[INVITE] Exploring Norfova: Merkaba/Rein

  1. Red sky of dusk.
    Barren earth of the damned.
    Vile air of the corrupted.

How truly magnificent. Elizabeth would be hard pressed to find such a place in the prime dimension. Yes there were deserts and swamps, bogs and ruins, even in that world but here... here there were actual places like this. So corrupted and broken to the will of darkness. It's life stripped from it leaving only the carcasses of the weak and unchosen. Those who remained were forever altered... enlightened to the ways of the dark. The need for their own primitive survival. Truly dark gods were rejoicing over their victory of this region.

Merkaba walked with her black dress and silver hair down past her waist. Dead twisted trees wound their way into the air around her. The ground was filled with cracks as small unidentifiable insects crawled in and out of them. The howls of beasts seeking their next blood feast filled the air. The dark lady took it all in and exhaled the air of death and destruction. Yes this was the perfect land for her cult to grow from. To build her Kingdom of Babylon. It was a wonderful tribute to her and her beliefs... she would have to thank the blood witches... oh right. They were no longer here. How unfortunate that they could not see Merkaba turn their creation into her domain? Oh well...

Stepping out of the bleak forest of dread. She checked her quest notes again. The only reason she even took these things was for the income. It was not yet possible to transfer her funds into this world. So she needed to earn a living and dealing with the masses no matter which world she was in. The goal was to explore the region of Norfova, or as it was once known... Norfolk Virginia. Those witch hunters would have never imagined this being their precious lands fate would they?

Her scythe generated into her right hand it's shaft hitting into the barren earth that was infested beneath the surface with a plague of insects. Her voice called to the man from this world who had become her follower, or at least was following her around. Whichever way you would want to see it.

"Rein. Your dimension does have it's beauty does it not? Some day everywhere will know this dark barren bliss. I could only hope to bring it to those of the prime."

  2. Rein crouched in front of a fascinating site, a decomposing boar. Or rather what was left of a decomposing boar, as half of it had been torn apart and likely eaten by some unknown animal. The sight of former life in Norfova was rare, most of the land had been decimated by some holy power. As such most of what one would come across were sun bleached bones or long rotting corpses that had turned into a pile of muck. The boar, on the other hand, was no more than a few days old. It had likely gotten lost and wandered into this area by mistake, and then set upon by the few ravenous predators that still remained. Rein poked its remaining organs with his fingers, letting out a delighted squeal as a maggot plopped out falling to the dust.

As he played with the remains, he suddenly heard a voice. It was that girl, Merkalot, or whatever the weird player character who was out for destroying this plane of existence, or at least something that involved a lot of fun. Looking around he tried to figure out exactly where she was, she wasn't nearby, but he had a good idea of her location somehow. Must have been some sort of dark magic. It was a shame, and Rein had never actually learned more than a few air mastery spells, everything after that had just been intuition. He often wondered how effective he could be with actual dark magic. Then again that'd require him to chant, and draw specific things that he honestly didn't have the patience for.

Rein stood up brushing off the decaying animal flesh as he did so. He wasn't that far away from the player; he rarely spent time too far for too long just in case she did something really fun. However, he could say the same about the other two he had met in her presence. All of them seemed to know a good time, though Rein thought they took the business far too seriously. Whats the point of fun, if you're not having fun?

Rein empowered himself through his Aeromancy quickly becoming cloaked in a barrage of wind. Taking off towards Merkaba's direction each of his movements was aided by his magic allowing him to clear the distance in the matter of a few minutes. He arrived with a cruel smile plastered across his face, hoping the girl had some mind of violence tonight, "If the entire world could turn into a paradise like this! I don't even know what I'd do to contain myself!" He let out a long cackling laugh. Today was going to be a good day.

