  1. LFG Type: Social Thread, Character Exploration, Scheming, Test of Wits, Cooperation, Problem Solving, Morality
    Party Size: 3-6 (including me)

My best friend was murdered, and the man who did it is still dangerous and at large. My sources have a solid lead and believe he has gone into hiding in the Hylands. Form a party, find the killer, and avenge my lost brother. When justice is served, you'll have your reward.

Description: United on a quest that promises high pay, a group of PCs enter the Hylands, determined to flush a murderer out of the mountains and deal him justice. Instead of the killer, however, they stumble upon something shocking: a hoard of gold, valuing in the millions. Unfortunately, a game error creates a predicament: the value of the hoard exceeds any one player's inventory, and it cannot be divided between them. For anything to be gained from their discovery, the gold must be removed physically. Will they keep it a secret between themselves? Will they just walk away? Think about how much you could do with that much money in-game, and plans and doubts begin to form even in those with the best intentions...
Notes: I've had this idea for a thread based loosely on The Pardoner's Tale (also similar to A Simple Plan) and would really like to try it with a group of 3-6 people. If enough money was dangled over your head, what would you be capable of? The possibilities of character interactions in this situation are limitless. Good, bad, smart, stupid-- how will avarice change you? What will it drive you to do-- or not do? Work together, so you can all benefit? Or figure out a way to come out on top?

The way this thread plays out is highly dependent on the characters involved. If you choose to involve more players outside the original group after the fact, letting them in on the "secret," the more the merrier!
There is no ultimate goal for the thread except to end in an Ultimate Irony: The treasure is worthless. Perhaps it's outdated currency from the original Terrasphere beta, no longer accepted by merchants. The first attempt to use it converts it to its updated value, no more than the players would have received from completing a starting-level quest. Or perhaps it really is glitched coinage, worthless except for aesthetic value. Regardless of why, the final irony is that the players' efforts have been for nothing, and they now have to live with the consequences.
To Join: Please post in this thread if you're interested! Open to anyone, the more variety the better. I will likely be using @Janet Reilly and will start the thread either next Thursday or when five people have joined, whichever comes first!

  2. "Too many people who can't do a job that they should do themselves. All right I'll chase and curse the killer for you."

...Anyone else who was interested, drop me a line and maybe you can still show up later in the thread (just not part of the original party!)

  9. Janet's milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard.

  11. Thread's up! http://spherical.link/terrarp/threads/avarice.4958/

    A couple notes!
    • We probably don't need to stick to a posting order as this thread goes on-- I imagine once we hit the treasure trove things are going to get pretty chaotic and I think it's probably best if character interaction isn't limited by taking turns just to be polite.
    • There's seven of us-- perfect for the seven sins! Since this thread is based on a morality tale, it'd be fun to choose a sin that most defines your character (pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth.) You don't need to post it anywhere or feel like you have to pick a different one than everyone else, just bear it in mind. When faced with temptation, we fall to our vices!
    • Make up whatever you want with the cloaked figure guy or other complications along the way. The more details, the more we'll have to play with when the shit hits the fan.
