Alex's armor clattered and clanked as she trundled up the grassy hill. The sky above was a beautiful clear blue, and the sun was shining brightly. A soft breeze rustled the grass and found its way through the tiniest openings in her armor, as it prevented the sun from making the day too hot. It felt like the perfect day to be out in the relatively safe fields of Brisshal. Any day was a good day to help people, as far as Alex was concerned, but a nice day made it seem like an even better choice. The aspiring caster of magic known as Jace Vale had spread the word that they needed a willing partner for them to test their growing command of the mystical forces. It had sounded like potentially dangerous work for any volunteer, which was likely why it seemed that they had been searching for some while. When Alex had overheard two villagers talking about this in a tavern, she'd decided she was just the person for the job. After all defense and safety were the virtues she endeavored to embody! This sounded like a job she was more suited for than anyone else. She'd sent a missive to the struggling mage and in time they were able to make arrangements to meet. It was fortunate for them both that this day was such a nice one then. Alex did not know much about the arcane arts, but she assumed that trying them out on a nice day was probably easier than squinting at their spell books through a torrent of rain or while wiping sweat from one's brow. This grassy hill in particular had seemed the ideal meeting place. As it was in Brisshal, many people had seen it before, as it was not too far from town, and also just down the other side of it was the forest. The hill stood out because of a large squarish boulder at the top which made it distinctive from other similar hills. Alex arrived at the top of the hill and turned around to look back the way she came. Even through the visor of her helmet, the view of the gentle fields was a pleasant one, like some kind of tranquil painting. It gave her a feeling of comfort and hope for the day. With a satisfied sigh of contentment she turned towards the boulder to see no one waiting on the top of the hill. Wondering if she was early or if her appointment was simply waiting on the other side, Alex decided to take a walk around the boulder and see which was the case. @Jace Vale
Jace was relieved that someone answered to his World Channel message for two reasons. Namely that he needed to practice his magic after he spent most of the war using his Magecrafting instead of his magic and that he needed extra time in real life preparing for Thanksgiving. At least he has no worries on making accidents at the city using objects for his WIP skill. Since this was his training, he decided to use his grimoire as his primary tool for this session. He would try his staff, but he needed to adapt more to his grimoire before moving on to a next one. As for his meeting place, the grassy hill might be very windy, but it provided an open space for him to use for this spell. As for the person who was willing to help him test it out... Well, his first impression upon arriving at the sight was shocking. He was amazed at their armored body, yet a little confused that they were a bit smaller than him in terms of size. Not to mention he was confused regarding their gender due to their armor obscuring any details that may help him recognize if they were a boy or girl. Regardless, he hoped that this person was @Alex Marquardt. "Looks like you're here on time, Marquardt."
Alex rounded the corner and came across a brown haired blue eyed human youth. It was not quite what she had been picturing when she heard an upstart mage needed help with practicing their magic, but Alex knew she should be the last person to point out when others defied expectations. After all, few humans ever expected to see a faerin in heavy plated armor. Come to think of it, humans didn't seem to see faerin often in general they were definitely less abundant than some of the taller varieties of folk. The young man spoke about Alex's timeliness and she quickly adjusted her posture to a more ridgid and formal stance. “I could hardly be considered a reliable aide to others if I were not a punctual one!” Alex answered in her metallic voice. “I assume you must be young master Vale then. Will this hilltop suffice for your magical needs? It seems it is a fine day for most activities, but I feel the arcane practices elude my ken.” Taking a few steps away from the young man and the boulder, Alex stood in a more open space and waited to hear back. “Simply tell me what to expect before you make your attempt, and I will do my best to keep myself safe throughout.”
