    TIME UNTIL RESPAWN - 3:30

Before you lies a deep dark. It could even be acquainted with space, as nary a sound reaches your ears.

And yet it is so much worse. Sound may be gone, yet that is not the only sense to have left you.

You cannot see, for in front of your body is nothing. A vast expanse of black lies before you to confront your eyes.

You cannot smell or taste. Like a dream, not even the flavor of your spit or tongue assails your buds to keep you company as you travel this world.

There is no touch. You may step forward in this place and your leg may stop as it touches the floor but there is no jolt- no feeling of impact with something solid beneath your feet nor vibration up your leg.

You are unsure if you had even moved forward with these steps. Your senses of Distance, Direction, and Spatial Awareness are all unaccounted for.

Far emptier than mere space, this is a land with absolutely nothing in it- without matter, energy nor concept.

This is a place nonexistent and you will never leave it. The concept of escape is not here.

    TIME UNTIL RESPAWN - 2:00

You feel a pull. From where? You aren't sure. Direction does not exist, and so you are unable to discern from where you are being called. Still, you feel your first sense- that of relief. Unsure as to why but certain of it you know that you won't be in this godforsaken place forever. You're going to be taken from this place and back to your true state of being... with freedom of movement and breathing and really bad jokes that sometimes play with the reader.

    TIME UNTIL RESPAWN - 0:30

That's right! You just needed to follow that pull. Maybe you've done this before or perhaps it's just instinct but you know very well what to do. If you follow that pull you will get out of this place and back to your own world. Just follow it like a yellow brick road to salvation from this eternal hell! Go! Go! Down that path lies a ruined, empty temple in which you may begin life anew again!

    You can't.

See, there's just one teeny little problem which obstructs you from freeing yourself. You may be able to start feeling many, many things in the place again but you can't actually move in this place. Now that would be just rainbows and sunshine if you were being yanked along this little place by whatever pulls you back to life.

The catch, you find as you regain the last of your sense-that of Spatial Awareness, is that you're not going up towards the light.

    You're falling.

You're falling far, far away from salvation to a place from which you can never return-

    BOUNDARY

    Chapter 1

Eyes. In the sky above lie trillions of eyes that dotted the endless void that surely existed outside of this simple planet he was on. Haru had awoken not a minute ago and already he had done a total of zero productive things today- he was too busy staring at these eyes. Jeez, did he ram into Titanius too hard..? Resisting the sudden urge to cough as the memory of the impact with the mound of flesh and sight grabbed a hold of him, he thinks about the situation he's in. What happened?

Well it was fairly obvious, wasn't it? He was dead. There was no idle noises of the game that infrequently sounded off in his ear (by now he surely would have seen some kind of notification) and there was no sort of warning signs on his display. That could actually be easily explained by the warning he was given by Bradwynne (If I died to Titanius, I lost my UI, right?). However, he couldn't exactly hand-waive the fact that he wasn't breathing.

"Where am I, even..?" Is this what the afterlife was like? Why does he have to spend the rest of his existence here? Many, many questions raced through Haru's mind and all of them were similar in that they were rendered temporarily useless once he realized an important fact. He was freaking out about where he had to spend his afterlife without even taking a good look around at it. So the question was... Where was he? For the first time in his stay in this place he takes his eyes off the sky and found that he was in a

    Fiery Hellscape
    Power Plant
    Blizzard
    Dark Cave
    Graveyard

-a roaring blizzard. Furious winds whipped once kind snowflakes into vicious daggers that flew by his form at dizzying speeds. He couldn't even try and keep up with the motion of the storm... it was practically as if he were in the middle of a great washing machine full of snowballs.
"-Ack! W-what the hell?!" Haru bolts up on his feet at speeds that could do America's finest soldiers proud. Why the hell did he not even notice how cold it was?! Did he have a death-wish or something? Already the chill of this winter pushed into him as a swarm of needles into cloth. No matter how hard he shivered it would not be driven away.

