  3. Others joining the fray began to chip away at foundations and she wondered just how long it would take for them to fix what they had broken once this was all said and done. There was no way this would end without far more damage done to the now thoroughly battered castle. Even with things moving inside there were still scattered fights on the walls, in the towers connected, and all along the paths that cut up along the wall and into the courtyard below. Gwyn narrowed her eyes on one of the few remaining pots of hot oil they had acting as a stalwart defense, a soldier running for it. There were elves below its position on the siege towers, working their way up.

As she fought the impressive draw weight of her weapon and watched down the line of the arrow, she activated her skill. This invasion force was an impressive fight and she was beginning to feel incredibly winded if the wheezing against the physical and emotional battering she'd been taking meant anything. Gwyn had to stop to remind herself to check her stance and posture. The Ranger's boot caught on the cobble, but she steadied and calmed the next attack's aim. The Precision Shot was a blur of movement and nothing else to all but the sharpest of eyes. With the collision of the arrow and one of the bolts locking the cauldron into place, a ringing whine of metal giving way could be heard from afar. As could the soldier's frantic cussing as it leaned to fall the other way. Hot oil instead sloshed harmlessly into the interior of the hard side of the castle's turf while the elven invasion force on the other side was left to rise in peace.

Gwyn could surmise that this wouldn't be out beneath the sky's gaze for much longer. The fight would have to move indoors, regardless of how much she had enjoyed the advantage of the outdoors as a ranger. For now she found she could busy herself with finding a tactically sound entrance to the body of the castle to keep on and continue pressing their newfound advantage.

  6. It didn't take long for Alpha to notice a new message that pinged up in her board and, freeing one of her hands from the glowing roots, she quickly glanced over and typed out a message.

its a bit scary but we re gonna protect the yidans or whatever theyre called! SO COOL!!! might have 2 ditch mom and dad cuz we were gonna eat dinner somewere out tonite

Her spelling was a bit worse than usual (which was still grammatically terrible) due to her preoccupations but it didn't do much to deter her enthusiasm. If they could take down this wall and talk to the King of Falderen then they could get the whole story and save both the kingdom and the elves! And no one would get hurt since it was, well, just a wall! She didn't really care about the aftermath about who got to be the new king and whatnot; she wasn't the type to make commands or commit to a bunch of decisions, being whimsical. She was more of a follower in this type of way and, with that, she was satisfied with her orders. Without further ado, she removed her hands from the platform and, with a quick slash of her dagger, rendered one of the siege weapons inoperable. Then, after her quick act of sabotage, she turned around and looked for those who seemed injured. She'd heal anyone who'd need it.

  9. As he was really getting into the combat a message popped up from his guild master... Noah read and reread the message about three times before he finally had it sink in, they were going to flip sides. All that killing he had done was for nothing it seemed. Unlike players NPCs lives were not expendable...this whole fight was starting to become way more complicated than it needed to be. Well nothing he could do now. He hopped down from the machine he had been using and ran off towards the inside of the castle. He would mow down any guards he would see that would prevent the ending of this conflict. Yulan Dragons would still come out on top.

Running back inside the castle,Noah was met with a small squadron of human soldiers. They were not any players but NPCs. Having already slayed a great deal of NPCs at this point, he was reluctant to act against these men but his duty to Yulan Dragons urged him to find them. With his sword drawn Noah charged at the men. In this close quarters his rogue skills shined brightly. He was able to utilize the walls to bouce above the men, confusing the heck out of them. As he came down he crashed right ontop of them. A few quick wacks to the back of their head would render them unconscious. He was going to try his best to end this will a bit less bloodshed if he could. These men were just following orders from a king they had no personal relationship with. They were just doing their job and Noah was doing his.

