Biography
Quentin was born in Manchester, England to a young couple who earned an average income. His early childhood was just like everyone else’s. He played with other children in his neighborhood outside, ran around playing games, went over to other kids’ houses to play video games. But when he turned seven, his father was offered a new position where he could earn a higher income. So the small family moved to London, right after Quentin had started school. He was told that moving once or twice was normal in life and he was excited to be in a new place.
It didn’t take long for him to make new friends in his new home, making new friends through school. His favourite thing to do with them was to play football during playtime. After about a year, Quentin was starting to fit in with his new friends. However, his father was frequently sent away on business trips for weeks at a time, sometimes even a month. Eventually he was to be sent to Miami for a year and his parents wouldn’t tolerate being apart for so long.
Miami was a totally different culture than what Quentin was used to and he was quickly getting tired of having to make new friends, but he was able to impress some of the others while playing football during what they called recess and started playing basketball with the other children. For the next few years as he moved from Miami, to New York, to Paris, to Berlin and to countless other cities, he used the two sports as a way to make friends.
Around the age of fourteen, Quentin also started to play video games. At first it was very casual, but he quickly realized that he really enjoyed playing different games. And that he was good. He played with his friends and after moving to new places was still able to keep in touch with them. After moving around so much and losing so many friends to the passage of time, it was extremely refreshing to be able to talk to the same group of people for more than a year. Eventually, he stopped playing basketball and football became his side hobby. His parents thought gaming was consuming his life, but he saw it as a way to escape the boring reality he lived in.
VR technology helped to make that escape even more realistic. Gaming with VR was a dream come true for Quentin and when he got a private email for an unregulated game, he pounced on the opportunity. His friends were more hesitant than him to join, but he did it anyway. He had moved on from others before and he wasn’t afraid to do it again. Not when they stood between him and the chance of a lifetime.
