_____Kaede turned when she heard the familiar voice A gentle smile as she waved her hand to call the spell closer so it took less struggle before reaching to hug @Luna with one arm while the other stayed spinning her fingers to keep the magic moving so it would not go off just yet. A gentle kiss to Luna’s cheek as Kaede pulled away and smiled once again before turning at the sound of fighting. A light sigh escaping her lips before she rushed to the first battle location.

_____The first fight was over before Kaede could arrive, and when they kept moving to find the next threat Kaede could only sigh lightly as her eyes turned black and she began moving to the best spot to strike. The preemptive attack stung recent wounds but only made Kaede that much more annoyed with the target. Her form slowly shifted until she was coated in cosmic magic, her black hole growing rapidly and began pulling wind closer to the center as she charged the attack.

”I… Hate… Spiders… and this place for ruining such a fine woman!!!”

______The black hole growing in size again as the pull started tugging loose objects into it’s mass and Kaede glowed a darker purple. The attack itself was ready, but Kaede was fully intent on making sure it was going to hurt when she let it go, and hopefully the people around Kaede would notice she was planning to deal as much damage as quickly as she could.

There was no question in Janet's mind that this was a (codename) Rated R game. Or "Mature" to use the industry's terminology. It didn't really matter either way, since after a grueling ten days of travel they'd already witnessed horrors unlike anything Janet had ever seen before outside science fiction. Her initial strategy had been to proceed with caution, seated upon her mount throughout the journey until they reached the canyon itself. The small sac'lings had seemed harmless and when the tentacles had reared from the ground like sprouting saplings, Janet had sought cover from the toxic rain they spewed.

Now, finally catching up with @Grand Witch Majolica and the rest of her battalion on foot as they entered the twisted trees, the brunette approached and raised a hand in greeting, lifting the visor on her helm. "Oh thank goodness everyone's all right! Hello, @Rias, it's good to see you again." She'd thought Majolica looked silly when she'd worn the heavy helm before, but upon learning the full magnitude of what dying versus Titanius meant, well... I thought a little extra face protection wouldn't hurt.

At her Witch Commander's call to arms, Janet fell into place with the others, tightening her grip on the stout, club-like branch she dared to call her magic wand. Her heart beat fast in her chest, her mouth dry. Be confident. Before, we were all scattered. We weren't expecting an attack yet. Now they stood fast as a unit, prepared to defend one another against the unknown. Unfortunately, this confidence was short-lived when what Majolica had sensed finally rushed forward, slamming the ground with a wave of force that broke their line and sent them flying.

Janet let out an involuntary shriek at the sight: a woman's torso seeded with staring eyes atop an arachnid's body, horrible and fierce. Her stomach clenched with a pang of nausea as she crawled back to her feet. "Th-that's..." Her eyes widened further as she sensed something, a terrible buildup of power much like what Janet herself had to gather before casting a spell. "Oh no." What was this... this disgusting thing going to do? "She's going to attack again!" she cried and threw out the oversized branch with one hand, pointing it directly at the Spider Queen. Slender berry vines crept slowly up the monster's abdomen, fighting to constrict and disrupt the other bristling needles there.

It was strange. One moment, Alphabet Chocolate was finding cover by Corvella's sturdy form and, in the next, she was enveloped by a tight hug. It was as if she was getting suffocated by a facehugger who grew in size and appendages and, instead of merely hugging people's faces off, it was a humanoid abomination latching onto organic lifeforms. Nevertheless, Alpha leaned into the hug even if she hadn't had a clue as to who had touched her until the familiar voice rang in her ears and she found herself vaguely remembering who this person was.

"Eureka! Hey there Celes!" Alpha blurted out, proud at her amazing deductive capabilities. For a second, it was as if the giant, towering arachnid atrocity that was the conglomeration of her greatest fears and the ugliest parts of her imagination wasn't trying to slaughter them all in retribution. As Celestine detached herself from Alpha like a piece of velcro, she straightened up her rustled clothes and yelled out: "I have no idea what you're talking about!"

The words echoed through the battlefield but, considering that there was much more shouting and chaos going on, Alpha wasn't sure if Celestine had heard her befuddled cry. At the sight of her friend's retreating back, Alpha just shrugged and waved her finger a few times around. There was no way in purgatory that Alpha was going to fight that huge monstrosity (frankly speaking, she would've fought anything but a giant, repulsive, terrifying spider or the rotten undead with miniguns). "I've got your back, bro!" she called out as a bolt of magic, sent from her hand, whizzed by.

