The room glowed with only the light from a computer monitor, too bright for some but typical for Joe. Her eyes darted back and forth between the screen and her phone, both hands occupied; fingers held a 'w' key in place for a game on the screen as a ship hurtled through space, the other fingers tapping away in a messaging app. "I'm getting on." Joe had already been on the game for a half hour now, taking time to acclimate herself to it after having spent so much time in Terra Sphere. The girl had something of an image to keep up when it came to her friend, and being proficient in this computer game (and any other, for that matter) was important to her. She adjusted herself in her seat, knees pulled up to her chest with one arm held out from her, the other stabilizing her phone on her knee. Joe rhythmically tapped the screen of her cell to keep it from dimming and locking, despite having changed the setting to a two minute timer long ago. It was one of many nervous habits. She took in a deep breath and winced, her eyes watering in response. Something had been left in her room a few days ago, and it seemed to have begun to smell of..something. Joe couldn't remember if it was pizza or cereal. She took another whiff and assumed the latter. The girl adjusted the skullcap on her head that kept her hair away from her face, then pulled the collar of her sweater up and over her nose. She would take out the dish later, after she finished gaming with Niki. Speaking of.. "You coming?" It had been maybe two minutes of waiting, but some anxious habit had Joe wanting to send an armada of texts to validate her own self-worth as seen through the eyes and willingness of her one and only friend. Joe settled for just the one followup; despite her desperate nervousness, she trusted Niki not to flake on her. Joe held back a yawn and fought back tears while she avoided blinking.