  12. There seemed to be plenty of attention focused on killing off the non player character soldiers that still populated the inner sanctum of the walls, but with each elf that penetrated the castle's broken defenses, with each betrayal of the chaotic player characters, that tide of soldiers dwindled to a ripple on still waters. Though not unfelt, their retaliation was insignificant in the face of sudden betrayal. She had to hand it to them... it was brave to continue on like that. But foolish. Turning her attention upon a pocket of nearby soldiers, she aimed her staff at them and channeled her dark purpose through it, placing upon them a hex of slumber. One by one the men collapsed to the floor in a sudden and undisturbed sleep as the battle raged around them. They might prove useful for information, or as political tools, later. Why everyone else was trying not to take prisoners was beyond her understanding.

  15. As the siege advanced, Rook had retreated into the tower since it was set far enough back not to see too much action beyond the soldiers using magic and ranged weaponry. There was a reason they had chosen the safer place, after all. Merkaba had specifically instructed their guild not to overextend themselves or put themselves in danger, to leave when worried, and so Rook was doubly set on doing so. They had no opinion for either side. It was simply entertaining to watch the show. It was like looking back and watching a historical reenactment in real time. Notifications popped up of World Chat and they missed the first of the Black Star messages, but opened when the second one pinged. The caster figured if Merkaba was bothering then perhaps it was important?

Things are progressing quickly. We have created a temporary 'alliance' with the YULAN and the VALOR guilds. Several of their members have joined in this ploy. We will assist in granting them control of the castle. Do not question me. Our reward we will be even greater once I have reached out to align us with the demonic forces.

    All for the dark gods.

Demons. Sure, there were demands that they go turncoat and lash out at the Falderens they had previously fought with at her command, but demons? Malefimancy rose the moment they reached toward the cards. Did it know something about them? Perhaps. It wasn't the type to share unless there was something it wanted in return for the information. Rook had nothing to offer but an outlet for its power and Rook wasn't going to hold that hostage from the planar deity. No, their expression morphed into one of absolute glee and excitement. "Demons," they whispered in awe. How interesting!

    The Moon, Reversed. The Tower.
    Deceit. Disaster.

The power of Malefimancy poured through the connection between Rook's Astramancy and the tarot cards. The Sunken Tower's Serpent cast a blight around Rook that immediately had the line of soldiers gasping for breath. They clawed at their throats, their eyes, their noses as the very air turned heavy with illness. Too feeble to protect themselves from the coming onslaught and wickedly cursed, they would die at the hands of the approaching elven waves. The caster sunk a bit more mana into the world and teleported a fair distance away with Arcanamancy before a soldier's blade could weakly wave their way in retribution. "Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Heard, The Many? More of other walks to meet at crossroads further past the tapestry's threads. How many hands more, This One wonders?" They smiled, golden eyes wide with excitement. Things had improved massively for all but the human nation it seemed.

  18. She felt the stone underneath her feet tremble and the creaking sound of wood giving out reached her ears.

    That… Did not sound good.

The following words from the world message made her wince. Ah, the gate was breached.

    That, was bad.

She was not yet strong enough to have a reliable regeneration spell on her and could be overwhelmed when the damage dealt to her was greater than what she could heal. And that was horrible because it meant that she would not have enough time to heal more people!

When she moved to another downed soldier, her shoulder bloomed with pain and she hissed, glancing at it. There was an arrow in it, stuck inside, but luckily the force behind it was weak enough that the arrowhead did not dig in deeply. It was easy to pull it out, but still, some of her health bar became lowered. It was a minimal loss, so she simply continued on with her stuff.

Ilusa felt an intense look on her and glanced back to where Astor stood, staring at her seriously. She offered him a confused smile. Then he typed in a message. She glanced at it, but spared it no more than quick affirmation, outloud. “I’ll follow you!” Simply because knowing his luck? He would be hurt again and need her help again. The blonde was reliable in that way; always there to have her have someone to heal.

Perhaps if she had heard it instead of seeing it written down, it would have prepared her for what happened next.