Good. Now she had some proxies to fight this battle for her. And that meant that she was safe to lie down and ignore the frightening spider-monster's existence. "Ow, ow, my leg! Oh no! I'm crippled!" she shouted exaggeratedly, eyes glancing to see if anyone was paying attention to her impassioned, frantic words. "Oh woe is me! I am down. . .avenge me, my friends! May the force live on within you guys!"

She closed her eyes and softly laid down on her stomach, splaying her limbs out to feign unconsciousness. Potato and Hector seemed to be minding their own business. Good. Less witnesses.

Cel was rather disappointed at the lack of reaction. She figured if she were a giant, freaky spoder, she'd probably be a little more mad at getting tornado slapped. Maybe she was losing her edge... or it could've had something to do with misplacing her book. That book was nice, and a real shame to have lost.

Sprinkles's magic was super great feeling though. It was kinda like getting injected with the caffeine of a dozen, Double Espressos at once, which Celly figured was roughly the same as a single, Quattuorvigintuple Expresso. Considering the lack of such a drink ever having been concocted by even the most eccentric of baristas, it was a fairly unique experience that one could easily get addicted to if not careful.

"What!?" Cel ran back to check on Sprinkles at an astonishingly quick speed, only to realize almost instantly what she was doing. "Oooohhhh. I am doing an understand. Taste Vengeance!"

Rushing back to face the spoder, Cel quickly unleashed a barrage of tornado slaps. Clearly, if one didn't work: you just had to do it again until it finally did! It always worked that way in the movies anyway, barring plot-relevant failure scenes. Hopefully, this wasn't one of those!

Giving up on the guide that she had open, Yule just began poking buttons at random gradually turning herself into a light blue laser light show on ice. An icicle shot wide grazing the dryder while a cold breeze billowed her long dress causing her to pose like Marilyn Monroe. An ice-field formed beneath one of the spider's many legs distracting it while elsewhere to the left, a snowman sprung out of the ground and promptly exploded. A random snowball even flew through one of @Kaede Hoshi's dimensional portal shenanigans and gently plopped right onto the back of @Quinn's head.

Furrowing her brows, Yule's finger hovered over yet another button but right before she could push it, a hand was gently placed over her wrist.

    "No."

    "...no...?"

    "No."

    "okay."

    "Good."

Leaving her, the adventurer with the curiously shaded over face walked towards the spider with a sigh while brandishing two swords. He was the hero of another story, one very much not like this one...

To say her scouting leading her on would gift the huntress into the embrace of a twisted lake-locked abomination would be far-reaching and nonsensical. And yet. Of the myriad of things she expected, the massive tendril slamming into her from the darkness of the upside-down forest and looping around her torso to haul her away was not one of them. Gwyn dug her heels in and grit her teeth, desperately clawing at the disgusting tentacle as its very touch sickened her. The odd flesh of it not so much. The miasma of ill-intent and the aura of wrong that clung to the creature was what turned her stomach most.

Even the pain of the crushing grip meant little as her vision swam from the vertigo of being snatched away and the foul corruption of it. The tree falling to cut off her expedient and unwilling retreat was a blessing, the tentacle suddenly releasing her as it writhed beneath the weight of the obstacle. It was enough room to free herself and join the others and they quelled the attack and quickly hurried onwards.

She paused it a short look over her shoulder before she caught up with the advancing group. Another forest, another strange building, another great beast. This one was equally as unfamiliar a sight, but this one? This one she knew.

Gwyn had joined the game too late, logging in for the first time not days after the great Bloodied Queen Arachna was felled and Norfova was opened to the masses. She remembered with perfect clarity her first real quest with @Ashiore Evretto to scout out the new land. It felt like a lifetime now, thinking on how much they had all changed. They had been so new. So bright and excited. Something had been lost along the way.

The huntress steadied her breathing as she readied a shot, too preoccupied with the sight of the boss they were to slay again and the past to aim for more than a body shot at one of the gash-like eyes. She barely noticed her fingers letting the arrow sail, eyes focused on the face of the magnificent enemy.

Her boots thudded as her long strides ate up the distance. Though she did not spare a glance down, Magdalyn knew that her tiger, Dawon, was at her side. The beast was quiet and reserved, far more so than her previous mountain tiger companion had been. She was undoubtedly a proud creature. But she was also less skittish than Hobbes had been, and far more reliable in the heat of battle. Even if she had not felt the movement of the tiger loping beside her, Mags would have bet that her friend was accompanying her.

