Pre-event It was a sunny day, a bright and wondrous day to most, but not all. It was on this day that a dark shadow spread out through a small little known street in the upper quarters. It wasn't out of the norm though, there wasn't a soul who looked upon it with any kind of fear for their life, but instead their grim faces was for another reason. It was because 'she' was coming back. Though many knew 'her' identity there were few who asked in depth about it. Instead, they tried to walk just a little bit faster as that dark shadow began to smoke and make way for someone stepping up through the cobblestone as if there were a magical stairway. As she rose silky black hair cascaded down her shoulders, and her abundant chest bounced faintly with every rise and fall. Her silky dress hugged her figure and the feathers at the back of her neck gave her a regal appeal. Yes 'She' was Hades. Rising to the surface, the moment boot clicked the cobblestone, her appearance would become a tad clearer. Her expression was dead, though her pale features were beautiful as if carved from smooth white jade, there was no emotion on her face or in her bearing. Instead there was only apathy and indifference, her gaze was overwhelmingly empty and devoid of any semblance of thought or life, but even so she managed to glance back despite seeming corpse-like. "Spot... Come, let Persephone handle that trouble down there... We'll see how if the mortals haven't burned my place to the ground yet with their idiocy..." She spoke in a voice that was a monotonous drone, if there had been even a little inflection or feeling to her smooth silky voice it would no doubt be electric and as dazzling as a skylark's call but it was a grating and painful drone spoken. Soon, a small dog she called spot darted out from beneath her joining her at her side. She didn't spare it more then a glance and an idle pet before turning her attention back to the road. Her gaze slid from one end of the road to the other to get her bearing before finally heaving a sigh. "This is the upper quarters... There are probably new faces in town waiting but... Boring--" She spoke with a head leaning from a waning interest. "Hurry, let us check on those idiots..."
Six large men walked the streets of the city. They were quite the sight with bodies like bodybuilders and each had golden collars around their necks. They were void of clothing except for each ones tight thong. They had scars across their bodies and faces that seemed devoid of thought. They each moved in unison while they carried a large ornate throne with it's own portable marble floor on their strong shoulders. The floor was covered with a red carpet, and the throne was made out of pure gold with luxurious velvet cushions. Upon the throne was one of the oldest gods in existence... A snobby looking teenage girl with a small crown and what one would assume was a type of school uniform. Her hair was platinum blonde and held up in wild looking twin tails. Her nails were a deep blood red and body was like a super model. All fine and good, if a little over the top, until you see her face. Her eyes are extremely unsettling. Like a child who saw countless atrocities and could never unsee them. Madness was written all over her youthful face. Even though she was actually rather calm right now... maybe even bored. Khaos, the god that was once the very definition of nothingness and void. Now the absolute bearer of chaos, whom all things emerged. Was now just going for a stroll past everyday mortals. Her chin rested in her right hand as she leaned on the arm of her golden and gorgeous throne. Her eyes kept looking straight ahead ignoring everything around. Her current goals a mystery to all, maybe even herself.
Hades had been thinking about returning quickly to the casino, she had to make sure those contractees weren't running it into the ground. However unfortunate though, the sight that crossed her vision first was a collection of men wearing tight thongs with rippling muscles. Staggering for a moment, Hades' stoic expression didn't crack, but her brow knit neatly. Lifting porcelain white hands, looking down at their immaculate pale colors, she shifted her gaze from the other. "I've a desire to vomit, but finding a place worthy so suddenly is difficult..." She murmured knowing that she couldn't very well stain her hands with it, but the dirty ground didn't deserve something from her even if she regurgitated it. At a loss, she decided to swallow it and let it rip at a later date, perhaps when she got home or found some homeless person or member of her family who hadn't completely disappointed her she could throw it at them. Glancing up towards Khaos though who seemed to be having her fun parading herself around town, Hades once more suppressed that urge, her blank gaze was empty, devoid of anything, a staggering contrast to the other Goddess who seemed to have anything and everything flashing across her face at every given second. Hades was simply blank, apathetic and disinterested in her appearance; though if one were to not include her face, she had a very curvaceous figure and generous figure, there was a radiant splash of dignified noble poise but the overwhelming lack of care made it hard to appreciate. As if her gaze could drop the temperature of the area by 10 degrees, she looked up at Khaos with a long exhale. "Old retirees with nothing better to do then parade themselves around. An unnecessary vanity celebrating success that doesn't exist. Trying to claim the achievements of their children as their own so they have something to impress upon others or brag about. I can't tell if this is amusing or tragic-- perhaps I should ask that lazy uncle, he should be able to relate to this." She mused to herself though her voice was a monotonous drone, no feeling of empathy, genuine curiosity or intent really resonating. As if she were teaching math from a book instead she dashed off her attempts at dialogue. Rather then dwell on what she could only assume was a lapse in judgement on her ancestor's part, she gestured with a hand trying to beckon to the woman who sat on top of the palanquin drinking herself in. "I'd recommend diversifying your servants. It's much more profitable and less of an affront to your attempts at dignity and prestige. Truly, if you'd desired to lose and and all face, the only thing you're missing is more leather." She spoke with a blank tone, as if giving advice but it was no doubt a great deal more insulting then it was helpful.