“…Eh?” Which was why when she heard someone yelling about betrayal, she was confused... Just as when an elf found their way there and killed the soldier she just finished healing, his grateful look turning into confusion then death; critical strikes straight to heart, neck or head were mean like that.

Then, without thinking, she scrambled back, back to @Astor Balthas who-

Just killed another player yet was not a Player Killer…? In this confusion, she glanced at the world message and her eyes widened.

She glanced around, seeing players turning on the soldiers right in the open. Players laying their weapons and not joining either side after seeing the tide of the battle.

…It really reminded her too much of reality right now.

Still, it made her stand behind Astor and chant a healing spell; small one, to adequately heal his health and keep her levels of energy appropriate.

Next she glanced around, still standing behind him, as if fretful, looking for people to heal. Still, no matter which side, healer had a job and neither side lacked people to heal. She could not heal the soldiers anymore, but there were the new ‘allies’ those that openly attacked the soldiers, helped the elven people…

And so she healed them, from behind Astor. That was the best part of her skillset, she could do it from afar. Ancient, incompressible to most, syllables flew from her lips and light bent, strands reaching out to those in need. Healed a scarred woman with huge weapon (@Gwyn ap Herne), an elf that seemed to be cut pretty badly, a woman who informed them to not drink the water (@Lord Lemming).

  21. Sera frowned. She didn't like the fact she was being asked now to betray people she had been helping. But if she didn't, she would be betraying Steele. She placed a hand on her stomach. There was no choice between the two to be made. With the way things where now, in this world, no matter what the options were, if one was Aaron, that would now always be the one she choose.

Tapping into her naturalmancy, Sera began to cast healing spells on the elves as they poured into the castle. She did so with a tiny bit of flair, so that they would know she was the one healing them. Yet she couldn't hide her frown. So this is what she got for trying to help people? Learning they were wicked, worse than they people she was trying to help them against? She laughed to herself. Fine then. If the people of this world where evil, she wouldn't trust them again. Their money was good at least.

  24. Aaron cursed as it seemed suddenly all the players turned on the castle and assisting the elves in its destruction. People he had once stood side by side with now turned on him. He sighed heavily, seeing the message that Astor had sent out. This is why he hated guilds.

"I won't fight you," he said. He lowered his sword. "I know when I'm beat. I don't know why you're doing this. But if it's so many of you, then I can't believe it's just for greed or anything wicked. If you morally believe these elves are right, go on with your actions. Just swear to me, swear! Swear that you will not harm the lives of the innocents who live here," Aaron pleaded. He frowned. "If you'll permit it, bring me the injured of both sides, that I may heal them. There is no need for further death."

If they permitted him, Aaron would begin healing those nearby who needed any healing in order to live. He didn't pay attention to their race or who's side they were on. If they were injured, he tried to heal them. As such, he would help neither side specifically, making no progress for either. Though he would request to all those that he healed that the leave the battlefield.

When he finished helping those nearby, if he was allowed, he would simply leave the battlefield. He wouldn't fight for a cause he didn't believe in.

  27. The breaching of the gate had brought panic and even more chaos to the already strained relief efforts in the central courtyard. Zaos started to retreat with the others into the inner keep, not wishing to be caught up in the battle that was now spilling into the castle. Then his message alert system when wild and he paused. Falderen was refusing aid to the eleven refugees fleeing from hostile invaders of their own? Enslaving them, even? The faerin tucked himself into a corner as the messages continued to flood into the world chat, telling how his guild had joined with the others to side with the elves. "Well, shit," he mumbled, realizing that he was in serious trouble. He couldn't stay here any longer.

Moving as quickly as he could, he darted towards the attacking elves, bashing an NPC soldier over the head with his staff when the man tried to block his way. His staff wasn't much more than a glorified stick, but it was enough to stun the soldier long enough for Zaos to slip past him.

