Dungeon Diving (Solo)

  1. Marzipan gazed upon the Tower of Babel, ears twitching as she wiped her nose with the back of her hand. Today was just another day of dungeon delving, one she planned on going a little deeper than normal. Sure she stuck around the first two floors, but she wanted to try her luck with the third and, if possible, fourth floors. Heaving a sigh, the Hume Bunny walked at a brisk pace as she headed into the Tower of Babel and down its stairs that led to the Dungeon.

Her footsteps echoed as she descended the spiraling staircase, determination within her mind as one hand made its way to the hilt of one of her swords. She pulled both swords out immediately once she reached the bottom. The insides of the Dungeon was waiting for her.

As she made her way through the caverns, she began to study its interior. Such walls would have one mistaken it for a cavern within the mountains. But these walls had a secret, they were able to create monsters. She spat on the ground. If the Dungeon wasn't able to spawn monsters that way, then people wouldn't have to fear them. But then again, she wouldn't be out here slaying monsters if that were the case.

She paused as she heard something behind her, her ears swiveling to gather information on what the noise was. Judging by the grunts and the area she was in, it was no doubt a goblin. She whirled around and saw two goblins come out from the walls. She didn't waste any time and immediately charged at the goblins. They were taken by surprise by her speed as she sliced them up with her swords. They shrieked as they tried to fight back, but she was able to dodge their blows just fine.

One blade slipped into one of the goblin's rib cage and it let out a high pitched shriek that was stopped midway by a cough, spitting out blood from its mouth. The other goblin had its neck sliced open and it, too, was drowning in its own blood. Once that goblin died and left its soul stone, she turned on the other that had taken ahold of her arm. "Get off!" she growled as she moved her arm so that the monster was in front of her and gave it a savage kick between its legs. It immediately let go and she wasted no time in giving one final slash before it died and left its soul stone. She picked both stones up and immediately pocketed it in her bag.

With a sigh, she glanced at the wall before turning her body away from it. "Well, two down, many more to go," she mumbled as she flicked some blood off her sword. She then made her way deeper into the caverns, intent on getting to the later floors.

  2. Step. Step. Step. With each step she found herself growing bolder, confident in her ability to slay the goblins that appeared in the first two floors. She had practiced killing many times now. But perhaps she would gain better profits if she went down deeper. Her goal was to reach as low as she would dare without a party, which meant the third and, possibly, the fourth floor.

Turning to the right, she found the cavern starting to slope downward, causing her eyes to light up and for her to grin. There it was, the entrance to the second floor. Without hesitation, she went down below, eyes focused solely in front of her. The trip down wasn't much of a chore and she emerged from it with fierce determination. She turned her ears to see if she could hear anything that was even remotely close to the entrance. She heard nothing. With a shrug, she went deeper into the caverns in search of some monsters to slay.

Her efforts were rewarded when she came upon a pack of five goblins this time. She tried to approach them cautiously, but unfortunately they spotted her immediately and began to move towards her, bloodshot eyes filled with bloodlust. "Tch." She backed up a bit, sizing up to the group that was advancing towards her.

With great speed, she charged forward and spun around with swords outstretched. The whirlwind sent the goblins staggering back, but they were able to catch their breath after the attack. They began using the weapons they had, one throwing a sharp stone at her body with its slingshot. It bounced off harmlessly. "That all you got?" she asked cockily as she made her way to one of its comrades and began slicing it up. The goblin shrieked under the blows and she was able to silence it with a well aimed jab to its eye and deep into its skull.

She found herself being ambushed as one goblin leapt on her back. "Argh! Get off!" she yelled as she flopped down onto the ground. She rolled away from the other goblins' attacks, free from the fourth goblin's grasp. She immediately leapt back up and faced the lot, her determination burning brighter than ever before.

"Alright, come at me!" And come at her they did, with stones and crude weapons. She once more charged forward and used her swords to deliver slash after slash. She was able to blind one while another was left with its ear lopped off. A third found its stomach sliced open and its entrails spilling out while the fourth's weapon was dropped as it clutched one of its bleeding hands. Keeping an eye on the other goblins, she went over to the weaponless one and immediately stabbed at it and slit its throat. The goblin died and she turned her attention onto the others.

