Moving from Z6 to Z3 after Attack (2nd Movement: Acrobat Mastery)

There was a brief moment of hesitation when @Yukisa called out to her with an apology ready at his lips after all their forces had been divided into diverse groups to defeat the cultists. Some were larger than others, while others were smaller in comparison and chose to stick to the bitter end with those few she knew. For Portia, however, the choice wasn't as simple when it came to the silver-haired male. He wasn't going to attack? Well, someone had to.

But he apologized, and then rushed into battle once again even though their similar injuries already hurt them as much as they could, leaving the woman confused and with few seconds to collect herself.

An exasperated sigh escaped past her lips as the critical point she had fought earlier on the fight was attacked by the person who had once thought of her as a friend, even when she didn't think of him as one anymore. The sudden change in the eye's behavior brought a most unpleasant reaction from the tentacles circling around her arms, throbbing and seeking for an opportunity to stain her even further.

She felt them try, wanting to take control of her body.

    And she wouldn't let them.

With a dancer's grace imbued in each movement, she stepped into close proximity to it without quite touching the acid just yet. She spun in place with both arms outstretched to her sides, meaning to use the tendrils the beast had 'gifted' her against it. The result wasn't the one she was hoping for, though, but it managed to expand her range for quite a few feet. The tentacles, now working as expandible claws to her armored hands, went up when her arms commanded it, unleashing a series of light, yet quick strikes upon the eye when brought down in the same way a whip would work.

She rushed out of the acid zone after her strike had hit with half a mind to go back to where she had come from, but there was no one she knew could have her back there, and once again, she saw her options running thin. The glimpse she got of a familiar pair of goggles and a hoodie told her all she needed to know, allowing her to make a ''tactical retreat'' as she repositioned herself behind one of her oldest friends on Terrasphere, @Iván Carl.

What… what the he—"AAAAHHHHHH!" A terrified, soul-crushing scream filled the battlefield. One that could only belong to the most devastated of folks. "NOT THE ABS, NOT THE ABS--!"

The tentacles that tore from his flesh and wrapped around him were 100% not welcome here. He tried to stab at them, perhaps cut them off, but the octopi appendages refused to let him do any such thing. He wanted to cry. Or die. Or kill the god damn thing making his gorgeous, wonderful body look like the introduction to a hentai artist's wet dream.

A single tear rolled down his manly, chiselled face. It was the only moment of weakness (aside from his numerous screams and wails throughout this entire adventure) that he would show.

Because now, ohoho, it was time to get serious. "Youuuu!" He lifted his massive greatsword, pointing the pointed tip at the eyeball floating over the pool of acid. He charged through the burning liquid, energy coiling in his limbs, forcing his way forward despite the struggle of the tentacles. "How dare you do this to me!" he howled.

Unforuntately, @Yukisa just happened to be between him and the stupid eye. The shirtless, tentacle-bearing man jumped just before crashing into them. Both feet landed on either side of Yukisa's shoulders."Thanks for the lift, buddy!" His legs bowed slightly before he launched off the human platform, straight at Sauron's Eye (Oh, wait. Wrong series!) Titanius' gaze.

Momentum, inhuman strength, and uncontrollable rage swirled all together into a fairly decent attack as sword met eye.

    "Hyah!"

He landed back into the acid pool with a splash and a triumphant grin. Beneath that façade of absolute cool, however, Kingoda could feel it. Could feel the sickly disgust tearing through him, trying to consume him.

    He was scared.

He would not let fear keep him still! It was just a game. Realistic, yes. Painful, yes. But still, ultimately, just a game. And Kingoda would be its hero, damn it!

For once, he wrapped both hands around the hilt of his Ultra Greatsword, and stared down the eyeball. Really looked at it. It was super weird. He clicked his tongue and bent low to the ground – close enough to take a good whiff of the acid burning at his calves. Nasty. Then, like a gun being shot, he took his swing with an incredible burst of speed.

How satisfying! He could stand here forever, admiring the beauty of that attack.

Except, with the acid burning through his skin, he really couldn't. The tentacles resisted and tried to keep him in place as he strained to move out of the acid pit. For a moment, he wanted to believe them. Understood them. Agreed with them. There was no need to move, no need to leave this spot. But, with a jolt, he managed to break free of whatever whispers urged him to stay and get out.

