Introduction

Hey hey, my name is Shibs! I have been roleplaying for years, and immersing myself in various fantasy worlds for even longer. I am very new to DMing, however, and I am having a blast learning more from everyone that I work alongside.

My challenges encourage teamwork, relationships, communication, and creativity - there is rarely only one way of doing things! I love putting players in trying situations, but I always provide the tools for them to find their way out. How they use those tools, that’s up to you!

General Preference

  • Style: Medieval Fantasy
  • Genre: Adventure, Mystery, Horror, Drama
  • Content: Story, Puzzles, Teamwork
  • Interested Themes: Survival, Paranormal, Religion, Mythology

  • System: Freeform, Loose Dice Mechanics
  • Difficulty Range: Easy to Medium
  • Realism: Fairly Realistic

Party Preference

  • Size: I prefer medium-size events, four to eight players.
  • Composition: Though specific roles are not important, players must work together to be successful in my challenges!

  • Tone: From lighthearted to serious, but rarely downright silly or stressful, if it can be helped!
  • Creative Approach: Every player, and every writer, is unique! Use this to your advantage. Consider your character’s masteries, vocations, strengths, weaknesses, and personality while you scheme. Then think about what YOU like, and go with it. Writing should be fun, especially during my challenges!

Interested Plots

  • Chasing after rumors to see what turns up.
  • Racing the clock to accomplish a goal before time runs out.
  • Exploring mysterious, possibly spooky new locations.
  • Meaningful interactions with special NPCs.
  • Basically, anything with animals!

What players can expect

I like to see my challenges as adventures that players join me in. Therefore, my objectives are often reflections of where we’ve directed our story, together. I go in with an ending in mind, but I’m never opposed to letting you all take us somewhere else! I live for character development, teamwork, and the magic that comes from putting a bunch of talented, passionate writers in unique situations.

You can expect situations that push your characters out of their comfort zones, but at the same time, give them the opportunity to do great things. Everyone who participates in one of my challenges is a valuable part of the whole, and I strive to give everyone an avenue to explore their character’s potential. This often manifests in the form of puzzles and problem solving.

Expect a lot of collaboration, communication, freedom, and fun. And probably at least one horse!

My expectation

I ask that anyone who works with me does so with an abundance of respect - for me, fellow writers, our ideas, and the story we create together. Working together can be difficult, especially with as much freedom as you’ll see in my challenges, but being kind, understanding, and occasionally patient, is a must!

Further, I ask that writers stay in-touch with me during the challenge. If you have any questions or concerns, I should be your first contact. This will also how you let me know if you will miss a posting cycle. I am lenient, to a degree, but only if you keep me posted. Otherwise, I will be expecting your timely participation!

Finally, I require that you enjoy yourself. It sounds strange, I know, but I understand how crazy real-life can be. I recognize that Terrasphere, and writing, is something that you make time for. Therefore, it should be fun. As soon as the challenge starts feeling like a chore, please reach out! We are here to have fun, and perhaps adding that to my list of expectations will help us remember that.
