  1. Due to the massive raid that had happened a week prior, Daren had learned over the course that the elves lacked several things in order to fend for themselves. The first and foremost thing was that they lacked food. Now, despite being an asshole to most people, Daren did like most NPCs, as such, he had taken their feelings into stride when a few of them asked him for food. Not actually having any, the young man began to ask some of the local players if they knew of any place to get some decent food. Only two players had responded to the help chat and said that there were some Tuskarrs in the Pormont fields. They had also warned him about potential fact that they could be out of season. This did not matter to Daren, he simply wished to help the elven NPCs.

Traveling from the location he was at to the Pormont plains took Daren a few game days, but to him, it was worth it. In fact, when he had arrived it had recently rained and as such, he could still smell the rain and see the dampened grass. This elicited a small smile from Daren that then turned into a light laugh. As he looked at the world clock on his overlay menu, Daren nodded and then spoke to himself. "I think I'll log out and get some sleep after this quest. I haven't actually logged out in almost five days." Having spoken that, Daren began walking forward, he could see a few low tiered players like himself also hunting for these animals. This made Daren smile as he watched a group of two take down two tuskarrs in a row. This meant that the creatures weren't as strong as the NPCs made them out to be. That was until he saw a player get hit and then trampled over by a stampede of three piglets and they're mother or father.

The four creatures had then turned their attention to that of the healer that stood before them. Sighing, Daren looked at his menu and then sent out an LFG alert before initiating light combat. The three piglets seemed easily distracted when he had tossed a stone behind them, but the big Tuskarr, not so much. Biting his lip, Daren sighed again and then spoke. "Oh come on...I didn't want to engage this bounty just yet you know. I wanted to watch others and see how they dealt with you..." Daren had then narrowly avoided the tusk blow from the 275 pound Tuskarr only to trip and fall backward. Seeing the animal raise its head and then moved toward biting his leg, Daren rolled toward the left and jumped up. It was at this moment that he finally decided to attack. Even if no one ended up helping him, he could at least attempt to take down the massive beast.

  2. Kyupin was getting more and more used to this whole 'virtual reality kill or be killed' thing. In her attempt to toughen up, she'd been staring intently at the LFG channel for something within her skill range while wandering around the map. She was absolutely delighted to catch the call for help from Daren, especially since it was actually within running distance from where she was.

She inhaled deeply, then set off in the direction of the fields that the Tuskarrs tended to roam. Each bouncing step brought her closer and closer, until she could spot Daren's form, highlighted with the party member outline, facing off against one of the boars. Kyupin leaned over to catch her breath, picking an arrow from her quiver. As she straightened up, no longer panting, she nocked the arrow. Bow string at full draw, Kyupin focused her sights on the Tuskarr. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale– she let go of the arrow –and release!

The arrow sailed through the air. The sharp metal head penetrated, just barely, the thick hide of the Tuskarr. And just a little bit late, Kyupin remembered to call out, "I'm here to help!"

  3. Daren had felt the LFG request be accepted and soon saw a name; Kyupin Felnya appears under his as part of the party. Smiling he quickly spoke his thanks before once again dodging an attempted stampede. The text of her saying don't die made him laugh slightly as once more he sent another crappy spell at the beast. Even if the spells were weak because of his skills he knew how to at least damage it in a way that would punish it. But, of course, the little guys had decided to turn their attention back toward Daren and his new partner.

In fact, his new partner had actually acted swiftly and arrived just as swiftly. Kyupin had launched an arrow from either her bow or crossbow and sent it into the massive Tuskarr. This had caused the massive beast to turn its attention to that of Kyupin. Smiling ever so slightly, Daren had jumped back a few steps and then began to focus his attention on the smaller pigs. They would need to be dealt with first due to the fact that they'd easily knock Kyupin to the side. So firing off three more attacks, Daren had hoped to the gods above that these attacks were strong enough to penetrate the beasts thick skin. Even as babies the Tuskarrs had extremely thick skin and sharp as hell tusks growing already. This meant that if they were able to attack Kyupin and get their maws around her legs, arms, or any body part that she would be torn up afterward.

A moment later, Daren had then spoken through the comm system for parties to Kyupin. "I'll heal after we deal with these damn creatures okay? I don't want to waste the energy or mp at the moment because what if you or I get hit critically?" It made sense but at the same time, it also spoke volumes of what type of guy he was. He was the type of healer that only healed when necessary, or when someone was in critical danger.

  4. Kyupin let out a muffled "Meep!" as the mature Tuskarr settled its sights on her. Nothing like a raging beast focused on you to wake you up, right?

