  3. It was time for another try, and this time Elysian decided to just go all out. She wanted that gem! Even if she had no idea what it was or what it did. Peeking over her cover she made sure the coast was clear and jumped over the rock. She had to leap over the holes left by the arcane blasts but soon enough she found herself facing another of these strange creatures.

"Hey ugly!" She shouted and the gem hoarder turned on her with shockingly fast speed. She quickly shot a barrage of arrows at it, but again each one bounced off its metal body. "Oh come on!" she growled as it began to give chase. The small cat-girl ducked and rolled as she avoided all the attacks and took cover yet again.

  7. She had stumbled here completely by accident, and when she'd caught sight of the...creatures, or automatons, for lack of a better word, she had almost turned around and backtracked then and there. They were nothing that she had ever seen, let alone fought, before, and they were grotesque and advanced-looking enough to probably pack a punch. Besides, from experience, Amane figured anything that viewed you as insignificant enough not to attack you on sight, well, had a reason for thinking so. She was a support that was here solo, and even though she could fight, her spells were best utilised at a long range, not close enough to the monster that she could spit on it. So leaving would have honestly been the wise decision.

The crystal that the one closest to her picked up though, that was interesting. She'd heard of prism shards, and had tried her hand at obtaining a few once, but these here looked fundamentally different. A new game item? It did stand to reason, seeing as this area was newly discovered. But if so, then this was a chance that she could not in good conscience pass up, without at least giving it a shot. Backing away, Amane ducked behind one of the crystal outcrops that littered the area once she was at the maximum range of her spells. Charging a beam of light in her hands, she hurled it at the creature from the furthest distance possible, hoping that the extra time taken for the machine to make its way here would grant her the additional advantage. The Arcanamancy spell merely splashed off its body, however, and with an enraged screech the creature began bounding towards her, purple magic — and oh god it had ranged attacks too — searing the ground in its wake.

  10. In an attempt to familiarize himself the oddities of this world, Ruh Murad took it upon himself to investigate the wonders of the Crystallized Zalara. This 'cave' of sorts seemed vacant and empty, save for the mechanical whirring that passed overhead every once in a while, barely a shadow being cast by its form. Opulent, beryl pools found themselves gazing upon the natural beauty of the cavern. There had been crystals embedded in the walls and from them permeated soft and glowing lights. Ruh gazed at them, unsure at whether or not they had produced their own light or reflected it from something else.

Overhead he heard an odd noise, a creature coming in close. It dove at him as the cleric seemed to be standing over its preferred digspot. He jumped out of the way, slowly backing up as it clawed hungrily into the ground. It appeared wholly unaware that he had been there in the first place, opting to ignore him. He gulped, knowing better than to encroach on the unknown.

  13. She knew how it sounded, even if it's noises were uncanny. As it approached, Eleanor hit it with the good ol' ring around the rosie technique, quickly maneuvering around the tree to flank the creature from behind. With a hand already prepared, with a charm glowing and ready to strike, Eleanor released the bolt, accompanied by her red talisman.

Not to say she had much of an ego, but she had at least expected her attack to be effective. Though, as the mechanical contraption turned around, it appeared as though her spell had created no real effect. Looking down at her hands, she sighed. What had happened?! A misfire? No. No, she had fired it correctly. Instead, it seemed as though she had struck it upon a large, metal plate, which, in a sense, had deflected her attack... But it left a pretty sweet scorch mark.

"Um. Okay." With an air of panic, she turned and began to run from the floating contraption, as it released an arcane blast that seemed... Not to dissimilar to her own!? These things had arcane power? Where the hell had they come from in the first place?! As the bolt fired out, Eleanor narrowly evaded the attack behind another, crystallized tree. Thank goodness for nature.

  16. Eldhi continued to observe the strange hovering creature. Out of the few bizarre objects she discovered so far in Zalra, this abomination of a prism seemed to be the only one so far to actively work on the gems. It was hard to explain with words, she just felt the mutated trees and animals didn't even realize they had been crystallized. Likely she was wrong, there was so much she still could discover from the land.

    *SCREEEEEEEECH!!*

Her thoughts were violently interrupted as a deafening high-pitched shriek reverberated through the air, thumping against her ear drums. "What in the name of Tyl...?" To her surprise, it came from the creature. What... why? She didn't even do anything to it! Unless it was the type to get offended because someone was staring at it. Alerted and frankly offended by the rude hostile gesture, Eldhi brandished her long sword, the edge emitting a dim golden glow as she steeled herself for battle.