  30. Gwyn was startled out of her intensive scouring of the castle's outside defenses within the wall as @Ilusa Nakhalee's spell targeted her. She's fought this entire time in the guise of anonymity and cloaked in shadows so to suddenly had her attention grabbed by eyes on her was unsettling. They were all on the same side now, but they'd been unknowing enemies she had danced around since the beginning of the fight. The archer looked down at the caster and gave a shallow bow in her direction as thanks. Even with the rejuvenating aid of the other player's spell, she still felt like death warmed over. She was beginning to think that was more of a personal problem rather than a physical one though.

Next to the healer stood a face she'd not met, but knew of. Yulan's leader was it? Asten? Aster? She really should pay more attention to idle chatter to players, but @Astor Balthas stood below and so she called out to him for lack of anything better. "My guild leader isn't here, but I got the message. If you're the only one with authority I'd bet you're the one who should be calling for the Falderen's surrender. Offer them safe passage home or whatever, yeah?" Gwyn suddenly brought the longbow up to fire off another Precision Shot that knocked a warhammer from a soldier's grip further down the wall. Instead of bashing in the head of the elf he was fighting, it tumbled behind him with a clatter. She didn't bother waiting to see what the elven mage would do. "The longer this goes on the worse the future relations get, I imagine."

With that she swung herself down one of the rope lines used in a pulley system to bring supplies up to the top of the wall. It dropped her nearer to more of the gathered PCs for the first time since the assault began. Gwyn still didn't feel entirely safe or comfortable in her own skin.

  33. Ju’s fists tighted more than ever as she glanced upon the system messages. Large walls of text explained the situation and how the biggest three guilds formed an alliance to support the siege. In response, Ju gritted her teeth and glanced over the battle ensues, aware of most of the elves she was the one responsible for bringing down.

With rage built up inside, the grappler spun on her right heel launching a powerful high kick to a soldier’s neck in a counter-clockwise motion, sending her opponent unconscious to the ground. A few elves nearby in the middle of the siege stopped, unsure of what just happened. Ju sighed, filling her lungs with the maximum of air she could muster.

“WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT!” She pointed towards the castle “GO, NOW! FIGHT!” as the message finally came across to the elves, they let a war roar from their mouths, charging forward. “This better be a good decision, boss.”

Noah crept among the stairwell in the castle with caution and silence. It seemed that all of the major guilds of the game so far had came together to fight against this so called evil government. While most of the communication had been done via the guild chat feature, this did not stop the NPCs from catching on. Noah had to be careful, he was in the minority inside the castle, though he was bound to run into a guild mate roaming these halls eventually right? At the very least a member from one of the other guilds. Speaking of, he had never really met any of those members at all...minus Aaron Steele, that man was fearsome though. That man was able to slice people in half, this early in the game on that note. Lord knew what his strength had grown to in the week or so since Noah had seen him.

As he was reaching the end of the stairs, Noah heard the sound of a few soldiers’ voices. He peaked his head out slightly to see five men standing in a circle arguing on what course of action they should take. Noah also became aware of a few pillars scattered throughout the room that might allow him to sneak past without being spotted. With a bit of haste, Noah started to make his way around the enemy soldiers. If he was right this route would take him near the garrison of the castle. He might be able to cause a bit of mischief and mayhem if he played his cards right.

It seemed that the super, sneaky, skillful rogue mastery was allowing Noah to bypass the guards with relative ease. As he made his way to the other side of the room was two hallways. He bit his lip as he debated which one to go down. Doing a quick pick, he opted for the left and deeper into the castle. Upon walking down the hallway he found himself in front of a massive garrison filled with armor and weapons. A grin crossed his face, seemed that his luck paid off. Noah entered the room and begun plotting what his next course of action would be, all he knew was that whatever the route, the ending would be magical and hopefully scale tipping for Yulan.

