  1. While most of the players are fully invested in the world after a month in Terrasphere, Verity wasn't interested in them at all. As his thoughts were mostly leaned towards the cynical thoughts towards the current events and the curiosity of this game, he thought of this game as a plain distraction to the real world. But with the looming war due to the king's paranoia to the kingdom of Astoria created by the players, he knew this was enough to make him stop playing this game.

He was just finished what he felt to be his last quest for this game in Druuk Island, which was just a simple fetch quest for a strange NPC who wanted to give these items to some important people. He didn't say who or why, though he just shrugged it off, thinking this one has the same format as the others. It's not a grand quest or anything for him to leave with a bang, but he hoped this one won't force him into another crazy situation or event once again. At this point, he planned to quit the game in peace afterward.

Unfortunately, this was completely derailed as he ended up being knocked out by a bandit and ended up as a prisoner who will be sacrificed for this so-called "poison massacre". In his honesty, this was not the way he would leave the game, but considering that the death in the game might be synonymous with the deletion, he might as well get it over it. Just one death and he will quit the game for good.

"Hey, don't tell me you're going to give up your life because those people just confiscated your weapons."

As he heard this, he turned around and saw a blindfolded man sitting right next to his cell. From his appearance, he can tell he might look like a hardened warrior who seemed to see better days from his life. "Don't get the wrong idea. I'm just simply leaving this world. I just feel it's time to wake up from this craziness and return to my own reality." He wanted to tell him that he was actually quitting the game. Yet just one look at the muscled man seemed to be an NPC for this kind of event. So for the programming's sake, he might try to watch his words regarding the game terms, which didn't bother him at all since he was about to leave the game for good.

"By committing suicide? Tch... You're more of an idiot than a prisoner here," the man said as he shook his shackles while he put his hands over his lap. "Look, this world is a crazy place for you to survive. You may treat this as a game, but for us, it's a life-or-death situation. And yet, you even quitting without knowing what's life in store for you. I wondered how did you able to survive all the way here despite your disinterest with the living."

Verity sighed just as the blindfolded man said those words. He actually did some crazy things such as the Azogg fight and the quests he had to do in his spare time. Even calling him an idiot did lose his calm composure for a moment. "It's a lot more complicated than you think. I'm only here just to see what this world offered to me. So I'm not interested in power and fame around here. And even with the number of people I met here, I feel most of them are not trustworthy." With his memory of his former friend's betrayal still lingered in his mind, he felt that none of the players here (with the exception for Solaria) can be trusted. And with his complete focus on his real-life occupation, he knew that he wasn't meant to play this more often. Besides, all of this was just a game, a made-up fantasy. Who would even take everything in this virtual world so seriously?

The blindfolded man seemed to understand what he said, yet he frowned for some reason. "Complicated or not, it seems you're choosing the mediocre life just to escape this risks of trusts and the dangers. In fact, you're turning more of a coward than a retiring adventurer." Those words were enough for Verity to turn around and glare at the man for his remark against him. "It looks like I've managed to wake you a bit. But no matter what kind of trouble you had in your past, you don't have to use it just to justify your reasons here. In fact, you seemed to have no motivation to learn your role here. I know no one is a hero, but that doesn't mean you have to make your mark right now."

Then without letting the other prisoners or their captors see them, the man pulled out some kind of bottle and tossed it to Verity. "What is this supposed to be?" As he took a closer look at it, he noticed that the bottle contained a strange yellow liquid as well a label that has strange runic language that he even can't understand what it meant. From this, he guessed it must be some kind of a potion.

"Let's just say it might able to change your mind." That was all he can say before the blindfolded man as he lied down in bed to sleep. Seeing that he has to figure out for himself, he stored the bottle in his pocket before he did the same. Though before he drifted off to unconsciousness, he wondered what kind of potion did he just gave him.