Khaos's wonderfully tortured vehicle had stopped moving. There was a interruption of her thoughts. The beyond ancient being was making many elaborate plans and detailed schemes. This was to be a playground where she could literally feel and touch all of the ensuing chaos at last. Not that existence itself was not hers before. Simply now it was so much more personal and amusing. Although now those concepts that her silly creations would never understand were lost in a flood of emotion and thought over this new development. The thoughts of Khaos do not get interrupted for no reason... Perhaps she could make use of this somehow. Everything does have some purpose in the grand design of eternal struggle. Two pale eyes shifted ever so sightly towards this distraction while the rest of Khaos's body didn't budge a inch. A voice came to the mad deity's ears. Oh... it was Hades. It seemed it was had decided to go in femme this century. 'She' had come before Khaos to moan and groan about things 'she' thought to know about. Then again, most if not all of her creations felt Khaos was pretty much just there due to her methods in the past. This would change very quickly soon enough. They would all become her personal nourishment of energy once things started rolling in this plane. The taste will be so much better than before when she was so detached from reality. Khaos spoke with a constantly changing tone and voice that was truly annoying to listen to for too long. "Such UNGRATEFUL words... could offend... SOMEone Hades, but not Khaos, no no. You are as icy and COLD AS DEATH... like always. Even so, you are such a cuuuute hypocrite and that alone is soooo amusing." Khaos tilted her head slightly towards Hades just to get a better look at the emotionless god. She always found 'her' less interesting to focus on and rarely did the ancient chaos make use of her. Hades was just... not fun. Khaos could not properly enjoy Hades lack of emitted emotions but at least the rest of 'her' denizens were enterntaining. Now though Hades was finally coming around to what the true purpose of all things was, even if 'she' would never admit it. Khaos's lips began to twitch ever so slightly. "Want to replace one?" She leaned forward and her eyes became like a puppy dogs. "Khaos does need a lot more diversity doesn't she? Khaos would enjoy seeing how much you, mmmmm... sweat in that body of yours." Her face changed from cutesy and loving to seductive and suggestive in a single sentence. Khaos leaned back, twirled a finger in her blond locks and smirked haughtily now, with superiority in her wild eyes as she followed up with a shrug. "After all, maybe Khaos will pay you in the gold you so very.... care about."