As she prepped another arrow, stretching the bowstring taut with a quivering arm, she heard Daren's voice through the comms. "Oh," she laughed nervously, "that's a relief to hear!" Was that sarcasm? Huh. Kyupin squinted, fixing her aim as the Tuskarr launched forward, ready to gut her with its massive, yucky tusks. Her fingers twitched and the arrow let loose, cutting through the air and slicing into the flesh of the boar.

She flinched as the giant beast got within reach of her, barely managing to stumble out of the way. Oh jeez. Even just being bodily rammed by the Tuskarr would hurt her for weeks to come! Luckily, she realized that it took some time for it to ready itself for more charges. Something in motion stays in motion and all that jibber jabber. "Sorry about earlier," she said through the comms, wiping away sweat on her brow, "I'm snappy when nervous?" It came out more like a question than a statement, but she was just glad to get the apology for her attitude out there.

The Tuskarr turned around, apparently not interested in letting her make amends with the… mage healer? With Daren.

She twirled out of the way of another charge, spinning around to shoot another arrow. This time, the metal head pierced into the hind of the Tuskarr, clinging on like some absurd tail. Funny, yes, but not really doing anything to help the situation, it seemed. "So, what's the plan?" she called out, nocking yet another arrow. Dodging was… relatively easy. But eventually she'd run out of stamina, and then there'd be nothing to do except run away.

Breathing deeply through her nose, and then exhaling through her mouth, she adjusted her aim.

  5. "It happens, don't worry about it shorty." Daren laughed playfully as he prepared a small blast of holy magic. As she continued talking and dodging the massive beast that only got angrier by the second; Daren decided to send a wave of healing to her. Yeah, he went back on his word but he needed to prove that he wasn't totally useless here. Especially after those two weak attacks on the four beasts. The fact that one of the little piggies were now dead and laying on the ground made Daren smile.

Making amends with her was going to be a rough job, but maybe they could partner up for a few quests after this, help each other out? Especially since she seemed to have a much higher DPS than what he had. Why did he pick the healing class anyways? He should have gone with rouge. But, there weren't many full on healers here on this VRMMO. As he watched the two piggies change direction, and aim toward him, Daren simply smiled and somersaulted over them before turning to give them his own attention. Chuckling he spoke a bit about the pigs. "You know these things are almost cute in a way. I'd love to have one as a pet or something."

Laughing more as he jumped over the next attack, "As for plan...I say hit and run. It's a classic strategy and very viable in its usage, right?" He asked her her opinion. What they were doing right now was simply defending and attacking, there was no thought to it. But if they chose to use the good ol' hit and run style they would be able to avoid attacks while dishing them out...hopefully. Taking in a slight breath, Daren tripped as one of the baby tuskarrs had hit his leg. His head had then slammed onto the ground. Rolling quickly, Daren shook his head. "Yep, that hurt. That really hurt."

  6. Kyupin giggled, almost incredulous at Daren's nonchalant exclamation about Tuskarrs being pets. "Is this before or after they rip you apart?" But it was a fair point to have. A Tuskarr pet. Not what she would personally go for, but to each their own. And while she had specced into beast taming, she didn't dare risk testing her skills on the irate beasts.

Nodding at his suggested plan, it took her a moment to realize that he might not have actually seen the motion. "Alright," she called out with a sharp exhale, twisting around the boar and dodging a sharp, ridiculously pointy tusk. "I'm coming over n–" She squeaked, head whipping around to look at Daren as a crack resounded in the air. "Are you okay?!" Unfortunately she'd not seen him trip, but the painful red mark all over his face and his grumbling spoke a lot about what had happened. Her fingers moved deftly, nocking and loosing the arrow in one smooth motion, aim focused on one of the smaller boars.

As the arrow whipped through the air, cutting into one of the small animals, Kyupin hopped forward towards Daren, trying to hide a smile as the red became more apparent. With the more teasing tone they'd taken to almost immediately, Kyupin felt it was almost right to let out one final chiding remark.

"So," she pulled her bowstring taut, pinching the tail of the arrow between her fingers, "still want them as a pet?"

  7. Something seemed to... change. The Tuskarrs turned tail and ran off, disappearing into the underbrush without further fanfare. Kyupin stared helplessly as they ran away, slowly lowering her bow in confusion. But that was that. She scratched at her cheek and put her things away, then exchanged quick farewells with the man she'd come to help. She hadn't come to kill, moreso than to just... help push them away. And she'd done that, so a job well done to her!