  3. Merkaba turned slightly to look at the man. His windy aeromancy magic fading away. The power of lightning and wind... Elizabeth did not have much desire or love for having such elements but it did not mean that she was unaware of other elements abilities. She read through every magic mastery description when she transitioned into her new form in this world. She did not trust the creators in the slightest to reveal the full potential or even the entire roster of magic. Why they had said nothing of some of the dark manipulations that Merkaba was gaining more and more mastery of. It would be no surprise then if other magical schools also could do more than was obvious. Still, the man should consider to embrace the darkness if he wanted to be accepted into perfect embrace of the dark, The man's personality was so unstable though... maybe not. Dark magic took a very good head to maintain.

"You would likely continue to be very much as you are I imagine."

Merkaba said without much emotion as Rein finished spouting his excited comment. The 33rd dimensional resident was always so... spastic. It was like that stupid girl Alphabet but dipped in a room of headbangers... the thought of Rein in such a place was actually very amusing. Her mind then shifted straight to the current task. One that was somewhat dull but very beneficial to her. Searching this desolate land.

"Rein, stay by my side for a time. I do not want one of the few of this world who understand anything properly to perish. Not without my consent."

The dark witch began to slowly move on. Heading deeper into the cursed land of Norfova. Her pumps tapping on the dry ground as she walked. Dark birds, possibly a type of vulture circled overhead. They were likely waiting for her and Rein to become their next meal. The witch would talk some more with the NPC. He was someone she may be able to scrounge more information about this world from.

"So now... Rein. This world. You want to see it fall into destruction? I want to see it as a place where all of my followers from both worlds can live the splendors of darkness. I have for very long taught that the dark gods exist forever striving to show the sheep of humanity their true purpose. You are different than the rest of your peers. That is because the dark gods see you as a shepherd. I am not from here.... you may have been chosen specifically to guide me into your world so that I may convert it."

Merkaba would let the thought think in.

"What is it that your peers believe in, how do they view the world? What are their weaknesses, their strengths? And... how do they view you shepherd?"

Merkaba would not even consider the NPC value of the people of this world. No, they were real and had all the same possibility of being converted as anyone else.

  4. Rein let out a hearty chuckle as he looked down at the desolate area he had come to in such a frenzy. Even though it laid so close to a forest the dirt was loose and plant life was all but dead. It truly was a fitting environment for such delightful company. Rein tried to listen as closely to Merkaba as his patience would allow. She had a meandering method to getting her points across, then again most players did. The main difference was she didn't shy away from the true nature of reality. Rein subconsciously tensed his hand, sending small tendrils of electricity up his forearm, before attempting to answer her first question.

"A guide? No, no, no. Hahahaha. No. I know what I am, but I don't think you're ready to understand that yet. I don't understand it yet. It's something more conceptual, something more ethereal haha... You need not worry about my life, I've brought myself back from the brink once already! Death in this world is as permanent to me as it is to you! Haha!"

The answer didn't seem to satisfy her as she continued on, speaking vaguely of her grand plans to revamp the world how she saw fit.

"Your vision is beautiful, the merging of the two worlds? Yes, hahaha Yes I can see it now." Rein's cackle hummed deeply from within his chest as his eyes went wide, "The ruin and destruction it will bring will annihilate both realities, and when the storm settles, and the cinders fall, only we will remain to rebuild the world in a pure and perfect vision. Yess.... The others don't understand. They believe in false gods and use magic beyond their comprehension. Fools and idol worshippers who do not KNOW TRUE POWER WHEN IT IS IN FRONT OF THEM. THE CLAMOUR FOR SAFTEY AND SCREAM IN PAIN! IDIOTS BLASPHEMERS!" By the end of his rant Rein was clutching his hair, fingers digging deeply into his scalp as he drew a small amount of blood. "They will know pain..." he said in a much more sedated tone breathing deeply as he calmed down.

Rein meditated on the thought for some time, staring at the desolate land before him as the gears in his head turned. "The symphony of screams, the rivers of blood, the tanning of broken human flesh." He began to hum to an odd song with a rhythmic melody, "Everything that is, would be all it was again, and again and again until the cycle stops, and starts again."

