  3. "Not what I meant when I said I was interested in learning about a spore storm," Claire muttered to herself. Not like anyone would be able to hear it, first over the sound of movement around them and second because her face was still half-covered. But disgruntled muttering did make her feel a bit better.

Though that might have been because the spores were starting to thin, the blue of the sky becoming more prominent as the poisonous spores faded. Was the storm coming to an end?

No, no it wasn't. Claire spotted four enormous hulking forms that looked like they were... absorbing the spores? Huh. She'd heard of the enormous siege engine-like Oakhearts from those who were there for most of the battle at the castle, but there wasn't any indication that this was one of their abilities. The Yladians must have knowledge of so much more than anyone could even begin to fathom.

But the Oakhearts roared in pain and twisted as they fell, their enormous forms reverting as they slumped to the ground, clearly exhausted and near-death. Claire mentally slapped herself--this was no time for intellectual curiosity!--and started to move to help them, but it looked like some others were already going to their aid. And besides, Claire didn't have much to offer in the way of assistance. She settled where she was, continuing to help people wash away any areas where spores might have lingered on their skin, though she did keep an eye on the situation with the elven druids just in case.

  6. It seemed as though everybody was keen on playing the hero and rushing to the aid of others, which was a kindness she simply did not understand. Logic told her that this was the perfect time to begin rooting through carts and corpses for any sort of magical knowledge she could steal and walk away with, but prudence demanded she remain calm and patient. After all, there was no guarantee that anything useful could be found, and ostracizing herself completely from both the players and the elves over a "maybe" was the stupidest possible thing she could do. Correction, it was the second stupidest thing she could do.

The dumbest was dropping her malefic shield, which she did, in order to run over to where Gwyn, @Kyupin Felnya, @Rory Ulric, @Romeo Agostini and many random others were trying to assist the weak and injured. Groaning at her own pointless sentimentalism, she took up a position beside the cart they had loaded the druids into and pointed her magical staff in the direction of @Jack Anders who was standing in a barrier of light.
"I'd say that's good indication that he could help the druids, so let's wheel them over there... All of you, stay close to me," she cautioned as she raised her staff up and dark energy began to radiate outwards in a barrier of her own. It had several wavering gaps, but the portions that remained covered in barrier reduced spores to ash that fell to the ground at their feet. She walked alongside them, doing what she could to diminish the contact they had with the storm of spores.

  9. The happiness she had found only lasted for a couple moments, and ass the cattle acted up and the storm hit, all hope that Emmeline had found had been lost. As the poison from the spores entered her lungs, she did not panic, quickly ripped off pieces of her skirt with apologies in advance to Master Seto, and holding her breath as best a possible as she proceeded to cover her mouth, some coughs slipping out as her gaze darted from side to side, focusing on what was around her.

However, she looked up towards the family ahead, which were being hurried into their cart. The cattle seemed to be acting up once more, and the father seemed to be weak as he push his daughter and wife onto the back, moving to the front. Lumi hurried over and proceeded to help him, making sure he was sitting up at the front right before nodding at him and pointing ahead, "Just keep riding, and don't look back." And wth that, she touched her hand to the backside of the cattle and gave it an icey shock, sending them off flying.

She only watched them for a second before turning her gaze to the other adventurers, @Gwyn ap Herne, @Kyupin Felnya, @Rory Ulric, @Romeo Agostini, and @Lord Lemming, who were all assisting in pushing a cart towards @Jack Anders's barrier of light. She hurried over and took her place beside them, looking over at Lemming and nodding as her ice blue eyes peaked out between the cloth she has wrapped around her head, "Let me know how I can be of assistance." She said, easily moving beside them making sure everyone was okay and in order.

  12. A sigh of relief sounded as the dark haired support watched Vlethela sprint on by. Though a bit of confusion could be seem over the man’s face, it wasn’t as if he had expressed any discontent or lack of welcome. If anything, the Yladian priestess was a sight for sore eyes, one he’d gladly accept given their current circumstances.

“Good to see you’re alive and well! Thanks for the assistance!”