"Who's next?" she asked. The goblin with its entrails spilling out immediately died at her words. She couldn't help but blink and laugh at that, her laughter cut short as the goblin with a missing ear moved forward with its weapon. She easily dispatched it while the blind one she quickly put out of its misery. Letting out a huff, she began to collect the soul stones and searched for the goblin's missing ear in hopes of getting a drop item out of it. She couldn't find it, sadly, but at least she had some new soul stones in her collection. Getting up, she began making her way through the second floor, intent on finding the entrance to the third floor.

  3. Marzipan's bag was halfway filled with goblin soul stones by the time she came upon the entrance to the third floor. She was getting tired, but she didn't seem to mind as she descended the sloping entryway. After all, killing monsters was a good workout and practice made perfect, made her stronger. It sort of reminded her of her training sessions with her old teacher, except without the killing. She wondered how the old man was doing now, in her peaceful village of Sezyana.

She found the third floor to be lackluster as she tried to use her hearing to determine if there were any monsters nearby. She heard a very faint roaring, but other than that there was nothing. She sighed as she went to a wall and sat down, her back pressed against it. Now was a good time to rest for a moment, since there were no monsters about.

She rummaged through her bag and got out a flask of water and some lembas bread she made for the trip. She took a long swig of the flask and let out a satisfied "Ah!" when she was done drinking it. She then began to munch on her lembas bread, contentedly thinking about her family. Her family had moved to another place due to her father's origins as a former noble, her father being found out by one of the servants sent to look for him. She wondered how Rye and Brioche were doing. Were they studying hard? Did they found someone they liked? She didn't know, but she hoped they would respond with something after her last letter to them.

She finished eating her bread and put the flask away, getting up and stretching. The lembas bread had recharged her and she was ready to go after kobolds, despite still feeling a little tired. But she needed to move on, for she had no idea how monsters reacted when it was nighttime. She heard horror stories from other adventurers how the monsters they fought had acted more savagely than before, presumably because it was nighttime. With that thought in mind and a frown on her face, she began to search around the third floor, muscles still aching but intent on meeting at least one kobold.

  4. Marzipan walked slowly and cautiously, occasionally using her ears to detect anything that might pop out at her. So far, she had found nothing, no monster whatsoever. She would be lying if she said she wasn't set on edge by that fact. Already she had grown used to going down into the Dungeon and slaying monster for soul stones she could trade in. And she came to enjoy that steady lifestyle, along with balancing said lifestyle out with working part time as a baker.

Her ears twitched when she picked up something shuffling to her right. She turned around to look. A kobold was approaching her, a slight limp in its step and many wounds covering its body. She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at its state. Had another adventurer died trying to kill this monster? Or had the adventurer fled? Maybe it was the monster itself that fled, she wasn't sure. Either way, her swords were ready and waiting to dig their biting metal edges into its flesh.

She slowly approached it to see if the beast would lunge. It did, making her hop back with a frown. "Let's get this over with," she said gruffly as she darted in and landed a couple of slashes across its body. The monster growled as it tried to swipe weakly at her. She did another quick slash then hopped back.

The frown on her face didn't come off as she sized the creature up. It was pathetic, in her honest opinion. Whatever fight it had gotten into had left the beast weakened and in no state to fight. She almost felt sorry for the poor thing. Almost, not quite. She shrugged the thought of pitying the creature off before diving back into the fray.

The kobold snarled and snapped at her ears, missing by a few centimeters. She crossed her swords and slashed at the beast by pulling them away quickly. Some more slashes later and she could hear the beast whimpering, causing her to pause. That pause just earned her a bite to the arm. "Get off!" she hissed, using the end of her free sword to slam down on its head. She began to kick the beast so that it would set her free. She immediately pulled her arm away when it let go, missing another bite.

"This'll be over soon..." Determined to win this fight, she sliced at the creature's throat and began stabbing it for good measure. It gave one last howl before it disappeared, leaving behind a rather large soul stone. The Hume Bunny immediately went over to pick it up and put it in her bag. "Man, I can't believe I felt sorry for a monster," she said to herself as she went deeper into the third floor.

