  1. The threat before them had been whittled down to a small handfull of zombies, but the group as a whole wasn't doing much better aside from actually being alive for at least the immedeat future. She retaliated against her attacker savagely, and sprung backwards away from the fray before the thing could retaliate should it survive her onslaught. She then sprinted toward the shattered crystal to scoop up whatever glittering object had caught her eye without missing a step and tucked it... Where! fuck! She didn't have pockets, nor time to open her pack as she continued sprinting across the room in a wide circle. She settled on stuffing it in the only place she could think where it would be completely obfuscate the things 'line of sight' that was readily available; her cleavage.

She theorized that it was something similar to the magic detector they'd found embedded in the previous statue, though from the way this statue behaved, it quite possibly had some other sort of effect. She would have a look at it later when time permitted. When she'd gotten a safe distance from the fray, she stopped to hastily bandage herself and take stock of the situation.

  5. Aaron cursed as once again, all the healing and energy restoration from his potions were immediately taken away. He looked around even as he heard Jack shouting for everyone to get out of the foggy area. That was smart. He couldn't remember exactly where the foggy area was likely to be, he was too tired for that. But he could follow Jack, who's health was so low Aaron wasn't even sure if he had any.

Aaron forced himself to his feet and booked it toward Jack, swinging his sword at any zombies he encountered along the way, and specifically any that might still be going after the other illumancy user. When they reached the safe zone, Aaron turned to face where the zombies would be coming from. "Jack, you need to heal yourself, and then start focusing on some of the others. I'm almost completely out of energy, so I can't." He raised his shield in a defensive stance. They were almost done. They could survive this.

  9. Nalani didn't even have time to move before she realized the statue was falling, eyes widening as her and Alphabet were both crushed under its weight. She fell to the ground as her body was caught in the rubble, laying there for a couple of moments as she contemplated what to do next. There was enough room for her to sneak out, thanks to her shortness and smaller stature, but part of her wanted to just let herself become more crushed. Terrible idea, yes, and kinda pathetic... But it was so much quieter under the stone, so much more peaceful.

However, as if her body was acting on it's own accord, she army crawled through some gaps in the rubble, emerging out of the piece of stone and coughing away from the dust from her lungs. Immediately she looked around for Alphabet, spotting her friend looking worried but safe as safe could be, "Don't worry, Alphabet. I'm good~" she said with a weak smile, turning her attention towards the others. Her eyes landed on Jack, being chased by zombies, with as little as 2% hp left. Her worry spiked as he seemed too busy dealing with Merkaba to care, and she quickly checked her health and energy to see what she could do.

Reaching quickly into her bag and throwing back a health potion, she pushed herself to her knees, casting as spell carefully and directing it at the three zombies Terry wasn't attacking. Emerging from her wand came three magic bolts of energy, albiet not too powerful but should be enough to do enough damage to either stun, kill, or turn the zombies attention away from the man and the strange dark witch. As soon as she did so, though, she slipped back to the ground, finding herself growing more and more exhausted the farther this raid went on. The thoughts kept tossing and turning, but even those she was used to be now, Oh, when will this end?...

Having fully recharged her energy a while ago from tapping into the dark energy that laid at the base of the statue, Lucia found herself empowered, perhaps overly so. There was a sense of dark power that she could feel radiating from her core to the tips of her fingers. As soon as she finished casting the acid sphere, it pressed forward, completely disintegrated the skeletal enemy in front of her into nothing but white mist.

Alphabet’s loyal dog was quick to answer her command, charging directly at Jack to protect him. It sank its teeth into one of the zombies, but was quickly brushed off by the groaning undead. However, being the good doggy that he was, he tried again and again, leaping at the zombie until he managed to latch onto its neck and wrestle it onto the ground. With its throat torn and its head severed, the undead was simply dead.