Rein suddenly let out a howl of laughter, as his smile forced his pale lips to disappear behind his white teeth, "But how will you do it? OOooog that is the question, the method of destruction, the path towards annihilation. What false idols will you invoke, what manner of beasts will you bring into the fray? Haha, I can't wait to see it."

  5. Merkaba listened for as long as she could tolerate of the insane man's ramblings. People thought that she was not all there... idiots all of them. This man was the very definition of mad. It was good that he was in agreement with many of her ways or she would have to ensure that he ceased to follow her for good. It was interesting though... he tlaked about being reincarnated even if he died. That meant that he had the traits of those from the prime dimension who came here. Perhaps the technology that was making these things all possible had somehow effected him? Also effecting his mental state? This could prove to be useful knowledge, that there was a few holes in the game creator's work. Elizabeth would check to see how often these oddities happened in the near future.

He then asked how she would go about her plans. How she would bring the darkness over all. That was a good question. It would take longer than she would like. Merkaba had to accept that she was not the most powerful being in this world nor the most powerful in the other. Her defeat to the spider queen, her less then perfect raid and her complete helplessness against Hastur were all proof that she needed to grow stronger and that she would need her cult to become much more powerful and influential. Every time she reached a new tier of power yet another tier of obstacle would reveal it's self to her.

"Patience. First a revolution must be formed through those who possess the power and will to accomplish it. Also... the darkness is something that seeps into the crevices of everything. Slowly corrupting it to it's will. We must find those cracks throughout this world. The masses are sheep, if the sheep who wear the crowns follow the shepherd... they two will follow in time. With proper conditioning..."

  6. (Blep I forgot about this thread until recently, I blame Snide, short for the purposes of wrapping things up, that and Rein isn't a conversationalist)

Rein cackled angrily at Merkaba’s words. Patience was not the man’s strong suit, he wanted to see the revolution soon to come now. The blood flowing through the streets, the screams of terror echoing through the night. The thought itself made his hair stand on end giving him goosebumps of excitement. He looked at Merkaba, clearly her intentions tonight were thoroughly philosophical. He supposed it made sense, normal people liked to think out their actions. Then again normal people were idiots. Rein was a man who acted purely on his impulses, it only made sense after all. Why should someone like him, ever hold back? “The cracks huh?” Rein said with a hearty laugh, clearly recovered from the early outburst, her words made the scars on his back burn however.

In a bid to force himself to calm down, Rein forced himself to the floor sitting cross legged in front of Merkaba. “I think this world is far more corrupted than you have come to realize. Sure they put on a good show, but most of the denizens are nothing but puppets to higher powers. Generals and kings, that’s where the corruption lies. Darkness oozes through their thoughts and into their lies, and slowly rots and decays those around them. Those that’d stand up fall as quickly as they do so, scaring the rest. It’s an inefficient system set up on the purports of good will and righteous. “Rein’s rambling had become worse, leading to a point of his being near incomprehensible. It was clear that he had no actual idea of what was going on in the kingdom besides what he had heard others say.

Night had begun to set in earnest as they were covered by reflection off the moon. A wolf cried in the distance, causing Rein to hop up in excitement. He knew what the howl meant, a hunt. He liked this place there really was far less killing than he’d like. With a torrent of wind, he left as quickly as he had come, heading down the sloping terrain towards the screaming wolf. Possibly uncovering something during the journey.

  7. In his haste, in the darkness, Rein is greeted with a welcome discovery; Bones. They are nearly impossible to break and and a strange red in color. One would quickly dismiss this as simple rust, except that these strange bones are glossy and smooth. Realizing their potential value, Rein will likely forget the howling wolves in the distance, and spend the remainder of his night unearthing these strange and valuable remains.

((Rein is the current individual points leader, and your collective score will added to the exploration total (which I think we've surpassed, but I'm under instructions not to launch any new challenges, so I dont even know anymore :P)

You can continue exploring, but rolls will no longer be required nor counted for this thread.))