Still focused on maintaining his barrier to protect the others, he’d simply nod once while calling out with thanks. His hands were occupied otherwise. It’d end rather poorly for those that had sought shelter under his wing were he to waiver for even the briefest of moments.

  15. Rory grunted from the struggle of pushing a cart, as he used his clothes to block out, or at least block some of the spores that raged upon him. After they got the cart up to where @Jack Anders was he would ask for air and take a small breather now that he's got type of fresh air.

After a while he would look at the other players around him and just sit down, there was nothing to do now that they were in the shield, and it would be death to rush out to save anyone else. So waiting was the best option now.

  18. Roland grimaced as he sprayed his concoction into the wind. While it had a very powerful effect at first, it seemed that the limitations of the delivery method were simply too big of an obstacle to overcome. He used the last of his potion, spritzing it into the air, as he tried to think of a different option. As he did so a variety of druids ran forward, quickly transforming into the large oak hearts he had seen in battle before. The form was beyond intimidating; the large creatures could easily rip a man in half if they so choose. Luckily for them, their focus was the spores, as they unleashed some special smoke that helped clear the air. Doing so seemed to drain the users quite heavily though as they soon hit the ground in exhaustion.

Roland ran over, a satchel of potions in tow. Not wasting any time, he produced four regeneration potions handing them out to the nearby Yldian forces. "Quickly!" He said as he moved towards Aerla producing a fourth, "Give the others these potions!" Propping the elf's head up, Roland tried to force the potion of regeneration down the elf's throat, relying on the others to tend Vlethela and the others.

  21. Following the lead of @Roland Rutledge, Kyupin scrambled to take one of the offered potions. Rushing back to Hyster's side, she gently rolled him on to his back, propping his head on her lap as she did. "C'mooooon," she whimpered, hands fumbling with the vial. She popped off the cork holding the liquid, then leaned over the unconscious druid and tried to guide the concoction into his parted mouth. "Please don’t die on me," she whimpered, voice openly shaking now that she wasn't trying to calm down children, "I can't let you die."

It took precious moments to force the potion into the druid, but soon, the vial was completely empty. Kyupin looked from Hyster to Roland, her eyes wide. "W-What now?" Just… wait and watch? She wasn't sure she could handle that.

  24. Kirito marveled at the tall Elf woman who opened dialogue with him after they bumped into each other. The western game market seemed very different since he had seen so many tall female characters, which was very untypical for Japanese games. “I’m Kirito, nice to meet you, I’m brand new to the game as well. And yes, let’s team up and help folks for now!” he chimed, extending his hand for a handshake. But wait, was a hand shake an appropriate gesture here? He could tell he wasn’t quite adapted to western etiquette just yet. A soft pink colored his cheeks as he shook hand with the woman, he was feeling rather shy to be meeting someone new.

That was a few hours ago… the spore storm has made it nearly impossible to communicate with anyone, given that anytime anyone opened up their mouth to speak they would eat a handful of fungi. Looking at @Solaria he signaled for her to move forward and continue helping people, and that he would contact her again by making a phone gesture. Afterward, he went to the back of the group to make sure everyone was moving quickly. Just then… he bumped into none other than @Asuna. Given the storm, he couldn’t exactly ask Asuna what she was doing in the game, in fact, he doesn’t even know if she noticed they bumped into each other amid the chaos.

  25. LAST LEG

Through combined struggles and efforts, all but a handful had survived the onslaught of the vicious spore storm. As it finally passed and broke away, clear skies and a clear path were left for everybody to dust themselves off and move on. The most grievously injured were afforded the necessary magic and balm to tend to their afflictions while those that were able bodied salvaged what could be taken from the carts that had been turned over. Thankfully it seemed as though the hardy elven goods had survived almost entirely intact; the greatest loss had been that of life and livestock. With everything secured, the exodus group began to move forwards towards the large forest that served as border to Astorea.

