As Sean followed up and opened his minimap for the first time, he got a wide grin on his face. "Thanks," he exclaimed, not bothering to close it and moving it to the top-left of his view. "So let's get to the pub." He began to stride to the pub using his minimap as a guide.
Following the man who was clearly feeling some confidence from learning something new, the girl giggled lightly and grabbed onto his hand to follow his pace, grinning as she followed his lead. "You're awful excited. Are you that thirsty?" Her words were said in a sing-song tune- though, admittedly, the arts had never been her strong suit. It didn't sound like screeching nails on a chalkboard, but it wasn't the voice of an angel. "It's good seeing you smile so bright, though. You're growing more and more every minute. Just don't grow too fast. It's important to take your time, too. Even I know that... And I'm not known for taking my time, by any means."
"Sorry, can't promise anything to ya," Sean shrugged. "Say, I wonder what my fire magic can do outside of battle..." He slowly looked down. "I have an idea." He fired a large burst of fire through his feet and propelled himself in the general direction of the pub.
A blank glance as he flew past her towards the pub, Solaria ran after him with the best speed she could muster. When she did catch up, she laughed a bit, though seemed a bit off-put by his sudden burst itself. "You can use fire magic for a lot of things, I'd bet. If you get certain other skills, you'd be able to mix them too. I bet with a blade in hand, you could cauterize wounds like an EMT. It's almost making me jealous... But making medicine and using light is pretty fun if I don't blind myself. Just don't burn yourself with your flames, either. All magic comes with a price, so use it wisely, right?"
"Yep..." Sean shrugged. "Wow, that's fun..." he muttered softly. "Before we go in, I'd like to try one more thing," he paused, outputting a weak but consistent stream of fire magic from his feet to keep him floating in the air for a small bit before losing control and flying into a nearby building, fortunately not damaging it. "Nice..." he muttered, dazed from the impact.
"I said to be careful with magic! Were you even listening?" She wanted to laugh despite being so worried. She moved to peel him off the wall he'd landed against, bopping his head with her hand as she got him on his feet. "No more flying without training. Preferably in an area that isn't crowded with walls to blast into. For now, how about we focus on your health, okay? For example, getting that drink so you can wet your whistle."
"Okay, mom..." Sean chucked sarcastically. "Let's go in," he muttered, brushing some dust off his outfit, shaking his head, and entering the pub.
"I'm not your mother, but I may as well be your nurse for now." She mused with an equally sarcastic yet playful smile. She pat his back as he dusted off and followed him inside, calling to the bartender she'd be ordering 'her usual'. Most pubs that knew her knew she never ordered anything but the same weird drink. They also weren't usually surprised to see her slightly steaming over someone being hurt for any particular reason. She looked around and found a familiar table, hugging onto her friend to point it out. "Over there look okay? That impact looked pretty heavy, so I want some room to take care of any wounds."
"Yeah, that's fine," Sean exclaimed, walking over and sitting in the chair. He seemed to be scanning the pub for any little detail that seemed interesting. "Is there anything to get from this...?" He softly thought out loud.
His words confused her as she began to dig through her inventory, pulling out a surprisingly not smelly poultice and rubbing it on the bump on his head she could see from flying into the wall. "As long as you don't have a concussion, I'm pretty happy right now. What is it you want to get from this exactly? And what do you mean by 'this'?"
"By 'this' I mean the current location, and what I'm looking for is basically anything interesting," Sean shrugged. "It doesn't look like there's anything interesting here." He started to drift into sleep without knowing it.
His sudden sleep worried her slightly- considering the blow, she had to be careful how she healed him, and generally preferred keeping him awake to know he'd survive the trauma his brain may have reached. "Why do you find it not interesting here? There are lots of interesting people here. I bet they have stories to tell that can give us leads, if we listen." She used a healing spell despite having focused on her alchemy. So long as she kept him alive, her mind would stay at least partially in tact, would it not? "What do you think would be interesting?"
As Sean started to wake back up, noticing he had started to go adrift, he looked around one more time. "Basically, what's interesting to me is any 'Kill these for money' signs, fights, and explosions. And you can clearly tell there's none of any of those here."
"I think you'd enjoy life more in any world if you didn't keep your interest list focused so small," Solaria murmured with a mixture of dismay and some slight sarcasm, before a notable sigh escaped her. "I was thinking you'd grown well since we met last but... There are a few things that keep you reminding me of my brother... And that's not necessarily a good thing, in the end." It wasn't like she thought she was anything better, of course. The things she adamantly looked for she still had a keen focus on- but the fact was, other things besides just fighting and killing were dear to her. "Try focusing less on violent matters and more on the people around you. I mean, I love a fight as much as the next person- I'm a freaking martyr, for crying out loud- but that's not all there is to the world. You even showed you have other ways to use your fire, right? Focus less on killing and more on helping. If you focus on finding ways to help rather than focus on doing it by killing only... You'll find yourself with many more opportunities. Looking only for a fight or a way to get into a fight whether it's for money or the fight itself... That's just going to leave you bored. The best treasures and quests are well hidden. It takes a lot of hard work to find them for real."
"True..." Sean scratched the back of his head. "I suppose it could just be my way of viewing the world." He sighed. "Still, I can't see anything that could lead into a quest."
