Maize Runner
In the spirit of Dark Harvest, a local Naturamancer has set up a corn maze right in one of Pormont's fields, grown from scratch. Unlike other corn mazes, this one contain a creepy, run down castle in the middle of it that provide even more challenges as visitors navigate through its old and creaky corridors and even go into the damp underground as they navigate through the already confusing corn labyrinth. The maze also has bogs and river, truly immersive!
It's a fairly large one too, full of tricky turns and dead ends. While originally intended to be a simple attraction for tourists and families, some people appear to have gotten competitive, and a race has been set up. The goal is simple: get to the center of the maze first, and the prize money is yours.
Maximum of 2 people per party. Reach the DC of 500 in as few posts as possible. At the end of the festival, the pair that took the least number of posts to reach the DC will get a reward of 100g each. Ties will also get the prize.
Before writing the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th navigation post, use the event die (d10) after you roll your navigation roll. Your event roll does not add to your DC. When you are fighting a monster or searching for the lost child, you do not add those rolls to the maze progress. They count toward the number of post needed to complete the maze!
1: Monster A monster (your choice as to what it is) looks to have snuck into the maze. It doesn't seem too dangerous, but it is an annoyance. You'll have to defeat it before you can continue on. The monster has 150 HP. Cost 10 HP and 10 EN every time you post to fight. Use the Fighting Template.
2: Lost Child You run into a group of anxious people going around the maze, calling someone's name. It appears that there is a lost child that got separated from their family. You can choose to help them out or just go.
If you choose to help, roll to reach a DC of 150. If you succeed, the family is so grateful to you that they will give you a reward of 30g each. If you don't want to help, ignore this roll! Use the Searching Template. Cost 10 EN every time you post to search.
When reporting your completion of the maze, link to the post where you meet this DC.
3-4: Lost You are lost. Looking around, you find yourself in an area you've passed through already. Damn, looks like you've accidentally backtracked. Subtract 50 from your exploration progress.
5: Creeper Something creepy is now following you. If your party roll below a natural 30 next cycle, subtract 30 from that roll.
6-7: Shortcut As you were exploring the maze, it looks like you were quick enough to spot a gap between the densely-packed stalks of corn. Making your way through, you think that you're closer to the center of the maze. Add 50 to your exploration progress.
8-10: Nothing happens! Continue as usual.