Hades gaze didn't wink even a blink, her expression didn't shift or change at the girl's retort, she simply kept staring, her frigid stare devoid of any measure of anything as Khaos spoke or ranted. Every deity had their own plan, their own design for how they would try to shape this world, but Hades knew better then that, who better then someone who's purpose and job was to organize and send off things that were lost or dead. Plans were made to be broken and shattered, empires to crumble, civilizations to rise and fall, for everyone's attempts, there wasn't a single one who succeeded no matter what time or place. It was for this reason Hades cared little for the mechanization of the mortals, for the schemes of her fellow gods. No matter who it was they were all destined for failure and destined to clash. Even when it came to Khaos or other primordial gods, she seemed to care very little and offer even less respect then she did care. The reason was clear; if they had done their job, she wouldn't have had to have gotten her hands dirty. She wouldn't have to go through the tedious process of verifying souls, identities, lifetimes, of judging these individuals and ascertaining their worth in the grand scheme so as to properly reward or punish them. If the Primordial Gods had done their jobs properly, this process wouldn't have needed her, she could have lived a lifestyle rich and spoiled as an heiress should, but that simply wasn't in the cards. Instead, she was forced to develop skills and talents that led to her current bleak and disinterested outlook that seemed to look down on redundant plans and schemes that she could recount decades, centuries and millennia earlier. "I find no hypocrisy in my words or actions. Were it not for your inability, I wouldn't have been forced into this role. Were it not for the failings of your children, I could have lived a more relaxed life. If it weren't for the forgetfulness of your grand children, my post could have been automated. Your great grandchildren were so ignorant that they cause disaster earning them the ire of the children that came after them and my parents were so conceited they grew so fearful of my generation that they tried to kill us because we were competent." Hades explained the series of failures she saw throughout her ancestry. There was a reason her generations of gods and goddesses were the last after all, it was merely because they did a good job, there was no reason for another generation to exist in the pantheon because they were the best at what they did. "I am ungrateful, my predecessors have done almost nothing to forge the path for us as parents should and left me to figure out the shattered systems and tattered methodologies of your innane systems. Were it not for my ability to streamline the process, I'd be working like a slave." She explained with a disinterested shrug. Unfortunately though, Khaos's attempts at provoking Hades was something she probably already knew was a useless endeavor. It was very difficult to provoke a true reaction from her, there was only ever one or two exceptions to that rule that were well known after all, but both were equally as irritating to pull off. "Every grievance has it's perpetrator and every debt has it's collector. Whether or not there will be enmity between us remains to be seen, but I offer any and all services for the proper and fitting price." She spoke, her eyes closing to a blank half lid as she continued. "Gold alone might not suffice for such a service though, I'm afraid there isn't enough on this rock, or even other rocks to afford such a lavish thing. If you want a more detailed menu of what I'd provide that's more suited towards your price range, I can arrange one." She spoke emptily as if it meant little for her. Whether or not Khaos knew or not, this certainly wasn't the first time someone tried to buy Hades' services in that way.
Perfectly cool and straight to the point. Or whatever point the gender swapping being thought it was making. So predictable. Khaos clapped her hands merrily and a smile was forming on her lips. Hades was not one who could ever understand what existence was about, what chaos was. It was completely over 'her' head. Khaos did enjoy seeing 'her' do that monorific rant though. It was something she could always expect Hades to truly do well. Khaos suddenly stopped clapping as Hades finished. As if on cue, tears began to stream down the mad gods face as she began to wipe away tears hopelessly. "Sobbing' O-oh y-you're so m-mean. Mean a-and stupid! A big s-stupid head! 'Sob'. Khaos gives y-you everything. Y-you d-d-d-on't play nice. That kinda... PISSES ME off... kay?" Her hands slammed her armchair and her eyes gazed with a fury at Hades. Her face twitched as she stood up and put her hands on her hips. A cackling laughter burst out into the city as she shook her head and grinned like a devil. Hades was a real riot in person. This physical form thing was incredible. Khaos should have thought of it eons ago. "You are... hehehe...good for more than Khaos... hehehe... gives you credit for, child." Wrapping her arms around herself she cocked her head and spoke in a extremely mocking manner, but every so often her voice cracked hard. Her twin tails falling to the right ever so cute and innocently. "Listen little GRAVE keeper. Do you think THAT was all a mistaaaake? Hehehe... you should think, you're one of my more intelligent tools right? WHAT do you THINK your job is? If it was eeeeasy it would be a tinee liddle bid dull my child. THAT ISN'T ANY FUN! Struggle and disdain are part of reality. It's what came FROM meeee. You will someday realize. Maaaaybe. Hehehe." 'Khaos snapped her fingers and the muscular men lowered the throne. She stepped off with a flourish and and stomped her boot on the ground enjoying the feeling of a solid world. She stared as into the chill eyes of Hades as the both of the deity's reflection appeared in each other's blank eyes. Simply one was from lack of emotion and the other was overflowing with madness. "The offer is void. You entertained your origin enough for now. Khaos does wish you could lighten up a little. You tend to be boring as waiting for a star to die. Tsk tsk tsk." A red nailed finger waggled in front of Hades. Khaos made a pouting face. "Money is the root of much disorder. At least you enjoy something that existence offers. Even if it's just manipulation and control of it. Your greed and desire is a good brunch on a less stellar morning." She folded her farms and her look turned very dark. Her right nail tapped her left arm as she seemingly waited. The primordial chaos had thought of something that could effect her plans. Of course Hades could actually be made use of in the coming game. "So little grave keeper. What, EXACTLY is it THAT you are up to in the coming days? Have anything interesting planned for your stay in this realm?"