The skeleton and the zombie that was next to Terry, however, immediately leaped at him and completely overwhelmed him. Nobody was able to see what exactly happened, but there was a loud crunch, followed by the body of a heavy pup hitting the floor. His health bar was empty... he died to protect the priest, as his beloved owner had tasked him to. At least his effort was not in vain, for he kept the two zombies occupied, giving Jack the time to retreat out of the range of the black smokes.

If anything, Dempsey had speed and agility to weave in and out of battle. Getting up from where she was, she quickly threw punches at the zombie that assaulted Amalia earlier with her holy fist, disintegrating a part of its body… This gave Amalia a chance to run to the corner without being struck by the undead that was right next to her. When Dempsey flitted away and ran to where the shiny item dropped, diving for it as though she was a loot-obsessed fiend, a familiar panel popped up within all of their field of vision, alerting the group of a new loot that has become available to be rolled for.

Aaron did what he can to regroup with the priest, running as though he was mad and swinging his sword wildly, eventually hitting a rotting zombie on the way. Thankfully, his strike managed to cut it down. Most of the undead that remained had suffered a lot of damage from Ornson’s retalitation buff as well as Vinka’s attack, making them rather easy target for the group to vanquish.

Nalani’s attack was plain, but effective. With pinpoint accuracy, she managed to pierce one of the zombies with her magical bolt, dropping it to the floor over Terry’s motionless body. The herd of zombie was thinning, there were only 2 left.

While Jack worked hard to pull Merkaba to safety, the zombie that sat mounted on her kept on digging into her incapacitated body. Had it not been for Ornson who quickly came running to her aid and thrusting his walking stick through the creature’s head, she would have been a goner. “Oh thank Qora I made it in time, I’m sorry I’m late,” Ornson said, his face full of scratched and one of his arms seemingly broken beyond compare. He had been keeping another zombie busy before he rushed to Merkaba’s aid.

Although the only zombie that remained groaned as it limped toward them, its body slowly deteriorated to where it could no longer walk. Falling into the ground as though it had lost its purpose, the zombie writhed for a while before the evil red glow in its eye socket dissipated. There was no black smoke that came from the statue either… it seemed to have completely stopped the moment the black crystal shattered into pieces.

The group could only count on their blessing that many of the crossfire and retaliation damage the horde of undead had taken over time had worn them down enough for an easier finish. By the time their crisis was resolved, the sandstorm seemed to have grinded to a complete halt outside. They could no longer hear the furious wind even if they strained their ears.

However, before everything was over, the area where Vinka fell and the statue had fallen down on top of started to produce a massive crack. The crack eventually collapsed onto itself to form a massive gape that gave the party a good glimpse of the area below. It seemed they were on the top floor of a three stories building… From what they could see, the floor below was some kind of Romanesque bathhouse filled with sparkling cyan-colored water. A glance of the pool with investigation mode will say it is a rejuvenation spring. At the head of the pool, there was a statue in the tradition of the last two. This time, you could read "Apollo" carved onto the base of the statue.

Ornson wasted no time in scoping out the area with Jinn’s Eye. He said "Hmm... I could only see a cyan-colored light, which is the water inside the pool. The statue doesn't seem to have any magical signature on its own. What should we do? It could heal our injuries, I believe..."

  14. Amalia sighed in relief, tossing a thumbs up to Dempsey when she realized how close she had been to dying if not for the feline fighter's intervention. “Thanks, I'll uh... pay you back later, that stand we met before, my treat if you're okay with it.” she said awkwardly, wanting to show her gratitude for the cat woman's assistance.

The musician gasped, staggering back at the sight of the statue creating a crack that caused the structural integrity to falter and lead to part of the floor giving way and revealing the lower floors. She spied the water at the bottom suspiciously, squinting, before tapping her temple to view the entire thing in investigation mode. Golden eyes scanned the pool of water and a helpful identifier told her what it was.

“Looks like a healing pool... I guess I should go first. We're all on our last legs and as much as I hate to admit it, I am the most expendable in the group.” she told the team, accessing the party inventory for the rope and securing it whatever proved sturdy after some testing and tugging before coiling that around herself too. She slowly lowered herself down, trying to see if there could be anything that could be used as a foothold on the way down.