  19. Stelluna stalked the creature, attempting to catch it when it wasn't looking. The crystal forest wasn't a very hospitable place and these things did not look nice at all. She had no idea what they were but they didn't look very friendly. She had seen some weird things throughout her travels but these floating pyramid beasts were up there.

Finally, the creature stopped wandering around and started digging into the ground? Well, a distraction was a distraction. She leapt at it with her spear, hoping to drive it into its skull and end the thing's life. Unfortunately for Stelluna, her aim was off and struck the dirt right next to it. It spun around quickly and let loose a bolt of arcane energy. She barely managed to dodge the blast and readied her spear once more. It never was that easy, wasn't it?

  22. As surreal as that whole moment went, Rig decided to pursue...whatever that was. He had a strong feeling that something important was going on behind that pyramid face. He pulled out his hammer and ran towards the levitating monster. Was it putting the crystals inside of itself? This just kept getting weirder and weirder.

The big machine was floating down again and began to dig furiously at the ground.

    "Hey you giant slag!"
Rig shouted at the monstrosity, "Where I come from if you knock someone down you typically stop and say 'Aw gee mate, I'm awful sorry why don't I help you up to be on your bloomin' way. No need for me to be a drongo about this. I should have been more careful.' Hey! did you hear what I said?! I said..."

And with that the machines head turned sharply sideways with a sharp *tick* noise to stare at Rig with glazed over eyes. The machines hand shot out quicker than an arrow and knocked Rig off his feet again. He just stared up at the empty sky, obviously doesn't take criticism well. Rig thought to himself.

  25. Nope! Wrong way to go! In her haste at fleeing from the odd creature who had taken offense to her presence, Ash seemed to have stumbled into an area that was especially dense with even more of those weird mining things. About three of them turned immediately to face her, but by then she was already backpedaling as hard as she could.

"Sorry! Sorry, sorry-" Yikes, that was another two blasts of energy at the ground, and one over the top of her head. It was close enough that Ash could feel the heat whizz by her scalp. "I'll just... you know, leave you all be- hey!"

Another blast, and instinctively Ash threw out her hand and let loose a protective spell, summoning a half-dome of wood and thorns in front of her. A burning smell filled the air as the energy beam scorched her shield, and Ash took advantage of her momentary cover from the creatures to make a second retreat. This was really not going her way, was it?

  29. Despite her best attempts at dialogue, most of which consisted of incoherent shrieking and sobbing as the disgustingly weird monster chased her through the woods, Temperance was not able to sway its choleric and convince it to leave her be. In fact, it was only when she had run for about two minutes straight that the thing began to slow down, come to a halt, and watch her continue sprinting into the crystallized woods of the lakeside area.

Two minutes of running! That's what it had taken to convince the thing to finally give up, at which point it turned around and immediately flew back in the direction they had started out from, making a B-line for the lake it had been investigating. She had bobbed and weaved with all the precision of a desperate animal trying to lose a predator that rapidly drew in, yet the thing was totally undeterred in finding its way back to where it had begun! She huffed, wandering off and going about her own business as well.

  32. Sylpha always wanted to venture to the Crystallized Zalra. Now that something was drawing several people into going, it was as good a time as any.

Only, she didn't realize what they were hunting until she actually saw it.

Some kind of upside-down pyramid-shaped creatures with arms was going about, digging up gems from the crystalline environment. Sylpha's eyes glowed as two fingers to her temple switched her into Investigation Mode. Since she knew nothing about the creatures to begin with, Sylpha focused her attention towards the spots where they dug.

Unfortunately, with the gems already taken, she didn't get anything either.

Walking around, Sylpha searched for one further away from the others, then threw the longest ranged spell she knew from the furthest the game would let her throw it. A ray of purple energy shot out towards the creature and Sylpha immediately ducked behind a crystal.

Waiting... Waiting... No response. Not a sound.

Peeking out from behind, she found that it had disappeared from it's location. Gathering her courage, she stepped out to look for it.

Nope, it was gone. Figuring her hunting method was safe enough, Sylpha decided she would search around for another lone creature like this and try again.

  35. Venturing Crystallized Zalra was something new for the Felin, especially since this was not planned at all. It was easy to say that the trek was just out of curiosity as a lot of people was frequenting the place lately. Anabelle was unsure of what she would encounter when she stepped in the said zone, but she was praying that this curiosity would not kill the cat.