Hades maintained a stoic demeanor in the face of Khaos, despite the Goddess's best efforts to coax out a response from Hades that had some measure of intensity, it was quite difficult without touching on her two landmines. Far from afraid of pissing the other woman off, instead in this setting it could only be amusing, in answer to Khaos's ranting retort, Hades slowly cocked her head. "You don't understand your position at the present, is that it?" Hades asked as if confused by Khaos's rant about being pissed off and trying to give her credit. Hades' empty stare tried to reach deeper as if looking into the madness of the smaller girl she looked down on after stepping off of the palanquin. Her monotonous tone grew more frigid. "You tried to make it hard, but it became easy thanks to my mechanization. The process of judgement can now be performed by my consort, I have no need to be there personally any more." She explained with an idle shrug. "As for you, your strings that were attached to anything broke ten years ago. Even you should be able to understand; You are not the only progenitor. This world wasn't made wholely by you or the things you made either--" Hades said, finally her stoic demeanor cracked only a little, a very small, very smug smile slowly appeared on Hades face. "--There are other progenitors who had hands in creating this world as well; Other pantheons who all had a hand in creating the laws that enwrap this world; Laws that you cannot break no matter how chaotic or how much you try to void them." Hades explained, looking at her nails for a moment, she ran her thumb over them, lazily examining them and cleaning them idly as she continued with disinterest. "Did it come from you? Maybe it game from Mithras... Maybe Izangi... Maybe the All Father... Maybe Tiamat. I don't envy you, coming here you'll realize as I did that the things you thought were a lie. Because even if I do rule death, my divine power only reaches as far as the Hell of Tartarus, I cannot reach my arms into the Yellow Springs of Hell without an invitation from the foreign Diety that rules that underworld." She spoke, clearly finding amusement in this reality that she was explaining to Khaos. It had been a rude awakening for Hades at the time to find that there were other hells, hells that her pantheon had no relation to or power over, but she quickly stopped caring for a very important reason. Though Hades did have quite a few plans, she didn't have a need to tell them to Khaos, that would only throw a wrench into her well orchestrated themes. After all, the most critical and important juncture was coming up, the merging of Tartarus and the Yellow Springs must go through without a hitch. "I'll disagree with you regarding money as a root of disorder-- Disorder's true root is purely intensity, it's why I try to live without it as much as possible. The less there is the less likely anything is to go wrong." She explained, knowing that her stoic demeanor was largely to ensure that she didn't react emotionally to cause mistakes or make errors. She was someone who needed to be cautious and certain at all times after all. "I don't need to inform you of what I've been up to, I'm sure even now you're making misjudgments about exactly how I've been spending my time. I will however let you know I've started a business up on the surface, one I'm sure you'll come to pester and bother me over, but, fortunately, I don't really have to worry about that here."