  5. So far, that first kobold was the only kobold she had seen while on the third floor. The rest of the monsters she saw were goblins. She wasn't really complaining, though. As long as a monster was killed and she could fit its soul stone in a bag, then everything was just peachy, wasn't it? She coughed onto her sleeve and put away one of her swords to wipe her nose with the back of her hand. She hoped she wasn't coming down with something, that would make things perfect. Not.

With a sigh, she took out the blade again and aimlessly wandered the third floor intent on looking for more kobolds to practice on. Really, she thought there would be more kobolds than just that one she had fought. But maybe it was a good thing she hadn't seen another kobold yet. She didn't know, but she was itching to see one.

She saw one a short while later. Four, actually. She stopped dead in her tracks. Okay, I'm not prepared for this! she thought to herself, stiffening when the kobolds caught a whiff of her scent and immediately turned to face her. I have to run! She sped down the cavern as the monsters began chasing her, trying to get ahold of the adventurer for daring to enter the Dungeon.

She was still tired from her earlier fights with the goblins and that one kobold, so she wasn't exactly running at top speed. Still, she tried her best to get away from the kobolds as quickly as she can. She darted into one of the side caverns and waited to see if they would run past her. Two did, while the other two stopped to sniff the air. She ran a little farther down as those two kobolds began to chase her again. But two was enough. She felt like she could handle two.

She pivoted on her feet and charged at the kobolds. The sudden charge stopped them in their tracks, leaving her to slam both of her swords into the stomach of one of them. It's howls echoed across the caverns as she pulled out her swords and moved to the left as the other kobold attacked her. It managed to rake its claws on her arm, causing her to wince in pain. Welp, looks like I need to buy new clothing, her mind went as she focused her attacks on the kobold she had already injured.

It roared as it and the kobold that wasn't injured ganged up on her. She did a spinning motion with her blades again, pushing them back slightly, but not quite far enough. She hissed in pain, then growled as she glowered at the two of them. She made sure to give one of them a gash across its leg while using her other sword to injure the other kobold's hand. The Hume Bunny gritted her teeth as she put all her efforts into fighting off the creatures.

The one who she injured first let out a howl as she used her blades to dig into its stomach again, ripping it as she pulled them out. It died quickly and left a soul stone, causing her to grin. Good, now she could focus her attention on the other one. She turned around to face the kobold, who had stopped attacking when it noticed its comrade gone. There was a moment of silence before it roared and charged at her. This time, she was the one to be taken off guard as it rakes its claws against her stomach and snapped at her face.

"The hell?" Why're you acting up all of a sudden?" she wheezed as she dropped to the floor and rolled away so that she could get some breathing room. The respite was brief as the kobold charged at her again. She leapt to her feet and faced it head on, waiting for it to come. Once it was close enough, she brought one of her swords down on the back of its neck just before it slammed into her. They both fell to the ground, but she immediately wiggled her way out from underneath its body. She stood back up and slammed her blades down on the creature's neck. It disappeared in a puff of smoke and left behind a soul stone.

She sighed in relief. Now it was over, it was finally over. She bent down to pick up the two soul stones and put them in her bag. She pondered if she should head back up to the surface now or stick around for a little while longer. ...Eh, a little while longer won't hurt, she thought to herself as she sheathed her swords and took out some medicinal supplies from her bag. As she began to fix herself up, she wondered what else she would see while down in the third floor.

  6. Once Marzipan had finished patching herself up, she got up and began to wander the third floor of the Dungeon. The fight with the kobolds had taken its toll on her, but she continued to persevere, eyes like hard jewels that was glaring at the walls of the cavern. She wouldn't be surprised if she got jumped on by some monster at this rate. She had collected a fair amount of souls stones, so why not head back? But she was stubborn and continued onward, intent on finding more monsters to slay.

Her hunt ended with her stumbling onto the fourth floor entryway. Deciding to be a little bold, she went down the slope leading to the fourth floor. She didn't know what lay ahead in the fourth floor, even though she had been there before with a large party. Probably more goblins and kobolds, naturally stronger than the monsters on the top floors.

