staring at death I take a breath

Fire.
It was burning brightly, the entire area almost coated in flames. And yet, she stood in the middle of it all, her green eyes glowing with the light of the flames. Most would be scared to be her, or even in front of her. And yet, Wild Rose felt calm, the calmest she has felt in quite sometime. It was like the flames were purifying her anger, her distress, and sending it away into the abyss where it belonged. Taking a breath, she feels her lips curl up into a smile. She could already see it in her mind's eye, what she would look like when she could master the flames. With another breath, she let go, the flames puttering out since she was no longer maintaining them.
But her mind was looking towards the future.
The click of her heels on stone. The swish each time she moved by her dress' hem. The beautiful red cloth that draped over her body, the top tight and the bottom loose and free. Maybe even a cape if she felt fancy. But most of all, the blade at her side was beautiful. Crafted solely for it, when she opened her eyes it would start to slowly ignite. The flames would work along a spiraling, twisting pattern. And then, with a flick of her wrist, the flames would burst into life, curling, eager to fight.
Around her neck, a necklace of roses and thorns.
The girl let out a sigh, even as she fell backwards on to the soft grass. She could see it so clearly, with the flames dancing around her, twisting like hungry snakes. Yet, she was not on that level. She was not even close to it. Rather, she was just starting, so she couldn't even accomplish a bit of what she was dreaming of. And yet, part of her was eager, for the more she tried, the closer she would get wouldn't she? Still, it was so far away. She had never worked so hard for an ephemeral image in her mind before. Sure, she had ideas and wants, and inspirations, but this was the first time she was truly pushing herself for it. Her eyes went to the sky, taking in it's bright blue color.
''Ah, I wonder what's pushing me forward?'' she said aloud to herself.