  38. In response to the new development, Astor continued to fire his fire spells at enemies all around him, slaying both NPC and players who aren’t with him. After murdering Eren Winslot, he realized that the ‘Player Killing’ status doesn’t apply when players are in designated war zones. In order to prevent confusion, he realized that he needed to take charge and become a raid commander while he waits to meet up with the assault team. Wiping sweat from his brows, Astor took some time to calm down and recollect his thought. When @Ilusa Nakhalee came to his side, he put an arm in front of her as if to protect her.

“This place is starting to become really dangerous, you going to be able to take care of yourself? I need to ‘tag’ up and lead this madness…” he said as a heavy sigh accented his speech.

With his eyes flitting around from one end of the long-running wall to the other, watching the war unfold, he spotted @Ju Huan-Xiang and waved to her, she seemed rather annoyed, but it was something Astor had to deal with at some point. In the corner of his eyes, he noticed another problem. Players were confused at who was an enemy and who wasn’t and ended up attacking indiscriminately. That was a bad sign. If anything, Astor knew he needed to get the situation under control.

Opening up his palm menu, he navigated himself through various menus to get to where he needed to be. After he tagged up as a raid commander, he made another event chat announcement.

    *Astor Balthas

Greetings, I am the new raid commander for the siege group. If anyone had seen the world chat alerts then they would have known that the three top guilds are now working with Yladia to take over Castle Dormont.

Anyone who is fighting with us should join a mass party invite I will put out shortly. Since there is no friendly fire in a party, it is not our responsibility if any of the players on the resistance force die from the crossfire. Again, lay down your arms or die. I am not asking again.

  41. Lemming watched the chaos and the carnage with mild amusement as she yawned and sat on top of a sleeping officer that she had hexed into slumber, protecting him as it were from pointless assassination by camping his body and preventing the elves or the players from running up and committing heinous murder of her prisoner of war. Gwyn, the huntress with who she had worked, seemed to have similar understanding of the situation as she shouted at the fire mage to offer terms of surrender to those within the castle. People who, if she was not mistaken, were just going to make this worse and worse the longer they drew things out.

She accepted the party invite, appreciating the fact that all the damage being thrown around her would no longer matter if it came from people in the party. Normally of course she'd have declined such a thing but... what if the fire mage decided to start carpet-bombing places and she happened to be in one? No, it was much safer this way. But of course that would do nothing to protect her prisoners... and she resigned herself to the fact they were likely to be executed even if they survived this battle. Such seemed to be the mindset of these people: total victory, absolute carnage. The Picts had pierced Hadrian's wall with her help, and now Rome felt itself tremble in rage and terror at the insult. There would be a reckoning. But first thing was first... Rising, she walked up to the fortress and shoved aside some elves and ents that were trying to batter their way through a heavily fortified steel and wood doorway.

"Sometimes the patient approach works best," she cooed as she placed her staff upon the door and began to curse it with her dark magic, working a rot into the wood and a rust upon the metal. She blinked as a light filled the sky behind her... A signal of some sorts.

Despite all of its effort. It seemed that Yladia was unable to fully take the wall before night descends. By now, the defending troops have managed to repel the invaders and the traitorous, but only by a bit. Before the Yladian troops lose any more of its soldiers, the siege camp had launched a magical signal into the air, ordering their troops to fall back.

Considering that they had opened the gate into the inner keep, not all of the Yladian soldiers could retreat, instead, they set up a makeshift camp right outside of the castle, up against the wall. That was the safest bet because then the inner keep can't barrage them with projectiles.

For now, the siege group should meet up in the megathread and rest until further notice. Take this time to develop your characters or to do more relaxed RPs.

    Damage
Damage: Everyone who have posted thus far must subtract 10% HP and 10% EN from the appropriate bbcodes. No modifier. This indicated the long battle up until now with supports present.

    Instruction
It is now nightfall, which means this thread is effectively locked until the assault group consolidates with the siege group in the early morning (in the RP). The DM will mark when it is time.

All of those who wish to side with the three guilds and Yladia should be retreating back to the makeshift camp, which is located in this megathread.