Letting out a huff of breath, she descended until she came upon another cavern where it mildly smelled like mold. Her eyes narrowed as she began traversing the fourth floor. She was on the alert, ears twitching and swiveling every so often to see if she could hear anything approaching her. She didn't want to be jumped on by a pack of monsters.

She immediately frozen when she heard something come from her left. Something's here... she thought to herself as she turned to the left. Approaching her was a pack of goblins, along with some kobolds. A chill ran down her spine and her heart began to beat faster. There was only one thing she could do at that moment, run.

She didn't hesitate and immediately broke into a sprint down one cave. She could hear their cries of outrage as they chased after her. She ducked and weaved through the caverns, trying to lose the monsters. It seemed to take a while, but eventually all of them had been separated and she was in a safe place...for now. Okay, maybe going to the fourth floor was a bad idea, she thought to herself once she regained her bearings.

She slid down the wall and sat down, taking in shuddering, wheezing breaths. She thanked her lucky feet that she was able to speed right by them without much of a hassle. But she was starting to consider going back up where it was safer and had more adventurers. She pondered this for a while before shaking her head. No, she'll stick around for a little bit longer. At the very least, she could return to the third floor.

The Hume Bunny rummaged her bag for another lembas bread and began to chew on that. As she ate, she thought about the people that had dared to camp out here in order to make a living. She'd heard about it, but with the Dungeon changing every day, it seemed as though one would get lost. And besides, what if a monster found the campsite? They would be dead meat for sure. She swallowed thickly and took another bite of her bread. She'll figure something out, but for now she needed to recharge.

She began to look through her bag to see how many breads she had left. About five, it could sustain her for a while. She was pretty much set, but first, she needed to recharge. She quickly polished off the lembas bread she was eating and sat there, thinking about things like her family and the stories other adventurers had. They blurred together in her mind until she began to think what would happen if one of her family members came and tried to act as an adventurer. She shuddered at the thought. No, they wouldn't survive it. And it would crush her if anything happened to her family. It was best if she was the only adventurer.

Her ears twitched as she heard something approaching and she immediately stood up, readying her swords. She waited and continued to listen, only relaxing when the sound started to fade away. Already she was getting a little edgy, but can you blame her after being chased by a pack of monsters? She exhaled and began searching around the caverns. Maybe a monster that was alone would pop out. Hopefully that would be the case this time.

  7. Marzipan's adrenaline had long since died away and now she was tired as she traversed the fourth floor. She continued to stubbornly move on, though, feeling like she wasn't ready to call it a day yet. A frown was left on her face after she had finished eating the lembas bread and started wandering the Dungeon again. She was injured, yes. She was tired, yes. But was she ready? No. She wasn't ready to go back up yet, but her thoughts kept telling her to go back. She didn't know whether or not to listen to her conscience and just go back up. So far, her body was on autopilot and told her mind to shut up and stop thinking those thoughts.

Her ears twitched as she heard something coming from right in front of her. She readied her swords and marched forward, eyes narrowed as she tried to find the source. Just then, a goblin was crawling its way out of a wall and tumbled towards her feet. She didn't hesitate bringing both her swords down, killing the creature immediately.

It left her open to an attack as the monster she heard roared and charged at her. She was slammed into the ground by a kobold and she found herself gritting her teeth as she turned her head so that it wouldn't bite her nose or something like it. It slobbered all over the place as it bit her and moved its arms to scratch her. The Hume Bunny immediately rolled out of the way when she saw the opportunity to. "Ugh..." She wiped the spit off her face with a look of disgust as she stood up, staring down at the slobbering beast.

The kobold got on all fours and growled before launching itself yet again. This time she dodged before delivering a strike to its side. It whined, but its whine turned into a snarl as it glanced over at the girl with hate in its eyes. She glared in turn, their eyes locking. And, as if some mutual agreement had passed, they both charged at each other and came to blows.

She ducked and moved away from its claws while she used her swords to defend herself. She crossed them as it pounced on her, trying to pin her down again. "No...you...don't!" She did a low sweep, but it didn't deter the creature one bit. Rather, it snarled as she was getting closer to the ground. Thinking fast, she sidestepped to the right as quickly as she could. The creature stumbled and she delivered several quick slashes to its side.

