Kyupin's question earned a small giggle as the girl was carefully sifting through a child's toy chest. "Yep! Offline, I'm a nursing school student. I go to school in Massachusetts. Well, I live here too..." Her words were kind of haphazard, and she was laughing harder as she spoke. "I wonder if you'd know from my accent? Some people say it's obvious, others don't." The curiosity was clear, even as she cleared her throat from some dust. The search was unusually difficult for a stuffed toy. Why couldn't it appear for them quickly? "I have a baby brother...So I feel like helping this kid is important since she reminds me of him." Then, she noted to herself how the girl had called her 'amazing'. For wanting to be a nurse? Sure, Solaria thought nurses were amazing- but she had some bias in that department. "I'm not sure becoming a nurse is as amazing as it sounds. But...It's been my dream since I was little. I want to help lots of people in the future. What about you, Kyu?"
She perked up at the mention of the state she lived in. "Really? I'm a Boston girl!" she chirped, rearranging the chest after going through the entirety of its contents. Nothing. "I'm not that good with accents," she admitted sheepishly at Solaria's question. Was it that easy to tell? She wondered what she sounded like. Kyupin hummed in acknowledgment. She was the little sister in her family, but she could understand the want to help people in game because of the way they reminded her of reality. She giggled, ready to interrupt @Solaria again to insist on how awesome it was that the girl was in training to be a nurse... but then Solaria asked her. "My dream?" she echoed back, any growing joy instantly squashed. "For the future..." She swallowed thickly. How pathetic would it sound if she said she had no idea anymore? That she'd lost that hopeful thinking when they took her legs? That all she could see in her future was a life of burdening everybody around her, being a waste of space and resources and... The small Felis took a shuddering breath, trying to push away all the negative thoughts bouncing around in her head. She busied her hands with sorting through more furniture and chests, trying to distract herself. Luckily for her, she spotted what looked like a torn ear and a ripped seam, stuffing trying to escape. "Is this it?" she called over her shoulder, already pushing things aside to reach the stuffed animal. She hoped Solaria would be kind enough to ignore the way her voice wavered or the way her hands trembled just the slightest.
While she was a bit slow and rarely tried hard to think, Solaria wasn't so dense as to not see the way the girl's words grew more hesitant as she was asked about her dreams. Plenty of reasons went through the Yladian's head as to why this might be- from cancer to simply the common 'not actually knowing yet'. Still, it was probably best not to pry. So at least for now, she'd drop the subject. When the stuffed toy was found, tattered to the bone, Solaria was quick to hug Kyupin tightly. "You found it! It may not be in the best shape, but even like this, I'm sure that little girl will be thrilled, don't you?" Her words were said with a sincere smile, lips twisted upward as she teared slightly, relief settling in. "Seeing a child's smile is truly magic, I think. When my baby brother smiles, it's like anything that was wrong melts away! This will help her whole family, I bet too that way!"
She squeaked as she was drawn into a tight hug. Once again, Solaria's stubborn cheer was infectious, bringing a small smile to her face. "You're a good person," she repeated, taking a good long look at the other. Maybe her brother felt the way the elf felt about their brother. Or maybe he hated her, resented her for how much of a burden she was. Kyupin fiddled with the toy in her hands, careful not to pick too aggressively at the tattered seams. Perhaps there was a seamstress in town that could help them repair it? "We shouldn't keep her waiting," she said, stroking one of the dangling bunny ears. "She must miss her friend a whole lot." Kyupin imagined it would be like being separated from her dearest Vulcan, without a clue to where he was. She'd be frightened. The walls no longer rattled. Kyupin edged towards the door, pulling it open just enough to peek through the crack to the outside. No spores whirling around. The storm had ended. Holding the bunny in one hand and reaching out to @Solaria with the other, she nudged the door open the rest of the way. "Shall we get going?" Before the storm comes again... Where were they headed? Stokbon? It would be a long trip. (( ooc: do you want to end in your next post or should i? you could write about reuniting the kid with her bunny as well! ))
Being called nice made Solaria laugh. She wasn't really anything special, was she? "I dunno, I think I'm pretty normal." Anyone who knew her would deny it, but she still believed it. "But talking about nice, doesn't that fit you too, Kyu?" She let go fairly easily, despite her love to cling onto the cute and kind. Petting her new friend on the head, she couldn't help feeling a sense of ease. Why was it fun to pet those of the felis race? Was it because they were catlike and cute? It was soothing, and probably really weird of her to find it that way. As they walked in the right direction, Solaria couldn't help talking a bit about her family. "You remind me of my brother somehow, Kyupin. You're energetic, sweet and you work hard for others. The boy's only five and he's already a worry-wart for his big sis. I think he blames himself for a lot of things he shouldn't, so I hope you don't do that too. Remember to rely on others, kay? Just like I"m learning to." She skipped ahead a bit, a broad smile on her face. She was strangely quiet for most of the remainder of the trip, enjoying the smile of the young girl they'd found the doll for, and waved when she went home with her folks. Eventually, it was just her and @Kyupin Felnya once more, leaving Solaria to hug her again with a grin. "I think I'll call my brother now that we're done with this, but make sure you let me play with you again sometime, okay Kyu? And if you're ever in Massachusetts, let me know. I'll come play with you wherever you are when I'm out of class. I think we'll get along just fine no matter where we are...And I bet you'll be just as nice to hug there too!" With a giggle, she pet the girl's head again. "I'm a student still, but I'm going to become a good nurse, so I can see lots more smiles. Even if it's just me being selfish, I hope you'll keep on smiling a whole lot, too!" ((Choose based on this reaction? xD))
With the warmth of doing a good deed and seeing that beaming child's face still in her system, Kyupin almost forgot why she'd been out there in the first place. As the duo parted ways, Kyupin mused over what had happened. What her resolve finally meant to her. What her strength would be. She would grieve for the good that had been lost to evil. She would find a way to make things right - make the world a better place so that innocents would not be hurt again. No matter how big her fears, Kyupin would no longer let herself cower. No longer hesitate to do what was right. The greater good. Because that's what she was doing: fighting for a greater good. Right...? [ FIN ]
