin. The decision to betray Falderen didn’t sit right with him, but he liked the temptation of power and no matter what, nothing was going to sway him anymore.

Without waiting for Ilusa’s reply, he opened his palm menu and started sending another message, this time, globally.

    img
    Astor Balthas

The three biggest guilds, YULAN, VALOR, and COVEN will now switch side and start helping the siege. Any players who do not wish to get killed should either join us or stand down.

A few minutes after he sent the message, the raid commander, Eren Winslot turned against him, and began to thrust his great sword at the blonde without holding back. “You fucker, how could you betray us like this?! Players like you should fucking burn at the bottom of hell!!!”

In order to avoid being flagged for player killing, Astor purposely let the blade lick his arm, drawing blood, before he recited an incantation to subdue Eren. Once Astor was able to force the man against the wall, he opened his palm and pointed directly at Eren. He recited, “Zen agros ignituk formornr gyl ven thalathas demorliste!!!”

After he finished his chant, his eyes began to spark with flame as he summoned a storm of swords made of fire and hurled them against the man, killing him.

So it would happen that the assault team has brought down one of the Oakhearts that has been helping Yladia with the siege, which slowed down their progress by a lot.

Also, since the defense force wasn't able to set up the siege grinder in time, Yladian infatries were able to storm and take over the wall, pushing the defense force back to the keep, forcing them to hold out within their castle with no escape.

However, fights are still happening at the wall, for it is not entirely taken yet, until the Elves line their siege tower up against the wall and have their troop mount it. There is still time to safe the wall.

  36. Lemming moved through the castle grounds hastily as she continued her dark deeds of sabotage, pausing as several NPCs suddenly locked eyes with her and growled. Curious, she inspected them for a moment until it became obvious they were going to chase her down and killer her. That was, in a word, bad. Turning, she sprinted through the corridors and found each stairwell secured by guards who began to chase after her... leaving her only route of escape a window on the third floor. Jumping out of it, she felt the leaded glass cut at her skin as she fell down, down down, focusing her geomancy on the stone wall to make a platform jut out to land on. She clipped it with a leg and went spinning over backwards, landing on her stomach, graceless but alive. Scrambling to her feet, she looked around to notice that... every PC seemed to be attacking the defenders and letting the elves in. What the hell?

Sighing, she reached out to a shield nearby and focused on the metals in it, warping them crudely and with much difficulty into a megaphone to project her voice. It was better than nothing... Raising it to her lips, she announced her... new... allies?

"I suppose now is a good time to mention I poisoned the well, and weakened the front gate for that tree? Oh... and the doors inside, they can't close because I fucked with their thresholds. So enjoy that when we breach the walls. Not sure why you assholes are suddenly switching teams, but welcome to the winning side at last! Can I get some geomancy, pyromancy, and hydromancy over here? If we alternate... Geo can create fissures in the castle walls which hydro fills with water and freezes into ice. And then pyro can melt it into super-heated steam. Rinse and repeat: we can quickly erode our way through their defenses and form our own gate without trying to take any of their fortified positions." She lowered the megaphone, then raised it again as another thought occurred.
"Oh and... seriously don't drink the water."

  39. Everything was blood and smoke. A thousand different calls to arms rung out and orders could barely be heard over the heavy steps of the Oakhearts and Treants. Gwyn watched the smoke fade from the main hall as more of Falderen's soldiers were cut down by the Yladian forward fighters. The gates were gone, the first of the breach completed, and whatever work had been being done in the central entrance had ground to a complete and utter halt. Perhaps it was the smoke, perhaps it was- A message?

They were calling it off. They had stopped, turned heel, and set their sights on the human nation's side instead? The guild leader spoke of an elf encountered and more information gleaned. She stood, stunned, along the wall away from the heaviest of the fighting. Gwyn lashed out with a sudden fury and felt her knuckles collide with the stone parapet before her. It accomplished nothing but bloodying her hand and she trembled where she stood with her posture curling inwards. "After all that... that quick?" She laughed helplessly as she bowed forward, bent as if to protect her torso from a blow. "How fast the tides turn, huh. That's it, then. This is it." The huntress straightened and pulled her fingers harshly through her hair. They caught on tangles and sticky patches from the blood and soot collected from her dashes across the battlefield. Her ponytail was closer to a bloody flag flying at that point. She was going to sleep for days after this shit.

Gwyn sighed suddenly, the tension draining out of her in one motion as she walked listlessly across the way. Below her it was obvious that the message had gone out as the many PCs began to turn. The Falderen's were quick to catch on. The first one who saw her, she ducked beneath the slash of and hooked her bow around his ankle to throw him to the floor. Beside her one of the towers settled and she left the man to the elves quickly approaching. To the next she leveled an arrow with a cold gaze and his momentary flinch was enough for the elves behind her to move up. She left them to their fight and turned her eyes on one of the higher ranking soldiers on an opposing side of the battlements. A Power Shot caught him in his heavy armor and threw him off the side of the wall into a pile of supplies below. He'd be fine. Until more elves or the PCs lacking killing qualms got to him that was. When she heard Lord Lemming's area announcement, Gwyn laughed without any humor to her tone and spoke idly to herself. "Nice to know I'm not the only one. Or, rather, was."

  42. "Shit!" Valther growled to the heavens as the giant tinderbox smashed down the gate; seems one flamethrower was never enough. With a bestial shout, he turned and rushed for the nearest staircase, sheathing the Tusk quickly and smoothly. In too much of a rush to jump down the steps and likely break his legs in the process, he swung his legs forward and aimed his palms towards the staircase. "N-nullam!" he shouted just as his rump neared the sharp step, and frost burst from his skin and laid out smoothly down the staircase like an icy slide, and he held his arms and legs close together.

As the exit from the tower approached, he dug his heels into the ice to slow his descent and nimbly came to a stop on the cobbles of the hallway. Grasping the hilt of his blade, he slid it from the sheath in one swift movement, the blade soundless as it left the leather housing. Dashing down the hallway towards where he assumed the enemy troops would be, he was suddenly halted by a ringing sound in his ears. Stopping sharply, he raised his palm HUD and entered the messages menu. One of the players had messaged everyone in Adecus that three factions had switched sides to take down the castle together.

Caring little for the details, Val shrugged. "Guess I'm a double agent now," he groaned to himself, before tilting his head to listen to a familiar female voice, projected across the castle. Val smirked; of course Lemming would be taking part. Nodding to himself in response to Lemming's request, he placed his hand against the cobbled wall to his right and focused his mana into the stones.

    "Frigus."

In no more than a second a large portion of the wall was flash frozen, the ice already jarring the stones apart. Turning and aiming both his palms at his creation, he whispered "Calor," and the air between him and the wall began to heat up, and the ice began to hiss and bubble, melting into water, then evaporating into steam, and the segment of the wall he'd frozen came crashing down in front of him. "Some chaos is always nice~"