When she landed on the wet pool, the water sloshed about. It felt nice and cool between her toes and felt refreshing. “Water seems fine and I don't see any traps so far... though there might be zombies coming...” she echoed. “I'll help anyone that wants to go down, but take it slow, I can't catch you if you fall.”

OOC: Using rope to get down to the healing pool.

  15. Alpha stared. As the room dissolved into chaos, she did nothing but look. She watched as Terry followed her commands, protecting Jack from the zombie onslaught. She observed as he tried his hardest, ripping out a throat, before falling; limp and dead. She viewed the scene with sinking horror and attempted to grasp for words yet it all slipped away in her dry throat. "Terry?" she questioned, voice cracking. Why did she tell the pup to defend Jack? Why didn't she just let the pup stay by her side? Her knees gave out and she was on the ground, tears prickling on the corners of her eyes. She didn't notice as zombies fell and she idly noticed a familiar interface popping up, prompting her to roll a die. She gritted her teeth and pressed a button, any button, so it could get out of her way. She shakily stood up, walking slowly to Terry before collapsing, once again, at the pup's side, clutching his fur like a lifeline.

"It's okay, Terry. We're gonna get you fixed. It's okay," she chanted weakly, the mantra keeping her on the brink of grief and sorrow. And then she heard words as clear as day and she snapped out of her moment of denial and mourning. "Healing...?" she looked at Ornson with widened eyes before quickly snapping her attention back to Terry. Without another word, she began to drag the dingo, paw first, to the hole in the ground. She dragged and dragged before, panting heavily, she had reached their location. She moved languidly, almost as if it were all a dream, and took a rope from her pack before tying it around Terry's body. And, with that, she tried to gently lower the dog down the waters. "It's okay, boy," she said, more for reassuring herself than anyone else. "You'll be fine after this. You'll be fine. Everything's going to be fine. Don't worry. It's okay. Everything's okay. When you wake up, everything'll be alright. Okay, Terry?"

When she had finally lowered Terry into the pool of water, she tied the rope next to Amalia's own before gliding down the string, landing into the oasis of blue. She gripped Terry as if he were a lifeline. "Please come back?"

OOC: Uses rope; goes with Terry's corpse into the pool.

  16. That mother fucking cat. Despite the hell that was currently going on, Jack roared with laughter upon seeing the raid notification appear. It had indicated that it was time to roll for loot! Not one to object (considering very well that they all could realistically die at any moment), he’d quickly mash the button while carrying about his own business and watching the carnage to unfold. Much to his delight however, the carnage had gone the opposite direction.

With the raid members quickly assaulting what few undead remained, he’d let out a sigh of relief as one enemy blips on the map quickly disappeared one after the next. A look of confusion appeared however upon seeing that one of their own had vanished from the radar as well. With a bit of alarm, the man quickly skimmed the raid interface, only to scowl slightly upon noticing the Alphabet’s secondary health bar had swiftly drained to empty, indicating that her companion had fallen. “Well shit…” His mind briefly flickered back to a moment prior where Nalani had explained to the man that at lower levels of beast taming, creatures weren’t revivable. Hopefully she was mistaken… and if not? It’d look like there would need to be some damage control after.

The man didn’t have much time to worry however as an undead continued to cling onto Merkaba. His concern was quickly washed away however as their druid companion quickly came to the rescue. Letting out a sigh of relief, Jack would thank the old man appreciatively while wiping the sweat off his own brow. With the combat having now subsided, he’d look down curiously at the water while following suit. Descending down the already provided rope, he’d shimmy down the entire length until his feet safely touched ground. There wasn’t any point in taking unnecessary risks given the status of his health bar… Taking fall damage right now seemed incredibly unwise.