On either side massive trees and mushrooms loomed and leered, some of the woods quite literally watching everybody pass by as creatures of nature and magic inspected the large group curiously. The sheer number of bodies in the group kept even the most daring of predators at bay and so the journey was not periled for some time, allowing a much needed respite from danger. It was not until a fork in the road appeared that the formation stopped and the woods came alive again. From the left fork a deep thundering could be both heard and felt, a massive figure standing taller than the treetops a short distance away. Hefting a massive sword of stone up into its hands, the creature turned to look upon the group and let out a mighty bellow, its slow and deafening steps heading towards the group. Almost too large to support itself, it paced around the clearing that it occupied, waiting to fight any that came near.

As one of the standing elven casters let off a spell, a swarm of dancing lights flew out and began to hover beside the ear of each outsider and adventurer that had come to Yladia's aid. Through the pixie lights, his voice could be heard.

Cough. "It seems that [Mycollosus] has been growing uninhibited for quite some time! Their bodies are quite nutritious and tasty, and probably one of the few non-poisonous things in the area. If you brave adventurers would be dears and take that down for us, we could remove a threat to the area and restore our food supplies we lost! We'll just wait here while you take care of that and.. h-hold on. What? It seems I'm being ordered to tell you that we could always take the path to the right, and avoid that delicious monstrosity altogether." grumblegrumblegrumble.

    Objective

Deal with the Doom Shrooms which are blocking the path forwards, so that the exodus formation can make it to their new home in Astorea. Either the left or right fork in the road will take you to your new home, but the left fork will engage an optional Boss Fight. The right fork will avoid this conflict.

You are not locked into whichever group you choose to engage; you can switch to others.

    Damage

Whenever you post: look at your die roll to subtract HP and EN. Use the last HP and EN you see from cycle 3.
    • 80+ no damage / 2 EN
    • 50-79 subtract: 5 HP / 3 EN
    • 20-49 subtract: 7 HP / 4 EN
    • 1-19 subtract: 10 HP / 5 EN

  28. She smiled as she shook his hand, surprised at how real the warmth felt. "Let's get along well from now on, Kirito!" Noticing his name was a bit familiar to Japanese, she was momentarily stunned and reminded of her youth- and first love- met in a game. She shook it off quickly however. She didn't know how @Kirito planned to contact her, but since she recognized the signal, she trusted in him to remember to do so, unlike her past. For now, there were more important things to do!

She was working hard to help people with their carts when the Doom Shrooms attacked. Only slightly panicked, she drew her sword and got set to rush in, telling the Yladians she was taking care of at the time to keep far behind her so that she could protect them. With all her might, she rushed at the enemy, forgetting her own weakness so quickly in the game.

"I won't let you moldy pests hurt a single one of them! Not while I'm alive!"

  31. Thankfully, it seemed as if people had gotten through the spore storm mostly intact. Lucky that they had quite a few people with healing and supportive capabilities among them, or else the loss of life would have likely been far more severe.

For now, it looked as though the end of the long journey was in sight. Astorea was almost within reach, but the group seemed to have stumbled upon one last complication. Claire listened to the suggestion of the spellcaster, but frowned at the thought of combating the enormous mushroom. The journey had not been easy and they were all exhausted. If this beast needed to be hunted for food supplies, it could be easily done with a more rested group of dedicated hunters.

But before a consensus could be decided on that matter, three large humanoid mushrooms stepped into their path. Claire immediately pressed her fingers to her temple to activate Investigation mode, trying to find out what she could about these creatures. Not much, it seemed, aside from their names.

Well, this was a battle that couldn't be avoided. So be it. Claire stepped forward, eyeing the one in the middle of the path. Her quarterstaff was still in alright shape, and she used her ice to form the sharp tip of a spear at one end, letting the game guide her body into an appropriate stance. Once these foes were felled, they could finally reach Astorea and the Yladians would be able to finally have a home once more.

She took a deep breath. And then she lunged forwards.