If the creators of the game had been going for shock value, they did a fantastic job. When the spearswoman saw the Bloodied Queen emerge, just at the same moment that Mags burst into the action, she nearly fell over. It was only a quick stutter-step that saved her, righting her before she continued pushing forward. The thing was somehow beautiful in its corruption, and Mags might have actually paused to admire the thing. That was, at least, were it not for those eyes. Something about multiple-eyed had always unnerved her.

"Go get her," Magdalyn encouraged Dawon, but the tiger was already bounding ahead, a full three paces closer to the target. As Mags finally paused to glance around, she found herself in the midst of pure chaos. So many adventurers, all battling at the same time. For the briefest moment, it sent her back to the fight for East Wall, and the companion mission that had taken place before it.

And as if in a dream, a woman with pink hair stepped from the vision. Even despite the madness, the violence, the fear, Mags felt a grin blossom across her face. At least she had yet another friend beside her as they ran into hell.

Moving up beside @Comet , Mags called to her. "Fancy seeing you here."

_____Kaede did not have much time to really care for the stray snowball they flew her way, later she would deal with the person responsible, but the main focus was on her black hole. The once orb no larger than a baseball, now the size of a back tractor tire and taking a fair amount of Kaede’s focus to keep relatively stable. Hands waving closer together as the orb began glowing and the star flew into the center causing Kaede’s form to turn pitch black as she grinned under her cosmic form.

_____The black hole began pulling with much more force, Kaede’s body dragging closer as she tossed the object, rather pushed it towards the monster as it pulled at anything it could. Kaede’s hand rising up slowly as her frame dragged along with the orb, a quick snap of her fingers before the orb stopped pulling in and expelled everything out at the monster. Kaede falling to the ground for a moment before she began to levitate again due to her form, eyes set on the spider target rather than the woman, afterall it was rude to hit a woman less she wanted it.

Aalam looked at that thing the spider queen and then proceeded to pop the on his first flask downed the entire thing the pop the second and downed that. He was going to need a healthy level of buzz to get through this day a tremendous strong level of buzz indeed. So as he waited for that wonderful familiar feeling of alcohol to work its way through his system, he equipped his bow. Well she was big, and she was corrupted by an old god, and if he was right in his thinking, this was that thing the vets told stories about. Grabbing his back up to the backup flask and popping that to down the beautiful mixture of rum and rye ale. Well, there went his final flask the rest of this job was going to be painful, and he would have to find more liquor before the day was done. This was going to be a very long day; lady Gywn was here right? Maybe he would be able to bum some drink off her she did say she would have a bottle for him the next time. However, he would have to get back to that later he needed to cut off the head of the snake from the body, and that meant taking out her legs.

So he aimed of there was going to be a way to bring the thing down it would be with a lot of damage. It was times like his he missed the backup that having soldiers provided or stealth, stealth was excellent. But yea he was going to need a better drink might as well see what the good woman was up to. “Oye Lady @Gwyn ap Herne got a flask on ya? I need a drink.”

“Ayaya…” Hands gripped tight around the long handle of her ultra sword, “This is no good…” Luca watched as the fight against the bloodied queen continued. The goofy and confused grin on her face was enough to give a good grasp of just how hard her mind tried to cope with everything that had happened until then. It had been a few weeks since she started playing the super realistic game, and was glad she could perceive the world through her eyes, but…

This, this right here, was just too much. Have the developers ever thought about adding some options to decrease graphics quality? This was a complete hellcontrast between the newbie zone and this dark, cold and stinky hellhole! But this was fine, yes — she was a warrior now! A proud warrior that wielded a… Unnecessarily large sword that prevented her from doing anything useful until now thanks to the exceedingly hard moveset. Despite that, she decided to step up and work towards healing her wounded pride and be useful for once. She advanced with somewhat slow and crude steps, her armor and weapon slowing down her mobility to laughable levels.

But if anything, the newbie swordswoman was persistent. With proper timing and patience, she finally made her way through the flying projectiles and super moves happening on screen, just like in those MMO raids. Amidst all those effects and powerful attacks, she brandished her huge sword towards one of the spider’s leg — luckily, she hit a weakened joint, her attack landing with a satisfying crack that broke through her hardened skin.

“Aya!” Elated, she let a triumphant shout when her weapon managed to sink in the enemy’s flesh. However… “Eh? Oh go--” Her weapon was stuck. “yaaaaaAAAAA!?” and with a mighty swing of her spider web, the bloodied queen tossed the newbie swordswoman back like a sack of potatoes, all the way back from whence she came. All the effort, her hopes of doing something useful... Crushed.