Only after inspecting the water would the man move to strip in order to dive in. He’d pause midway while lifting his shirt however. Was such an action even necessary considering it was a game? He’d shrug while continuing to undress anyway. It would suck for his gear to actually get wet. Perhaps it would plague him with a dampened condition, hindering his movements. Or even worse? He’d get a cold that would devolve into some sadistic form of hypothermia. The man wouldn’t put it past the game developers.

OOC: Jack descends and enters the pool.

  17. .... Elziabeth was annoyed. Oh yes very, very annoyed. Her other body may have been less effective than she had thought originally. She would have to do something about this sooner rather than later. It was likely more the faults of idiots around her rather than her own of course. Even a genius would have trouble if they had nothing but monkeys for help. She was no god after all, although her dark gods allowing this much mistreatment of their most devoted follower was not pleasing. Twas the way of dark she supposed. The weak are stepped upon, perhaps she underestimated things here just a little. Only a little.

Her head felt like it was going through one of her migraines from a multi night project at the lab... it was hellish and not in a good way. Shaking her head. Merkaba would rise off of the ground and once again lean on her scythe for support. Her body looked like a zombie itself or some other horror. The scars and blood on top of her ripped dress. It actually was not that bad of a look. She did prefer more elegant of a appearance though. She was not sure how but the fools seemed to survive on their own, not by much though from the look of it. This was a disaster in her opinion. She did not even come away with the blasted soul of the hemeonacer! Victory means nothing if it is done so poorly. It was a embarrisment and would not be something she would allow to happen again.

She saw the group huddling like a bunch of geese in the pond that had now become what looked like plain water. The witch rested next to it but had no interest in joining the wretches. She would never bath with them ever! Merkaba was not even sure if it was safe. If they all melted into goop it would be a great joy actually. She then saw the idiot child with her dog. It was dead. Merkaba could not help but comment...

"You see child? What did I say about your inability to treat things seriously? It will cost you like it did your mutt."

The witch dipped her just left hand in the water and test to she if it caused any harm... see really did need healing....

(OOC: Tested the water and continued being a bitch.)

  18. Lucia didn't bother with the others when she saw the zombies beginning to crumble. Her attention instead went down to the thing calling out to her again. It had lent her power in her time of crisis, a vague bitterness flowed through her heart, who among those around her didn't have a chance to help her? They all did if they'd chosen to, except Merkaba they all had a chance to save her, but in the end the only thing coming to her aid was the dark thing stashed away in the statue's base. The realization brought a numbing pain to her chest, was she really so useless and easy to abandon? That bitterness welled up inside of her, practically overflowing as she lowered herself to the statue's base to begin searching.

If others wouldn't support her, she'd have to resolve herself to become stronger 'better'. To find some way to make people support her, to get more help from these powers that keep trying to reach out for her. If the players wouldn't be a shoulder for her to lean on, then she would lean on the game's divinities! Trying to search for a secret compartment, rubbing her hands along the statue's base, if she didn't find some kind of button, lever or other kind of contraption though she'd grow frustrated quickly. If there was no secret opening, she'd try to smash the base with a blast of blunt magic, gathering up energy to try and splinter the base so she could sift through it to find what was concealed deeper within. Though she didn't care about the roll for the item, in her haste she would simply roll as if it were an after thought. What she wanted now wasn't that trinket, but whatever it was that offered her her second chance at life in this raid.

If she could scoop the source up and reach the healing pool in time to recover, she would gladly, but if not, she would absolutely prioritize retrieving that object over healing herself. Listening to Ornsen and the others approaching the pool, Lucia only cracked a brief grin as she focused on her work to retrieve what was reaching out to her as she spoke. "Who knows, maybe the trigger to activate the statue is healing, the healing pool could be a trap to take the plague and injuries from your body to use them as power for the statue." She tried to tease a little.

  19. After realizing that she'd stalled for time long enough to accomplish her original, humble goal of staying alive long enough to bandage and drink her last healing potion, she surveyed the battle and realized that things had actually gone well for once. An exultant cry from her was was stifled though; the party was in pretty bad shape and it looked as if Alphabet's dog Terry had died. To say that alphabet was not taking this turn of events well was an understatement. she dismissively tapped at the loot roll button, only vaguely reading the item in questions tool tip.