The blizzard raged around him, uncaring to his situation. The wind blew snow around him in curtains, and beyond them lie darkness as far as the eye could see. He'd rather not comment again on the sky, because it was honestly obnoxious to look at. Still, he wasn't alone. Around him stood shining and undiscernable figures of light. He couldn't make out their faces nor general shapes, yet they turned around as he did. They were probably as lost as he was. They were also just standing around, as if waiting for someone to take the first step in any direction.

He hadn't exactly much experience in playing the leading face of a party, but if nobody else was going to move from this spot then he had no business to stay there with them. Unlike these things, he had skin and flesh which would probably freeze to death if he didn't get to some kind of shelter as soon as possible. He made it his number one priority to survive here, because if he really was dead, what would happen if he died again..?
Haru picks a random direction and sticks to it. He won't try and tire himself out by sprinting. It was practically asking the wind to freeze his blood then and there. He needed to go nice and steadily while huddling inwards to himself. He needed to keep going or he would die. Something more than just his own intuition told him that- something far more primal that he couldn't identify. He didn't like it.

    OOC

Welcome to BOUNDARY! This is a fun project I'm working on in which I've decided to invite you on. By no means do any of you actually have to respond- I just thought I'd ask to see if any of you were interested, you know? Anyway, think of this as a fun little writing project that you can do if you're wanting for stuff to do! This setting is (probably) pretty much non-canon in every way. Think of it as a little fever dream in the middle of death.

The people that can join may do so because they died to Titanius, whether to its body or Core. It doesn't matter if they were revived, you're still welcome to hop in! Either way, I'll post what little rules are here below.

-You're in a weird place which shall adapt according to the person viewing it. Every person here will see things differently, and for the most part have unique sights.

-Restating the above, you may describe your surroundings as any location you want. It could be a pitch dark jungle, or deep underground, or the bottom of the sea, as long as there is a way forward.

-You are alone. The other people in this thread appear to be colorful formless shapes that don't really respond very well when you try to interact with them.

-Right now, your UI seems to be missing.

-The place may appear different to everyone, but still has the same general shape and has rules. Keep an eye out in my posts for White text. They represent a question or problem that everyone faces regardless of the form it takes. This is what we all have in common.
This cycle, there is only one instance of this text. Where are you? The landscape can be anywhere you want.

-Haru himself came to an answer to this text, and it was colored the same as his dialogue. This text represents how the white text is interpreted by your character, and is where the place becomes different. Haru interpreted his location as a Blizzard, as he's been seeing a lot of those as of recent in his life.

-One post per character per chapter.

  2. Burn bright. Go down fighting.

Let it be enough. Let this all be enough-

His last thoughts before the darkness encroached bounced around Ash's thoughts. How long had he stood here, staring at the sky above, dotted with countless watching eyes, a mockery of a star-filled sky?

"Is this... what death is like?" It had been his first, in his short time playing this game. Throwing yourself against a world boss at first level may not have been the greatest idea, but... sometimes, you took risks. What was the point of playing if you were going to be safe the whole time...?

If this was death, then somewhere on the other side there would be life, right? The path clearly wasn't going to be in the sky above, unless he was supposed to be able to fly up there.

(He did a little hop, anyway, with the expected result. You never knew.)

Ash ended his fruitless staring contest with the sky, looking down to see...

    city streets
    overgrown ruin
    Desert
    battlefield
    forest

    ...a black desert,
stretching endlessly around him. The sand glittered like bits of mica, shifting with the slightest breath or movement in sparkling swirls. In the distance dark, jagged mountains rose above the horizon like silent sentinels. It was deathly quiet, and his heartbeat rang loud in his ears.

"...huh. This is..." This was... familiar. Where had he seen something like this...? Ash couldn't quite grasp it.

He wasn't alone in the desert - other figures, formless wisps of color and light, vaguely human but only just, stood as well. A crowd, all waiting for something, but... what? Were they other players, or some aspect of this mysterious otherworld? One broke away from the pack, slowly walking forward into the desert.

Maybe it was a trap of some kind. Maybe it wasn't. But it was at a direction to follow, and who knew what would happen if he lingered too long.

    Ash began walking too.
