It’s been awhile since Dieter has put on a badge. His daily routine involves waking up and logging into Terrasphere then occasionally logging out for a meal, toilet break, otherwise he remained logged in the entire time. On good days, he would clean his gun and head to the practice range to keep his eyes sharp and his finger steady. On even better days, he would find himself exercising. Though, the disconnection between his physical and in-game body was so large that he’s always struggled to essentially live a double-life, one where he was a King of a nation, and the other, where he’s an armed public servant.
Regardless of whether or not he was in or out of the game, he seemed to appear on many hit list; the only difference was that in real life, he doesn’t respawn after dying.
Dieter sat alone in a car with a pristine interior, a sign that he clearly did not own it. The detective was waiting for someone, though, he came to the rendezvous too early and ended up having to kill some time before they will show up. So, he did what all cops do, which was to waste his time reading political editorial on his touchpad while he melted into the firm seat, which he had pushed into a reclined position when he arrived. It seemed the American politics was going to hell, though he had to ask himself if he could remember a time when it wasn’t. All public speakers, regardless of orientation were speaking out against DeepDive clinics and the dangerous influence Terrasphere has on the younger generation, especially kids.
“Haa…” he sighed. If only they knew he received a special, undercover mission with an assigned, nameless governmental agent. It seemed the FBI was not happy with all of the scumbag leeches who have started to practically turn people into vegetables so they could just live in the game forever, or at least until they die. So, it was up to him and his partner to shut them down in a very hushed-hushed manner, he was instructed not to be conspicuous considering the fact that the FBI did not want public outrage or having to have a discussion about the free right nonsense.
When the clock hit the appointed time, Dieter reached and pulled the car lock back, allowing his partner to get in if they choose to. While the car was unmarked, the agent should have received a briefing about the undercover assignment at least. “Yo, hot coffee in the compartment in front of you and crispy donuts inside the box next to the shift stick. Fill up and we’ll get going. Unless you want to drive while I eat.”
