The two had made a decision. Roland had refused to run especially with the heavily mentally addled Alphabet mistaking the previously half naked fellow for Narth. Who she obviously had become infatuated with as much as her desire to befriend Vermillion. Now Roland would find himself up against this barely known about threat with barely any assistance.

"You did not run? hehehehehe.... are you so vain in your manly pride that you would die for it? For shame!"

Vermillion looked to Alphabet and smiled eerily as her eyes reflected the red moon.

"Do not worry my eternal friend. I am only removing the filthy one from our house. Your moment of confusion will soon end. Then all will be fun and games. That is what you want more than anything... Everything I give to you will be yours do play with. You are going to be a wonderful treasure! Heheheheh!"

Vermillion lifted off of the ground by a foot as her wings expanded.

"Hmph! If you refuse to play your part for me as well, then I will hasten your already predetermined fate! At least your lifeblood will have found it's purpose... in my cup! Hehehehehe!"

    Posting Rules:
    • Minimum of 100 words and max of 400 words, excluding the OOC stuff.
    • Only one reply from each character per cycle. A cycle ends with a DM post.
    • Follow the DM instruction every cycle.
    • The previous Corruption rules are still in effect.
    • Alphabet cannot attack Vermillion unless she rolls lower than Roland.
    • If Roland falls in battle, the fight is over.

    Modifiers & Actions

Note: All status effects last 3 turns unless otherwise stated.
Damage Reduction: Medium and Heavy Armor only (Fully outfitted Heavy does not suffer to push back).
    • -1 HP for each poor armor piece
    • -2 HP for each blue armor piece
    • -3 HP for each green armor piece
    • -4 HP for each yellow armor piece

    Energy Cost: Subtract 5 EN
Reduction: Subtract 3 EN if you are equipped with a Magical Tool that helps with energy.

Highest mastery gets +5 per mastery tier excluding Beginner; +10 for Expert.
Or if you used Holy Attacks/Spells (must be from a mastery that can access holy based powers, ex: Devotion) gets +10 per tier excluding Beginner; +20 for Expert.
Also a bonus for each weapon tier (dual wield accepted), +1 for gray,+2, blue, +3 for green etc. Example: Dual wield with one gray and one blue = +3.

You may choose ONE action per turn along with moving (unless slowed, in which case you can only move or do a action).

Reckless Attack: (10 EN) You attack with abandon, doing more damage but expose yourself to more danger. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers THEN, add +50. If hit by enemy on next cycle, you will receive 2x damage.

Berserk: Only for characters with Berserk. You must subtract 10 EN when you enter Berserk the first time, on top of the energy cost of your chosen attack. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, then ADD whatever amount your mastery says below certain HP threshold.

Taunt: (cost 10 EN) Attract the attention of the target to prevent it from targeting other zones. Roll d100 and add appropriate modifiers, then divide the result by 2. Chance of success is based on hidden several hidden factors.

Guardian: (cost 20 EN) Requires Heavy Armor and all armor slots filled to use this powerful ability to cut damage next cycle by half for everyone in your zone. You may not roll.

    Support Mastery
If you had Naturamancy, Illumancy, or Muse, you may cast perform one of the following actions instead of rolling to attack on your turn.

Pick one of these actions to do, you can flavor it however you want. Support spells scale off of support mastery.

Single Healing: base 5 + 5 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +10 for Expert and Mastered) = final heal amount.
    • Cost: 2 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: You can heal with any tier below your current level to converse energy.
    • E.g. Adept Heal: 20 HP / costs 10 MP.
    • Note: Tag the person you are healing and write the amount.

Group Healing (max 3 targets): base 5 + 5 per mastery tier (excluding beginner, but +5 for Expert and Mastered) = final heal amount divided by 3 (Round up).
    • Cost: 3 EN per tier (including beginner).
    • Note: You can heal with any tier below your current level to converse energy.
    • E.g. Adept Heal: 20/3 = 7 HP for 3 people / costs 15 MP.
    • Note: Tag the people you are healing and write the amount.
Barrier: (10 ENt) Reduce damage to 1/2 for all allies in the target zone or whole field by 1/4 damage, for the next cycle.

Offense Up: (10 ENt) Buff offense for all allies in the target zone by your support mastery bonus (+5 per mastery tier excluding beginner, +10 for expert) for 3 cycles, or for whole field for 1 cycle.

Speed Up: (10 ENt) Boost speed for all allies in the target zone (allows moving 2 spaces without counting as full action) for 3 cycles. or for whole field for 1 cycle.

Revive: (costs 20 EN) Revive someone and put them at 20 HP and 40 EN, with no Death Affliction. One use per Support per event. No character may be revived twice.

Rest: (No cost) you rest, recovering 15 EN.