Going deeper into the eerie crystal forestland, suddenly it could be gleaned on the heterochromatic eyes of the Felin an indescribable fear upon seeing a creature that greeted her. One with a body of an upside-down pyramid, the skull semblance of the head attached to it had cataract-ridden eyes. It hovered around, as if looking for something. Because of the fear that overcame her body, Anabelle was unable to do anything but to stand still until it passed her by.

  38. The creature anticipated her next move and dodged out of the way. It was surprisingly nimble for its blocky appearance. The creature shot another blast of magic her way in retaliation. This forced Stelluna to drop her spear to evade the attack. Once she reclaimed her spear, she decided that it was time for a different strategy. She ran towards the crystal trees, a hail of bolts flying her way. None of them directly struck her but they kicked up a lot of debris and chunks of impromptu shrapnel flew through the air. Stelluna's leather armor stopping the pieces from dealing any lasting damage. When she reached a crystal tree, she pressed against it for more cover. The shots appeared to have stopped coming so she peered around and saw that the creature had gone back to ignoring her, digging once more. Well, third time's the charm right?

  42. Amane barely managed to throw herself to the side in time, the stream of arcane energy flashing right by her, residue energy fizzling on top of her skin like static. That was too close for comfort, she thought, scrambling to her feet as the creature swung around, snapping its claw-like appendages as it got ready to attack once more. Her attacks didn't look like it did much damage against it, perhaps it was immune to Arcanamancy? She'd never heard of any creature in Terra Sphere having such a characteristic before though, save the recent world boss, and there was no way any random mob found in the wild would approach even a quarter of Azog's level. There had to be another reason...a mistake on her part? Or maybe it just outranks me by that much, she reckoned, lips twitching into a wry smile.

Her first priority should be avoiding its attacks though. She took of at a run, trying to keep a distance to the monster, and at the same time making it difficult for it to aim any spells at her. Words fell from her lips as she played tag around the crystal rocks, light blooming under her feet upon the spell's completion. The automaton leaped at her again, but this time, with a boost of speed granted from the buff, Amane gracefully jumped out of the way, landing in a crouch behind it, arcane light of her own already formed between her hands. "Maybe second time's the charm?" she said semi-hopefully, then blanched when the spell only sufficed to throw it back a few feet, before it promptly recovered, now more enraged then ever. "Uh, I guess not then." At least it seemed like she was doing proper damage now. Always a marked improvement, she supposed.

  45. The strange creature of dubious nature kept its soulless mechanical gaze on the white-haired Paladin, yet the latter refused to back down. Eldhi had no inclination to back down even an inch, the righteous might of Tyl would triumph against mere automatons!

As the air grew tenser and heavier around the two, Eldhi knew by instinct that the prismatic abomination would strike in but a moment's notice. "Hmph!!" Reacting just in time as an ominous purple glow shone from the creature's body, Eldhi narrowly avoided a blast of magical energy, quite similar to the work of arcanamancers. An explosion soon struct the crystalline field behind the Paladin. At that moment, Eldhi knew, this silly ugly thing was tougher than it looked.

"...!?" Going on full battle mode, the swordswoman narrowed her eyes, red gaze locked on the creature as she dashed forward, erecting a light barrier in front of her as she closed the distance with the creature then with a loud clang, struck her Illuminated blade against its hard frame.

    Time for battle!

  49. This time? This time that creature was going down, no doubt about it. Gold light streamed from her fingers, pooling into three rings of luminous energy in front of her, each bigger than the last, until the smallest was facing her, and the largest pointed towards the automaton, like a magical facsimile of a telescope. With that in place, Amane chanted a spell — her most convoluted one yet — indigo light once again coalescing in her palms. Unlike the last two times, however, this one sank small in her cupped hands like a star in the night sky: absolutely minuscular, yet containing a concentrated energy that belied its size. A miniature supernova in the making. It was the strongest arcane spell that she could manage at her level, and though it was terribly effective at long range, with her current mastery at the rank that it was she couldn't control it too well. At what was essentially a point blank shot though? She couldn't miss.

The cubic creature charged towards her with a screech, and Amane dug her feet into the ground, bracing herself as she raised her hands to the smallest ring — the eyepiece of the telescope, you could say — felt for the energy of her spell through her gut, and pushed. It launched out like a laser, passing through the amplification spell and growing exponentially in intensity. When it finally shot out, it pierced right through the creature with ease, cutting through its limbs with no mercy. As the light faded, the monster collapsed on the ground in heap of scrap metal, and Amane followed soon after, utterly exhausted. Picking up the iridescent gem that had rolled beside her folded knees, the felis lifted it up to eye level, admiring its shifting colours in the darkness of the forest.
