WQ - What makes a village?

  1. Jiko awoke to find himself laying on the branch of a tree. The previous night was his first login with Jiko as his avatar. He spent a large portion of the night going through the user interface and learning of the many different options for combat and such. Deciding that it would be best to take everything off automatic he was running the game with him having full control. No assistance needed from the game. Having laid his avatar down in a tree he logged out, and to his surprise he was still in the same tree when he got on today.

Yesterday he heard talk of helping restore the area of Astorea. Apparently a being called Titanius had destroy a large portion of the area, and there was a call out to everyone and anyone able to come and assist them in rebuilding. Jiko had overheard some people walking along a nearby road mention that if they followed the road it would take them directly to Astorea. Using this knowledge he headed out in the direction they were headed. The more he walked the more impressed he was with the game and how the world looked. Every site he passed seemed so realistic and beautiful.

After about an hour of walking through a forest Jiko came upon a a rather large opening or plains. In the middle of the plains appeared to be buildings. Curious if this was one of the many places affected by this Titanius he approached the group buildings to find what looked like a small village, but it was abandon. Farm animals roamed around free, buildings were falling apart or just destroyed, and the well in the center of town was collapsed. Soft weeping could be heard echoing throughout the desolate village. Following the sound he approached a small farmhouse off to the side of the village. Upon entering the house he saw a middle aged woman holding a man in her arms with a young girl sitting beside her.

Jiko bowed his head in silence as he began to walk away from the family. To leave them in peace to mourn the loss of a loved one. That's when he heard a mans voice asking him to wait. He hadn't see a man in the room. The voice came with a soft chilled wind and made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Turning around he saw a translucent visage of the man being held standing before him. It was the first time he had seen one, but Jiko assumed he must be a spirit. After all he had taken the spirit magic mastery. He quietly stepped back into the house and the moved closer to him.

"Not many people can see spirits, but we are blessed you showed up and can. Please do my family a favor and restore our farm. If you did that i'm sure the villagers would come back and my family would be happy again." The eerie voice choked up as it spoke. Even in the after life emotions can still affect your ability to speak. Tears ran down Jiko's face as he remembered his own recent trauma's in life and he looked at the young girl sitting next to her mother. Looking back at the spirit he nodded his head yes before turning and walking towards the woman holding her husband.

With a grunt he cleared his throat before attempting to speak. This was another obstacle he had tried to tackle last night but it did not go so well for him. "Hell....... He......" Placing his hand to his mouth he cleared his throat one more time. "Halp." He then pointed to himself and back towards the lady. The woman didn't move she just sat there staring with a terrified look in her eyes. Jiko tried once again and this time the terrified looked faded and gave way to a more confused look.

"You want to help, us?" She asked giving the wolf man before her a confused and distant expression. He had forgotten he was playing a race of anthropomorphic wolfmen. He didn't consider the implications this would have on him in game with the races, but in the here and now he wanted to help. With a nod of his head the middle age woman had but for a second a small grin cross her lips. "Thank you. Would you mind carrying my husband? We need to bury him proper." Once again Jiko nodded his head before bending down and picking up the limp dead weight.

The woman stood and took her little girl by the hand and walked out of the house and toward the forest. As they approached the forest Jiko began to see many little stones sticking from the ground. It was the village graveyard they were approaching and it was just outside the forest. Far enough away that if the dead should rise or spirits become angered the village would have a chance to react. The woman approached a stone pointed and tried to say something but nothing came out her mouth. Just tears streaming down her face. He understood though. She wanted him buried there, and so he began digging with the shovel that was at the entrance to the graveyard.

Once the grave was deep enough, six feet exactly. He gently placed the body in the ground and filled in the whole. As the task came to completion he got down on his knees at the bottom of the grave. Placing his hands together in front of his chest. He bowed his head as his tears dropped on the ground below. He stayed in this position until the woman tapped him on the shoulder and broke the silence.

"Thank you kind stranger." She took her little girl by the hand and started to walk back towards her house. As the little girl passed Jiko she placed her straw made doll on his lap and gave him a wave as she walked away. Grabbing the doll he ran after them. Finally catching them as they entered their house. He placed the doll in the little girls hand and pointed to the field out back. "He.......Heee.....Help." Then pointed back to himself and nodded. Once again the woman stood there confused, but understanding and with a smile she nodded and introduced herself and her daughter.

"I'm Loanne and this is my daughter Rixxie. We would appreciate it greatly if you wanted to help us restore the farm." They both smiled as Loanne extended her hand out for a hand shake.