Passive Regeneration: (no cost - passive) +0.5 EN for every light armor piece and magical tool per tier (round up). This happens automatically at the end of every action the user does.

    Map
You must keep track of your character's position at all time. The rule is that you can only move 1 space per turn (diagonal counts as 1) unless you are speed buffed.
    • Moving to a new zone does not cause you to lose your action (unless slowed).
    • Roland and Alphabet begin on Zone 6.
    • Melee masteries may only hit adjacent zones (this includes diagonals).

  5. Roland's Fight Theme

When Alpha took his hand, Roland tried to pull her out of the garden's hoping to find his way through the hedge maze. However, it seemed the curse had caused her to go mad, seeking for Narth and Vermilion somewhere within the deadly plants. "We need to go now!" Roland said with a hiss, tugging at her, but she remained fully convinced they were leaving others behind. One irritated groan later, he turned to face the evil creature who continued to mock him with a barrage of insults and threats. He didn't need to use inspection mode to know he was outclassed here, but what other choice did he have? It's not like he could get away dragging a kicking and screaming Alphabet on his shoulder.

The gears in his mind turned as the liquid courage seemingly evaporated from his system. "I could just leave her here..." he thought as he watched her helplessly struggle forward. Something inside of him just wouldn't let him go through with it though and he moved towards Vermilion. Almost resigned to his fate Roland unsheathed his second blade with another flourish, "Just shut up..." he said before nimbly moving forward and sending a barrage of lopsided slashes aimed at the flying villain.

Alpha stared at the vampire with a judging, blank glance. She then turned to Roland who had begun to make his way to whatever twisted abomination Vermilion turned into with his sword slashing at precise strokes. The urge to just lay down and bury her face in the dirt was oddly compelling. "I know that it's kinda my job to be the one that's all weird and random and stuff," she started, her voice strained. A vein popped from her forehead as both frustration and the flower's roots began to dig into her mind. "But I'm pretty sure that this is one psychedelic dream (she learned that particularly sophisticated word from her vocabulary teacher, thank you very much!) or the world is just that much crazier than I gave it credit for."

She sighed and resigned herself to this temporary lapse in sanity. There was something very wrong when Alpha was the voice of reason (or, at least, in her own curse-afflicted mind). "Okay, just hang in there, Rudolf!" she called out as she once again began to call upon her magic to hopefully shield the man from the onslaught. Sometimes she wondered why she even bothered.

@Roland Rutledge - Remember Damage Reduction when attacking (was auto fixed by DM).

Vermillion saw how slowly Alphabet was coming along to her influence. It was this man making it difficult. Her sharp nailed hand raised into the air as vines burst from the ground and brought a long dead corpse along with them. The plant zombie hybrid made no sound. It simply existed to serve Vermillion at this moment. To kill the male swordsman who was defiling her garden.
"ABC.... you still have yet to come around to accepting our eternal friendship. Watch this man's suffering my delightful BFF hehehehe... His blood will sssseal your bond to me!"

She began to speak with a occasional hissing like breath. She flapped her wings once and she glided forward like a red silhouette to the front of Roland and Alphabet.

"Get away from my property! Ssssssickening MALE!"

Her hand swiped towards him, creating a blood red claw mark to tear through with her swipe. It was carefully assured to not hit Alphabet., and focused entirely on Roland.

Roland recoiled in pain as Vermilion's claws raked against his flesh. Her claws easily cut through his armor, only missing his main arteries thanks to Alphabets shield. With a hiss he lowered himself to the floor barley deflecting away the zombie plant monstrosities clumsy attack at him. A quick glance of Vermilion's health bar revealed the grim situation he was in. It had barley moved, and with her attack had even gone back up to practically full. "The hell is this girl..." Roland groaned as he forced himself upright, "I haven't seen anything in the game near her level, she even makes that last sewer dungeon boss look easy..."

With a grit of his teeth, Roland stumbled forward avoiding the variety of vines still flying in his direction. He had to get out of here, but to do so he'd need some sort of an opening. With a surge of skill, he dashed forward again chaining together a small series of slashes aimed at Vermilion. "I have to push through!" He thought hoping the attacks would create a diversion big enough for him to simply slip past the demon woman. Gone were his concerns of Alpha as her mental state began to deteriorate seemingly not even hearing her nonsensical babbling.

Alpha winced as the unnatural creature; forged of light, darkness, and felmancy-afflicted nature magic; burst into the fray, grievously injuring her. She grit her teeth and, after flashing a very derogatory gesture at the plant and corpse hybrid (consisting of carefully positioning her middle finger in its face), unashamedly stomped her foot onto the ground and began casting her spell.

"You better not die, Rudolf!" she demanded before turning over to Vermilion. "You better not die either, Vermy! Or else I'll feed the both of you to the jackalopes!"