He looked up at @Alkaid Zexis, @Luna Avalbane, and @Madison Freebird. "Any of you know how to purge me of these," he grimaced as one of the tentacles waved, "things?"

Haru landed on the soft ground that was the disgusting flesh of this twisted miniature world. He couldn't help but thank Titanius for affirming his plan- it was trivial to fall heights if ground as soft as this was here to break his fall! His soul, having pierced through the eye of the monster, immediately rushed to meet his own body where it so belonged. Reality, it seemed, refused to keep the two apart for long save for when he was on the brink of death.

His feet made little squelches as he hauled butt across the disgusting floor. Haru takes cover behind Headwind, letting off suppression fire at the eye to keep it on its nonexistent toes. The projectiles took the form of paper charms, impacting into the thing's squishy body and impacting it directly in whatever horribly disgusting soul it had. He almost felt like he was playing Touhou again. Haru hoped that Titanius would go down soon, as he was starting to get worn out from all of this work. What would happen if they couldn't wear this thing down..?

And so the epic attacks continued, dramas played out, and that big ass eye in the room was still just being a punching bag for everyone to just keep whacking away at. In spite of it all, Alkaid held a different role as a support. Clarity of mind was ever the important thing: deciding who was low on health, whose ailments needed to be treated, and whether or not it was just better to say screw it all and play it selfish.

She wanted to make this thing hurt.

But force was something to be rationed. If she continued to attack, she'd only be wasting energy that might be better used elsewhere. So she planned to rectify that. Except maybe for the clarity of mind bit.

The woman had already uncorked the strange, black bottle she had found in the Bandit King's fortress when @Kingoda Hyunivas called out. She recorked the bottle with a click of her tongue, "Well, I'm technically on break here," she started teasingly, "But since I kind of owe you one, lemme give it a try."

Of course, that would require working with cosmic energy. She wasn't entirely sure she could do it, but as she fanned her cards out in front of her, sure enough she felt it flow into the man and fight back the corruption.

Still not enough to get rid of the tentacles, however, "Damn. So close." A sigh. "If you hang tight a sec I could probably get it, although that might not stop them from growing back."

Just barely able to move, Yukisa stepped back from the Gaze, panting so heavily that his breaths became wheezes. A mixture of blood and pus covered him, causing his clothes and hair to cling to his skin, and the open wounds stung as though acid had- wait, no. There literally had been acid poured on him.

His eyes darted around, trying to make sense of his surroundings as his vision became foggier and foggier. Fortunately, recognizing @Portia Ahrens in the distance managed to clear up his sight to some extent, and he managed to calm down slightly as he saw she was mostly safe; not to mention, kicking ass pretty well.

A pained smile and gentle laughter escaped his lips as she watched her use the tentacles as whips. He never would have thought to attempt something like that, especially not with movements that resembled a dance. Sadly, his short giggle quickly turned into a horrid cough, and he gripped his now aching sides with his tentacle-infested arms.

“Ow, ow, ow- OW!” as he attempted to recover, a sudden weight on his shoulders caused him to nearly fall face-first into the acid pool. He glanced up, only to find himself staring straight at the familiar and chiseled buttocks of @Kingoda Hyunivas .

Some level of confusion gripped him, but he instinctively let out a “Y-You’re welcome,” at King’s expression of gratitude, despite the throbbing of his abused shoulders.

Seeing Kingoda display a perfect example of “the rule of cool,” Yuki felt somewhat inspired. He was exhausted, and it felt like he was about to black out, but surely he had… just one last hit in him.

Following the blue-haired male’s lead, he launched himself into the air, one hand gripping his spear while the other continued holding his side. He then planted the tip of his spear into the eye, before pulling himself up using the handle as a horizontal bar. With a last burst of energy, he pushed himself with his legs, backflipping and landing roughly right at the edge of the acid pool. The poor landing caused him to go into a coughing fit, and he shuddered as pain overtook his body.