The kobold growled as it looked at the panting Hume Bunny. It began to move around her, as if it was sizing her up. She turned her body to meet its gaze every time, her glare reflecting off its eyes. Before long, the beast moved in and she prepared to counterattack it. Its claws met one of her blades while the other was used to jab it in the eye. It howled and immediately pulled away, whining as it clutched at its bleeding eye. She couldn't help but smirk. Gotcha, she thought to herself as she rammed one sword into its stomach while the other one was rammed into its rib cage. The beast howled in agony as she pulled the blades away and moved back. It staggered forward a few steps, intent on attacking. It was full of hate as she performed several slashes on its being and subsequently died, leaving behind a large soul stone.

She wiped her brow and moved to collect the stones. Ugh...getting too tired...even the lembas bread isn't helping... Maybe I should head back now. Marzipan was wheezing for breath as she went over to a wall and slid down on it. Let me catch my breath first, then I can go back... Her eyes began to close, but she struggled to keep them open. "No sleeping," she muttered, placing her sword down and rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand. The same hand was used to wipe her nose and taking out the medicinal kit she brought along with her. Once that was done, she waited for a good long while to get her energy back up before making the trek back to the top.

  8. Marzipan had to admit to herself that she was lost. She didn't remember where the entrances were to all the floors and she cursed herself for not memorizing the way back. But then again, she had to run from a pack of monsters that wanted to take a bite out of her. Her frown had deepened somewhat. Stupid monsters, she thought to herself as she wandered the floor, exhausted.

Her ears twitched when she heard something from behind her. Oh for the love of- I'm not in the mood! She began to run, ignoring whatever was behind her. If she made it back to the second floor, then she'd consider fighting everything in her path. But not now, not while she was practically in the danger zone.

Her feet pounded against the rocky ground as she ran, outrunning the monster that had been behind her. She was breathing heavily a little bit, but she felt better knowing she was safe from the monsters. She shook her head and continued to look for the entrance. Where's a good map when you need it? Oh right, the darn thing keeps changing its layout every. Single. Day. Ugh! She paused as she found herself complaining mentally and shook her head. She shouldn't be thinking that now, she needed to get to the top.

Luckily for her, the next few twists and turns led her to the entrance of the third floor. She could see that it was sloping upward and let out a sigh of relief. One floor down and a few more to go. She walked up slowly in order to converse energy. While going up, she couldn't help but compare the walk up to walking up a large hill. It was a little tiring and harder to go up than to go down. But she didn't care, she'll get out of there without much trouble.

With the third floor open to her, she began wandering its halls in search of the entrance to the second floor. She tried to map out in her head which route she had taken when going from the second floor to the third floor. It turned into a jumbled mess as she thought about how she ran from that kobold pack. "Che..." She spat at the ground and just continued onward. She'll wing it for now, and she got the feeling she'll be safe and sound.

She managed to stumble upon a kobold that snarled at her as she drew nearer. ...One more fight down here won't hurt, right? she readied her swords as the kobold began to move. But not towards her, no. Instead it moved away from her. She lowered her weapons and blinked in surprise. ...Okay then. She tried not to think too hard about it as she went down a different path it was going.

The next kobold she stumbled upon didn't hesitate to attack her this time. She growled as she slashed at its body while trying to dodge to avoid its claws. "Move!" she hissed as she brought her sword down on its foot. It howled and began hopping on one foot. She used the opportunity to knock her opponent down and ram her swords down into its stomach and heart. It dispersed in a flash and left its soul stone. "Phew..." She picked it up and pocketed it for good measure. "Alright, gotta find the exit..."

But she didn't find it. What she found instead after a while of searching was a pack of goblins. "...You've got to be kidding me," she growled, "Fine, I'll fight." The goblins began to use their weapons, two of them charging while the ones behind were using their slingshots to hurl stones at her. She didn't paid much attention to them and focused on the front line fighters.

