  1. Skadi

    profile

    Pantheon: Norse
    Looks: looks 17
    Sex: Female

    Sexuality: Heterosexual
    Relationship: Estranged Husband - Njordr

With Skadi’s youthful appearance and slim build, she can wear just about everything but she has developed a certain taste for traditional clothing from the east. She has golden eyes that look as if they’re changing hues from a light amber color to a deep golden brown. Her hair, that had turned dark blue when she descended and had her powers sealed, reaches just below her waist. She usually wears it down on most occasions but would not hesitate to change it if the situation calls for it, she’s actually fond of wearing hair pins with different decorations. Due to her nature as hunting goddess of the mountains, she is slim with a firm body tone. Don’t let her appearance fool you, although she appears like a frail teenage girl, she’s actually a huntress who can take care of her own.

Her true form doesn’t change much except for minute details. Usually her dark blue hair turns white at the roots then as if the color was redistributed the rest of her hair turns black. The color of her hair serves as a gauge to her anger. If all her hair turns white, it is advised that you run and never look back, lest you suffer her divine wrath. Her auburn eyes changes color as well and the color recedes to form two circles, one covering the outer layer of her irises while another circle is forms both golden colored. Her clothes at the time of her change also changes to that of all white. Once this happens, she completely transforms into her Jotun form making her much taller and her look becomes that of a enchantingly beautiful mature woman.

    Height: 5’7”
    Build: Slim/Swimmer’s Body

    Personality

Skadi relates to the word “Ice Queen” to a T, it may have even originated with her being the ice goddess of the mountains. Because of this, even with her goddess powers sealed, she still suffers with a condition unknown to the world of Orario wherein she is almost apathetic and anhedonic. She is able to feel some emotions but you would rarely see it reflected in her face. In example, although Skadi is a glutton for cold sweet treats, you won’t see it expressed in her face whether she’s enjoying her food or not.

She definitely embodies a cold and aloof hunter of the mountains. Unlike most gods and goddesses who descended to indulge in human pleasures, Skadi chose to come down to Orario so that she could learn what pleasure really is. Thus, her somewhat ignorance in how things worked. Though a hunter goddess, she is not far behind the grace of the enchanting goddesses associated with non-warlike domains such as the love goddesses. She exhibits grace, truly befitting the title of “Shining Bride of the Gods” given to her (although she does not know of this fact).

    Positive:
    • Calm – being who she is, Skadi can be said to be calm almost to a fault. People would already be panicking but she will react as if nothing is of the ordinary.
    • Protective – having the mountains as her territorial domain, Skadi is said to be protective of those around her, whether it’s an animal, a plant or anything as long as she knows that the thing in question is under her protection, she will do her best to protect them or it, no matter what the cost.
    • Resourceful – living in the mountains, she learned how to make use of all its natural resources making her somewhat an expert in survival skills and with the usage of herbs.
    Negative:
    • Anhedonic & Apathetic - Being an ice goddess she was almost devoid of any emotion. When she had her power sealed off, it become partial that she could then feel slivers of emotion but not to the extent that you would call her normal. She is still trying to learn what this "warmth" is that mortals are able to feel.
    • Aloof – the stories about “women in white” in areas with snowy mountains who vanish after a while didn’t come from myths. In reality, it is usually mortals who were able to have sightings of this goddess. While Skadi is mostly aware she is seen, this part of her personality has always been a trademark of the hunter goddess of ice and mountains.
    • Forgetful – With her demeanor and her past as a hunting goddess, Skadi has adapted this trait wherein she’s forgetful. It should be noted though that her forgetfulness only applies to trivial things like what day is it, if she already ate breakfast and most especially (to the frustration of people she met), the names of people. She can identify the faces but she might as well have forgotten because she would forget names 90% of the time. As a good example it took a millennia for her to remember her estranged husband’s name.
    • Cold – Yes, the goddess of ice wouldn’t be complete with this particular trait. It is only situation but this is actually the most dangerous amongst her negative traits. If it came to a choice whether she had to kill one person to save five lives then she won’t even hesitate to do it. Some may say she’s just logical but if someone deserved to be treated with coldness, then expect to be iced and get frostbites from this queen.
    Biography