Maybe she should try learning some magic...

The run back was a long one, he'd admit. Haru hadn't realized exactly how long he'd been scouting but was getting a rather intensive lesson on the subject. It was still perfectly fine though as he had quite a beacon of travel to follow. That was one big spider. Haru will be the first to admit that she was rather intimidating, but he also couldn't help but feel that she made for a rather sad sight. What could she be going through right now? It didn't look like whatever coursed through her body was pleasant.

It made him rather conscious about his own body. Haru wasn't the same man he was at the castle of the Bandit King and the state of everyone made him very aware that he needed to keep himself alive first and foremost. It was time for some patchjobs. As Haru and Headwind sprint to the great boss, his paleness fades and he ceases to clutch at his torso.

Blank was so distracted by summoning her ice wall, she didn't even see the giant spider. With a sudden boom, the witch was sent toppling backwards in a ball of tangled clothing. Trapped by her cape, Blank began to scream and shout as the world suddenly turned black. "Celes! Help! Help! Ngrrr...agaha" A sudden twist had tied the piece of fabric around her throat silencing her cry with a whimper.

Several moments later she managed to calm down long enough to free herself, and jump to her feet with an angry growl. Turning she shot an icy glare towards @Grand Witch Majolica raising her staff as mana began to coalesce around her. "Dissonance?" she asked in an icy tone, "I don't know what your talking about, my only interest is in Chaos Energy..."

With a flick of her wrist, Blank surrounded herself in a large magical circle, "Come forth, hail storm!" As she spoke, the magical circle began to shimmer, as the skies above turned black before letting loose a barrage of dagger sized hail which plummeted to the ground, before plunging into the Blood spikes that now dotted the battle field.

With the spell completed, Blank turned back to Majolica, to say more, but suddenly felt weak. Falling to her knee with a gasp, as she gripped her side. When had she taken all of this damage? "Nggg...." she moaned, as she tried to ignore it, failing to do so in a convincing manner.

Healer was not going to do much straight damage to this giant arachnid, slash octopus, slash twisted fetish monster but she was good at more niche style combat. A bit of a personal challenge since winning this game was not the goal. Sure a big DPS or a Buffmaster could get far but often there would be scenarios where you need that 'little something' that was the best way to look at this build.

Gaming aside. It was time to poke a spider.

    "Yaaaahhhh!"

Rushing the creature and aiming her blade just right. Healer ran past the huge Arachnid and made a leaping slash before landing closer to it's rear. the tip of her blade aimed to strike at what would hopefully the nerve that would finish the canceling of it's attack.

Landing a bit too hard on her feet and losing balance. Healer found herself blushing a little. That battle shout was a bit less intimidating than she'd like but... that happens when you choose to play a girl. Why did he choose that again? It was a bit weird but she shook it off and spun around to be ready for....?

They did it. Despite that acidic rain, they saved their ensnared comrades and beat the giant Polyptus or whatever it was called. They proceeded forward, despite the thicker fog, walked around the lake, went deeper into the upside down forest, and found that their path was blocked, another upside down forest before them. Not again. Yes again. This new forest was more grotesque than before, some sort of stinky oil-like substance leaking from the foliage into the party below. Iván could definitely smell it, but he lived through far worse, so it didn't bother him as much. Touching it was another matter.

Touching it was an unpleasant requirement so they could reorient themselves by walking up the sidewall, which was doused with the substance. Through the gross forest, they eventually come across a strange but massive entrance with a sign written in some sort of language. Iván didn't understand what the sign meant, having never seen that language before. He also thought the building was pretty bizzare, more modern than anything around here. It was also colder inside, extremely dark. Iván wanted to look around them some more but, after hearing @Grand Witch Majolica's call for the Witch Ops, some sort of earthquake discouraged him. What the hell... "What is that thing?"

A spider-woman hybrid, one that resembled a pin cushion, went after them, causing another earthquake to force everyone back, down, whatever. Iván found her many eyes disgusting, despite the fact that he was wearing a mask that had once been a predator's face, a face that only had five holes. He immediately got up, as fast as he could, and followed his commander's command, going into formation, right next to @Rias. Almost at the same time @Corvella charged at the spider-woman, and maybe even spurred or inspired by her, he channeled his illusion magic and chose a phantasm spell, targeting the spider-woman's psyche to inflict illusory pain, before summoning a smaller version of the ant queen he faced during his first Aristocracy mission to supplement that damage.