Khaos's bizarre deep gaze did not stop during the entire speech of Hades. So Hades was going to continue to divulge 'her' stance through 'her' demeanor. Hades knew and understood the situation which was no surprise, but Khaos needed to make sure through interrogation. As always people with 'her' personality were all too willing to preach facts and what they know, as long as it suited their needs. Hades was prepared. This would be a very entertaining game. Khaos may not mingle much with the other gods, preferring to stay behind the scenes and enjoy the show. This did not keep her from learning the goings on of her progeny and the rest through word of mouth, loose lipped mortals, and gossipy gods. Before everything was dull and predicable. It was what led to this. Now there was new and exciting existences here. The mix of various beings that Khaos had not played the eternal chaotic game of existence with before. Hades was such a confident creature but Khaos knew her progeny more than most of them realized. In the past, her eyes were literally everywhere when she was simply a ethereal being. Having a physical form ended this advantage but the uncertainty was part of the fun for Khaos. When things surprise her, the unsurprisable, it will be so very amusing. Then came Hades concept on monetary systems. Once again 'she' missed the point as to appear the better, although 'she' did cover her trail with the intensity comment. Indeed that was a enhancing factor.... Khaos's eyes finally closed as she raised her hands as if in defeat while shaking her head. Khaos opened her eyes and cocked her head again. A mischievous smile crosses her face. "Oh well. Guess Khaos is ruined. Oh no. Totally clueless how to proceed. Thanks for the heads up Hades. Such a good gender bending child. Everything is so silly, silly, silly. Hehehe..." Khaos spun away over dramatically. She looked over her shoulder slightly and winked. "Khaos does enjoy seeing how the game pieces feely feel about allll this. Just know that there is only oooonnne origin that created youuuuu graaaave keeeeeper. The game does not let you go nor can you escape or create your own rules. The game simply has more players now. Hate, love, fear, happiness, the list could go on for inifinity... anything that comes from anything is my sustenance... thus my power.... and eternal amusement." As she spoke her voice became more and more distorted as her face twitched. Perhaps she was lost in thought, worried, losing control, or perhaps she had decided to use it as a warning of some kind, or even a sign of respect by allowing Hades to feel more of the primordial chaos's inner self. With this being it isn't always clear. Khaos made a stiff motion of her hand to her slaves as she stepped back onto her throne's platform. Turning around she looked sad like a child denied her birthday present, and just like that her insane look completely returned. "Khaos has had ENOUGH OF YOU. For today. Have a GOOD time as always with your familia that I've heard much about from the mortals. They have very loose lips and you should not hide things you cannot trust others to agree to grave keeper. Enjoy letting Persephone do your job while... hmhmhm... indulging yourself with your greed. That is a far more better way to exist." She sat down elegantly and crossed her legs. With a snap of her fingers she returned to the air, once again hoisted upon the shoulders of her slave men. Khaos leaned her chin back upon her right hand. She was slowly but surely becoming bored of this one for the day. Hades always was a short thrill if anything.
Hades could only shake her head with a heavy sigh, she wasn't sure if Khaos even understood the gravity of the situation that was the lifestyle they currently led as physical beings in this world. Their divine power was limited, the moment anyone tried to use even the faintest spec of it they would be slapped by the natural laws they themselves used to sculpt this world. Hades was only fortunate she had alternative means of applying her abilities, such as the calls to the other world and her various guard dogs. Others however were not so fortunate and lacked a means of bringing their power with them. Her gaze still contained emptiness, but there was the briefest flashes of pity, just like Hades learned, Khaos would probably learn soon as well the hopelessness that came with their new shape. "You'll find out the err of that line of thought soon. We all have unfortunately, but there is purpose for us being here I've discovered, though for you-- There might not." Hades admitted, after all, the biggest reason was to influence the mortals directly with advice and business, but Khaos was definitely not someone who could provide either of those things Hades thought. "As for my mortals-- I don't have to worry, the important ones cannot reveal the mechanization of my plans; They are under contract. Those I don't trust, don't know anything I care about." Hades gave a shrug, naturally she wouldn't talk in detail about anything that was important, a large part of the things she said was common sense or easily inferrable and not worth charging gold for explaining. She wasn't worried about her direct subordinates largely due to how much was at stake for them in this employment, a great many would rather die then act against her because if they did speak, their lives and those they were under contract to protect might be lost earlier. "I would recommend mingling more, or else you'll have a harder time, particularly if you continue on like this as well." She explained before watching Khaos wander off, as disinterested as ever now that she'd given as much advice as she could. Dusting herself off, she looked back down at her dog reaching out to pet it's head softly. "Well then spot, let us go back. I'll have you watch the front like always." She spoke as she patted the creature earning a soft yip's response before walking on away to go about her business as she'd planned.