Glancing up, he spotted @Madison Freebird , the same person he had managed to tick off during The Extermination, as well as @Alkaid Zexis and @Luna Avalbane . Between ragged breaths, and as much as he hated doing so, he whispered a soft, “I-I could use… some help too…”

Comet decided with ease that before leaving for Ivan's portal once more she would help the others out. And, most likely, return for more later. Already her tired muscles begged for a break that she couldn't them. Straining to raise her bow and focus, the pink-haired woman failed. In her own eyes, at least. The shot hardly contributed to the effort. Every little bit count, but a damaging hit would've been useful in the moment.

Grotesque reminders of Dissonance's power covered the room she finally had a chance to look around. A downwards curling of the lips followed after examining her body for signs of the dark corruption. Comet shook her head. She wouldn't let anything get to her. Not now. An arrow hit the eye as she lowered her weaponry. Sighing, the pink-haired woman nodded towards her teammates without making such a hasty presence known. Only the gesture paired with a softened expression served as a way of bidding good luck while she left in the meantime.

Leaving any sort of battle pained her heart. The Archer always craved a good fight, and winning. However, she reminded herself that by going through the portal bigger opportunities would be created. A threat like no other remained untouched by her anger and hunger and determination: the core.

The adventurers were relentless on their assault on Titanius and anything that stood in their way, killing or converting cultists that worshiped the ancient horror as their god. After their successful assault on the all-seeing yet vulnerable gazer, their morale peaked. Yet, they have not known what was awaiting them in the heart of dissonance.

As they fussed over one another, the gargantuan gazer looked at them with glee as the sweet and succulent scent of dissonance wafted the chamber. They were nearly ready… but before the tasting was to begin, one of them had to be taken care of first.

One single tentacle was more than enough. It shot out of the deep darkness above and coiled around the blazing swordsman’s body, pulling him up at blinding speeds towards the ceiling. The gigantic appendage then slammed his body like a mannequin into the flesh ground. @Sean Poteitoku exploded like a bag of blood and flesh, leaving nothing but a large red stain in the bouncy and slippery surface.

    KUKUKU…

Inertia governed the creature’s massive body despite the damage it received from so many attacks. Suddenly, the massive gazer’s pupil turned a bright red. Moments later, the countless orifices in the walls and ground of the distorted environment spewed harmless black smoke into all zones, clouding vision. Then, Titanius’ Gaze and the massive organ it was attached to slowly retracted into the deep darkness in the ceiling. As silence filled the chamber, it was now possible to hear the horror’s strangely human heartbeat. The pounding reverberated through the walls and the ground, it was a calm rhythm with a tinge of excitement.

Afterwards, the ground shook and solidified, losing its fleshy elasticity. Screams could be heard all around the chamber as it underwent a metamorphosis. When the black cloud dispersed, it became apparent that the entirety of Titanius’ flesh interior was now a black crystal similar to obsidian. Several adventurers were either impaled to death or had merged with the black walls — the massive room had literally shrunk, taking many lives with it during the violent transformation.

    profile
    Herald of the false kings

After the drastic alteration of the battlefield, a blinding pillar of light beamed down from the ceiling. When its blinding radiance dissipated, the group could see a woman with snow-white hair and mesmerizing golden eyes kneeling at its center. She appeared to be holding onto the handle of a massive lance with one hand while a shield of comparable stature was affixed onto the other.

Despite the different hair and eye color as well as tiny black veins that latched onto some parts of her exposed skin like overgrown vines, anyone could tell it was the Queen of Falderen, D’vangelline de Falder, who the raid party met up with much earlier in the day. Although she had given her words to help the group, her presence now implied a different role.

Before long, a burst of black fire lit up the entire chamber as a man materialized out of thin air. His most distinguishing features also included white hair, golden eyes, and black tendrils claiming some of his exposed skin like D’vangelline. Despite the slightly different hair style, it was unmistakable that the person standing in front of the raid group and casting his mocking gaze down at them was Astor, the King of Astorea.

No one could tell how or why the Astor, who was responsible for assembling the raid party to go vanquish Titanius in the first place was now their enemy, but the moment he and D’vangelline conversed with the group, it became clear that the only path forward was that of a violent one.

Astor clicked his tongue....Who gave you permission to writhe like vermins, mongrels? Accept your fate, and die already. Burning something as insignificant as you is a shame to a king.