The goblins jabbed at her with their spears while she tried to get in close with her swords. Enraged, she proceeded to knock their weapon away with her swords and slash at the neck of one of the goblins. Once that one disappeared, she turned to the remaining goblin, only to feel something hard knock into her head. "OW!" She tried to shrug off the attack and continue fighting, but another stone was thrown at her and it her arm. She glared at the goblins with their slingshots before she felt something jab at her side. She whirled around and began attacking the front line goblin.

It disappeared quickly when she started to savagely attack it, her body running on autopilot while her mind was clear of thoughts. She then charged into the group of goblins that were attacking her with stones. They were dispatched relatively quickly too. "Okay, I have got to stop picking fights," she muttered as she collected their dropped soul stones and put them in her bag. Standing up, she began to try and find the entrance to the second floor again.

  9. A few more battles later, she managed to find herself at the entrance to the second floor. She was breathing heavily at this rate, thoroughly exhausted. She did manage to get her energy up a little, the lembas bread finally working its magic. But she was still feeling very tired and couldn't wait to turn in the soul stones for valis.

As she climbed up the slope, she began to think about the many adventurers that had gone down into the Dungeon before her. Did they all feel the same way after a long day of fighting? But then again, most people had a party with them and they were able to help each other out. She, however, was alone this time. It would have made the burden easier if she had come with a partner or something, but it was too late now. What's done is done, and she was heading home now.

She paused mid-step as that thought came to her. Home. Her home was Sezyana, and yet... Here she was, calling Orario City her home. It made her a little uncomfortable thinking about it, calling Orario City her home when she only lived there for, what, a couple of months? She shouldn't be calling it her home, Sezyana was, is, and always will be her home. Enough thinking that, she thought to herself, I have to get out of the Dungeon. Then I can head back to the housing complex and sleep. Pause. Or do something else, I dunno.

After pushing her thoughts aside, the Hume Bunny finally reached the top of the slope and, subsequently, entered the second floor. She let out a sigh of relief as she pressed forward. From here on out, it was all goblins. She can fight goblins and not expend too much energy. At least, that's what she thought. In reality it was left to how many goblins appeared before her while trying to get out of the Dungeon. Perhaps luck will be on her side, perhaps not.

Her ears twitched as she picked up something garbled. Her hands immediately went to the hilts of her sheathed swords, eyes scanning the area to see if a goblin would come out. ...There! She pulled her swords out and turned to the left before immediately charging. The goblin stood no chance and was immediately slain. Well that was easy. She picked up its soul stone and pocketed the rock before continuing her journey to find the first floor to the Dungeon.

Some time later, she had to admit to herself she was thoroughly lost. Again. She let out a huff as she tossed her swords to the ground and sat down, back pressed against the wall. Absentmindedly, she took out one more lembas bread and began to munch on it, thinking about whatever came to her mind first. What came to her mind first was trying to map out the layout of the Dungeon in her head. She couldn't do it and gave up after a few tries.

She then began to think about her old teacher. The old Hume Bunny had been an expert slaying monsters before the gods ever descended, his scars and stories proving his mettle. She had been enthralled by his stories ever since she first started training with him. He would go on and on about the many adventures he had, some of them dispatching monsters easily while others he barely escaped with his life. She chuckled as she remembered one of his stories where he was chased by giant boars. She missed him, and he probably missed her too if he wasn't so stubborn about acting tough.

She missed her family too, and wished to see them again. But it had already been four years and they had, for the most part, moved away from Sezyana. She wondered how Bazlama was doing. Was he running the bakery okay? He did inherit the business, after all. She had faith in him, though, that he would do a good job in running the business. She wondered what his wife was like, since in Rye's last letter to her, he said that Bazlama and Naan were married.

She looked down at her half eaten bread, brows furrowed in thought. Marriage was something she had no interest in. But that didn't mean she wasn't interested in her siblings' marriages. What were their spouses like? Were they happy with them? Were they complete jerks? Because if they were, she would give them what for...once she came back to Sezyana and find where her family now lived. Sighing, she continued to eat her lembas bread as her thoughts turned away from her family somewhat.