As a previous Frost Giant and the Norse Goddess of Ice, Mountains and Justice Skadi lived her life in solace. She preferred to be cooped up in the mountains which was also the domain of her father. Unlike other hunter goddesses, she wasn’t more of a hunter but she was drawn in to the quiet life in the snowy mountains. Because of this, she never really cared about company, she was a loner and she preferred it that way. The only other companion she had was her father and her animal companions.

Due to reasons unbeknownst to her, her father got entangled with the kidnapping of the goddess Idun and was slaughtered by the Norse Gods. As compensation, she was married off to Njordr the Norse God of the Seas. This marriage was pre-arranged and either of them shared any feelings whatsoever. While Njordr heard the call of the seas, Skadi longed for the wild and comforts of the mountains. Because of this, the two grew further apart and ultimately resulted in their estrangement. As gods and goddesses had their own domains to take care of, it wasn’t new that couples lived separately, that was why it was never questioned why the two separated.

One day, the lone goddess chanced upon a hunter who appeared to have died due to the extreme temperatures in her mountains. Upon checking the belongings of the man, she found book that had an interesting story to it. It talked of a mermaid who had a heart as cold as ice that grew lonely. Although she possessed eternal life and having lived for a thousand years, her cold heart started to thaw. She grew curious, first about the sailors that she saw sailing on the seas. And that was when she fell in love and her heart experienced warmth for the first time. The only way she could be with this man is if she forsook her immortality. And so this mermaid chose to be a human.

Feeling a certain familiarity to the mermaid in the story, Skadi grew curious as to what this warmth is. She got more curious and she spent days agonizing over the solution to this curiosity. Finally, Skadi couldn’t take it anymore, she decided that the only way to experience this “warmth” was to descend down to the realm of the humans…to Orario where some of the other gods and goddesses have already gone.

    Status

Familia: Skadi - to be established

    Domains:
    • Ice
    • Mountains
    • Archery/Marksmanship/Hunters
    • Wolves/Snakes
    • Justice

    Talents:
    • Cryokinesis – The power to create and manipulate ice in any forms. With her limiters off, she can create blizzards and frozen wastelands if she so desired. In her sealed form however she can only do so much, such as creating ice for beverages and/or refrigerate food to prolong their shelf life. Due to this, she also has strong resistance to low temperatures.
    • Hydrokinesis (Minor) – Although she would lose to water gods and goddesses she does have an inkling of influence over water. She rarely uses it though as it takes twice as much energy for her to create ice rather than water as she has to create ice then manipulate its temperature to turn it into water.
    • Weather (Minor) – She only has minor grasps over the weather and even if were to manipulate it she can only make it snow. Although she has minor power over water, she doesn’t have the capacity to make it rain which makes it ironic.
    • Animal Language – Skadi can understand and talk to animals inside her domain which is the mountains. Any animals that can express thought can communicate with her especially wolves and snakes. There is a limit to this however as she can only talk to wolves and snakes outside her domain. IF the animal is not in the mountains then she won’t be able to understand them.
    • Lie Detector – Being a minor goddess of justice, Skadi claims that she can tell lies if they’re being said…although she says she can only do this half the time…which leads someone to doubt if it really is real or not.
    • Herbology - Since Skadi has lived most of her life in the mountains, she has vast knowledge not only on the fauna but also the flora. She knows which herbs are for eating, for medicine and poisonous kinds. Although she has knowledge of them doesn't necessarily mean she can directly influence the growth of these flora.
    • Deserts Chef - Skadi seems to have a knack of creating deserts especially chilled/iced/cold ones.
