Primer
  • This guide was made specifically for people who have never seen the series but would like to RP here. You do not need to have any prior knowledge on the series, just read through this primer and we'll catch you up.

    Story
The basic premise of DanMachi is that various Gods from Egyptian, Greek, Chinese, Hindu, and other classical mythologies live together in a metaphysical realm that is divided by religion. One day, some of them became extremely bored and decided to descend to the mortal realm to live among mortals. In order to prevent the world from plunging into chaos, the Gods came up with a number of rules. The most important one states that any god who come down to earth must seal away their power.

As a gift to mankind, the Gods grant a blessing called Falna to anyone who join their familia. The blessing allows Gods to read the status (stats) of their children, which are presented in numbers and rankings. Falna also allows mortals to level as though it was an RPG in our world. These blessed individuals use their newfound power to increase their stats, Level up, and make a career out of slaying monsters in the Dungeon, which is a mysterious, monster-infested place that precedes even the Gods.

    Setting
DRP is set in a medieval fantasy world. The country of Orario used to host a variety of Greek/Hellenistic architecture. This could easily be seen in the older parts of the countries that have yet to catch up. However, much of thse architectures have been replace by the more modern medieval style (gothic, tudor, etc.)

With the power of soul stones (monster's heart), which you can read about on the Dungeon page, technologies such as lighting, cooking stove, and refrigeration have been made possible. However, there is no advance transportations such as trains, or airship. Rather than steampunk, DRP uses a crude form of magitech. It is also important to note that gunpowder does not exist in this setting. In its place, people get the explosive effects of gunpowder through alchemy or Magic.

    Familia
All Gods who descend from heaven establish a familia around them. E.g. Zeus's familia, Loki's familia, etc. Although every familia is ruled by a god, each one functions differently. Some are big and prosperous, while others are small and industrious; it primarily depends on the god. It is only through joining a familia that a mortal is granted Falna by their patron god and allowed to gain stats and Level up.

    Falna
Falna is the blessing Gods imprint on the back of Adventurers who join their familia. It reveals prior-hidden basic stats such as: Strength, Vitality, Dexterity, Agility, and Magic. Each stat has a total of 10 ranks per level: with the lowest being [I], then [H] [G] [F] [E] [D] [C] [B] [A], and the maximum being [S]. To know which rank the stats are, we use the table listed further down. Although the stats are videogame-like, they are part of the setting and all characters acknowledge it.

Stats are innately a part of every living thing, including Gods. However, there is a hidden cap for those without Falna. Prior to the descent of Gods, this was known as the physical limit. Falna allows one to surpass this limit and go beyond in a process known as leveling. But, one must not forget about living legends who are just as powerful, even without the power of Falna; they are incredible rare, however.

Although the stats of Adventurers are kept hidden, the level of an adventurer is reported via The Guild. Simply slaying monsters may increase an adventurer’s stats, but it doesn’t lead to a leveling up. In order to Level up, the adventurer must have a D-rank in at least two Basic Ability and conquers a life-risking challenge that pushes them to their absolute limit. These challenges may often be something like slaying an impossibly strong monster, but it is not limited to that. Many ambitious Adventurers die in the pursuit of leveling.
