_____Auriel looked towards the night sky above, her oldest cat mike resting on her chest while he gazed at the stars with her. ”What do you think Mike? Think the gods came from heaven…?” Auriel would look towards the cat on her lap who would meow at her causing her to laugh slightly. ”I guess your right… it does not matter where someone comes from, only where they chose to go from there… For a cat you seem to know a lot…” Her oldest friend hiss lightly causing her to laugh before she looked back to the stars above. _____”There is so much out there, so many questions and uncertainties… so much pain and suffering …” Auriel was ready to keep up her dark thoughts exposed until she heard a lighter meow from behind her. Leaning her head to see Sparky and his brother Traveler had found their way to the roof. Looking back to Mike she sighed lightly. ”Seems the kids found a way to our hiding spot Mike.” Auriel only had enough time to let Mike move off her chest before the two kittens ran to play with Auriel’s hair as she laid there to allow it. _____Auriel was originally out here to get some fresh air after reading the two letters she had received today. Both had to do with the same thing, the Pallum home country. The first she had looked over was from the military addressing the matters of getting deployed to the region as a middle ground between the military army already there and the Pallum since she was one. The second was from her parents who said the fighting was getting worse between the Pallum and the military. Another sigh escaped her lips as she felt a tug on her hair and waved her hand towards it to sign whoever did it was out of line with that pull. _____Auriel honestly did not want to get deployed to her home country. The darkness and depression there was like her own but from countless people leaving it much so much more then what she alone could manage. While her parents could get her out of her dark thoughts like they had every time before, she feared if she failed and made matters worse between the military and the Pallum she would be the catalyst to a war that was unneeded and only started because Pallum had their whole world turn upside-down ten years ago. _____Slowly moving to sit up as she heard someone knocking on her front door. Moving to the ledge of the roof to see Charlotte and Tower, her superiors there to get her and walk her to the port. Sighing lightly she went to go inside and let them in. Traveler and Sparky held in each arm as she jumped down onto the back yard balcony waiting to feel Mike land on her head before she would move inside and lock the door before setting the two rascals down who ran to go play somewhere else in the house. _____Mike kept an even pace with Auriel as she went towards the stairs to get down to the first floor of her house. It was not a mansion but it was larger than most people would think a Pallum needed to have. Another series of knocks would cause Auriel to speak up to address the people at the door. ”I’m coming, just have to make sure the troublesome twins don’t get out when I open the door.” Words spoken form the front hallway as she pulled the metal wall out from the wall to block the path just as Traveler and Sparky tried to run past her, thankfully not catching their tails this time. Mike began to chase Traveler while Auriel quickly picked up Sparky and set him on the other side of the wall as he meowed in protest. _____Her pets knew that when the wall was pulled out Auriel was going to be away for some time. Reaching to pet Sparky as she heard a loud hiss and turned to see Traveler pinned to the ground by Mike, his claws out ready to dig into the kitten if he tried to run away. Snapping her fingers as Mike retracted his claws and moved so Auriel could pick up the kitten and set him beside his brother. ”You two best behave while Im away and Charlotte is taking care of you. If not I give Mike permission to hit you upside the head!” The kittens meowed and ran off to go play some more, Mike looking to Auriel before he nodded and jumped the half wall without any trouble. _____Taking a few steps before she moved to unlock the door, sadly for her Charlotte wasted no time slamming it open and hitting Auriel’s face with the wooden door causing her to stagger back. Tower sighed lightly as Charlotte ran over to Auriel to figure out why she was holding her nose. ”Careless as always Charlotte.” Tower spoke softer than normal as he looked at the two, Auriel mostly trying to avoid Charlotte touching her. ”I’m fine, can we just get going, I want to get this deployment over with so I can return home and make sure everyone here is still safe.” Auriel spoke just as quick as she was moving avoiding Charlotte’s attempted hugs.