D’vangelline nodded in agreement as she stretched herself. Now, now… If you burn them while feeling shame, they will be nothing but second rate flesh, teehee. I hope you don’t mind if there are some holes in the ingredients, yes?

With his body hovering a few feet in the air, Astor extended his arm forward to cast a spell. The words that were coming from his mouth did not sound anything like how Pyromancy incantations were supposed to sound. Anyone who was well-versed in the arcane arts could tell that Astor was channeling power from an awakened mastery called Fire Possession, though there was not a single presence of the elemental he was supposed to derive power from. Within seconds, a storm of black flames that were shaped like swords began falling from the ceiling, burning everything they came in contact with.

At the same time, D’vangelline positioned herself in front of the floating Astor and assumed a defensive stance by raising her shield and resting her lance atop it. With a faint whisper of a spell, her shield began glowing a bright red. Afterward, several ethereal maidens who looked identical to her materialized in a circle around Astor, their spears were drawn and ready for any insect intending to charge in.

Rellan wondered if this was what it was like all the time.

It wasn’t all bad. The logical side of her brain told her, over and over, that it was just a game, that it wasn’t real and at any point in time she could switch it off, log out and come back maybe when shit was less chaotic and nightmare inducing. But this feeling of…of progression, as if what they were doing actually mattered, Rellan grinned at that as the world began to change around them yet again. They were doing it, whatever that actually entailed. This wasn’t some run of the mill villain, this had to be some kind of world ending beast. Had to be.

The room was filled with black smoke so thick Rellan was fairly certain she could punch it were she so inclined. Instinctively she pulled up her makeshift bandana around her mouth tighter, then pulled her arm over so she was breathing into the crook of her arm. The smoke did nothing, but when it vanished the room was black, shiny and slick, though Rellan couldn’t name of the rock it resembled. The sounds of the dying of those caught up in the transformation made Rellan’s stomach churn dangerously, though she gritted her teeth and closed her eyes to stop it from revolting.

The grand entrance by two people Rellan didn’t recognize was just as flashy as one would expect, what with the grandstanding and the shit talking. The martial artist slammed a fist into the palm of her hand before cracking her knuckles slowly.

“‘Oi…who da fuck are dese assholes?”

And then holy hellfire rained upon her head.

So that sucked. The burn from the glancing blow the falling flaming black sword left blistered, but the wound was on her right shoulder and out of the way of what she needed to do; punch and keep punching until whatever she was punching stopped moving. Looking upon what the Two Assholes had brought to the battlefield Rellan decided to start from the bottom and head to the top, starting with the Clones of Lancer Bitch. Rellan looked to her left, then right, a feral half grin on her face as she dashed in for the attack.

Someone exploded. Always a good way to ruin a party--their dying screams cut short, the shower of blood and gore that followed, the immediate disheartening of anyone getting rained on...

And then the scenery changed. Gone was the festive pulsating sticky mass of the insides of a old god or something. Black was the new black. Walls of sharp, shiny obsidian surrounded the plague witch while spires of volcanic rock burst from the floor, effectively cutting her off from everyone she'd rather be near during times like these.

Madison's gaze fell on a pair of figures on an elevated platform in the center of the massive chamber. The two looked vaguely familiar, save for the spiderweb of black veins that marked their skin.

Then the wave of fire washed over her, overwhelming her. The woman burned, her screams filling the air as black flames licked at her for several agonizing moments before drifting away into nothingness

She fell to her hands and knees, her entire body overcome with a stinging numbness. Madison nearly forgot she still had her pain settings set to wuss mode. The two figures spoke, and she finally put names to faces--they were none other than the king of Astorea, and... that other one, from that other place gated off by the developers or something.

Madison briefly wondered how Lucia felt being faced with the possibility of having to kill one or both of these members of royalty.

As Astor spoke, the cursemage only became angrier and angrier. Her vision flashed red at hearing the pompous words dribble out from between his thin lips. Maybe Terrasphere wasn't banned for realistic feedback of pain and hunger and whatnot; maybe regulatory agencies around the world drew the line at My First Dōjinshi Antagonist-ass dialogue, and sought to spare mankind from the torturous writing.