She chose instead to wordlessly follow Jack after a quick glance to Lucia, whom was carefully investigating the remains of the statue for something. She dismissed the odd behavior off hand, and deiced then to keep an eye on her just in case. Maybe there was something worth investigating, but her priority was reaching the pool which promised respite and recovery. With restored health, she could be of actual use to the group again. She tentatively scanned the surroundings with detection view first, however. She had grown paranoid of something seemingly too good to be true in this place. Seeing nothing that posed an immediate threat, she turned to the fountain. She wasn't sure whether she should drink the stuff, or if they were all supposed to bathe in it. After having gone as many days without a bath as she had, she welcomed the chance to clean herself up a bit.

She settled on a little of column A, and a little of column B. She stooped and drank a few handfuls of the water, then collected a pair of empty water skins from her bag and filled them with spring water.
((I'm assuming we're not in combat and can do a little more each turn. if we're still "in combat, end my post here))
After carefully refastening them to the exterior of her pack, she walked a good distance away from the party and began to disrobe to her undergarments. After taking a moment to carefully shake as much of the sand from her equipment and armor as she could, she stepped into into the bathing pool.

The water was cold, but still refreshing. It was no substitute for the luxurious heated bathhouses of Stokbon, but she wasn't about to complain. She washed herself as quickly as she could, then simply soaked in the pool, refusing to engage the others or make eye contact until she'd had some quiet time.

((I rolled a 3 for the loot drop in discord. >.>))

  20. Finally, it was over for now. As the last couple zombies crumbled, Nalani let out a sigh of relief, letting her body relax on the ground for a moment before jumping up and away as it crumbled under neath her. Thankfully she hadn't gotten caught up in the fall. She peered into the hole below to spot what seemed to be a pool, and as she listened to the words of Ornson, she turned her gaze towards the others with a relieved expression. However, as soon as she spotted Terry's dead corpse, her face fell.

It took all the strength in her to ignore the fact that Jack was literally stripping and focus on her crestfallen friend, who dragged her pup towards the pool. She followed behind her, sliding down and setting a hand on Alphabet's shoulder. She didn't know if the pool would heal him, but... It was time to do some damage control, "Alphabet... Sometimes you have to let people go-" Unfortunately, her voice was cut off by Merkaba, and immediately the Felis's pink eyes narrowed at her, a rage building up in her chest.

She wasn't one to get angry. Nor was she one to dislike people. But the more this bitch talked, the more irritated Nalani grew, "Ex-fucking-cuse me," she growled quietly, standing up straight beside Alphabet, not moving her hand from her shoulder, "That was inappropriate and uncalled for. Last thing I checked, you were unconscious for majority of that fight and we all had to come to your rescue. You have no right to speak, even if what you were saying had any truth to it," she said evenly, not stumbling once as the words ran out of her mouth, "So, if I were you, I'd shut the hell up before one of us bitch slaps that last few hp out of you."

And with that, she turned her attention back towards Alphabet, expression going soft again as she took a couple deep breaths to calm herself down, managing a weak smile at her little friend, "Let's see what the fountain can do." If it even does anything.

  21. Aaron frowned. When the notification for the loot drop appeared, he hit the button, but didn't care if he got it or not. While a thing to help him hunt down and destroy the undead would be nice, his mood was too somber. On the one hand, he was glad the fight was over, on the other hand... Terry. He approached Alphabet slowly and placed a hand on the girl's shoulder. He didn't say anything. Words... words had a place. This wasn't one of them. That is, until Merkaba spoke. Luckily, Nalani came to Alphabet's defense as well. "Show some respect," Aaron said gently to Merkaba. "That can't be too hard for that cold heart of yous, can it?"