  34. Leaves and branches brushed over a figure pushing along the overgrown path. A dainty human girl, her charcoal hair styled into a pair of long and bouncy twintails that she frequently had to hug to avoid getting them caught in the brushes. Armoured boots and gauntlets clinked quietly, her movements careful and her gaze restless. Was she nervous? There was certainly an aura of unease about her, her soft features twisted into a worried frown. But it wasn't as if she were some helpless, unarmed villager - anyone could see the onyx spear she held by her side, poised to lash out at a moment's notice. So what was the problem?

There really was no other way to put it: Kasumi was well and truly lost. The girl was still very, very new to Terrasphere, and to the entire genre of games really. Before she knew it, she'd found herself wandering the wilderness in search of ingredients for her cooking skill... before realising that she didn't actually have a map, nor did she remember the way she had come in the first place. If there was a map in the interface, she had yet to discover it.

Though she somehow managed to avoid any dangerous encounters by sticking to a road she eventually came across, it was still several hours before she actually made any progress. Progress in the form of a large caravan of carts and people that she spotted further along the path! To them, Kasumi was along the path to the right, her pace picking up to a jog and her hand waving above her in an attempt to catch their attention. "Heeeey! Can someone..." Her words quickly cut off when she noticed something else, between her and the carts. A trio of large, humanoid mushroom-creatures, their attention fortunately fixated on the larger group rather than the lone girl some distance behind them. Some of those people had already jumped forward to attack the monsters! If she wanted to get directions or protection from any of them, she was going to have to help deal with those monsters first.

Nervousness was overcome by determination as the scarlet-eyed girl leapt towards the red-coloured mushroom, clutching her spear to direct a series of straightforward jabs towards its fungal body. She barely had any fighting experience, but she did know that her body felt exceedingly light and flexible in this game. Her movements came naturally, if lacking the precision and grace of someone more adept.

  37. Rory was happy with the spores storm being out of the way, he enjoyed the trip so far into the forest...but then came the giant and other spore creatures. Rory calmly pulled his sword and shield out...if you could call it that and charged while saying "I think we can take the giant." and why not? What these people need aren't hero's, but champions.

He dashed into the crowd that took the most damage so far and started to swing his sword. Rory though, underestimated his opponent as he got punched by a mushroom. It sucked, but he could take another shots if need be as he bashed the mushroom with his shield before charging into the next. Teeth gritted in pain and angry, it was on. Rory needed to make up for his inability to help in the spore storm anyway, unlike those magic guys.

  40. With the appearance of the new fungal threat that had presented itself, Jack let out yet another weary sigh while his fingers gracefully danced about the game’s hidden interface. Sending out yet another message to request assistance, he’d nod once upon hitting the submit button.

Not pausing too long, an incantation began to utter from his lips as his gaze shifted from the gargantuan over to the green fungal monstrosity that barred their path. With due haste, a large protective barrier formed once more, shielding those on his section of the road from any immediate harm.

“Split up evenly and focus these guys down! Keep an eye out for anything strange. We won’t know if they have an enrage mechanic or something until the first one goes down!”

Though the chances were unlikely, it’d be best to take precautions to warn everyone anyway. It was better than the alternative of remaining silent lest they all get caught with their pants down, right?

  43. It seemed to Romeo that they'd never well and truly have a break. After the spore threat had been removed and people had begun to move on, it was only a matter of time before something else popped up....

Then something did, as the company go to a crossroads. To their left, practically nothing stood in the way of them and their destination. However, to their right... Some monstrous mushroom fighter thing with a sword. Not that it really made sense, but it was the biggest monster Romeo had ever seen. Which meant the loot was probably good.

But first, they had to deal with the three smaller mushroom entities. Even they looked better equipped and more experienced in combat than he was, which honestly said something about his progress thus far. Too late to change anything, though!

He jogged forward, towards the people that had began to form a team after the red shroom. Romeo was just about to rush in and engage when he realized he was a ranged fighter. Why the hell was he about to rush in?

He jumped to the back of a nearby cart, and climbed up it to find the best vantage point. With a little apprehension, he pulled a dart from wherever he kept darts, turning it about in his hand to find the best way to hold it. Finally, he gripped the handle of the dart and threw it with as much strength and aim as he could muster. If he threw a lot, eventually one would hit, right?
