  3. She'd been uneasy lately, she'd admit that- but avoiding the 'issue' (or person, as the case may have been) wouldn't solve anything. It was an impulsive move to ask @Verity to join her in trying out the maze of maize set up for the festival, but somehow he'd agreed, and so she was still glad she did.

Glad, but internally shaking at the starting point. Come on, Solaria! It's a maze! You love puzzles!

She shook her head and held a hand out to the man with a small smile. The first fork in the road, and she'd already decided to point in the direction her senses said to go. "Let's start this way. We can always track back if we hit a dead end, but I'm usually pretty good with these. Still, we should try not to get separated on accident, either..." She eyed his hand awkwardly, hoping he'd accept her semi-silent request.

Internally, she gave herself a pat on the back. She was acting at least kind of normal, right?

  6. Upon he learned of this fair game from @Solaria, he can't help but try conquering it with her. Because of his changed personality, he felt like finding a challenge to test himself just by risking his life for it. As an added bonus, at least he didn't have to suffer in a dreaded drinking contest.

However, there was a little problem regarding Solaria and her sudden shyness towards him. Now that he thought about it, why did she asked him to join her to navigate the maze in the first place? Sure, he accepted her invitation because she was his friend, but just asking out of the blue made him a little concern about her.

"Good idea. Though we still have to be careful. They did warn us about some 'obstacles' other than dead ends." Game or not, he still needed to be cautious. Besides, he didn't want to stress the poor lady out.

  9. Somehow, she was certain she'd been found out- but, at least for the moment, Verity was being kind enough not to mention just how awkward the healer appeared. If anything, he tried to change the subject to remind her to focus on the obstacles that might come to pass them as they wandered the corn field.

And it came rather quickly, as she heard sounds of strangers yelling a name.

Rushing ahead she found someone, a young man seeking help finding his little brother. The fear in the stranger's eyes fell upon her own, glazing over as she rushed to Verity's side once more and tugged on his hand, recklessly opting to pause their navigation. "There's a child lost here. We have to find him, Verity! He's only a little kid!"

Desparation was set on her face, tears slightly grabbing her eyes. It was as if she was fearing for the child's life, as if it were her own flesh and blood. But it wasn't. It was just a child. A little brother to someone, a son to others. A child that she needed to find, now.

  12. While he expected traps and dead ends, Verity didn't expect a stranger in the middle of the maze. He was suspicious of this person, yet he noticed that her emotions and tears regarding their missing younger brother. He would ignore him out of safety, but that would be very heartless for him to do so. Besides, he was never the type to ignore a help in need.

"Good idea. But we should act fast. I don't know if he might get caught in a trap if we don't." Abandoning the navigation for a while, Verity searched the area while he focused his ears to follow the source of the child's cry. Sure, he didn't have any masteries to help them, but all he can do was to rely on his hearing to find him.

Eventually, he noticed a faint cry on his right, which he ran closer as the crying grew louder. "Over there. Come on." Hoping that Solaria was following him, Verity rushed to where the child might be while he wished that nothing has happened to him yet.

  15. Verity had a good point about the traps in this place- if they had to be warned, what would a small child do if they found one? It was certain the boy wasn't too far away, though. Verity seemed to be able to find him much more quickly than she was able to hear him. It was a good reminder to calm down.

The man said to just follow my heart. So why is it still beating so fast?

When the child's cries grew louder, clearly coated in fear, Solaria ran past Verity after following him and nearly flew to the little one's side. She hugged the little boy until his tears dried up on her dress, his small voice becoming less intimidated. Not far from them, his family ran after, apparently able to recognize they'd found him.

"Be more careful and stay close together, okay? Don't make each other cry." Her smile was warm and sincere, her tone almost maternal in some way or another. "I promise you, you were both equally scared. I've had this happen before on my own. I have a little brother too you know. One just your age~"

Patting the little boy's head, she watched the family wander off, apparently beginning the return of their exploration of the maze as a group, unrelated to the race at hand. To Verity, she held a hand out with a grateful grin. "I'm really glad we found him... Now we can find the exit without fear, right?"

  18. Just seeing the family reunited almost warmed his heart. If they would ignore their request to find their child over the maze, then it would be very hurtful and regrettable at the same time. At least they would able to reward with the good karma despite his awareness of the low chances to quickly navigate this area.

"You're right. It's better than finding him than to navigate the maze with regret." He said as he watched the family left the maze with their found child. "Right now, we should return to same direction we left off. Come on." With that, he turned to the said direction and walked through the maze with a cautious manner and the hopes of Solaria following him.

  21. It was a relief that he agreed with her- but it wasn't something Solaria found surprising, in reality. Her view might have been a bit biased when it came to the man, but she was fairly certain of his kindness- even if, the first time they'd met, he'd been a bit more than 'rough around the edges'.

In a way, it was kind of amazing how much things could change with time.

"Right behind you~" She chirped not long after he noted the best method for them to return to the task at hand. She followed him with a brisk pace, keeping up the best she could while trying to purposely stay just slightly behind him, to the side- not quite too close, but not too far. Just the right distance to keep from potentially losing her mind to her inner thoughts and reckless intentions.

Of course, that didn't mean she wouldn't do something stupid anyway. They were alone in a maze. This was the best time to ask him certain things, wasn't it? She pondered her questions, but struggled to actually say any of them out loud. For someone supposedly strong, I really am a coward with things like this...

Well, she had time. They were just barely halfway through, about, weren't they?
