Something Kind

Discussion in 'Trade Quarters' started by Kessler Cole, Sep 29, 2016.

  1. Afternoon, Rainy Weather

Kessler had finally gotten his pay from working as a guard here or there. He'd even been a bit successful in getting a reasonable wage thanks to tackling a handful of thugs. Though he was injured as usual, it was just a few blows to the body and face. He'd long bandaged them up and was happily thinking about what to do with the wages he'd earned from the fight. "I'm sure Kami-sama would want something nice but... What?" He murmured to himself looking through a few stalls of cute road side accessories. Since most of his money went into taking care of his mother, Kessler was left with little for himself, in this rare moment when he had enough to be frivolous. Since he had the money, he thought to get something nice for the only real supporter he had left... However, his crippling sense of taste made his choice difficult.

Kessler himself liked things that looked tough or strong or regal, if he had the option, he'd look like a black clad general, but there was no way he could afford or even pull off such a look in his mind. "I'm too small..." He murmured with an internal whine knowing he didn't suit the image of such a magnificent figure who could save thousands and stop hordes of millions. Even so though, he recognized quickly that something he liked like the neat starred pins and angular belts wouldn't match someone like Amaterasu who was cute and lovely in appearance. It left him struggling at the stall who's owner was glaring at him meticulously.

He'd been at this for a few hours now, the few shop keeper's painful glares made him wince every once in a while, withering before trying to leave and come back when they'd forgotten him. Despite trying such a thing though they didn't forget, there was no way! He was far too noticeable of a person despite his desire to remain a background character. "Kami-sama..." He whined internally again feeling some measure of dissatisfaction from his situation. He should've paid more attention! There had to be something she needed!

In the end though he couldn't decide. Deflated and indecisive, he simply wasn't good at picking gifts for women; if it was a partner from an adventurer, or maybe even a tough female adventurer he might have some confidence, but for his goddess who was stylish, he felt a measure of difficulty that couldn't compare to the first level of the dungeon. "I guess I can just ask her but... Maybe that would ruin the specialness? Ugh-- Dad would know what to get." He complained knowing his father was much more of the ikeman Casanova that he wasn't.

  2. Amaterasu had came to where Kessler was. She hadn't know what he was up to, but yet she was excited to spend the time with her only familia member. She had wondered what he was doing. Amaterasu had came beside Kessler who was the only one member of her familia. No matter what she had enjoyed on doting on Kessler, but she was worried about him so she had came to see him. For a long time she had been wanting to have a conversation with him more than anything and just to hang out with him as well.

She had tilted her head to what Kessler was doing, but then she had saw that Kessler was injured. This had worried her the most. Amaterasu had sighed, and looked at him. Amaterasu had wondered what got Kessler all injured and she had pulled him into a hug and started doting on him. Amaterasu is an innocent girl who is quite sweet. Amaterasu hadn't wanted to see the only one in her familia be injured and wanted to help him, but she couldn't do that at all. Amaterasu hadn't know what Kessler had been doing when she wasn't looking, but she does trust Kessler.

"What have you been doing, Kessler you are injured and what you looking for?" Amaterasu asked. She had been patting his hair and she was just wanted to make sure that Kessler knew he wasn't alone that she was here for him. For a long time that she was alone and she had saw him still as a candle lighting flickering in the darkness. Amaterasu had wanted to make sure that his homelife was cozy environment that there was stuff there that he could have wanted. She couldn't believe Susano-o wanted to complicated a lot of stuff.

Amaterasu had looked at his injured and she wanted to know about him and what he has been through before he had came to be a part of her familia. Amaterasu had been bickering with her sibling since she could remember. This was a lot of things on her mind that she didn't wanted to share with Kessler not just yet. There will be a time where I will be able to share my thoughts with Kessler mostly about my family, but right now I want to grow closer with him. Things are so clear that he does care about me. Amaterasu thought.

  3. Kessler continued looking around, idly, passing time until he had to work his night shift. He wanted to try to come up with something spectacular for the goddess who supported him, but at the same time he still remained tragically at a loss with what women could want or need. Sifting through accessories and bags, he was only finally caught off guard by his goddess jumping at him making him twitch. Feeling the hug, his body stiffened briefly, his ears even suddenly darting up from the top of his head where they were usually buried by his hair. Feeling the softness of her chest against his back, he froze as a yelp-like sound came from his mouth. "U-Uwaah?!" He spoke clearly started but recognizing who it was, he slowly calmed, bringing an armored hand to his chest and exhaling his fright.

"O-Oh, Jeez Kami-sama, you surprised me." He said with bright laughter, as always, Kessler's outlook was very kind and welcoming, he wouldn't turn away even a stranger let alone the Goddess he was closest to. Though her question made him brush a hand through his hair with a bit of worry. Asking about what he was doing, he was unsure how she would take his answer, but in the end, he only wearily smiled back. "W-Well, I've been doing some work as a guard some nights since the garrison was short staffed. It-It's a little rough sometimes dealing with people since I can't be too rough but-- But I'm doing my best!" He spoke very clearly proud of his efforts to make the streets a bit safer int he afternoons or early nights.

Though when the conversation switched to the task at hand, he grew a bit sheepish, not quite sure how to explain he was trying to buy something for her as a small present. He stammered initially for the right words, before speaking a bit shyly. "Erm... I was thinking of getting you a present but-- But, well, I can't really think of what to get..." He murmured, his gaze listing as a bit of pink touched his cheeks knowing that he wasn't good at this sort of thing. He was a competent fighter to some extent he could say so, but charm was an asset he didn't understand, and he ended up using it unintentionally. "I mean... Kami-sama's been so nice to me, I wanted to try and do something back but--" He murmured trailing off slowly as his embarrassment got too strong for him to continue.

Hesitating though, he tried to get back on track, a sheepish laugh coming from his lips as he tried to skate around the topic of the present a little. "I'm definitely okay though Kami-sama. I'm doing my best to shine brighter for you. I might not be strong now, but I will someday." He commented getting really embarrassed as he remembered his limericks he would use for confidence every time he fought, things like being the flame in the night where the sun couldn't reach for his goddess, these silly quotes of his he used to inspire himself often drifted through his head when he mentioned shining brighter. It was a happy feeling, but one that left him feeling like he was a bit childish maybe.