A few moments later, she was done eating her bread and she laid against the wall, rubbing her eyes so that she wouldn't sleep. She couldn't sleep in here, it was too dangerous. Though she was exhausted, she wanted to wait until she was back on the surface before calling it a day and then going to bed. Her ears twitched as she picked up the sound of something approaching her. Marzipan grabbed her weapons and jumped to her feet.

Another goblin was shambling towards her, spear in hand. With a frown on her face, she waited until the monster charged towards her before doing anything. She knocked its weapon aside and immediately stabbed it in the gut. It shrieked as she pulled her sword out and proceeded to land several quick slashes to it. It went down fast, leaving behind its soul stones. "Okay, enough resting. I need to get back," she murmured to herself as she picked up the soul stone and pocketed it. She then began to look for the entrance to the first floor once more.

  10. Marzipan managed to find the way to the first floor of the Dungeon and she couldn't help but smile a little as she began the trek upward. She was so close to the surface now, and she couldn't wait to get back into bed and sleep for a good long while. Climbing the slopes, though, made her even more exhausted than before. At least the bread was finally working its magic on her and she felt better.

What greeted her at the top of the slope was a bunch of goblins. There looked to be eight of them and they were blocking her path. She froze before swearing underneath her breath. At least her swords were out, but she was in no mood to fight the goblins. She readied her weapons as the goblins noticed her and ran right towards her. She slashed at the crowd, trying her best to shake them off. She spun around with both swords outstretched, which sent them back a little.

One goblin jumped on her back and began stabbing her with its stone knife. "Get off!" she yelled, trying to shake the goblin off. Its buddies took the opportunity to surround her. Gritting her teeth, she spun around with her swords again, knocking them back. This time she bolted right on ahead and was chased by the goblin group, that one goblin on her back clinging on for dear life. She cursed the fact that the goblins seemed to have stayed there, waiting for adventurers to come up, no doubt. That was what it seemed like to her, but she didn't pay much attention to it for she was still running.

She ducked and weaved through the caverns as she tried to outrun the goblins behind her. They split up and she managed to shake a few off, but there were still two left chasing after her. With a growl, she flopped down onto her back, making the goblin let go in surprise. She then rolled away and hopped to her feet. "This is for jumping me!" she said coldly as she slammed down her blades on the stunned goblin. Its comrades came just in time to see it disappear. They chattered as they began to approach them and she faced them, eyes burning with determination.

The goblins immediately charged towards her and she found herself on autopilot once more. She dodged and slashed when appropriate, sometimes jabbing at one of them while at other times she slashed at them. They were covered in gashes after a while, but she was in no better condition for she was bleeding again. With a grunt, she slit the throat of one of the goblins and let it choke in its own blood while she turned to the last goblin.

It snarled as they traded blows, weapon against weapon. This is getting nowhere, she thought after a while as they continued to trade blows and dodge every now and then. Frustrated, she did a low sweep on the goblin, knocking it off its feet. She then slammed down her swords onto it, causing it to disappear and leave behind its soul stone. She was panting heavily by this time, the exhaustion kicking back in. She plopped to the ground and began attending to her wounds. She couldn't reach her back, however, but she tried her best in winding the bandage around her body tightly so that the bandages would stay on. Once that was done, she put her clothes back on and went over to pick up the soul stones before once more searching for a way back to the surface.

She met a few more goblins during this time, but they came in ones or twos, which she was able to handle with ease. Her bag was beginning to get a little full at this point, with the goblin and kobold soul stones. Not that she minded, it meant more money for her. Her eyes lit up when she saw the stairway to the surface. "Finally!" she shouted, rushing over to the steps and beginning her climb back up. Even then, it took a while for she stopped to catch her breath a few times before she truly came out to the surface. She began to grin, glad that she was able to get out of there with her goods.

The Hume Bunny made a beeline for the guild once she was out of the Tower of Babel to deliver the soul stones and get her valis. She got a tidy sum from what she had collected and she thanked the person behind the screen before heading out with her valis in her bag. It was late now, starting to become dark. She quickened her pace to reach her home, intent on sleeping in her bloody clothes, though she didn't care at that point. Once she was back where she lived, she headed upstairs and flopped onto her bed. Her eyes closed and she fell into a deep sleep. Yep, just another ordinary day for an adventurous Hume Bunny.
