The Admiral
Skip below the line if you hate speeches... Now, from the stories I've heard, people didn't fare too well during the previous World Boss and a lot of people got wiped. Maybe it was due to poor team structure. Maybe it was the wrong background music. But my thinking is it was because people didn't band together and work as a community.
I'm hearing an awful lot of people complain about not having the weapons and armor they need for the quests they go on, and worrying that the next boss (because who has ever heard of a game with only one) will be even more brutal and unforgiving. So here's my thought: Let's cut this guild crap out for just a moment, and focus on this issue not as an individual or a party or a group, but as a player-base. Everyone has been so concerned with getting guild halls up, and joining the same clubs as their friends, but almost nothing has been done to actually help improve chances over last time. Sure, stats are probably a lot higher for the veteran players; but I'm still seeing some of the strongest players in the game running around in Poor gear. If that, even.
Now I already sank a small fortune into buying most the Heavy Armor common recipes, and it's ridiculous that it had to happen: but I wanted to give us tanks a chance to gear up properly before the next big one. Nobody else should have to do the same. Instead, a little bit donated from every player could help us to buy all the Light and Medium armor recipes needed to donate to the shopkeepers, to make sure they have the recipes they need to equip us all. Why don't they buy them themselves? Probably because everyone keeps holding out for better and better gear, which means the shops have no money to buy recipes to MAKE better and better gear or a reason to grow their skills. It will also give them the business needed to help jump-start our player economy and get better things coming our way.
Yes of course they'll still have to charge you for what they make with these charity recipes- that's just how business works. But none of us benefit by being misers and waiting for someone else to just come along and buy the recipes, when the shopkeepers haven't gotten enough business to do it themselves.
------------------------------------------------------
If everyone can donate a little bit then it will all add up rapidly, and it can all be spent for our common growth. Better armors, better weapons, possibly better potions. We as a community can buy the things our shops need to make the gear we want if everyone chips in together.
I'm prepared to handle the donations myself and buy what's needed, but if mine isn't a face you can trust then one of the Guild Leaders that isn't Merkaba could serve as a suitable replacement for this, if they have the time.
Donations should be whatever you can spare. So please decide who should handle this (if you all even like the idea) and then simply send one, five, or whatever gold amount to whomever is the Charity Coordinator.
RNGesus Bless.
