As soon as he had finalized his character's appearance everything had gone white. No sound, no vision, just nothingness. For a moment he had suspected his client had crashed and was about to remove his headset, but then he felt it. The wind brushing across his skin, the smell of grass, the sound of nature. Shortly after his vision cleared and after blinking a few times his sight was welcomed with the vast grassy hills surrounding him. He had played many VR games before, they were his favorite, but none as good as this. He was impressed and he hadn't even moved yet. First impressions were important to him and so far he was satisfied. He could already see himself getting hooked, which wasn't hard for him. Kasper clenched his fist and released, scrolling through his UI before equipping his main weapon. The large great axe was heavy, but with enough training that wouldn't be a problem. He spun it around in his hands a few times and gave it a swing. Good choice. After binding it to his back he reopened his UI and activated one of his beginner geomancy skills. The ground before him began to shake, and a wall of earth rose up shielding his front. It was simple but would come in handy as his role as a tank. The tall player scanned the land around him with his good eye, not entirely sure where to go. He began walking anyway, assuming whichever direction he went would be worth it. Plus he was interested to find something to train on, whether it be a monster or another player. Either would do. Meanwhile he spent his time admiring all the detail put into the game. VRs were mostly always realistic but Terrasphere felt different. Special. He wasn't sure what it was yet but he'd figure it out. After walking a bit he came upon his first opponent. A boar. It was quite aggressive, turning and rushing him almost immediately. Kasper quickly took out his axe, getting into a defensive position and activating his guard. The boar smashed into him hard, sliding him back a few feet but he kept up his block. "My turn," he said calmly as he pushed the beast away from him. The boar came in for a second attack but Kasper was quicker. Bringing his axe up he slashed it down hard and it cut into the boar with a sickening squeal. He had guessed they would go down easy in the spawn area, but not that easy. Even though he just started he felt he needed a bigger challenge.
Most people tend not to be around when new player signs on to the game for the first time, some are off adventuring others are busying in their shops and guilds. Working on crafting items of great beauty or power but there are sometimes that a person gets lucky. This was one of those times that Aalam had gotten lucky because there seemed to be a newbie that just popped into existence. It was a curious sight how they popped into the world difference from when a person logs in or out it a brand new creation. An expansion to the world that already existed. Leaning back against the trunk of the oak tree he was currently sitting a few meters off the ground hidden in the leaves. Aalam sat still allowing them to cover most of his body and the shade to cover the rest waiting and watching to see what would be the first thing he would do. Opening his UI and equipping his longbow pulling out a crow feather arrow from his quiver. Knocking it back putting a bit of draw on the bow, keeping it point in his general direction, and waiting to see what he will do. So far it seemed that all he did was test his abilities before heading out in a random direction. Slinging his bow across his back so that he would be at a disadvantage when he moved, having both hands free was always a good idea when he was this high up. Following the newbie, it was a bit tricky keeping at a good enough distance that he would have had a troubling time noticing that he was following. However, Aalam had to stay close enough that he would lose him because he wasn’t following a set path. It was a bit of fun ever with difficulty to ensure that he wasn’t noticed. He was about to introduce himself when a boar seemed to come along directly in the path of the newbie. Grabbing up his bow and pulling back to full draw making sure he was ready. However, it turned out that his assistance wasn’t needed. The newbie seemed to have handled it well pushing back the boar with his strength and taking advantage of the opened is defense prevented. Then moving in and killing to boar with one well-placed hit. A little tsk of approval escaped his lips at how well he reacted it seemed that newbie had skills. Making sure he was still pretty well hidden in the trees before speaking. “That was pretty impressive I thought you might have failed. Well done.”
This great axe was a piece of crap. Yes it had killed the boar quite easily but as he examined it closer he realized how bad it actually was. It was chipped and rusted in places, and he wasn't sure how long it would last. He had expected the starting weapon to be cheap, but this was ridiculous. Kasper knew what he would be buying first when he earned enough gold. He'd prefer to have a semi-decent weapon if he was going to join any real battles. But for now he supposed it would have to do. His other skills would make up for what this one lacked. Returning the heavy axe to his back he ventured forward, in search of another beast to slay. That was until a voice called out to him. The tank turned around, golden eye scanning his surroundings. At first he saw nothing, until a slight shake of the leaves above caught his attention. Kasper eyed the stranger cautiously, had he been followed? It was a bit suspicious but the guy seemed friendly even despite the bow he had in his hands. "If I had failed with something that easy I would have quit the game," he said calmly as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you know of anything else around here with more of a challenge?" Even if he had just begun he wanted to get stronger, and he didn't want to waste time. The tank turned and continued walking, sure the tree-dweller would follow him. He didn't pause or turn but spoke as he walked. "I'm not very fond of being followed or spied on, but you are quite skilled. I didn't hear a thing." Kasper wasn't one to freely give out compliments, but he was impressed. Maybe a bit more embarrassed though. How had he been so easily snuck up on? Yes he had just joined the game, but usually his senses were better than that. Especially with only half his sight usually he had great hearing. This would most definitely teach him to use that sense better here. Next time he wouldn't be so lucky, next time he could be attacked. He wouldn't let it happen again.
It seemed the newbie had the right response to the situation at hand worry and caution in the face of the unknown. Examine the area to locate exactly where the voice was coming from it took him a few seconds but that was to expected he was new after all. But there was promised he was able to determine that his voice was coming from the tree line. Even able to pick out exactly which tree he was waiting in it seemed that a bit of movement had alerted him to the location. A mistake on his part he should have been properly hidden and for a newbie to be able to pick him out with such ease was a shame. It seemed that the newbie had decided that he wasn’t a threat to him at this point and had turned his back on Aalam and was looking for a much tougher fight than a simple boar. That was a bit foolish, but it was not unexpected there was nothing to gain from hurting the newbie nothing to gain. However there would be time for practice later, it seemed that the person who had held his interest and was leaving the area and he did want to lose him. Sling his bow across his back making sure that his hands were free all those points in mobility would be coming in handle right about now. Aalam made his way across some of the more stable branches jumping from tree to tree limb to limb, making sure that each landing chain into the next movement letting his hands find support from the upper limbs it would be a point of embarrassment if he fell. Keeping up with him trying not lose sight of him. While the leaves gave him cover they also reduced his visibility, so it was a bit difficult to keep track of the newbie. However, he was not one to lose a target epically if it was someone who had just started the game. It would have been insulting. Making his way in front of the newbie dropping down from the tree lading onto the ground with a roll to make sure that the force didn’t damage his legs, the game might have been set in virtual reality, but his pain setting was always at realistic. It makes for a better experience as far as he was concerned. “Well if you’re looking for something that’s move of a challenge then I would suggest that you stop where you are and then turn left” Point towards a rise a short distance away from their current location. “Over the way, there is a hunting ground for a large group of wolves. They would be willing to welcome you and test out just how far your skill can carry you as of right now.” Pausing to give the kid a once over "you might be skilled, but if you try to take them on by yourself you could end up dead, and that would be painful.”
