It was the highest compliment anyone had ever paid her before. She blushed and tucked her chin against her chest, feeling the heat in her cheeks, ears, and neck. What did she say to such a high praise? How did she in turn compliment Luna with something as heartfelt? She didn’t know and her inability to offer something similar to the woman was frustrating for the knight. Interacting with someone of the same sex shouldn’t have been so fucking awkward for her.
Instead of giving into her frustration, she let it leak out of her. She didn’t want to dwell and, like Luna had said, she would get better with it all the more she was exposed to it. Still, a smile stretched her cheeks as Luna delivered that feather soft kiss to her hand. A tingling sensation whipped through her, blossoming in her chest and heading south, quickly. It was familiar to the night that she had with Lucia, but less…pronounced. It was small, like a time ember that didn’t know where to go and just banged around inside her too fast for her to really get a bead on it. With Lucia, that ember had been an inferno, all consuming and impossible to ignore.
T-Thank you, Luna, Savannah whispered, still embarrassed by the praise but figuring that she needed to say something. It was rude not to, otherwise. I…I dunno what I’ve done to receive such an esteemed position, but I will do my best not to compromise it.
She was about to say something more, hopefully something a little bit more romantic, but the sound of something cracking and breaking immediately stole her attention. There was silence in the tent, so this breaking noise was amplified ten-fold. Savannah blinked and then frowned, her head turning left and right, looking for the culprit.
What in the world was that? she asked, confusion tainting her tongue. And then, she heard it, a tiny chirp that turned into a long calling trill. She had never heard any animal make that noise before and her wide eyes said that. Oh shit, the eggs!
She had forgotten.