Keep yapping, dumbass, Madison hissed to herself as she scrambled to shuffle up for a spell. D’vangelline summoned a glowing shield maiden to protect herself and Astor from the combined attacks of the remainder of the party. The witch heard several others shouting about which one to strike down first--the general consensus was that the queen had to go first.

Madison didn't trust this plan. Anime Bullshit would not be overruled by Logical Bullshit. If the queen fell, she believed that the glowing bitch would stick around to defend Astor.

Pouring all of her hate and malice into the cards, Madison drew the top card of her deck. Sparks flew around her as she threw it into the air. A flash of violet flame enveloped her, and with a ear-splitting cry she unleashed the spell. The flames coalesced into a giant middle finger-shaped ball of fire that tore through the air and slammed directly into the Fallen Child.

Iván was surprised when he heard @Rias next to him. He wasn’t paying attention to the others close to him, focusing instead on the chaotic thirst to just end all of this however way possible. From beneath his mask, he grinned, noting how she was just like her brother, determined to the very end. Not this was going to be his end. Or hers. Iván would make sure neither of them would die today.

“I’m fine,” he deadpanned, calling out to her. “Watch yourself.” It was the warmest he could muster, given the situation. He was even more surprised to find @Portia Ahrens in his neck of the woods a short while later. Iván nodded at his oldest friend, acknowledging her presence, though he didn’t have time to figure out if she saw his gesture. This just keeps getting…nicer? Sarcasm was something he needed to work on.

Soon enough, as everyone else did their best to punish Titanius however they could, things did get nicer. One of them got completely squashed, the eye transformed, the battlefield changed for the worse, more of them got squashed, and the Falderen Queen and King Astor himself came from out of nowhere to antagonize their very efforts. It… It can’t be… Can it? These two were leading their very efforts. Why would they switch sides now? And with the fate of their citizens at stake? Wait, did they do something with their hair? More importantly, does this mean Astor’s endorsement of the curry house no longer applies? Oh, no.

It didn’t take long for Iván to notice, realize, that the Falderen Queen had cast some sort of protection spell on Astor. The masked illusionist weighed his options: attack the Falderen Queen head-on or disrupt her spell so others can attack Astor? Assuming he was better off disrupting than attacking outright, Iván channeled his illusion magic, choosing a phantasmal spell, and had his magical familiar, a smaller version of the Spire's Snow-Quilled Guardian, augment his offense. Screaming, the creature charged at the Falderen Queen, accompanied by two other illusions, and stopped mid-way, launching thousands of quills at the shield, some of them phantasmal magic.

Suddenly Fire. So. Much. Fire. But it was chunni fire so Yule was determined not to lose. As the deluge of flames came for Yule's face, she formed a multi-layered wall of ice. She did not focus on maintaining the ice, however. With magic of that strength coming for her, even newbie Yule knew that her ice would not hold. The ice melting was simply a foregone conclusion. She, herself, melting however... Yule was determined to ensure that the jury was still out on that one.

    "Tch~"

That's right, Yule did not focus her energies on her ice not melting------No, she instead tried with all of herbeing to ensure that the ensuring water that the ice produced did not instantly evaporate. Perspiration dotted Yule's forehead as a bead of sweat ran into one of her eyes. Her eye twitched from the burning saltiness, but Yule did not dare blink.

"I won't lose to some mid-boss after thought!"

    Yule took a deep breath:

"The Baying Howl Descries The Coming Stillness! Rise Pressure! Bring Down Your Deluge And Conceal The World! Out of Sight! Out of Mind! Come Blizzard!!! ADVENT WINTER!!!!!"

Two layers of wall left... And now one... All or nothing it is then!

From behind Yule a massive hoarfrost wind blew to strike the rapidly disintegrating final wall of ice. What remained was a shield of bubbling broiling water that was steaming away. The frost wind reinforced it, but it was rapidly pulsating until FINALLY the fire ceased. Yule hadn't won, she knew that, but Mc Fireking had apparently decided that he simply had something better to do. Thanks to that awesome boss logic, Yule was spared from melting like a pretty snowflake. Even so, she had taken considerable damage...