He helped Alphabet get Terry to the pool. He was hestitant about entering the pool himself, but he watched literally everyone else do it. If it was a trap, it would wipe the entire party... he sighed heavily. He wouldn't be able to do anything on his own, so at this point, he would take the risk it was a trap and join them. He couldn't take his eyes off of Alphabet and Terry. The poor dog.... it was named after a childhood pet of his own that died. Did Aaron curse it, by having it named after a dead dog? He shook his head, and prayed, begged anything that might be listening to give the dog back to the girl.

    Unfound Power

As the group reluctantly entered the pool of water or simply testing it out, its rejuvenating effect could be felt immediately when the water washed away the pain their bodies were enduring, steadily filling up the missing portion of their health. The bath house was rather large, though it has not been able to stand the test of time, the floor and painting on the wall has mostly been destroyed, there were many exhibits in the other side of the room. There used to be a wall that separated the bath house from the other showcases on the same floor. Regardless, it was far too dark to make out any particular detail, most of what the party can see came from the blue glow in the pool.

Despite Alphabet’s best and tireless effort to resuscitate the unresponsive carmine, his body did not stir, even as the healing water assailed his sullen lungs, nothing worked. All that was left for her to do was to mourn for her friend and carry their heavy memories with her out of this place in one piece.

Those who had a sip of the water suddenly find themselves refreshed, finding their formerly weary body filled with a burst of energy. Despite the steady recovery in health and energy, the party could use a long awaited meal right about now, to remind them of their human needs even when they have pushed their mental state past the limit.

After Ornson had disrobed and bathed in the water as well as having a bit of food to settle his stomach, he waded his way over to Amalia and asked her in a side conversation. “Are you okay? I saw that scythe cutting right through you. I thought for sure you were going to get divided into two, it’s a miracle that you’re standing here right now, intact. What kind of magic in that? Such resilient skin, I am genuinely curious,” he said, touching her side as if he was inspecting its magical property.

Meanwhile Lucia was struggling to unearth the power hidden beneath the statue’s base. When she managed to smash the base open with a blunt spell, the powerful item revealed itself to her. However, the item was surrounded by powerful magic beyond anything she could imagine. It seemed the book known as the Necronomicon by name was sitting in a pool of the black liquid that invaded her earlier. As she approached the item, warning signs flashed on her screen, alerting her of magic that was beyond her comprehension. Anyone who was within the vicinity could feel cold dread creeping up their spine as the book lashed its power at Lucia.

  23. Lucia saw the book, the stewing black liquid, there were a myriad of things that could go wrong here... She understood that well. With a harsh breath though she resolved herself to try, worried that she would involve the others she tried to be hasty hoping that she could find a way to retrieve it without harming anyone else. "You've helped me once-- Perhaps it was because you wish to make use of me... But I don't mind. You have offered me help where there was none, gave me a chance when there weren't options left. I have faith in Synra--" She started as she reached down for the book, there was no way she could understand the magic contained with in, she had a foundation in Malefimancy that at least helped her discern the book's nature as something dark and powerful.

She hoped that foundation would be enough to build upon as she tried to grasp the book and retrieve it from the dark liquid. She tried bringing the book towards her chest, she'd try to clutch it close to her body, unwilling to let it go even in death as she continued. "--If you want something in exchange, I'm prepared, I'm resolved. Come..." She spoke firmly, as the power of the book reached out for her, she'd try feeding it her energy, Mana, whatever one might call it; the power in her body that allowed her to cast her dark magics, she would begin trying to offer it to the book. She reasoned that it might have some effect, after draining the pool of black liquid she'd grown more powerful, the liquid clearly had some kind of energy in it that was compatible with her. If that was the case, this book was in that water because it was the source or because it needed that energy to function. Regardless of the answer, she felt that she had to offer something to this book's pages.

"If nothing else, just please don't leave me alone... Don't abandon me." She murmured tightly gritting her teeth trying to earn the trust of an inanimate object as she fed mana and energy into it. She wasn't sure if it was sentient, if it would even want her pathetic power that couldn't compare to the pool or it's own, but she was ready to offer it, even her life if it wanted. As long as she had it's support.