And, with a growing irritation, set off to shielding the idiot. "Gah! I just wanna go and eat some potatoes and play ding dong ditch or something!"

@Roland Rutledge - You may not move into a enemy occupied Zone! Attack was still registered however.

Roland rushed right towards Vermillion. Slashing his blades with a increased rate of desperation. The horrible host of the house kept moving at a high speed. Swaying left and right while leaning back some in the air. She made a open mouthed wide grin at Roland. Her fangs glistening in the red moonlight.

"You cannot get passt me you sssmelly testossssterone ssssssack of worthlesssss meat! Hehehehe... you sseem to be bleeding, iss that a offering? How ssssweet!"

Vermillion's eyes flashed red while his attacks kept coming at her. Her hand made the same grasping motion towards herself she used on the other trapped man earlier. Roland's blood was suddenly drawn from his body into her hand, sinking right into her pores.

"Hehehehe, why thank you! Your wassted life force and thisss adorable little 'devil to be' right there... I think Asssstorea hasss given me a fair offering for my tolerance of their exissstence! Hehehehe you have ssssserved your King well now.... get lossssst!"

Her hand shot into the air and red energy formed a massive crimson spear over her head. She twirled her finger around and bent her wrist to point her finger at Roland. The crimson spear spun and then bolted straight for him!

The plant zombie also continued to mindlessly obey it's directive without additional orders. Attacking Roland relentlessly.

Alpha grit her teeth as Roland was practically maimed by the plant creature and Vermy's evil split personality or whatever it was that Alpha's addled brain had concocted. "Kill the freaking plant, Rudolf!" she berated the man, resisting the urge to kick him in the nuts as she, once again, exerted some energy in order to rejuvenate his pitiful life force. "And you!" she pointed to the green-coated skeleton, "Are so dead when I get my hands on you, you buttface! I'll tear you a new one as I buy a can of wurms just so I can watch you suffer! And then I'll put you up for display in Brisshal and put a neat little sign on you for cash and then I'll use all that money to buy candy canes and lollipops so I can eat that sweet nectar of deliciousness while you continue to make me money!" she cried out. A furious indignation filled her as the being made no response. She was nearly on a rampage.

She grabbed Roland (by the chest because, even with her being in a state of ferocious anger, her size stayed diminutive and tiny, spat a glob of green, magic-laced spit on him. "Gah! I swear to Qora or Synra or whatever god up there whose name ends in -ra, I will destroy this planet and take all the chocolate with me! Roland's Losing Battle Theme

In an effort of pure frustration, Roland screamed as he tried to move past the hovering monster unable to break past her incredible defenses. To make matters worse when the creature seemingly sucked the blood directly from his wounds, Roland fell to a knee as the world wobbled around him. Escape clearly wasn't going to be an option for him. With a grunt, he called out, "Alpha.. go! Now I'll-" but the words were cut out of his mouth as large spear rammed into his shoulder, pinning him to the ground as a gush of fresh blood poured through the new wound, leaving Roland in a crimson puddle. There was little he could but ineffectively slash at the plant creature with his uninjured arm as it lunged at him, biting and scratching at his flesh.

He tried to scream, but only a spurt of blood came from his mouth, sending him into a pathetic coughing fit. Alpha made her way to him, her power refilling a portion of his life force, but even he could tell it wasn't going to be enough. Roland dropped his sword pushing her aside and yelling, "GO!" as he prepared for the worst. At part of him knew she wouldn't listen, but there wasn't anything left he could do but die.

    Enter Vermillion: (Bad) Ending

Roland's headless body remained on the garden grounds. The vines from the roses began to grasp at his corpse... Vermillion lowered back to the ground with a single flap of her wings. Using the same hand grasp as before she drained some last bits of blood from the body. Licking her blood spotted fingers, her eyes shifted to Alphabet. The vines dragged the body away into the the brush as Vermillion's wings shrunk down and her height decreased by a around a inch or two again. Her obvious inhuman features remaining but becoming much less harsh. She walked over to her new 'prize'.

"Hmhmhm. ABC, I hope that man did not distress you too much with his stench. It is good if you have not yet begun to smell such filth, but you will. You can stay here now. No need to go anywhere else. Let me show you around a bit more and let you learn what the funnest kinds of games are that we participate in. Perhaps you will become one of my bestest friends. I will introduce you... You have no idea what joys awaits you..."

The Crimson Overlord took the girl's hand and stared into her eyes.

    "BFF? Hmhmhmhm....."
The quest that had begun as a mere diplomacy mission had led to the death of a high ranked member of YULAN and the indoctrination of another. Certainly this was far from over. Alphabet would vanish into the depths of the manor so that the rose can finish it's job of fully corrupting her.

What will the dawn bring? Regardless this was definitely not a good ending....