Breathing heavily, Yule grumbled at anyone that could hear her (@Grand Witch Majolica @Iván Carl)

"Is this man supposed to be some sort of big shot? I confess that I feel as though I have just entered at the tail end of the movie and am now being asked to play a secondary role. But just the same! At this very moment! I think I would ever so much like to get involved in having him place his bare ass in a chair of ice so cold that it will take the must of his finely toned rear and bind him to it! FOREVER."

Punctuating the bold, Yule crouched facing the brightest glowing of her adversaries, the child of light thing. Reaching back, Yule brought her water shield into a swirling miniature hurricane in her two cupped hands as her thin arms quivered to contain the pressure.

    "TIDE-DOUKEN!!!"

Shouting that, Yule pushed both her hands forward with all of her might as the swirling water ball grew and shot forth like a massive missile. It was a humongous waterball...

    "DIE!"

Acid, splashing from the lake as the pus-filled tentacle hit the moist ground with a fleshy slap. Janet knelt and covered her head through the rain of evil mist, breathing hard behind her helmet, eyes squeezed shut. She had never, ever thought it would be like this. Nothing so horrible. Nothing so visceral. They had passed “Rated R” a long time ago—this wasn’t a movie. This was Hell. Calm down! The Commander warned us this would happen! Janet took a shuddering breath. Everyone had warned them. They had to stick together.

But when Janet opened her eyes, the Battalion—which had marched in such fine formation before—had scattered.

A helpless observer, frozen by shock, waiting for orders—for someone to tell her what to do, anything, she was too overwhelmed to work on her own with such gore and filth and carnage all around her. She saw it all—the tentacles bursting from the three men, the eyeball moving ever-closer, the moment when the pattern changed and smoke boiled in from every corner of the field.

“Commander! Majolica! Where are you?” Janet tried to call, but her throat was dry. So, so dry. She tried to run, to search for her companions, but the ground was slick and moving and she stumbled, falling to her knees. Beneath her, she felt the change and let out one of the high-pitched shrieks which echoed all around the chamber—felt the slack flesh finally stiffen into stone, polished black as glass.

The figures who appeared were familiar to Janet, the injured duo who’d hailed them at the canyon entrance, but the sight of them filled her with foreboding nevertheless. They had a sense of… dread about them. A darkness. Majolica had called it a dissonance.

@Corvella ! You’re here too!” Janet almost cried in relief, running up to join the knight and stumbling in her effort as flaming black swords cascaded from the ceiling. “I lost track of the others...” She looked around and thought she saw them, scattered across the four quadrants of their shiny new surroundings. As she saw a girl (@Rellan Shard) run past her, targeting the shield-bearing women, Janet’s jaw firmed and she pointed her enormous branch towards the center to assist her. “Take this!” she called shrilly as a wide disc of slippery moss spawned upon the rock, undermining the light maidens' footing.

For what wouldn't be the last time today, Ash was regretting his decision to join this fight. It was one thing to enter a battle well trained and well equipped, ready to strike down darkness in a final face off. It was a whole other thing to find yourself in the position of the grunts, trudging through the muck and grime.

He looked up to his destination, the tethered eye that was... coming closer. It looked aware, gazing around the room, and Ash braced himself for what would come next. Acid rain? Tentacles? Well, at least one tentacle. That poor player...

The eye flashed red, and the spirits chattered fear around him, pulling him towards the center. Closing in, closing in! they chattered, though he didn't understand what that meant... not until the darkness, and the screams. He followed their lead, running in a direction that he hoped was safe, until he found himself blinking in the light and staring at the corrupted figures of two people he only knew in passing. They were... royalty, weren't they? Something like that...?

Well, they weren't on their side, that was for sure. While Ash managed to avoid some of the raining flames, he couldn't avoid all of them - not with the sharp obsidian claws growing from the changed battlefield. The woman stood guard, while the man chanted in a bizarre tongue. Other players were charging, crashing against the army of ghostly maidens protecting the man. Ash couldn't join, but he could still help...

"Spirits, heed my call... Her, help her!" he said, gesturing towards @Corvella, the woman he'd seen take a tentacle to the everything and still come out alright. Most of them refused his hardly-a-spell, but a few eventually broke from the cloud to circle her, whispering wordlessly of weak points and openings.
